We've just got to have dark tint here in Texas...the summers are way too hot.

The Armada has been a great vehicle so far- I'm at around 2600 miles, but the build quality far exceeds my old Chevrolet. After owning nothing but American cars all these years, I guess I'm finally converted to a Japanese brand. They really do make better vehicles.
  • shamahlshamahl Member Posts: 13
What percentage of tint is that? Is it 5%
  • adjmcloonadjmcloon Member Posts: 70
Not sure..It came with a medium tint on the back, and none on the front two windows. I had them put a medium shade on the back thus equaling limo and went with the darkest allowable in Texas on the front two which I think is like 35% or 45%.

  • shamahlshamahl Member Posts: 13
So the front windows are not as dark as the rear. The front look dark but that might be due to the fact of less light coming in from rear. 35% is smoke and that is lighter than what your windows look.
  • adjmcloonadjmcloon Member Posts: 70
Sorry Shamahl, I'm just not sure about the percentage. It may be darker than 35%. The only thing I can tell you is that I'm at the legal limits for what is allowed in Texas.

    Thanks,
    Nathan
  • shamahlshamahl Member Posts: 13
Is the yeah to the front windows are lighter than the rear? And thanks for the info, pics and btw nice ride.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It looks darker than 35%. Maybe that's just the photos.

I have 35% on my Forester, you can still easily see through it.

20% is pretty dark, you may have to squint to see inside. Most factory tint is about this dark, or close.

    5% is limo tint, basically.

  • adjmcloonadjmcloon Member Posts: 70
The front two are definitely lighter than the back. The back is essentially limo.

I found out the front two are indeed tinted at 35%.

  • proffsionlproffsionl Member Posts: 5
In Texas, law prescribes that you cannot have a tint on the front windows darker than 35%. The back windows can be up to 5%, but there is no way I could see out of that at night. The factory glass in the rear looks a bit like a 20% tint. So, the front windows will look a bit lighter in the front with the 35% film (what I have on mine).

I was just told by my dealer that Nissan is not accepting any new orders for the Armada. I ordered mine (Loaded Galaxy LE, with Graphite interior) last month, waited until the dealer's monthly ordering window (i guess they can only order once a month), and am now being told Nissan is not filling any orders until existing inventory levels move. My dealer said they would try and locate the vehicle, or return my deposit if they can't get it. Anyone else running into this?

BTW, Nice ride adjmcloon - Where can you get a brushed aluminum kit?
  • sub9904sub9904 Member Posts: 72
Could somebody please describe what it feels like? I'd like to compare it with what I felt when I test drove the Armada I'd like to buy. Thanks.
  • rparnellrparnell Member Posts: 27
The noise you heard on your test drive was resonance. Ear popping - pressure on ears. Some people are definitely more sensitive to this than others, though the ones most immune to it tend to be in Nissan sales.......

The most extreme version sounds like a helicopter in the car - the same as the sound you get in many cars when the back windows are down and the fronts raised.

Some contributors have had this noise fixed, some are still struggling. Nissan do not appear to have issued a TSB yet - maybe they haven't confirmed the cure.
  • adjmcloonadjmcloon Member Posts: 70
Anybody heard anything on the supposed TSB coming out covering the resonance issue? I know it's been discussed frequently here, but it's been a couple of days. :)

Drove my Armada tonight and definitely heard it..really the first time I've noticed since I got it so maybe it's getting worse. It's more of a pressure thing than a sound I noticed..if it is a sound it's very low- probably all the way down to 15-20 hertz which is below some peoples' range of hearing.

I read a post a while back about someone actually speaking to a Nissan engineer- are you around?

hey guys thought ide let you know whats going on with my armada, well after tearing down the head liner twice even following strict orders from the engineer who came down from nissan it still resonates, ive just about had it with this lemon and pursuing legal action to have nissan buy back the truck, ive given them plenty of time to fix this issue and all attempts failed, even with the expoy on the roof supports i still get pressure build up inside the cabin making my ears pop badly, ill give you an example of what happened when i got back my armada from the 2nd tsb, driving maybe 60 miles i live in the philadelphia area on interstate 76 from my home my ears popped 5 times driving home, when you go over even the slightest bumps at highway speeds you get that flutter noise from the roof, like i said ive had it and very frustrated for sure with this product from nissan, even when the armada was ready to be picked up the service manager told me it didn't fix the problem so i knew i was going to still have this issue with the resonance, ill keep you guys posted as to what happens next with the buy back, i will not be driving this truck either until they buy it back, im sick to my stomach for sure, and sadly i paid for the armada in full so hopefully i wont lose much when they take it back. and just to sum up what was done to my armada, the head liner was taken apart twice, causing even more damage to the head liner and trim pieces, i have even more rattles now than i did before, thats why i know having all these issues with the truck and having a great dealership backing me up nissan shouldn't give me a problem with buying back this lemon
  • sub9904sub9904 Member Posts: 72
Sorry to hear about your Armada. I'm holding off buying until the problem is resolved at the factory. The one I like I'm pretty sure had the problem too.

Coincidentally my Suburban had some mechanical "issues" so I'm just going to drop a new engine in it. Going to have a bigger cam put in. Think it'll have something around 330hp when it's done. That will make it a fun car to drive around. So I guess it wasn't meant to be to get the Armada just yet. I really hope Nissan gets the problem resolved soon. It's still tops on my list. Good luck chasman.
  • messmess Member Posts: 26
I'm having the resonance issues too. They were much worse when the vehicle was new.(2000 miles logged) Maybe the properties of the flimsy roof skin are changing because they have been flexed over and over again(consistent with known properties of metal to work harden). It is definitely not gone though. Why doesn't Nissan just come up with a roof rack attachment that can be bonded externally(not tearing up the interior). This would save them money from the service side. Keep all updates coming. These issues are big enough Nissan will fix them..they have to or they will have a lot of lemon buy backs. I hope the resonance has not damaged my low frequency hearing (thus the apparent decrease in resonance). Mess

Good idea. It's so tall noone would even notice them. Really.

Sorry to hear about the immense problems your Armada has caused ya. I sure hope the buy back goes well for ya.
  • chasmanz28chasmanz28 Member Posts: 109
thanks for all the replys i take them to heart, hopefully i can get out of this mess soon, well soon see if nissan steps up to the plate, i just wished i waited a little longer before i went ahead and bought the armada so fast, i did post on this board too and read all the replys but none had any issues with the resonance until i took my armada home figures, i wonder how many armada owners have this issue of the resonance and dont even know they have a problem, they would sure love this board for all the information

--- I hope I don't get billed for all of the space I am taking up ;P ---

For those who are looking, the issues I have are almost expected, considering. But now that she has broken in (1,600 miles), she has seemed to loosen up just enough to be extremely fun and yet comfortable to drive. Her acceleration has also seemed to increase, I can definitely see a 0-60 in 7 sec. claim being accurate ;)

For some reason, I am still getting around 11 mpg, but every few weeks seems to add a bit more (at first, I was getting 8-9). But then again, if you can afford such a vehicle, gas money most likely won't be too much of a concern.

I have taken her "mudding" and driven her on every terrain I can find around here, and she has handled EVERYTHING I have thrown at her. The DVC is wonderful, almost emulates having 4x4. Almost...

By the way, I had to do an "emergency braking maneuver" to avoid an idiot who pulled in front of me ON THE HIGHWAY going 35 mph (while I was in the fast lane going about 65). I pressed hard, no slip detection, no ABS kicking in, no skidding. A simple, quick, extremely controlled brake.

In comparison to my previous '96 Grand Prix, my full-sized SUV has less than half of the body roll! I can take turns (although not reccomended...) going 15-20 mph faster than my car could... but then again there is a large gap in age and technology there. Impressive, nonetheless.

If you can deal with the minor (and for some, major) warranty repairs, which has been well worth it, this vehicle should not get passed by. If possible, I would recommend test-driving one that is already broken in, although this will be much easier in a few years... For mine, anyway, there is an extreme difference in overall driving experience (excluding the "getting used to" phase, of course).
  • messmess Member Posts: 26
Are you kidding 8-9 mpg? Must be some very aggressive driving going on. I have used mine for about 2000 miles now, average about 15.5 mpg. Nearly all driving is in town, maybe 1/4 of the miles on the highway. I've been wanting to run through a full tank of gas on the highway only with minimal spirited driving....but just can't control myself with the drag race at the stop lights and on-ramps. Mess
  • dboogiedboogie Member Posts: 71
i'm getting about 11.4 mpg on my Armada...no aggressive driving at all...all driving has been done around town (no highway).....1250 miles on the odometer. the BEST i've ever gotten is 12.3 and that was just ONE time! Offroadnarmada says he's NOW getting about 11 and i'm certainly glad i'm not the only one getting pathetic mileage :O)

how anyone buying a 5000 lb. vehicle with a 305 HP V8 can ever be taken seriously complaining about gas mileage.

    Hey all,

Regarding questions about dash kits, etc. I got my brushed aluminum dash kit at http://www.wooddash.com Good service and product for sure.

The ventvisors, bug shield and wheels came from ebay..the one, the only.

Changed the pics around on cardomain if anybody cares:

    http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/547845

Also, I found a link where Nissan posts their TSB's. This might be helpful if, like me, you're waiting for the resonance TSB to come out. Check it:

when i made my statement about the gas mileage i'm getting, i was not COMPLAINING about it. i replied to "Mess's" post only to show that eventhough my style of driving seems to be similar to his, my mileage wasn't as good as his and that a person doesn't have to drive aggressively in this vehicle to get my type of mileage.
If i wanted to get "exceptional" gas mileage in my vehicle, buying an SUV wouldn't have been a consideration for me. I love my Armada and I know the mileage isn't gonna be the greatest. I"m just making a statement about it. thats all. I don't know if you noticed it or not, but i did put a smiley face at the end of my other post which was meant to show that I'm being lighthearted about the entire gas mileage thing.
  • llajumpvidllajumpvid Member Posts: 76
I have a 2000 Xterra that started out in the 12mpg range and took almost 15,000 before I crept up to a whopping 15-16mpg. The best I've ever got before I quit checking was 17mpg..doesn't matter if highway or city by more than 1mpg. I can't wait to give up the mile or two per gallon to be able to step on it and actually feel the acceleration! (I'm sure the first $50+ fill up will sting though..just have to remind myself I'm putting gas in a tank almost twice the size as the Xterra)
  • shamahlshamahl Member Posts: 13
Do you mind posting pix of your interior so we can see the damage or does it hurt too bad to see it since you said you will stop driving it.
  • berisimusberisimus Member Posts: 31
Nathan, I saw the pics of your ride. Nice job. I am interested in the brushed aluminum dash kit. Any pictures of yours? I am familiar with the company you mentioned. They just came out with a 3-D molded kit for the Armada/Titan. Did you purchase the flat kit that has been on the market for a while? I would like to hear from someone who has seen or installed the molded kit. I have seen installation of this company's flat brushed aluminum kit in an Armada. Very nice, especially the chrome shifter. There is also a nice kit out from Sherwood dash. I have not seen one installed but I liked their notice to detail. They are the only kit I have seen that actually labels the controls just like OEM. Right now I am choosing between their flat kit and the wooddash molded kit, unless I find that the molded kit looks terrible, in which case I am back with the wooddash flat kit which I know that looks great. Any feedback from the forum is appreciated.

i wasnt targeting you personally...just everyone in general.

i had a lady looking at a titan earlier and she saw the mileage numbers on the sticker.

"im sorry, but i need a truck that gets AT LEAST 25 MPG"

i told her she would probably have to wait a number of years, since they dont exist. even a 2WD regular cab 5-speed 4-cyl. ranger is rated at 19 city, 24 hwy.

im just venting here...seems kinda like the people that complain about adult entertainment while sitting at home with a varitable library of it.

ide rather not post pics of my armada, but i can tell you when they took apart the head liner they damage almost every trim piece that they took off, not really an issue because they were going to replace the entire head liner and trim pieces anyway if the TSB worked, but since it didn't why bother since ill be getting rid of it hopefully soon, and yes im not going to drive it anymore because i know the more mileage i put on the truck the less amount ill be getting back from nissan, right now it has 3000 miles on it and will stay there until i get rid of it, its sad i spent all this money on a truck and cant drive it
  • jabcpajabcpa Member Posts: 11
Despite the recurring problem identified as resonance (my Armada also has it), does anyone find it strange the the TSB to fix it has not yet been posted by Nissan? I wonder if they ever will. This has been discussed here for months now. Not to question anyone, but seems strange to me.

I've got about 3400 miles on mine now, and have to say I have noticed a dramatic increase in mileage the past thousand miles- not earth shattering, but I do feel I'm getting much closer to the advertised mileage than what I got the first thousand miles. I also have been burning mid grade since I bought it (I know, I know, it only needs regular) and I know there's a batch of engineering students out there that would love to debate whether or not different grades burn faster or slower, or if the grades are even REALLY different LOL
So far, so good with everything else, a couple minor issues, the headliner moulding across the back loosened up on one end on a particularly nasty trip through pothole hell (My chevy would have shed a fender or other major body part on this trip, so not really concerned) and my moonroof whistles quite a bit on the highway. BUT, It doesn't leak, and I would rather live with it than have it adjusted and risk creating an issue with pressure, resonance, etc. So far, brakes still seem great, I go down a steep mountain on a daily basis (Work in the valley dude LOL)I melted the rotors on my Chevy within 5000 miles due to this commute (and MR Goodwrench can stick his rotors where the sun don't shine)...I'm going to have them checked anyways next time I'm in for service. (incidentally, the mountain is also why I burn mid grade, my Chevy always knocked going up the mountain unless I burned super, guess i'll have to try regular this summer when gas is 3 bucks a gallon) At this point, I so not hear any clicking coming from the rear end, kinda hard to tell with all that exhaust kinkling from the heat this monster generates, but i'm still listening...
Chasman, I'm so sorry to hear about all you have dealt with. I came to Nissan from GM to extracate myself from this type of nonsense. It's a shame that something so vital could be overlooked during development on an otherwise impressive vehicle. I wonder if there is much talk about this on the Infiniti QX56 board. I'm also wondering what this is going to do to the trade in value down the road. Guess that's all I have to say right now <looking back at the epic i just wrote hehe>

Well maybe my engine is just broken in a little earlier than everyone elses. Even with this tank of in town< 45mpg driving, I've reached 204 miles and the needle is just slightly above half. I hope it is not because I bought the unadvertised less than 305 hp Armada (sorry to all those RX8 peeps). Out!

Am very excited...naturally concerned about the rear hub/resonance issues...will cover w/ dealer tomorrow. This stuff really is to be expected in 1st year releases, despite all QC. Actually this is my 3rd 1st year production motorcar: 1990 Z, 2001 525ia (new 2.5 ltr. that year),and now comes: "The American Army"...oops I was quoting Patton on tube last nite...The American Armada! Like I said..can you tell I'm excited? Think its 1st roadtrip will be to the Eric Clapton Blues Fest in Dallas this summer. By the way..$283 under dealer invoice.

I've been following this board since inception. I really feel for your plight and appreciate your efforts to inform others. My attentions went from the Armada to Infiniti's QX56. Now I wouldn't go near either.

I test rode a car in its first year, then ordered the next year's without taking a test ride. I needed a pillow to drive it cause the seat backs were different. Pretty dumb? Got nowhere with the dealer and Ford. I went to an upholsterer to put extra padding, saw the velcro strips hadn't been placed right, etc. Then I found another dealer for service. They were more than twice as far, but what a difference.

Any chance of someone recommending a different dealer? I recall a few others with better luck with a resonance fix. That your interior was damaged does not speak well for the dealership trying to fix the resonance.

People handle things differently. I tend to get down on myself if I think I should have known better. Once more, thanks for the posts and good luck.

    Roboring,
Curious on if you heard anything about your order? Mine was suppose to be here yesterday and I finally got ahold of someone at the dealership who said they would check monday on what the status is. I hope after all this waiting it doesn't end up being like some of the problemsome ones!

Well, I sent the Armada to the shop for the bad shake in the brakes. They said the rotors were badly warped and turned them. I hate to do this since I only have 5,000 miles. It started to shake at around 3,500 or so but got worse over time. The bad thing is out of the 3,500 at least 2,000 were from a long trip in which the brakes aren't used that much. Anyway it is fine now. I am not so confident though in how it will hold up. It seems this is a problem as there have been a few posts already with the same problem.

When I take off, I hear a popping noise but to me it sounds like it is in the front end. I know these can fool you.

I also have a loud noise (sorta like a helicopter) that comes from under the hood after the Armada heats up. My wife noticed it. I thought it was the fans kicking in and hitting on something but the dealer said they checked and nothing was wrong. They couldn't get it to do it. They said when the fans came on there was no unusual noise. So it looks like I have something else to deal with.

I have had a bad rattle that sounded like it was coming from the steering column area but after the second time in the shop they found it. They didn't fix it but found it. It is the overhead console. (the front section) The reason why they didn't fix it is they have me another one on order since mine is broker around the first mounting screw. (first pop up compartment) I don't think this is causing it because if I hold the light it quits.

Now for the resonance. I didn't have it at first and I really listened. Or thought I did. Maybe it is something you just don't know what to listen for or hear. Anyway it is constant now. I drive down the street and it does it over any slight bump. Heavy winds, it is horrible. The only way I can describe it is sorta a pressure sound that bumps. It is not a solid sound, just a skip then sound. Another way to describe it is when you open a window on most any vehicle, you get this noise like the wind is buffering and holding you back. Same sound.

I told the dealer and they said I am the first to talk about this and they didn't have a clue what to look for. I told them about reading on Edmunds but they said they hear all the time and if I wanted to print something off, they will look at it. I will do this next time.

I do like the vehicle overall though. Stiff ride and does have some rattles but a nice vehicle. I am just upset that it has so many problems. Nothing that can't be fixed but if they keep giving it back to me with nothing done, then what is the point?

My take on the resonance thing is every vehicle probably has it but you just have to tune to it at first. If you are looking, just know it will be there. I really didn't notice mine until around the 3,000 mile or so mark as I have posted before.

Also there is a defect in the drivers seat design. If you sit on the edge of the seat, it will start to close the back in on you. A friend also has one and he has complained about it and hates it. I had warned him. So if you slide in and are sitting on the edge for a second, the controls will activate. Try it and I am sure you will find the same thing.

Sorry for the long post but I think this answers a few questions others have had. I would wait until some issues are worked about before buying or know going in that you will have some and you will at least feel better about the purchase that you know in advance.
  • bowke28bowke28 Member Posts: 2,185
that ordered your vehicle, it is a common problem for salespeople and managers to "overpromise" delivery dates. be patient. your vehicle will arrive.

(unless you were trying to time it to coincide with an event...lol)

thanks for the kind words, yeah if you followed this entire board then for sure you know what im going through since ive been on this board for a while now, any yes even though im having bad luck with my armada other people should now about the resonance issue, its a very serious issue indeed as all of you know by now, i just dont know what else to do my armada is torn up so badly inside head liner more rattles and to still have the resonance problem i hope you can understand my reasoning for nissan to buy back this lemon, even my service manager knows what im going through and feels sorry for me, as a matter of fact he was the one that told me about the program that makes nissan buy back lemons that cant be fixed, ill keep you guys posted as to what happens next, nissan should be contacting me very shortly within 30 days to hopefully refund my money, and as far as bringing it to another dealership, this dealership where i bought my armada from are first class, even though they damaged the trim pieces and head liner if the 2nd TSB worked they were going to order brand new head liner and trim pieces, and George is on my side all the way on getting back my money after 2 failed attempts to fix the resonance and having an engineer come down here to give his 2 cents nissan doesn't have any reason not to give me back a full refund
  • adjmcloonadjmcloon Member Posts: 70
Funny you mention the driver seat defect. The first time I drove the Armada I sat on the edge to slide in, and the seat went forward 'all by itself'! My salesman was embarrassed. Not a big deal to me because I'm aware, but it definitely sucks.

I'll be posting pics of my aluminum dash kit on cardomain soon...check out "Nathan's Nissan Armada" under the listings.

Sorry...too lazy to post the link. :) (It's Saturday!)

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT LET THEM MAKE A PAYMENT FOR YOU! I am going through Lemon Law proceedings with a different vehicle and my lawyer informed me that at some point, like when the service rep comes out, he will offer you a small sum of money (LIKE A MONTH'S PAYMENT OR AROUND $2-3k or somehow pay you for your inconvenience) and fix it. If you accept this, you are "accepting" the vehicle. It is a trick the regional managers try to use to prove in the proceedings that they have appeased you and you accepted. If you take it, kiss your lemon law suit goodbye and you will be stuck with it. Ride the wave and they will buy it back. AGAIN, TAKE NOTHING IN THE MEANTIME!

Would like to buy a an Armada for my family, is there a production date by which we can be assured that the "res" problem has been eliminated? Would hate to buy one and find out at some future time that I got a bad one. I have been to the local dealer's and driven 7 different Armadas and all had the "res" problem to a greater or lesser extent.... then I hear on this board that "res" can occur after you take delivery! Really like the Armada.... Comments?
  • chasmanz28chasmanz28 Member Posts: 109
thanks for the heads up dont worry, im demanding a buy back for sure, no amount of money could make me keep this armada, and i think nissan knows it. Indy93 you drove 7 armada's and they all had the resonance issue what does that tell you, stay away from the truck until 2005 when by then it should be fixed the right way

    I am starting to become slightly pessimistic. At first, knowing she was a first year model, I knew she should have issues. While my issues might not be as bad as they could be, it seems every week there are two more things wrong with her. So far;

    1. Driver side window off track
    2. Rearview mirror excessive rattle
    3. Rear windows making loud groan when rolled up
    4. Popping noise under my feet
    5. Front pass. window auto-roll sensor defective
    6. Rear driver side head liner coming off
    7. Loud popping sound from front pass. door
    8. Mid. cupholder (in seat) falls down EVERY TIME the seats beside it are messed with
    9. HUGE windshield crack!!! (Not Nissan's fault, but is a nice "icing" to the cake)
    10. Loud, continuous ticking noises coming from engine
    11. Rough downshifting when OD is on
    12. Rough upshifting when OD is on
    13. The interior is so sensitive!! Scratch marks on almost every bit of plastic
    14. Low washer sensor issues
    15. ackward gas mileage (Measuring every 1/2 tank, sometimes I get 8 MPG, sometimes I get 12, on the same tank, driving the same distance and driving in the same manner... Not really an inconvenience, just somewhat worrisome)
    16. Dash squeaks (ANNOYING) anytime touched
    17. My BOSE speakers sound blown half the time!!
    18. (While on an incline, same one each time) 1/2 the time, my parking brake will keep vehicle from moving at all, 1/2 the time I lurch forward as if I didn't put it on.

I'm starting to believe the interior won't hold up past 3 years (fortunately I have a 5 year warranty), and all of the little things are about to make my head spin...
  • dboogiedboogie Member Posts: 71
Like you, I knew with this being a first year model, I figured there would be "issues" with it but thats an "impressive" little list ya got goin' there. So far my problems have been:
    1. The BIGGEST problem I have so far is a clicking/clacking sound coming from my rear axle area. I believe someone here also had that problem and had it resolved and found out that it was overtorqued rear axle bearings. I'm taking mine to the dealer tomorrow to get it checked.
    2. My overhead console that has the sunglass case was cracked from the factory due to overtightened screws. The part is on order and the dealership will be replacing.
    3. The latch on the second row passenger drivers side door was slightly offline. Dealership aligned it.
    4. Had a rattle coming from a second row passenger seat (I have captains chairs). I figured out a fix for it....not a super big deal.
    5. I get an occasional squeek on the area of the dash thats around the instrument cluster. Thats the only area where it will squeek and even when it does its a very subdued squeek.

Those are the only issues I've had with my LE. My interior plastics are doing fine....no scrapes/scuffs...and i have kid that just loves to destroy stuff :O).
I do pay attention to my vehicle...listening and looking for anything I think might be wrong and to date, the areas I've mentioned are my only quibble with the Armada. I sure hope your areas get cleared up for you. How many miles do you have on your ride?

I think I might be looking too far into the tranny shifts, but from reading just about every reviewer say that each shift is perfect, and driving my best friend's 2001 Jimmy - her tranny shifts so smooth I almost can't feel it while driving, and wouldn't have a clue while sitting in the passenger seat if she didn't accelerate so hard :)

I have put 1500 miles on her, and her drive gets better every 100. While the tranny seems to be a LITTLE rough in comparison to the first drive, her steering, acceleration, and braking seems to have significantly increased in control and performance... not sure if it's all just me getting used to driving her or what, but my acceleration has seen the most improvement....

I have a feeling the 2005 model will be excellent. Most of my faults seem to have come across between assembly, not neccisarily faulty parts or design.

I'm strongly thinking about the new Pathfinders... if the problems keep continuing I might trade her in or sell her or summ.... :/

Test drove a Armada LE with nav and dvd. Heard the resonance problem on a bumpy highway at between 70-80 mph. Definitely hurtful on the eardrums. Test drove another car and did not hear the resonance as much though slightly. However, the headliner and dvd were shaking violently. Their techs looked at it and said that Nissan new about the headliner/dvd shaking problem and was working on a fix. They took the dvd console out and tried to tighten it up and then I test drove it again. The dvd/headliner continued to vibrate like crazy. I wanted to buy an Armada today but these test drives freaked me out and I left. The fleet salesman even agreed with me.

Go and take a really good look at the 04 Dodge Durango. The magazines liked it quite a bit. I went and drove it and fell in love. I was still holding out on an Armada, watching this site daily to see if the problems were fixed, but they aren't ending. Both the Hemi and the 4.7L engine are good, but GET THE HEMI! $895 for 100 more horsepower is worth it. Type in the keyword Durango and read back a while. Everyone on that site with one loves it. It is the closest comparison to the Armada out there without buying a dinosaur like the Tahoe/Suburban or Expedition. At least give it a shot. Sorry Armada guys!

    Hey all,

I spoke with "Megan" at Nissan today, and the only word I got was that they are aware of the resonance problem and are working to fix it. Interestingly, she said they haven't found a fix yet but hope to have a TSB out in the next couple of weeks or so. So we'll see...
