I urge you to reconsider, and buy the AWD instead of the FWD, however. Especially living where there is snow and ice. It will greatly enhance future resale.
And for the one or two trips to tahoe each year, I'm not sure it's worth the hit in gas mileage.
However, for the better wet control, I still recommend the AWD. As for a mileage hit, 1 MPG surely isn't out of line, for better safety and resale, eh? You must live in a different part of the Bay Area, because when I lived in Berkeley Hills, next to Piedmont, above the tunnel, we had lots. :P
You are allowed to post the dealer name, and I know people within 200 miles will be wanting to know.
They didn't try most of the typical little tricks.
What I did was, walk in informed. I told the sales person I had done my research, knew invoice prices etc.
However, I also said I'll be reasonable and understand it's a new model and that I won't pay MSRP and won't ask for Invoice either.
We negotiated from there, without hassles landed at 23,850.
Financing went flawlessly. I got a really great rate and they didn't try to pull tricks with that either. Again, I was prepared with an offer from my insurance who also does financing.
The entire deal went very quick, very professional and pleasant. This was my best car purchase to date.
Oh also, they have a demo CR-V EX-L that they'll let you test drive alone, again without hassles. I took it out for 20 minutes, no problem. Other dealers are a PITA when it comes to "unsupervised" test drives.
I give this transaction a 9/10.
Or buy the speakers from Crutchfield with the harness adaptor, and install your self. Much cheaper than letting some kid at Best buy messing with your new car. You will need a harness adaptor to connect aftermarket speaker, which Crutchfield gives you for free, and Best Buy probably not oging to use, and will just clip your wires.
Of course, the kid at Best Buy is just as likely to break something as you are. If you do it yourself, you know what's broken and probably won't be too hard on yourself.
Also, at least if BB breaks something, they have to fix it (it's in their guarantee).
My bottom line price paid before my trade-in, but this price includes 5% sales tax, destination, registration/title, and all extra fees was 24,798.00. This was at Hyannis Honda, in Cape Cod, Hyannis, MA. Picking up vehicle in 2 days. Everything has gone smooth so far. Seems to have knocked off 1,000 from base price, plus installing new roof racks for free.
You'll give those guys who keep posting about the CRV costing $30K + a hissy fit! :P
All in all. I was very pleased to get my price and a good trade-in. :shades:
So far, a pleasant experience - we'll see how the delivery goes...........

This is my first time buying a new car. How much bargain can I do with this price. Any others things to watch out for.
Thanks
For those of you who have purchased new CR-V's using Honda finance, what is the "normal" interest rate is for a 60 month loan (or any other term)? I have good credit.
Thanks
My insurance (State Farm) offered 6.5% loans so I had that as a bargaining tool.
EDIT: I did put 10K cash down, don't know if that made a difference in the rate. I don't think it should.
Here's the question. If my CU loan is now on backburner bec car is not yet made, how would appplying for Honda loan work in turn? Will I risk getting a worse rate by going that route? Does it make sense to also apply for loan when i still don't have that car yet?
Thanks!
If Honda beats 6.5%, you go with Honda, otherwise CU. How would the Honda pre-application undo the eligibility for the CU loan? I can't see it.
If it's a timing problem, you could always apply for Honda and go with them, then re-finance through the CU. People do that all the time.
1. I paid $1100.00 for 7 yrs/100,000 miles extended warranty covergae honda offers. Is it a fair price? Initially he quoted me $1895.00 but later reduced the price. Is it a fair deal? Do we really need Honda care?
2. I paid $200.00 for ResistAll, the fabric sealant/paint sealant/leather sealant for car seats, floor mats, paints etc. with 5 year warranty. Is it a fair deal? I asked the sales guy if I can do that later (if I can able to find a better deal from other place), he told I need to get that done today, as it will be considered used car when it goes out and the ResistAll price will be higher if done at later point.
7/100K extended warranty is a fair price. You never need an extended warranty unless and until something major happens after 36,000 miles. If you didn't get it, you kick yourself in the [non-permissible content removed]. If you get it, and nothing happens, you kick yourself in the [non-permissible content removed] for paying the $1,000. :P
$200 for Scotch Guard, well they made $125 profit on it, but at least the coffee stains will come out easier.
You can get the warranty online for less, and you don't have to purchase it until just before the standard warranty expires. If you are bound and determined to get the warranty, this is a good way to do it. However, if you buy it at the time of vehicle purchase, you can probably roll the cost into the loan, which may be important to you.
As to after-market warranties...I'd probably skip it on a Honda. THAT'S WHY YOU BUY A HONDA! That being said, I've had VERY good experience with WARRANTYDIRECT.COM on two different Ford Explorers (that, unfortunately, do generate warranty repairs). Their pricing is good, the claims service has been great and without hassle. They pay any licensed repair shop by credit card over the phone. The one I got is "exclusionary"...meaning if it doesn't specifically exclude it, then it's covered.
Be sure you are going to keep the vehicle a long time, however. Because you probably won't need it otherwise, and probably not even if you DO keep a Honda a long time.
Good Luck MNF

After some negotiation, they lowered the price of the etched windows and gave me a good price for the lifetime tinted windows. Try as I did, they would not do the deal without the etched windows, which I do not even want.
So I am going to say that I made the deal for $370 over invoice and leave it at that. I am happy with the deal at that price level, so I guess we have a win-win. I hope that the delivery goes smoothly.
Before going for the EX 4WD, I offered 24,500 for the EX-L and they told me no deal. They wanted 25,000 at least.
So, good going!
Which dealer(s) did you receive that quote from?
Please advise. Thanks.
