    HI,

I sat down to buy a 2007 EX-L today and the sales guy made a big push for the "covered by warranty" alarm for $695. I said no and it suddenly became $295 and I still said no. I'm assuming it's a plug-in module to the factory keyless since it uses the factory key fob.

Also, they were going to install the Honda cross bars for the roof rails. For $420 I figure it's over priced and I skipped it.

I'm curious if anyone knows about these two things.

    Thanks...

Also, I go back tomorrow to finalize the purchase and I'm curious what else will pop up.

You can purchase most of what you need from H&A for alot less like the roof racks for $202.00.... Good Luck... MNF

I just got a 07 CR-V LX 4WD -- 20800 (+tax+etc), no options, in NJ. The Outdoor price is 22700. Is this a good deal? How about yours?

On friday the 6th the local Honda dealer gave me a price for a 2007 EX-L with the auto daylight rearview mirror which comes with a compass -- I have one on my Accord and like it although it probably is ridiculously overpriced --list installed is $386. Any rate the dealer offered a 2 discount and the price including a $75 documentation fee was 26524.10. That doesn't include tax and title. I was a little miffed as this will be the 4th Honda I have bought from this dealer. He argued that there is a preferred customer package that covers some maintenance etc worth $750 included. When I got my Accord I paid 600 over invoice. BTW, the same dealer took delivery the previous week of 15 CR-Vs and sold 14 of them in 5 days keeping one for a demo! The car is beautiful -- just the right size, great gas mileage and of course its a Honda. Has some neat trip computer features but there are no power seats which is OK. Looks like a real winner for the dealers and I doubt if they are going to cut many deals at least for awhile. Reminds me of an old saying -- the best time to buy a new car is next year -- sounds like something Yogi Berra would have said but its true!

On Sunday I purchased a 2007 CR-V EX-L with no options for $500 over invoice. Worked out to $27,500 out the door. Saturday night, they weren't even close. This is the fourth Honda I have purchased from this dealer. My last Accord was purchased in Gilroy, and my S2000 was purchased in Clovis, CA. I live in Salinas, CA.

HUH? The sticker is $26565. Are you including sales tax in your "great deal" of $27500? Or maybe you got the NAVI thingie (but I thought that was not available yet)? HUH?

    Ah thanks!

    That's what I pretty much figured. What/who is H&A? I'm new to Honda-land.

I am interested in this model. What is the dealer's name?
  • tanntann Member Posts: 2
It is located in south NJ, not far away from #105 exit of GSP.

On Monday, I purchased 4WD EX with no accessories for $23, 145 which is $500 less than MSRP. I was originally quoted $24,145. I had a vehicle reserved for me, because I wanted a specific color, and they didn't have a lot of those coming in. But by the time it arrived from Japan, I had done enough looking around to not be comfortable paying a premium over MSRP. Also the first batch of 10 or so CR-Vs that had come 10 days earlier were still all sitting there on the lot. So when I got a message that my car was in, I told them I couldn't buy it at that price. They matched the best price I had found, but did it so readily that I realized I probably could've negotiated a bit more.

If I had waited, no doubt prices will drop. But it matters a lot to me to have one made in Japan, and production has already started at the East Liberty, Ohio plant, so they may soon be handling all the US production.

By the way, I had checked with a "buying service dealer" who was only able to get me a price of $24,189, and could not get the color I wanted right away.

I wonder if you can ask sales to contact me :) because we are also looking for the CR-V but 2WD only. Thanks.
  • mlauterbachmlauterbach Member Posts: 2
I'm confused. Honda's website and my local dealer has the 4WD EX MSRP at $24,645. So did you pay $24,145 ($500 under MSRP) or $23,145 ($1500 under)??? I'm really curious as I'm getting ready to purchase this exact model and would be pleased to say the least to get $1500 under MSRP!
    Thanks!

bsparks, how much did you get your EX 2WD? I am trying to get it for $23,700 from the dealership but best so far it's $24,200.

I bought a 2WD EX-L in Glacier Blue Metallic from dealer's newest delivery on Oct 7th. Price was MSRP of 25,395 but they provided at no-charge a cargo area liner mat, tinting on side glass, Honda's small mud flaps, and wheel locks. Also came with one-year free of XM Radio. Overall I'm satisfied mostly because, after holding firm, they met my asking price for my trade.

    on website hondacityli.com lists 2007 CR-V EX 4WD , MSRP $24645
    selling price $23089

I paid $ 24,145. This is in Portland, Oregon. Good luck!

Sorry for the confusion in message #3576. I messed up my numbers.

On Monday, I purchased 4WD EX with no accessories for $24,145 which is $500 less than MSRP. I was originally quoted $25,145.

In Chicago '07 CR-V EXs are selling for $23000. Check the Trib for the dealer advert.
  • sgrigorysgrigory Member Posts: 17
This is the quote I have for a 2007 car in Seattle.

It's the best price I've found so far, about $900 off MSRP...

What dealer in Northern Virginia did you purchase your vehicle from? What was your "out-the-door" price?
  • gangulyganguly Member Posts: 4
Is $28k OTD price for a AWD EX-L a good price in Chicago?
  • c_hunterc_hunter Member Posts: 4,487
OTD prices are not really relevant to anyone else but you (we have no idea what's wrapped up in that price). What are you paying for the actual vehicle itself?? That is more appropriate for comparison and discussion, and will likely get a lot more feedback.

Finally was able to locate a 2nd EX-L here in Chicago (everybody has AWD mostly) in the color I wanted-- Glacier Blue. Got it at Castle Honda for $500 off MSRP. Not great but ok.

They were nice and easy to deal with; in and out in two hours, including trade. LOVE the vehicle so far; feels peppy despite the fairly small engine and I'm already getting a good MPG average: 24mpg in 120 miles of mixed highway and Chicago neighborhood driving.

Quiet around town, but my only gripe is that it's kinda loud on the highway (starts at 60 or 65). Combo of engine whine, road/tire noise and wind rush. (Cabin seems secure though: no rattles or wind whistles, etc) Not terrible, but if this is greatly improved over previous generations, they must have been REALLY loud. ;-) Coming from a VERY quiet Passat (and my partner drives a new 325)so I just may be spoiled.

    Otherwise, quite happy.
  • daryll44daryll44 Member Posts: 307
Why would anyone in Chicago NOT get AWD? What you save upfront you'll way more than lose if you trade/sell it in a few years. (If you keep it forever then I concede it doesn't matter.) You will save a bit on gas but what's the point of getting an SUV in the north if not for winter capability?
  • jpbranjpbran Member Posts: 37
Mostly because with the lack of hills and the almost instant plowing and application of salt, I've never even vaguely slid or lost control in the winter here (knock wood). And the few people I know with AWD vehicles said that they've rarely had to use that function (at least for the vehicles where it's manually selected).

And with the Chicago area often posting the US's highest gas prices over the last few years, I'll take any MPG savings I can get.

You may be right about the resale value... May be moving down south this spring anyway, so it might not be as much of an issue.

Another bonus to the CR-V is that it's the first car I've had in a while that didn't require premium gas.

Several Bay Area dealers offering discounts on www.craigslist.com, e.g. this one: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/car/220268688.html
  • gangulyganguly Member Posts: 4
For a 4x4 EX-L in Chicago with no accessories, I am being quoted $25,760 which is about $835 off MSRP.
Is this a good deal? Planning to get it in a few days.
  • gangulyganguly Member Posts: 4
Are dealers required to report if the car is hail damaged? If they are, where can we get this information. Will it be in Carfax?
  • bigbird68bigbird68 Member Posts: 6
Hi, anyone has any buying experience in the bay area?
    I'm looking for a 2007 EX 4WD CR-V
anyone care to share their experience?
    thanks
  • sgrigorysgrigory Member Posts: 17
There is an earlier post, last week, by a guy who bought one from Anderson's in Palo Alto.

He got an EX if I remember.

If you get a good price from a Bay Area dealer, please post it.

I tried Anderson's on the phone and got MSRP as the price. Since I've beaten that by about $900 in Seattle I didn't pursue it.

I live in Seattle but travel to the Bay Area and I could easily fly down, buy one and drive back north.
  • bigbird68bigbird68 Member Posts: 6
I got an offer of $25800 otd from south bay honda, but thats still higher than what the person get from Anderson.
  • ciaschinciaschin Member Posts: 1
Hey. I've never purchased a Honda before. I have 3.5 months before my current auto lease expires, so I'm not in a rush to buy. Was wondering how much you thought prices might go down by mid Jan 2007? Or do you think they might stay steady? The best offer I've gotten on a new 07 CRV EX AWD so far without much bargaining is $24,145 (inc destination). Trying to decide whether to wait a few mos or not. Thanks.
  • daryll44daryll44 Member Posts: 307
Honda is good with managing supply of their vehicles to approximate demand. Prices probably will drop a little between now and Jan. But if demand is strong they might RAISE sticker prices a notch.
  • c_hunterc_hunter Member Posts: 4,487
I have never seen Honda raise sticker prices mid model-year. The dealers may tack on some added bloat, however.

I WENT TO A DEALER IN QUEENS, NY WHERE I HAD PLACED A $500 DEPOSIT DOWN OVER THREE WEEKS AGO FOR A 2007 EX-L, WHEN I ORGINALLY WENT IN TO THE DEALER I TOOK A TEST DRIVE OF AN EX BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY EX-L'S IN WHICH IS WHY I LEFT A DEPOSIT AT THAT TIME SO THEY WOULD GET MY CAR IN. WHEN I WENT THEY STATED THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY PRICING BECAUSE IT WAS WHEN THE CARS FIRST CAME IN AND THEY HAD TWO LIST ONE WITH A HIGHER PRICE AND ANOTHER WITH A LOWER - SO WHEN I WENT BACK TWO NIGHTS AGO TO PICK MY CAR UP THEY START WITH ALL THE CRAP. THEY MARKED THE CAR UP $3300 OVER MSRP AND WANTED $29,995 AND TRIED TO FEED MY SOME BULL ABOUT HIGH MARKET VALUE, I TOLD THEM I WOULD NOT PAY OVER MSRP AND AFTER 2 HOURS OF GOING BACK AND FORTH THEY FINALLY DECIDED THEY WOULD SELL IT TO ME AT MSRP BUT THEN THEY WERE ALSO TRYING TO LOW BALL ME ON MY TRADE-IN OF A 1998 CIVIC WITH LOW MILEAGE, THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANYTHING OVER $2000 SO I DECIDED TO TELL THEM TO CANCEL THE DEAL AND REFUND MY DEPOSIT. WHAT'S FUNNY IS THEY KEEP CALLING ASKING AM I SURE BECAUSE I WILL NOT FIND THE CAR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE AREA AT MSRP. BUT THE JOKE IS ON THEM BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND IT AT AND BELOW MSRP WITH THE HELP OF THE AAA, BJAYS, AND COSTCO AUTO BUYING PROGRAMS - YOU GUYS SHOULD LOOK INTO IT IN YOUR AREA'S AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER IF YOUR IN MY AREA  .

Yikes! Ease up on the CAPS-lock key. ;)
  • cconwillcconwill Member Posts: 14
When I bought my EX last week, I had checked with the AAA buying service, and the best price they could get me was $456 below MSRP and the color I wanted (green tea metallic) was not in stock. I was able to do slightly better ($44) at my neighborhood dealer and get my color preference. Plus, I will get whatever good will there is when you get the car serviced where you bought it.

Read/search some of the previous posts -- not supposed to be available until later in the year. I think a dealer said he couldn't order them until December??

    hello,

has anyone recently purchased a 2006 crv in texas? we are looking at the lx 2wd version. no frills. anyone have experience and where? we are willing to travel for a good deal.

    many thanks!
  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
Go to fightingchance.com and use the kit to fax/email 15-20 dealers the last week of the month (especially since you are willing to travel. The 2wd is a compromised machine compared to the 4wd and the 4wd versions are far more numerous, especially for this late in the 06 model year. The 7% increase in gas mileage isn't worth it and can disappear entirely depending on your driving habits. Just for grins solicit 20 bids on the 07 too and see what they can do.

Given the supply/demand situation you may be able to get a 4wd for $400-500 more than the best deal you can work on a 2wd.

    Happy Hunting

I got a 06 EX 4WD @ 21400, less than 23000 OTD in houston. I bet it is really hard to find 06 LX, actually, from my experience, all left are probably EX, and you better be quick if you are not appealed by the 07 model, there are only a few. There are only three left in the dealer I am going to delivery.
  • gwingeegwingee Member Posts: 54
So how much did you pay for the 07 EX? The invoice for the 2WD is 21732.00...I live in Florida and am interested in the 2 wd EX..what do you think is the best price I can get or should I wait till after Jan to even try?

    20 bids?

The majority of dealers ignore "blast faxes" and for good reason.
  • sgrigorysgrigory Member Posts: 17
It also came with, they tossed them in at the end for no charge, the wheel locks (something I didn't care about), mud flaps (I can live without them) and the roof rack cross bars (which I do need). On the 'mark up' sticker they charge about $575 for all that.

It's silver/black and I bought it in Renton, WA (near Seattle). The process was pretty painless I must admit.

It stickered for $26,500-ish without the items above.

What should I expect to pay for this car? Currently my best quote is out the door 22,5K (sell price is about 20,188). What do you think? Should I wait til the last day of the month...or go into November/December? Or is this a good price? HELP! Thanks!
  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
Not exactly a "blast fax" if it is targeted by Manager name or you use emails but otherwise you are correct .. you will get about 40-60% response rate. Which is the whole idea. Dealers dislike this and by definition the only responses will be from those most eager to sell a car. Saves your time and theirs.
