Helping my mom buy an SE and I'd like to know MF and residual for 10,000 miles. Also, what is this "lease cash"? Is it simply a rebate that works as a cap cost reduction? Thanks very much.

36/10 numbers on the 2015 Sonata SE are .00059 and 60%. $1500 lease cash, which is a factory to dealer incentive that the dealer can choose to pass along to the customer.

Can be used to reduce the cap cost or to offset some of the up front costs of the lease (bank fee, dealer fee, etc.)

So assuming these numbers are the best available, what does one usually say if a dealer asks where you got such numbers?

Well... any price that doesn't include destination/handling is just BS.. Breaking that out separately is just a ruse to make it look cheaper. In the same manner, consider the dealer processing fee part of the price, as well.

So, you have $1372 of charges to pay upfront, that are nothing more than part of the price of the car.

.00030 MF and 56% residual. $2250 lease cash.

So, when you add the $1372 and $2250 back onto the selling price of the car, the discount from MSRP is more like $3000. Which seems pretty good, though I don't follow the market.

On the plus side, when I use the MSRP and CAP cost, and calculate the payment using the proper MF and residual, I get a payment of $269/mo., which is $10/mo. higher than their quote.. So, all is good.

If it were me, I'd roll the $1372 of upfront charges into the lease payment. That adds about $38/mo. to the payment, but lowers your OOP to just the 1st payment.

I don't see any provision for tax in any of your numbers, though.

I'm dealing with this dealer and am having a hard time reconciling his numbers but he's telling me he can lease me a 2015 Sonata Sport for $190/month with $190 down (first payment) for 3 years and 15,000 miles per year. I know the MSRP is $24,705 which puts the residual at $13,340 using 54%. He has confirmed the residual. He said the sales price was $20,500 before lease cash of $2,000 so I'm at $18,500. To get to the payment he's quoting of $190 which includes 3% NC tax, I am calculating that the adjusted capitalized cost has to be about $19,900. So there is about $1,400 added in which I assume consists of the lease acquisition fee, dealer doc fee, and registration fees.

I'm almost ready to walk away from this dealership but the other local one said they couldn't even do a SE with popular equipment package for this price.

If anyone has a few minutes to look at the numbers above and offer their opinion, I would appreciate it. I guess my question is, is $190/month a solid deal on a 3 year, 15,000 mile per year on a 2015 Sonata Sport?

My other option is a 2015 Accord LX and I'm at $199/month with $569 down but it's only 12,000 miles per year.

$190/mo for a car that stickers at close to $25K is a heck of a deal. Might have to look into that when my Elantra lease is up next year.

So, the 36/15 numbers on the Sonata Sport are .00002 and 54%, plus the $2000 lease cash. Using the MSRP and $18,500 net cap cost, I get a payment of $143.95. If they are rolling in all the fees into the cap cost, the net cap cost would be around $19,900-20,000 as you state in order for the final payment to be around $190/mo.

    What are you waiting for?

Thanks for looking at it. Something just feels off. From what I can tell the car has been on their lot for 9 months. I put the VIN into the myCarfax app and it says the pre-delivery inspection was on 9/24/14 and then serviced 12/5 and 4/28. That's all it says. I just find it hard to believe that the car has been there that long and it only had 17 miles on it when I test drove it. It's Nouveau Blue so maybe that color is just that unpopular.

I originally inquired about an SE with popular package and they immediately said $189/month with only the first payment due at close. I went to another lot and saw the Nouveau Blue and decided that's what I wanted. I called them and asked if they could find an SE like what we had originally discussed. They called back 30 minutes later saying they would give me the Sport for the same price. I went in the next day and they tried to say the Sport would be $220/month so I walked out. They called within an hour saying they would do the $189. I'm going back to drive it again tonight and make a final decision.

Is there anything I need to watch out for when reading the lease? This will be my first lease.

Hi guys. I'm going to lease a sonata this Friday. My top contender is the Eco w/Tech. The dealer has me at true sign and drive $350/month 39 months and 10k miles. Here is the breakdown

    MSRP 28545
Residual 13416.15 (note: this seems low to me, no?)
    $1000 discount
    $2750 rebates
    Cap cost 27,309.99
    Selling car for $24,810

I didn't get the mf. I then showed them a truecar price that will get the car price down about another $1250. So that would be roughly $315ish. I thought that was a good deal but now I'm seeing references on this forum of people getting 2.0 Limited for a price similar or even lower. That car is $5k more though. So my two questions... 1) is this even possible? If so, how? 2) if not, what do people think of the deal I'm being given?

Also completely unrelated, can dealers pay for bluelink technically or no because it is signed up for on a personal credit card?

Using TrueCar price you get to $311 or the first set of numbers I gave you? He gave me $350 tax in, so that is pretty close if you are using the first numbers. I was told all of the up front fees (I will ask for them broken up) are what is increasing the cap cost because it is sign and drive.

Seems like a pretty expensive lease for a 29kMSRP sedan for onlyrics 10k miles a year. One would think you could do a camry xle or accord exl for the same payment but more miles. Just my opinion.

Also completely unrelated, can dealers pay for bluelink technically or no because it is signed up for on a personal credit card?
39/10 numbers on the Sonata Eco - .00014 and 54%, $2000 lease cash.

Using your MSRP and cap cost, I calculate a payment of $311/mo before tax. What's been added to the selling price to get to the cap cost?

No idea about the Bluelink question you posed.
Using TrueCar price you get to $311 or the first set of numbers I gave you? He gave me $350 tax in, so that is pretty close if you are using the first numbers. I was told all of the up front fees (I will ask for them broken up) are what is increasing the cap cost because it is sign and drive.

Just wanted to see if anyone had feedback on this before I go tomorrow
Just review all the numbers carefully .. if they are rolling everything into the lease, they might try to slip in an extra fee or two.

Sure, I guess I'm still trying to understand how people are talking about getting 2.0 Limited less than this?

Maybe they're waiting for the 2016s to start showing up. I noticed some 2016 SE models showing up in the inventory at local dealerships online today.

I'm negotiating with dealers in Atlanta and here's what they've quoted me for 36/12:
    Sport: .00002/56%
    Limited: .0007/58%

I'm looking at a 2015 Sonata Limited with Tech & Ultimate for a 36/12 lease. I'd love it if someone can look at these numbers and let me know if this is a reasonable expectation!

MSRP $32,675 (-$2,070 USAA, -$2,250 Hyundai Bonus, -$750 summer sales)
    Cap $27,018
    MF .0007
    Res 58%
    Doc fee $599
    Tax 7%
    MONTHLY PAYMENT OF $249.10

I'm waiting on their quote but wanted to be prepared. Does this look right? Any advice? I'm wondering if they'll tell me I can't get the $2,250 bonus because it's a lease. Different dealers have told me different things.

    TIA

With that MSRP and CAP, I get $256/mo.+tax.

No idea on the incentive application

Need help evaluating this leasing offer in VA:

    2015 Sonata Limited 2.0T
    36 month/12k year

    $34,625 MSRP
    $27,971 Selling Price
    $595 Lease Acquisition Fee

    $28,566 Net Cap Cost
    $19,736.25 Residual

    $259.76 Month
    $0 Down

    Due at Signing:
    Taxes + Title + $562.20 Dealer processing Fee + $810 Dest/handing Fee + First Month Payment

    Thanks in advance!

Well... any price that doesn't include destination/handling is just BS..

Thanks for your help! I ended up leasing from a different dealer in MD last week that didn't charge for dest/handling separately:

    2015 Sonata 2.0T Limited
    36mo/12K yr

    $34,680 MSRP
    $30,085 Agreed Value of Vehicle
    $1.122.79 Taxes
    $134.50 Tags/Registration Fees
    $595 Lease Acq Fee
    $300 Dealer Processing Fee

    $32,237 Gross Cap Cost
$2,705 Cap Cost Reduction (3K Rebate- also covered first month payment)
    $29,532 Net Cap Cost
    $19,420.80 Residual (56%)
    $528.81 Rent Charge (0.00030 MF)

$0 Down/$0 due at Signing. First Month Payment Free.
    $295 a month for remaining 35 months.
Also got free basic maintenance for life (oil changes, tire rotations, state inspections)
I think its a pretty good deal?
