I just read in today's LA Times (California Section) an ad for the 2004 A6 2.7T S-Line with Quattro, Tiptronic, Premium Package, 18" rims and destination (MSRP was 45,000 and a few dollars) for $399 / Month for only 24 Months, 3K out of pocket and 10K miles per year (probably not much extra for more miles) with a residual of approx 27.5K at the end.
Seems like a very good short-term lease deal even if you had to drive to So-Cal to get it. It was for Southern Calif. Audi Dealers through August 4th. By the time your 2 year lease is up, the new A6 and 3-series won't be so hard to come by and you won't have to wait for an amazing german sports sedan!!
3k down and 10k over 2 years plus you only get 20k miles? so 13k out of pocket, plus the inevitable over-mileage fees. In California 15-20k miles a year is the norm.
As i stated, you can buy extra miles in advance for slightly higher payment. It's a very good deal for someone who wants a brand-new, 45K, loaded, high-performance german sport sedan for only a couple years. The 3K includes first payment and refundable deposit. of course, you could put nothing down I am sure and pay more per month.
This message was posted for someone considering such a possiblity by the way. And everyone has different driving habits even in California. My cousin drives less than 10K miles per year and just got a great lease on a Z4 and I have 15K on my BMW lease and am right on the money. So, to each is own eh?
It is only 3k down that jcmusic mentioned. The 10k is 10,000 miles per year not an additional $10,000. So it is $3,000 down for 2 year lease that gets you 10,000 miles per year. He said you could purchase extra miles if you wanted.
Audi is making very nice attractive deals now cause of their new 2005 A6's that are showing up in Oct.

Actually it's 3k down and 24 payments X $400 (plus tax) = 10,000+.
they got some less disguised pics of the new 3, lookin ok to me, less banglism for sure the only thing is i find the "butt" too narrow, and the whole thing seems less proportional compared w/ the current 3. id say its gonna be an ok car but not as charming as it is now.
This less disguised pick looks UGLY!! You are right, the current version is certainly more charming.
Will this stop me from selling my 99 323 and buying a new 3 series? No! The one selling point of the new 3 series seems to be the engine specs(although those figures are not yet confirmed).
i say its similar to those latest photoshopped pics, only kinda less complex designed somehow. i wanna see the interior....and the engine for sure e.g: the soon to come 3.5 lt engine
No problem.. always buy what YOU like. But, it sure doesn't hurt to know the dealers have trouble moving them. I really like the gray-green, but if I had brought that color home, my wife would have said: "No way.. you drive it". Hey, wait a minute.... I think I should have...LOL.
Okay, now it is pretty known that the major body change to the 3 series occurs with the 2006 around May of 2005, and that the actual 2005 will only be in production for 6 months starting this Oct/Nov. I am dead set on getting the current body style 330i ZHP 2004. I like the rims on the ZHP and the trim packages. I am too late to order one from the factory to get the options I want (fold down rear seats specifically) in the cars that are left in CA.
So the question is: does anyone know what the supposed 'minor' changes to the 2005 3 series cars are? how about rims packages trim? I don't want to wait to order a 2005, only to find that i cannot get the car i could have gotten with the 2004 just to get fold down rear seats and the ZHP cloth interior. Undoubtedly those last silver 2004 ZHP 330i's are going to sell by the time the 2005 is unveiled. Suggestions?
3 series sedans will come with a moonroof and few other features standard. There's a complete list floating around other forums. Wish I could remember what else will be standard next year...
Prices for the upcoming 3 series are likely to be competitively priced. BMW will not be able to increase prices substantially since overall luxury car sales are declining and specifically the 3 series market segment is becoming over crowded. These facts are presented in the following two paragraphs from the Wall Street Journal dated July 27th and written by Sharon Silke Carte:(what the article does not mention is Lexus intention to triple IS sales in future years---whether that is possible is another question altogether.
The pressures on BMW represent good news for consumers. For one thing, the field is getting increasingly crowded with rivals even as overall sales of luxury cars decline. In June, luxury-car sales accounted for just 3.3% of the total market in North America, down from 4% in June 2002, according to the auto data Web site Edmunds.com1. Overall luxury-vehicle sales rose -- but that mostly was the result of an increase in sales of high-end sport-utility vehicles
Lackluster luxury-car sales numbers, combined with the flood of new models in a market once dominated by the 3-series, is triggering one of the auto industry's most intense brawls. Five new luxury cars are entering the market in the 2005 model year alone, as makers ranging from Mercedes to Volkswagen to Cadillac aggressively target the lucrative niche for sporty, comfortable sedans. This fall, Cadillac will roll out the STS, a larger and more refined version of its sporty, angular CTS. Recently, Jaguar rolled out a re tooled version of its rival S-type sedan to give it what Jaguar calls a more "athletic" look.
and dont forget lincoln's zephyr, looks pretty nice youre right about the market becoming crowded, especially since the american brands are starting to make better cars.
Below is a site with some specs about the new 3.0 l engine. The engine will be the world's lightest 6 cylinder . With 12 % fuel savings and a 12% boost in hp . This is progress!
Looks like the 5 but with a LOT more thought put into it. The busy surface features work thanks to better shapes and proportions. This is a much more appropriate future. After two years worth of BMW bashing, I'd have to say I'd buy this one based on exterior styling. Am really pleased with the shape of the lamps on both ends. But be careful not to burn through the paint while waxing all those creases.
Very well done. The Bangle concept isn't inherently flawed then... or maybe we're just ready for it. If they had released this first, then the 5 and 7, maybe those would've been better received.
OMG! I think the creases along the sides are worse than the Z4, the 7, and the 5. And the front looks like they've been spying on Audi. Chris Bangle, take the blue pill!
Unlike the E60 this cars has a lot more harmony. It might be the new E39 when it comes to becoming the next BMW cult car. Now if they could fix the lights of the E60 it might do better.
I have my order completed for delivery of a 325xi in November of 04. The price was an increase of about 1200 over the 04 model with the moonroof and wood trim std. From the pic's I see on the BMWUSA sight posted over the past few days there are no major changes and few minor ones. Still waiting for the specs to be released to see if there is any increase on wheelbase ect. I anxiously await the arrival of my first BMW.
front end and sidelines are nice, i like it, but the rear end??? ugh...it looks like some cheap honda or nissan rear end. bangle surely got problems in creating the rear ends, he made ugly rear end on the 5er and now the 3er
According to BMW USA the 2005 3 Series is not the redesign, but based on these pictures it appears to be so. I might be wrong, but it appears that BMW is releasing the current design this Fall and might be planing to release the 2006 early next year. I think they might have done the same with the 5 Series last year. I wish they would just tell us when!!! I need to make a decision within 6 months!
It is a 2006 model for the US at least. The whole name of this message board should have been changed to 2006 BMW 3 Series. I haven't heard exactly what month it will be released in the US, but people were guessing anywhere from June to October 2005.
I am more than half way in on my lease of a 330i. I have always been told that leasing lends itself to staying with that particular brand b/c of loyalty discounts for staying.
This is my first ever lease. I will be right on miles and the car is in great shape. As you all know, BMW has some stiff competition these days but I would like to stay with them. My shoping list will include a 530i, X5, and of course the new 330i when it arives.
If you get a chance can any of you share what experiences you have had in re-leasing with BMW and what I can financial insentives i might expect.
I would only say "to each his own", however, as one of the very first E39 owners (97 528 5spd), delivered in 06/96, I absolutely LOVED that car. I had long thought that I would finally trade it on a new E60 - that was until I saw, sat-in and drove one. Beyond styling - which I think is horrendous, inside and out - I would say that the E60 is a technological 'tour-de-force' that is mostly unneeded. As C&D said so succinctly, the new E60 is "drifting off mission". Amen. BMW lost me as a customer partly because of Bangle's styling, and partly because of totally unnecessary 'gegaws' that have no utility in daily driving and are complicating even during normal operations...... How much more negative commentary/feedback does BMW need to get themselves back on track??? Start by firing Bangle tomorrow and doing an immediate mid-course change in both the 5 and 7 series styling.
I am returning to the board after a couple of years. My current lease on a 3.2TL is ending in 2 months, and I am considering leasing a 325i or a 330i. The sales rep told me that there are no visual differences between the 2004 and 2005 models, except for auto-dimming mirrors in the interior. However, I also saw posts that say that 2006 model will appear in early to mid 2005. Is this true ? Thanks
No one seems to know exactly when BMW will be releasing the redesigned 3 Series 2006 models. It seems to me (I might be wrong), that the released the redesigned 5 Series by the Spring of this present year. So it might make sense for BMW to do the same, especially since Audi is releasing their updated A4 (with their V6's increased to 255hp) in February as a 2005.5. If anyone has a definitive release date, it would be much appreciated since I also plan to buying next Spring but do not want the outdated 2005 design.
since it is a 2006, I've changed the discussion title. There is almost NO information available about this vehicle yet - nothing on pricing or availability date

Maybe I'll have to bump to a 5 or drop to a 1 in 2006. more than likely, I'll just ditch BMW.
