You can also apply for your own financing through your bank, credit union, or other lender. Then you'll know what your APR is. You can also amend the contract yourself before both parties sign. You can write in that the sale is contingent on your obtaining certain loan terms.
If they don't want to sign the amended agreement, something may not be right.

I'm really torqued! My Nav software version is 1.0! At least that's what gets reported from the setup screen. I haven't actually taken the DVD out to see what it says.
I'm heading to the dealer at lunch today to pick up my plates. Plan to pitch a fit about buying a brand new vehicle that didn't contain the latest Nav system software.
If the direction sign (the little button that says "N" for North) is on the right side of the screen, you have version 1.0. If it is on the left side of the screen, you have a more recent version.
Well i called my dealer today and was told that I was out of luck and they would not get the version 3.40B for me. He told me that they did nothing wrong and I got the car how it was supplied to them. I guess my next move is to try talking to the GM of the dealership and express my dissatisfaction with this issue.
Correction. My "Software" version is 1.x - my "DVD database" version is actually 3.40a (that's what is on the physical DVD disc). Guess I should have read the manual since it clearly tells how to check this.
Today my dealership said they would "check into it and call me tomorrow". We'll see.
BTW, my database version is actually 3.40a just like yours. Evidently the latest version is actually 3.40C. The Acura navigation web site says...
"Due to the high demand, the disc is currently unavailable. The latest version (version 3.40C) will be for sale early February. You can place an order now, and we will ship the product when it becomes available."
It's going to be really rotten if a new DVD comes out within a month of the purchasee of a brand new vehicle.
Keep in mind, it's not Acura that is updating the DVD - it's the manufacturer of the NAV system. Honda puts what they supply them into the car when it is manufactured.
i got $27900 for the car. that included the doc and destination fees. i believe total out the door was about 29880. i was in the same boat as you. gillman was the lowest. sterling and john eagle wasn't really open to negotiation. champion gulf offered 30900 out the door. hope that helps.
Being told that inventory is scarce when I went to the dealership to test drive. Has anyone from Long Island recently purchased or leased a 2005 TSX/no navi automatic? Wondering what wiggle room on price there is, if any, and where.
I recommend DCH Montclair Acura (Montclair, NJ). The TSX took a few weeks to arrive. I had a very positive experience. Another dealer I would suggest is Curry Acura in Scarsdale, NY. You can deal with them via email.
I purchased a silver/black auto TSX and nav. Is there a place in the documentation that states when the car was manufactured? arrived in the US?
Unfortunately, I cannot say the price. The price I received was special because I had a special referral with the dealer. sorry, I need to respect the referral and offer price. I can say the price was not as great as those who purchased in Texas. congrats to those who paid at/near invoice.
The car is very nice. I'm still getting used to it (only had it 2 days). Some issues/questions:
Nav DVD question: my database version is 20040714 (found via the setup screen). I didn't open the dvd drive to look at the disc (didn't open the disc...afraid the system might reset system) Is this the same as the 3.40B disc? another nav question: is there a way to get to a "screen saver" mode on the nav display...I don't need to have the map display always on.
Handling issue: This car is much stiffer than I expected. almost too stiff for my preference. I feel every bump, manhole cover, etc. My test drives were on smooth roads so I didn't notice the stiff suspension. just wanted to mention this to people who are shopping around to be aware of this.
jerky engine: I've read some posts where ppl mentioned the car jumping from start. I noticed that on my first test drive. on a second test drive and on my car, I haven't felt this (whew). Since the system is drive-by-wire, my guess is that the computer is evaluating various factors when determining throttle control. When it was jerky, I was driving in hilly conditions. maybe the computer felt it needed to increase power in that condition? just a guess.
As I mentioned, I've only had the car 2 days. still getting used to it. thanks to all previous posters providing great info. I'm not a car expert so this site has been really helpful.

I recently purchased (on Dec. 30th, 2004) a new 2005 TSX. I live in east alabama. I selected the carbon gray with quartz interior. No navigation.
I paid $24500 + 350 documentation fee = $25800. I really had to work to get this price. I went to Acura's website and requested quotes from every dealer in a 250 mile area. The dealers that were close to the lowest price, I called back and asked for a second price. I started at MSRP with my local dealer, so the research really paid off.
I put a deposit down last night on an early 2004 tsx with 18,000 miles. silver w/black leather, 6MT, no nav. I'm up in montreal and paid $28,000 Cdn before taxes, which amounts to roughly $22,700 USD. as rare as new TSX's seem to be in these parts, cherry used ones are even rarer, so i think i got a solid deal.
I spent 4 months researching and driving cars, and it ended up being between this car, a 2003 audi a4 1.8t quattro and a loaded new mazda 3 sedan - i opted out of the audi because their spotty reliability record was too much of a detractor. the mazda 3, while not in the same class, held a lot of appeal for me, a single guy in his mid-20's. the car is fun to drive, fairly responsive, quite safe, stylish, and was generally a good value. but local mazda dealers' reluctance to deal on this very hot car made the price difference between the mazda and acura at most about $4000 U.S., and when you factor in resale value, i was sold on the acura.
i also checked out the new vw jetta at the auto show, and while i'm sure the high performance gli version will rock, i found the exterior styling to be ugly, and the car would not come out until the fall anyway. I will look forward to posting on this board in the future - it definitely helped me out with my decision. enjoy your cars!
Positng my first impressions in this section as well;
Just bought the 2005 TSX 6MT, No Nav, Silver with Quartz interior.
The overall impression; Car handles, feels like worth at least 10K dollars more than what it costs. Everything is so well though out. Styling, inside out is so much to the point and precise that even after 5 -6 years it will still look new...
Driving & other initial impressions; Very eager engine. You will be surprise how much power this engine can pack in just 2.4 Litres and with 4 cylinders. Power delivery is smooth in all the gears. Even on overpasses the 6th gear delivers with amazing grace. The raod feedback is precise, steering is tight and razor sharp. I have mostly driven my first 100 miles with VSA on. The transmission is a real gem. Seats are perfect for my height and built. I had read in one magazie review that all controls feel as if coated in vaseline; yes it is like that; the sound of door-closing, the door handle grip, the transmission gear changes, radio controls...list can go on.
The interior space is more than enough for 4 passengers. Actually it has 91 Cubic feet, same as a Pontiac Grand AM, a little more than the Benz C Class.
I have tested many cars including;
Audi A4: nice interior, but not so nice mechanically anymore. 3.0 litre is better but so much more money. 1.8T does not offer good power and tends to be noisey. Poor tranny compared to TSX, even the 6 speed that comes with Quattro.
ES330 (diffrent category however): Just like camry, found the tranny a little confusing.
Saab 93: A little more noise, less refined, not so much well put together, not so impressive - general interior in the base trim.
Acura TL: Liked the car with Auto tranny. The 6MT does not suit this car. Too much power for this front heavy design.
Infiniti G35: Very nice ride, not so great interior, uniques design (good or bad?). Can not get the 6Mt with AWD, and RWD is no choice for my geograohical area, so not a choice. This would still be my second choice even if prices were same for TSX and G35.
To sum up; Its a handsome car and perhaps the best Acura till date, be it craftsmanship / driving charactaristic / sportiness / fit and finish and the value as well.
I'm looking at used TSXes. For a manual trans with 18k miles in outstanding condition, Edmunds TMV is about $24K retail & $22K private party. The Kelly BB retail price is $27.3K which more than the thing cost new!
Anyone other than the guy from Canada bought a used TSX and if so, how much did you pay (and was it from a dealer or individual)?
You'll get used to the cars ride, and it will loosen up over the course of the next 5000 miles or so, as the suspension settles in.
As far as the car jumping from the start, I haven't driven the auto version, so I can't comment. Throttle tip-in is a little abrupt on this car, though, even the 6MT version.
You'll end up loving the car. The handling alone is worth the price of admission.
I just picked up my 2005 TSX non-navi auto yesterday from Oakland Acura in the SF Bay Area. I had received a quote of 24,900 plus taxes, fees from the internet manager who said he would honor the price even though it was a mistake. Well, I had to initially put a 500 deposit down and wait for the car for almost 2 months, but it was well worth it for the price considering what most people are paying right now. Got about 600 under on my trade-in, but wanted the easy way out and not have to sell it on my own.
The car is so well-balanced and fun to drive. Love the heated leather seats and side mirrors.

That's $4k under MSRP which seems to be what the dealers are allegedly getting. There's a 6 sp with 18k miles on Ebay now and the dealer/seller told me the reserve was $25.5K. I told him no one is going to pay that much when a new one is less than $2k more. As long as demand outstrips supply, it's a seller's market.
Just wanted to get all your input on pricing in the Seattle area. I've sent in for quotes and the best price I've received thus far is $26,500. This for a 2005 AT and protection pkg (splash guard, trunk tray, wheel locks, floor mats). Is this a good deal?
I just finished negotiating on a 2005 TSX with Navigation in Oregon. Silver Metallic/Ebony. Price of $28,200 includes the protection package and TTL of $216. So about $1484 more for the Nav. Also had them commit to give me the latest DVD for Navigation (Version 3.40C I think). BTW, there is no sales tax on cars in Oregon, so $28,200 should get me off the lot.
In my case, the car is the one folks have been test driving so there are probably a few hundred miles on it. If more, I'll have them swap out a brand new car with a different color scheme.
I'll post the dealer name and any compliments or complaints once the deal is finally done. (There is still a small chance I'll go with a new BMW 325xi.)
Congrats. I think that is a good price. I've called dealers in the Portland area as well. They are even less flexible than in Seattle. However, even if I did purchase in Oregon I'd still have the pay the taxes in Seattle. I'm still thinking about going for my deal... no nav though. I just can't justify it.
I just bought a used 04 TSX from a dealer in Minnesota. It is a 6sp manual, 17k miles, silver, black interior, no nav, in excellent condition (not even any knicks in the wheels from curbs) for $23,700 (including the certified warranty). Original price was 26.9k, lowered to 24.9k, and I had to work to get my price. Let's face it, it is a premium car and it is hard to get a "deal" on it. Other used ones in the area were sold in a few weeks or less. I am pleased with the price, as it even still smells new. If I wanted to spend another 2-3 grand I would have gotten a new one, but with the warranty and the fact that I found a manual, it was an easy decision.
If you want a new one, I would suggest ordering one and discussing price on that one not yet in their lot. You may get a better price. As it is here, there aren't any new ones to even test drive so they don't sell for much less than MSRP.
That's pretty much what I told the dealer. I also told them that invoice on the car was $24.1k, and there was no way I was going to pay more than the dealer did on a new one. I started them at $22.5k and went from there. Without the certified warranty I wouldn't pay more than $22.7k IMO. I wish you luck in finding one you want.
Just got a quote of $26,850 (no nav, 6 sp) from a suburban Chicago dealer after I requested a quote from their website. Seems high compared to what I've been reading here. He said color might affect the price somewhat.
I bought a 2005 TSX auto, no-nav from Vandergriff in Arlington at the end of December for $25,171 which is invoice for that car. However, I had previously contacted all four of the dealers in the metroplex and gotten quotes from all of them. Because it was the end of the year (12/28) and in the context of a race for recognition as the volume dealer for the year, Vandergriff and Goodson Acura in Irving were more competitive than the others (Mac Churchhill Acura in Fort Worth and David McDavid Acura in Plano). Goodson quoted essentially the same figure, but the Vandergriff quote included lifetime tint and wheel locks.
So, I recommend you contact the Internet Managers (not a regular sales person -- begin by going to their web site and making contact directly) for both of those dealerships and let them bid against each other for your business. However, since they are no longer in an end-of-year situation, I would be surprised if you got the same price. I suspect it will depend upon how many cars they have and how eager they are to move them. Do it now, before the end of the month!
I did have to negotiate pretty hard on my trade-in. Although I finally got about $150 over Kelly, their initial offer was considerably less than that - by about $1450 if I remember correctly. Aside from the trade-in hassle, I had a good experience at Vandergriff. The finance guy wanted to sell me a lot of very expensive services, but was not high pressure about it. I declined them all, after which he asked which I would take if it were free, and I told him I would take the paint and upholstery protection package (priced at $399, if memory serves). He asked what I would be willing to pay, and I told him $25. He then offered it for $55, and I took it. You might actually want one or more of the services offered, but remember that the pricing is exorbitant as presented, and you can do better. Good luck!
No special. It was just a highly competitive time of year. I live in Abilene which has no Acura dealer, but because I have a son and a daughter in the DFW area and visit there from time to time during the year, I can obtain dealer service without too much inconvenience. I have about 800 miles on the car (white with parchment) at this point and am very pleased with it so far.
Let us know how you come out on your deal. BTW, you might want to contact all four of those dealers. Someone else may be more competitive at the end of January.
Last January I bought my TSX from Honda/Acura of Spokane, and I dealt with their internet sales manager, whose name I can't mention here. The whole process was very painless, and very quick. When nobody else in the Seattle area would even talk price, he was willing to move, and I saved about a grand (pro pack thrown in).
I thought driving to Spokane would be a pain, but it turned out to be a very nice experience, and I got a head start on the cars break-in. He also gave me an excellent trade-in price on my 2000 Accord, sight unseen.
This guy also made no attempt to pad the price of the car with BS fees. What he quoted me was what I paid.
Just a thought if things don't go well in Seattle. Tax is a little cheaper in Spokane, too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Their team is very nice and caring. I got exactly what I asked for; right combo, a great price, great APR with trunk tray + wheel locks.
I was hesitant to sign in the beginning and had a lot of questions for the sales representative; mostly due to my first new car buying experience
I highly recommend this dealership, they delivered more than I expected and that too with lot of care.

Fun car.
Maybe $22K-$22.5K.. For the difference in price, even then... I'd rather have a new one...

Thanks, I think I got a good deal for this area. I enjoy it so much that I don't really care at this point if someone thinks I paid too much.
I purchased at Oakland Acura.
The salespeople are good to deal with, but watch out for the Finance Manager.
He will try to do a hard sell on extended warranties. He tried to sell me one for $1,000 more than what other dealers will provide it for.
I paid cash for my TSX, so I don't know what his financing pitch is like, but I suspect he would sell you a higher cost loan too.
I liked the people at Marin Acura, but they were not willing to deal much off list.
Let me know what you get! Good Luck!

2004 Automatic TSX, non-naviagition, certified used, 8,000 miles, carbon grey, Chicago market.
The car is a loner vehicle, i.e. no person has owned it.
Price: (i.e. the price I think I can get)= $23,000
Too much given what some people claim to be getting new ones for?
