I got it from Capitol (internet sales) for 2WD-EXL and it was mentioned in the mail that price is valid till 10/31/2006, end of month sale?
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
    Most likely. :)

I urge you to reconsider, and buy the AWD instead of the FWD, however. Especially living where there is snow and ice. It will greatly enhance future resale.
  • smashmakersmashmaker Member Posts: 4
There is no snow or ice, or much rain for that matter in the bay area.

And for the one or two trips to tahoe each year, I'm not sure it's worth the hit in gas mileage.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Sorry...was looking at the other guy's response to you, he's in Ohio.

However, for the better wet control, I still recommend the AWD. As for a mileage hit, 1 MPG surely isn't out of line, for better safety and resale, eh? You must live in a different part of the Bay Area, because when I lived in Berkeley Hills, next to Piedmont, above the tunnel, we had lots. :P

TODAY PAID 24,800 OUT THE DOOR FOR 4WD EX. WITH SPLASH GUARDS AND WHEEL LOCKS. THIS WAS IN CHARLOTTE NC (WE HAVE 3% TAX). CAR WAS ON THE LOT.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Dang! Sounds like a very good deal!

You are allowed to post the dealer name, and I know people within 200 miles will be wanting to know. ;)
  • hansmuffhansmuff Member Posts: 15
Yes, that price included destination, but not tax&title. I thought it was fair, seeing how it's a new model and comparing this with the edmunds TMV price.
  • hansmuffhansmuff Member Posts: 15
Roberts gave me a really positive experience.
They didn't try most of the typical little tricks.

What I did was, walk in informed. I told the sales person I had done my research, knew invoice prices etc.
However, I also said I'll be reasonable and understand it's a new model and that I won't pay MSRP and won't ask for Invoice either.
We negotiated from there, without hassles landed at 23,850.

Financing went flawlessly. I got a really great rate and they didn't try to pull tricks with that either. Again, I was prepared with an offer from my insurance who also does financing.

The entire deal went very quick, very professional and pleasant. This was my best car purchase to date.

Oh also, they have a demo CR-V EX-L that they'll let you test drive alone, again without hassles. I took it out for 20 minutes, no problem. Other dealers are a PITA when it comes to "unsupervised" test drives.

    I give this transaction a 9/10.

Bought my '07 Honda CRV 2WD EX-L 10/5 at Crown Honda for $25,050 out the door (tax, tag, title...everything). Had financing already arranged. Great experience. Hendrix Honda will not negotiate - at all - whatsoever - stay away!
  • blueiedgodblueiedgod Member Posts: 2,798
He recommended some Kenwood speakers that would improve sound about 40-50% in his estimation. $59 per pair plus $40x2 for installation, so about $200 in total. MUCH less than getting Honda to upgrade the speakers.

Or buy the speakers from Crutchfield with the harness adaptor, and install your self. Much cheaper than letting some kid at Best buy messing with your new car. You will need a harness adaptor to connect aftermarket speaker, which Crutchfield gives you for free, and Best Buy probably not oging to use, and will just clip your wires.
  • varmintvarmint Member Posts: 6,326
Just be careful about taking apart the dash and door panels. If you break a tab, hook, or some other connector, you can end up with a rattle that'll ruin sound quality as much as the bad speakers.

Of course, the kid at Best Buy is just as likely to break something as you are. If you do it yourself, you know what's broken and probably won't be too hard on yourself. ;)
  • c_hunterc_hunter Member Posts: 4,487
Having seen their work, I would say the punks at BB/CC are *more* likely to break something or do a lousy job!
  • phisherphisher Member Posts: 175
Ya but if you buy the stereo from either their willing to break it for free :)
  • jpbranjpbran Member Posts: 37
A lot of that is certainly true, but the same speakers from Crutchfield cost twice as much. And, I did an install using Crutchfield and their instructions/accessories several years back. NOTHING fit correctly and it took weeks to get them to cough up the correct parts. (And weeks to get them to realize that they'd sent the wrong accessories.)

Also, at least if BB breaks something, they have to fix it (it's in their guarantee).

Yes, and it is a lifetime warranty on their work.... ;)

Looking to buy a 2007 EX-L by the end of the year, but not finding any good deals in Houston. Has anyone done well with a Houston area dealer? I am willing to go to Dallas or Austin or San Antonio for a good price (better than $500 less than MSRP. Thanks in advance.

New 07 CRV 4WD EX (mid-range model) with roof racks.....
My bottom line price paid before my trade-in, but this price includes 5% sales tax, destination, registration/title, and all extra fees was 24,798.00. This was at Hyannis Honda, in Cape Cod, Hyannis, MA. Picking up vehicle in 2 days. Everything has gone smooth so far. Seems to have knocked off 1,000 from base price, plus installing new roof racks for free.
  • rbsolomorbsolomo Member Posts: 3
I just got the same car in MD and paid 24,400 OTD, so I am relieved that the comparisons are similar.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
    Sush!!

You'll give those guys who keep posting about the CRV costing $30K + a hissy fit! :P
  • kfc49kfc49 Member Posts: 1
I live in Plymouth, MA and just starting to make a decision on buying a CRV EXL (no nav). This seems like a good price for an EX. Did you negotiate in person or over the net? Did they just throw in the roof racks to close the deal? Did you check out other MA dealers? Thanks.

I bought my new 2007 CRV 4WD EX for 1000 less than list. The price quoted on the internet was $23,700. The price quoted from the dealership was $24,695...all in. I got kelly blue book for the trade-in as well.

All in all. I was very pleased to get my price and a good trade-in. :shades:

I purchased a 2007 EX-L 4WD in Green Tea Metallic for $851.00 off of list if you account for the $149.00 non-negotiable doc fee. $25544.00 + tax, license transfer, and title. I have only driven the CR-V about 150 miles but it is sweet. It replaces my 2005 gas eating Nissan Titan 4x4 Crew Cab Pickup truck.

I just purchased a 2007 CRV EX-L (4WD white/gray leather) from Honda of Clear Lake, Houston, TX for $99 over invoice this week end (confirmed numbers using Edmunds pricing). No hassle - over the internet and phone. The vehicle is in route and should be at the dealer in two weeks. Beware of dealer add ons - I made it a part of the contract that no extras (VIN etch in windows $210, plus numerous other possible high profit bolt-ons they always try to install, and window tints $350, etc. would void the deal). They agreed and came to my house to deliver the paperwork!!
So far, a pleasant experience - we'll see how the delivery goes...........

This looks like the deal I need. I would appreciate it if you could provide the name of your salesperson in hopes that I can get the same deal. And please let me know how your deal works out, what adders they try to stick you with, etc. I live in Katy, TX.

I have been quoted $20,800 for 07 LX AWD in Milwauke,WI and Chicago, IL area. Is this a good price ?

This is my first time buying a new car. How much bargain can I do with this price. Any others things to watch out for.

    Thanks

Honda is NOT running an interest rate special on the CRV right now.

For those of you who have purchased new CR-V's using Honda finance, what is the "normal" interest rate is for a 60 month loan (or any other term)? I have good credit.

    Thanks
  • hansmuffhansmuff Member Posts: 15
My dealership offered financing through a local credit union. I got a 6.05% APR for 48/60 (i picked 48) which is pretty competitive.
My insurance (State Farm) offered 6.5% loans so I had that as a bargaining tool.

EDIT: I did put 10K cash down, don't know if that made a difference in the rate. I don't think it should.
  • ptsmommyptsmommy Member Posts: 15
I've already negotiated for my CRV and it is "on order" to be built sometime this month, I am told. I've been approved by employer CU for 6.5% for 60 month car loan. It was suggested by salesperson that I go ahead and now apply to see if Honda financing can beat that rate.

Here's the question. If my CU loan is now on backburner bec car is not yet made, how would appplying for Honda loan work in turn? Will I risk getting a worse rate by going that route? Does it make sense to also apply for loan when i still don't have that car yet?

    Thanks!
  • c_hunterc_hunter Member Posts: 4,487
Last time I applied for a Honda loan online, I got approval the next day and the confirmation e-mail said to check with the dealer for available rates. For some reason, Honda is not listing rates online from what I can tell. You should be able to get an idea what the rates are from the dealer (just assume you're in the top credit tier). I wouldn't pre-apply until you know what the rates are.
  • hansmuffhansmuff Member Posts: 15
I don't think you can really lose by pre-applying.
If Honda beats 6.5%, you go with Honda, otherwise CU. How would the Honda pre-application undo the eligibility for the CU loan? I can't see it.
If it's a timing problem, you could always apply for Honda and go with them, then re-finance through the CU. People do that all the time.

I bought my new 2007 CRV 4WD EXL for $24700. I got kelly blue book (Condition selected was fair) for the trade-in. This is in Philadelphia, PA.

What did you trade, and what was the CRV's bottom-line price before the trade was applied :confuse:

I bought the 2007 Honda CR-V LX 2WD for $19843.00 invoice price and $21733.00 with T/T. Sounds a good deal? From what the other email quotes and bargaining these last few days, found this one was the most cheapest of all. It is in the bay area, CA.

    1. I paid $1100.00 for 7 yrs/100,000 miles extended warranty covergae honda offers. Is it a fair price? Initially he quoted me $1895.00 but later reduced the price. Is it a fair deal? Do we really need Honda care?

    2. I paid $200.00 for ResistAll, the fabric sealant/paint sealant/leather sealant for car seats, floor mats, paints etc. with 5 year warranty. Is it a fair deal? I asked the sales guy if I can do that later (if I can able to find a better deal from other place), he told I need to get that done today, as it will be considered used car when it goes out and the ResistAll price will be higher if done at later point.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
It seems a very good price on the car.

7/100K extended warranty is a fair price. You never need an extended warranty unless and until something major happens after 36,000 miles. If you didn't get it, you kick yourself in the [non-permissible content removed]. If you get it, and nothing happens, you kick yourself in the [non-permissible content removed] for paying the $1,000. :P

$200 for Scotch Guard, well they made $125 profit on it, but at least the coffee stains will come out easier. ;)
  • c_hunterc_hunter Member Posts: 4,487
Generally, anything the dealer offers is profit for them, including protectant, warranties, etc. You need to learn to stay away from this stuff. Extended warranties overwhemingly favor the seller, not the customer, and various consumer guides have warned customers against them for years. Not just for cars, but for appliances, electronics, etc. It's a cash cow for the seller and manufacturer. That said, they do pay off in a small number of cases (like about 2%). Hondas are one of the brands where it's probably not going to be needed.

You can get the warranty online for less, and you don't have to purchase it until just before the standard warranty expires. If you are bound and determined to get the warranty, this is a good way to do it. However, if you buy it at the time of vehicle purchase, you can probably roll the cost into the loan, which may be important to you.
  • daryll44daryll44 Member Posts: 307
Wrong! $200 for Scotchguard? They made a $195 profit. You can buy cans of the stuff for between $5 and $10 at Lowe's or Home Depot.

As to after-market warranties...I'd probably skip it on a Honda. THAT'S WHY YOU BUY A HONDA! That being said, I've had VERY good experience with WARRANTYDIRECT.COM on two different Ford Explorers (that, unfortunately, do generate warranty repairs). Their pricing is good, the claims service has been great and without hassle. They pay any licensed repair shop by credit card over the phone. The one I got is "exclusionary"...meaning if it doesn't specifically exclude it, then it's covered.

Be sure you are going to keep the vehicle a long time, however. Because you probably won't need it otherwise, and probably not even if you DO keep a Honda a long time.

What are people in Indiana paying for the 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L with 4WD? First time I've bought a car on my own. Have a local offer, an internet offer from another state where I visit frequently and know what I want to offer, but don't know if it is fair.
  • mnfmnf Member Posts: 405
Not bad but you can do a little bit better here also NEVER NEVER get a 3rd party warranty if possible.

    Good Luck MNF

$24700 was the bottom line price for the CRV EXL 4WD. (Before Trade In) Tax and Tag was extra.

needanswer, go to Edmunds.com and select Honda, and input what you are wanting. It asks for your Zip Code, and will display a pretty accurate guide as to what others have been paying for the same things. ;)

I should note that the Edmunds TMV prices are usually a lot higher than what people pay in my area. So I don't know how useful they are. I certainly wouldn't want to pay *more* than Edmunds TMV, that's for sure!
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
    Exactly. :)
  • 01redz0601redz06 Member Posts: 21
I just returned from purchasing a 2007 EX-L 2WD for Honda of Clear Lake. They told me that they would accept $100 over list cost before I ever went to their dealership. After getting there and agreeing to buy the vehicle at $100 over, I found that although the inbound vehicle has no anti-theft etching of the windows from the factory, that HOCL insists that this be included in the price. Clearly this is just a way to improve their margin.

After some negotiation, they lowered the price of the etched windows and gave me a good price for the lifetime tinted windows. Try as I did, they would not do the deal without the etched windows, which I do not even want.

So I am going to say that I made the deal for $370 over invoice and leave it at that. I am happy with the deal at that price level, so I guess we have a win-win. I hope that the delivery goes smoothly.
  • hansmuffhansmuff Member Posts: 15
    That's a very good price.
Before going for the EX 4WD, I offered 24,500 for the EX-L and they told me no deal. They wanted 25,000 at least.
    So, good going!
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
So, you turned down paying an extra $500 bucks for leather seats and all the other goodies? :surprise:
  • thkcarsthkcars Member Posts: 5
This quote doesn't seem too bad @ $1,595 off of MSRP, given (caveated here) that I have been quoted straight MSRP or $100 off from 4 dealers today in the Chicago area for a EX-L AWD unit. That pricing, obviously, is not acceptable.

Which dealer(s) did you receive that quote from?

    Please advise. Thanks.
