I'd ask them to fax me a purchase order with all fees, taxes and everything else itemized.

I wouldn't have any other qualms, after I got that. That is a great price.

Do they have the car in stock, and ready to roll?

Yes car is in stock ready to roll. It is the seemingly tough to find Carbon Gray/Quartz. Thanks for the tip, I will let you know how it pans out!

Just purchased a new TSX 5A w/ navi for my mother for $27,500 plus 6% tax and a $160 doc fee ($29,310 out the door). Here's how it went: after a LOT of research, I narrowed it down to two reputable dealers close to her NJ residence, Montclair and Bridgewater.

Since I'm in NY and so many people had great things to say about the internet guys at Bridgewater, I started with them. They started at $28600. I quoted a non-navi price I saw on this site and that I was looking to spend no more than $27K. I had never even called Montclair but based on a posting I saw here I told them that Montclair was closer to the mark, but that Bridgewater was closer in proximity and that my mother would do all her maintenance there. They balked and proposed $28K, I stuck to my guns and we settled at $27,500 (they later told my mother they "never" sell the TSX w/ Navi under $28K- does anyone know otherwise?).

When my mom went to the dealer, she wasn't too keen on the silver/black combo that was in stock and inquired about the white/parchment. They happen to have one coming next week so they're selling it to her at no additional cost! We put down the down payment and we're now ready to roll.

Although I feel like I could have done a little better negotiating in person, the way I see it is they got a fair deal and I essentially got my mom the navi system for free and I'm not sweating whether I could have done better (though now that it's done, I do wonder... could I have?)

Everyone there seems to be quite honest. Although I told my mother not to do anything other than check out the color, she put down the deposit without letting me first check out the paperwork. Much to my surprise, there was no funny business and it has thus far been a very pleasant process. Assuming all works out (I'll confirm), I would highly recommend them.

I should note that she needs the car ASAP (she totaled her car and is using a rental). Otherwise OF COURSE I would have waited 'til the end of the month... ;P

Just to close out, the one dealer who had the deal for $25,200 on the Non-NAVI Auto Carbon Gray/Quartz TSX, somehow managed to sell it before I got a faxed buyers bill. Luckily another local dealer got me the same exact car, at the same exact price. Pickin it up tonight. This forum has been especially helpful. Thanks to all.

I've been talking to someone from this forum regarding getting help about purchasing TSX. You e-mailed me few times, and you said you wanted a 6speed, carbon gray or either of the 2 silvers, and you told me the quotes you got and stuff like that and asked if I can help. You're from north jersey, and you said that you're not in a hurry to get it so u could wait for better pricing. I bargained a great deal for you, but the thing is I deleted your e-mail, so I don't have your e-mail address anymore, so write to me again and I'll tell you about the deal I got for you. you'll be happy =). Anybody else who's interested in Jersey, let me know. Making you people makes me happy. Please be nice and buy me dinner after picking up your car. hehe.

A dealer agreed to truck me the TSX from out of state. How do I know the car that's truck in is not a show room car ?

    Thanks...

Interested in a '04 TSX but curious to find out if anyone knows anything about what's expected for '05, such as new features, new colors, etc.
  • redkey1redkey1 Member Posts: 270
A "showroom car", do you mean a demo that has been driven on test drives? Normally, there is a section on the contract that states the car must not have more than x miles on it at delivery. They come from the factory with 10 - 15 miles I think.

I also live in Vegas. Where did you buy you car at? Please share. Is Falconi that bad? I never stopped by at Falconi Acura but, I passed by and the TSX and TL are piling up. I'm undecided between the TSX and the TL.
  • bt06bt06 Member Posts: 32
Folks I'm torn about the TSX and the 03 TL. Well I really like the 04 TL, but I can't afford it. The 03 TL has more room but the X is sportier. I like them both and I'm torn. I can wait but I'm really ready for something new (I currently have a 95 Rodeo I've had since college). So now it all comes down to price. Is anyone aware of any Memorial Day sales or special pricing for the TSX?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,617
If you buy the '03 TL, you'll be buying something that is already out of production.. It was starting to look dated, even before the new one came out.. imagine how it will look in 3-4 more years.

The new TSX is sporty and modern looking.... On top of being a great car (not that the '03 TL isn't..its just old).

You should be able to get a TSX non-nav for about $25,500.. That is probably more than an '03 TL, but it will have higher resale as well.

You won't go wrong with either car... but, you asked, and there you have it.

Thanks to all the posts on this message board, I just picked up my Silver/Ebony/Non-Navi TSX yesterday from Jeffrey Acura. After much research I negotiated over the phone $25,500 + tax and docs - what an easy transaction.

My heart said 6MT, but my rationale side (being my wife, since she may drive it on occasion) decided to go with the Automatic. I can't stop admiring this car - after much deliberation between the Mazda6s and the Accord EXV6 - I decided the added features (stability control/Xenon HID) was worth the extra money. I could have purchased the TL, but felt it wasn't worth the extra six grand for more power/Bluetooth/XM radio.

Previously, I've always purchased 2 yr old used cars (this is my 5th Honda Product) because I'm a value guy and could never justify buying brand new because of the depreciation.

This car is worth every penny! A co-worker of mine just bought a BMW 330 and we went to lunch today and couldn't believe what I paid relative to what he paid for the same features.

What an outstanding vehicle - highly recommended!

The only issues I have so far: alignment of the steering wheel is slightly off and there is a mild rattle coming from passenger side near the B pillar.

Odd: This vehicle is replacing my 95 Prelude Si with 125,000 miles and it only cost $100 more per year to insure a brand new TSX. I thought it would be more.

I just picked up a TSX in artic blue, a color I hope when I wake up tomorrow. Of course, the grey cobalt was the obvious choice, but in this area, it would get lost in a sea of grey,so I went for the extroverted blue. I paid $25,299 for a non-navi stick, with a free visor thrown in for good measure. I noticed when test driving the car the sunroof opening shook the car a bit, unusual for such a sleek car. BTW, that's including destination, but not including T, T, and L. And just like pistonfan, my insurance rate only increased $110/year, from a Nissan Sentra SE-R, and I'm a 21 yo male, prime candidate for insurance abuse.

I'm impressed with the xenon lights, though when compared to other brands, theyre not as sharp looking, IMO. The blinking turn signals make me feel like I'm driving a 3-pointed star, and I find myself signaling for once in my life... to show off. :p The interior is so tasteful, with a lot of restraint in the design, and I kept touching the materials on the way home from the dealership. Feels quality, looks quality, is quality. Compared to the Nissan, with its huge gaps and cheap plastics, this car is like butter.

I never looked at Acura in this way. I'm madly in love with my TSX! Hehe. Thanks guys for posting and helping me through this process.

I'm from a small town in North Florida with a Acura dealership in town, however, the closest dealership to the one in town is 75 miles away.

I would like to know what is a good out the door price (before taxes) for a 04 TSX without Nav.?

    Thanks

I got mine for $25,200 before TTL. One piece of advice, go through their Internet Sales Manager (contact that dealership via e-mail), much less hassle and better overall experience. Also, e-mail several other dealers in the state to get competing quotes. Even if you have no intention of going through them, it's good to have a competing quote should it be asked for in order to match by your local dealer (mine did this). Worse case, you could end up goin with them if they have a substantially better deal and are 100+ miles away. Good luck!

Has anyone ever gotten any incentives or rebates for the TSX?
  • members78members78 Member Posts: 140
In response to previous message, according to J.D. Powers, Honda/Acura rarely offers any rebates or incentives, as their prices are usually pretty competitive, and their cars nicely equipped, if not fully equipped (although the TSX needs XM radio and heated side mirrors).

A good OTD price varies state to state, because the state tax varies. In VA, the state tax is 3%. There was a dealer tax of .175% (insignificant). I paid approx. $26,300 OTD, with a moonroof visor thrown in, a $120 value.

Question: does anyone else like artic blue? Now I'm wondering if I should've picked carbon grey... it looks so nice on the TSX. Don't get me wrong, I love my new blue TSX, but I'm wondering 'what if'.
  • youngyoung Member Posts: 5
I assume the car just stay in the showroom, but my friends said that
the car in the showroom have too many people sitting in it and fooling around with the manual stick. Therefore, I am afraid of getting a showroom car. Would it be legit reason ?

I have a quote for a TSX w/Nav of $27550.00 (includes $545 destination) from a DC area dealership - any thoughts as to whether this is a good deal?
  • saruhhhsaruhhh Member Posts: 47
My sister and I both want the TSX, with Nav. We're not really picky about the color, except that neither of us wants black (impossible to keep clean or nice looking. Been there, done that).

So, if we go in there to buy two at once, with a cashier's check, how much do you think we're looking at? What is the very minimum we should agree to?
  • sfogeeksfogeek Member Posts: 3
I bought mine for 27,512 a month ago.(1K over invoice)

The MSRP on the car is 28000. Acura gives the dealer a 3% holdback. 3% of 28K is 840$
Including the destination charge, the invoice on the car is $26,512.

SO in other words, if the dealer sells you the car at invoice, he still makes $840.

    You do the math.

we live in south florida and i am sure that you are not willing to go to the dealership with us( hehe) however, we were interested in some of the tactics that you used in negiotiatig for your new TSX. if you could please email us or reply with any info that you would be willing to share, we would greatly appreciate it!! we fell in love with the car and are trying to get the best deal (being that we are working with teachers' salaries!!)

    thank you in advance.

I paid $25,500 with spoiler on pearl w/parchment.
    Sound like a good deal?

Looks like most people choose No Nav..
I am close to getting one with Nav for 27K...
(Can get one w/o Nav for 25K)
I thought if the price is right, I should get one just to be "one of few"

Question is: Is it really worth the extra 1.2k ?
How much "cool-factor" does it add ?
How much actual function is it good for ?
will it up the "get chicks" factor ;) ?

    thanks

I'm looking to buy a TSX with navi... I live in Westchester County, NY. So far I've contacted four dealers in the area, only one internet manager has bothered to return my emails, and he claims that 27K is so "unrealistic" that he didn't even counter (nor did he offer a price out of the gate... so he hasn't given me any price). Sure it's a bit aggresive, but not absurd. I have an offer for 27400 from a dealer on Long Island, but would prefer to deal with someone closer if possible.

It seems impossible to get a simple quote from anyone here. Did anyone have a positive dealer experience in Westchester?
  • saruhhhsaruhhh Member Posts: 47
    Hi SFOGeek,

I'm going to assume, from the name, you're from the Bay Area. I'm in the East Bay. Which dealer did you go to? You got out the door for $27,512 with taxes & other fees included??? What were the tax and license? I want to give a dealer the exact amount I will pay (taxes, licensing, B.S. fees included) for each.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

I'm thinking about offering 26K OTD for TSX/Non-Nav. 3.17% taxes and 388 Doc fee at this dealer. It's Invoice minus approx 200 I believe? Does this seem fair? Quite a few TSXs on lot!
  • nepmannepman Member Posts: 1
I have heard that Curry is good; this from two friends who live in Westchester and purchased there.
  • anthraciteguyanthraciteguy Member Posts: 7
Didn't buy one yet. While most west coast dealers would die to have as many cars as Falconi, they are in no hurry to sell cars. I guess that's why they rank 18th in the region for sales.
  • sfogeeksfogeek Member Posts: 3
    Hi Sarah,
Please look at my post 527 for details.

I bought the car from Oakland Accura.

The otd price was 30,300. I bght a car with Navigation.

    >> I'm looking to buy a TSX with navi... I live in Westchester County, NY.
my 5 cents - This area (and mine - Fairfield, CT) is just too darn affluent, dealer just don't need to do cut-throat pricing.
    Suggest you try NYC/Queens.

I posted that I am paying 27K, well dealer asks for $150 more so I asked for more too :) so he's throwing in floor-mats.
My car is coming fresh off the boat from Japan (still at dock)

    First-time new car buyer here...

I am getting a very good price from a dealer 2-hour away. Local dealer is within 3 miles.

Should I try to get better price from local dealer & buy from him ?

If I buy from the out-state dealer, if I have a problem/complain, is the local dealer obligated to look into it with no charge to me ?

    Thanks

Ok - I just received an offer for a TSX Auto w/ Navi, black with ebony interior for $27K. I am not lying, and i know this is a great deal. however, the color i prefer is carbon gray with quartz interior. should i jump on this, or be patient and wait for a possible good deal (or better deal) w/ carbon????!!!!

up to you....how bad you wanna start drive this baby...
  • sjmurray3sjmurray3 Member Posts: 90
Please, more specifics: was this offer by the dealer OTD? What are you getting the car for in relation to invoice?
  • akatz75akatz75 Member Posts: 18
badly...but the black, oye the black...nicks and scratches scare me! but what a deal...
  • akatz75akatz75 Member Posts: 18
Sorry - what do you mean by 'OTD'?

Invoice is $26,512. I may have to move on it... :):) Such a sweet ride, but black??!!
  • akatz75akatz75 Member Posts: 18
it was not including TTL. invoice is 26,512.
  • sjmurray3sjmurray3 Member Posts: 90
OTD = Out The Door - Selling price (including dest) + Taxes + Fees. So you are getting yours approx $488 over invoice?
  • akatz75akatz75 Member Posts: 18
27K w/out TTL. Yes, $488 over invoice. What are your thoughts? I am in Chicago, and Carbon Grey seems to be very hard to come by in these parts.
  • sjmurray3sjmurray3 Member Posts: 90
I think your doing OK, I am looking non-nav and shooting for invoice! My dealer processing fee is 388, high for this area IMO.

I also have wheel locks in the deal.

I thought about Muds, but I think it would look awful, what do you think?

I also heard that the leather is not real leather? I misplaced my brochure!
  • akatz75akatz75 Member Posts: 18
hmmm - i haven't thought to add anything on. down the road it's quite possible. but for now, i think getting an 'as is' model is quite sufficient! i believe Muds do help in the long run, but haven't seen them on the vehicle.

the leather is not real leather? i haven't heard that one...

maybe we can go in together on 2 of them, and get a deal? i'm in chicago! :)

Williamsburg, VA here, but working up in DC and dealing with a NOVA dealer - I am working with AHFS to get a good rate, the local bank rates have shot up drastically since the Winter!

Think about it. You're considering spending $27,000 on something that's the wrong color for you.

I am reading on Edmunds in comsumer reviews that Gas mileage is less than stated on sticker; Tires are less than adequate; and rattles in speakers when Bass is turne dup? Did anyone experience this on their test drive? Was this fixed in later production?
