Thanks all! After some research, I realized I actually paid about $1000 over invoice. A shady liar dealer near SFO added destination on TWICE to the invoice price. (I had asked her what invoice was, my mistake trusting her)

But, she had also told me she had both cars on the lot. Then, when I was ready to go down there to get them, she was now talking about us signing the papers so she could order them!!! I don't want to give any money to a liar.

So, I went to Los Gatos and she had my white one the next day! We're still waiting on the carbon. But, we'll go through Los Gatos again. Superb follow-up and follow-thru.

I received a quote ("internet special") for 05 TSX for $25,172 (+taxes) w/ out nav. I have not been to the dealership yet, not sure if they have any hiden fees. I live in the DFW metroplex. Do you think it is good price??

    Thanks!!

I live in Northern California, and just bought a

    '05, AT, no-NAV, carbon-gray/Quartz at $26060

(plus lic, tax...)with no haggling and pressure

    from sales.

Originally I planned to get an TL, but got a little disappointed after some test drive.

IThe TL felt a bit heavy and bumpy, and the "blue"

intrument backlight looked too deep(dark?) to me.

(am I the only one ?) However, it's easier to

get a better deal on TL as it's assembled in

    U.S. with lots of supply.

$25000 even for 05, that is a good deal.

but why do you have to wait for 2 day?

Ask them 1. How many miles on it?

             2. What Option is it a pro. Pack?

             3. Out the door price?

If you every thing is good....buy it now!

I just got my 05 TSX for 25K even in Arlington TX, Carbon Gray w/ light gray interior. It was 26,800.00 out of the door. (w/ 6.25% taxes+fees+ $50 documentation)

It had 1 Mile on it when I picked it. They just unloaded it from truck. It has standard options, w/ tinted glasses / wheel locks.

If any from the Dallas area wants to buy a TSX, let me know.
  • dandimaardandimaar Member Posts: 1
I just got a 2005 Acura TSX (silver / quartz) w/ Navigation for $27,493+ttl. Basically it amounted to $500 over invoice. Tustin Acura in CA, really cool guys to deal with. Ask for their internet dept. I got similar quotes from Keyes Acura in Van Nuys as well.

    Hey 05tsx_buyer,

25K for an 05 TSX is a great price man, i too live in DFW metroplex and was starting to look for good prices, at your price i wont have to look anywhere else.

Which dealership gave you the price ?? Vandergriff ??
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
Just starting to contact dealers. Haven't really talked price yet. There doesn't seem to be much (if any) '05 TSX inventory in Indy.
  • ronabironabi Member Posts: 39
I would be interested to know the dealership from which you bought your TSX. I don't live in Dallas, but the nearest dealers to me are in the metroplex.
  • 05tsx_buyer05tsx_buyer Member Posts: 4
I for from Vandergriff in Arlington. I requested a quote online and negotiated through email & then phone. I mentioned other dealerships were offering for $200 over invoice and they need to beat it to get my business. Never mentioned the color till the last minute. Their Interet sales is very good to work w/ and were true to their word (they don't try to sell any accessories etc). Watch out for the finance guys, they might try to pull something off.

I got so much from all the posts--had to share my experience.

Looked to replace a 93 mazda 626. drove it into the ground.

Wanted a 4-door sedan, manual trannie, roof, classy looking, safe, reliable, fun to drive.

Started with Edmonds. Sedans. Started with all of them, as to not leave any out. Sorted those down to 19 makes, 31 models. (Not every make has those 5-speeds.)

Wanted the least expensive car that fit my needs.

Wanted a 2005 new car. 2004s were out.

Removed any first year production, for example Volvo S40.

Visited dealers for the "see it, sit in it and check the trims."

The sit test: am I comfortable in the front; and with the front seat unaltered, am I comfortable in the seat behind? Toyota Corolla, for example, fell off the list. Camry stayed on.

(Always started with the smaller, cheaper in any make.)

Fit well in the Civic, Altima, 626, but they didn't have the trim combos I needed. Oh--I said "yes" to leather--first time!--as I projected to keep this 5+ years, and that would cross my 50th birthday. Treating myself well.

Test drove only when list got to 5 or fewer. Aimed for a day, night and rain test drives.

Rode the Passat GLS--seat was too stiff after just one test drive.

Rode the Accord EX V4--fine, but 5+inches longer than my 93 626.

TSX-wow. Got it w/o Nav: haven't needed it til now, and was dismayed by needing to upgrade the data discs yearly. Didn't want those expenses. Didn't like it only went one way--future upgrades should include an active 2 way gps

Had financing ahead of the deal. Had USAA negotiate my price. Their target got met.

OTD: 26500 (incl delivery, and wheel locks, trunk tray, mug guards)

27671.40 (inc; tax, tags, title, 245 dealer prep fee)

What did you pay and who did you buy from? I am in North Carolina but would not mind driving a few miles if I can get a better deal. Anybody on this list who bought a 05 TSX recently in North Carolina?

I found a 2004 TSX w/navi with 12,500 miles. It is carbon grey with light grey interior. What is a good price? The dealer is asking $27,900. That is ridiculous but I want to make a respectable counter offer. Please help!
  • bigbrainbigbrain Member Posts: 2
Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a TSX and I live in the Seattle area. Can anyone from this area share with us the price they paid for their TSX before Title, Tax and License?

The opening price from the Bellevue dealer is $26,600 for a TSX auto with no nav.

Did anybody go all the way to Spokane or Portland to get a better price?
  • eyedoc_00eyedoc_00 Member Posts: 14
Anybody own a TSX with children? I have a 3.5 yr old and a 19 mos. old. Both are in car seats. I was wondering if anybody has thoughts on it being a bit cramped for space. I have an offer for $30,733 out the door on TSX with Nav. Trying to get dealers to beat each other on price.

I am comparing it with the Accord V6 with Nav. I have an offer for $28,000 out the door.

I live in Southern California and feel that these are both good deals.

Any thoughts on interior room and price quotes would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Might need to sell our 04 BLUE TSX no Navi automatic bought in 01/04. It has less than 4000 miles, came with the wheel locks, trunk mat, all season mats, and fog lights. It's my wife's car, and she has had 2 MAJOR foot surgeries since last January and considering getting something with a little more leg room. What would be a fair asking price for those in the Chicagoland market? Thanks.

  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
a couple of questions: First, what are the highway cruising RPMS of the 6MT at 60, 70, 80 mph? Second, for you big guys out there, it seems that the lateral bolsters in the shoulder area of the driver's seat are a little narrow. Any comfort problems in this area for you 6 foot+ drivers?
  • uncledaviduncledavid Member Posts: 548
Hard to say. But, I'm sure you'll see significantly lower prices by the summer.
  • uncledaviduncledavid Member Posts: 548
In all honesty, I probably would go for the Accord if I were you. The TSX is only a few inches smaller, but that is critical when it comes to families. Also, the trunk in the TSX is smaller than the trunk in the USDM Accord. That will be an issue for you, since you'll have the rear taken up with kids

I drove Accords for 15 years, and switched to the TSX about a year ago. The TSX is a lot more fun to drive. I haven't felt this passionate about a vehicle in years. But, it does feel quite a bit smaller. It really doens't have much more usable room inside than a Civic.

One final issue to consider, the TSX comes with VSA and the USDM Accord does not. To me, that is a big safety issue.
  • eyedoc_00eyedoc_00 Member Posts: 14
    Thanks uncledavid for the insight.

I also enjoyed driving the TSX. As this will not be our primary family car, we have an Odyssey, I feel I maybe able to get by with less interior room. i think in the end it will come down to price. I am trying everything to get the TSX out the door for under $30,000.
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
You say, "The TSX is a lot more fun to drive. I haven't felt this passionate about a vehicle in years."

As one who is just beginning his search for a new sports sedan, your words are just what I want to hear about the TSX. Everything else becomes a periferal concern. I grew up on Honda motorcycles and have tremendous respect for their engineering. The prospect of getting back to a small, lightweight (sort of), good handling, high revving and indestructable four is very attractive. My major concern is fit and comfort as I am 6'-4", 230 and will have to drive this car long highway stretches for my job. I have sat in an '04 but not driven a TSX yet.
  • johnny420johnny420 Member Posts: 473
At 3200lbs the TSX is hardly a lightweight, but I'll second uncledavid's notion about the TSX: it is an absolute blast to drive, especially in its 6 MT incarnation. People who drive the 5AT seem plenty satisfied, too, though.

You're a big guy, but I'm 6'1" and 200lbs, and the car is plenty comfortable for the many 300 mile plus road trips I take.

    Great car.

    Johnny
  • uncledaviduncledavid Member Posts: 548
eyedoc_00 - Since you already have minivan, the TSX might be a great pick. It is harder to get at a good price though, because the supply of them is more restricted.

Don't forget to fact in the additional features of the TSX: heated mirrors, longer warranty, better stereo, HIDs (which, btw, are an overrated feature), and VSA.

indydriver - I was suprised by how well I fit in the TSX. I'm not a tall guy, but I sit upright, and all my height is in the torso. I had headroom issues in lots of cars out there. For example, I could not fit into either the G35 or the Accord coupe. I also had headroom issues in the old 2003 TL. The TSX just seems to fit me well, so give it a look.
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
in late Feb or early March as my company is getting out of company cars and going to car allowances. The only limitations are that it must be a four door sedan and cost at least 90% of the $30K basis vehicle. Of course, we can spend more since its our money. Also looking at G35.

While I am attracted by the sporty reputation of the TSX, the reality of my situation is that I will be spending many hours droning down the interstates. Is my heart over ruling my brain in wanting a TSX for this mission?
  • uncledaviduncledavid Member Posts: 548
I'd look at a TL as well. It is just as comfortable inside as the TSX. It does not handle as well, but is much more powerful, has more gadgets, and a more comfortable ride.

The downside to the TSX (IMO) is that the ride is pretty stiff. If you are going to do a lot of interstate driving, that may be an issue to consider. I found the ride to be quite nervous and busy on really wavey highway pavement.
  • robr2robr2 Member Posts: 8,805
indy - if you are getting a car allowance, consider getting something for the long haul that you'll be comfortable in for your business drives and that will last longer than your loan. Then get a fun car for yourself.

At a previous employer, they went to a car allowance. One sales rep bought a Mercedes diesel and the car allowance covered all his costs. He paid off in 3 years and it had about 100K on it. After that, he kept driving it and was pocketing the allowance less maintenance. He drove it about 6 years and was able to buy himself a toy.

Why does your company want you to spend at least $27K on a car? Does is matter what you are driving as long as it doesn't project a bad image? My experience has been that most allowances are for vehicle/maintenance/insurance costs - if you decide to spend more, that's your choice.
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
This allowance program is very different and much better than the typical ones I've been involved with before. The limitations are designed so that you are forced to be in a new vehicle. Without too much time off topic, I have to buy an '05 and will be given a four year, 100,000 mile depreciation schedule. In 2009, I will have to buy another car because they will stop paying for the '05. Sounds confusing, but it is a very generous program. Bottom line (back on topic) I will own a four year old car with 100K on the clock that I will hand down to my last kid. I want a reliable vehicle that won't kill me to insure her in and it seems to me that the TSX fits the bill.
  • jogeejogee Member Posts: 13
I've had 3 Dallas-area dealerships competing on price. Just bought my '05 TSX auto w/Nav for $26,993 (invoice price). Even got them to throw in all-season floor mats, wheel locks, and a window tint at no charge! All the dealerships in the area are scrambling to try and win the "volume dealer" award for 2004 in the Dallas market. If you're considering buying a TSX in the near future, do it now! You won't get a better deal, IMHO. And Honda Financial is offering 2.9% financing for qualified buyers for a limited time. Another reason to buy now.

I'm doing the Snoopy dance - feels I got a great deal. I pick up my car tomorrow. Merry Christmas!
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
"what are the highway cruising RPMS of the 6MT at 60, 70, 80 mph?"

According to Car & Driver, 23.7mph per 1000 rpm, so just about 3000 rpm at 70.
  • ronabironabi Member Posts: 39
Congratulations on a great deal! I might try to do the same next week. Which of the dealers gave you that deal? Also, did you have a trade-in, and if so, how did they do vis-a-vis the Kelly Blue Book?

I hope you see this message. I could understand you spending all your time with your new car and ignoring this board for awhile!

    Merry Christmas!
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
Great deal. I'm jealous. The two dealers here in Indy don't have any inventory. The only deal they've even hinted at so far is to sell at Edmunds TMV price which is $500 off MSRP.
  • bigbrainbigbrain Member Posts: 2
Does your price include the $570 destination fee? The best price I have gotten thus far in Seattle is $26,500 without nav. This includes the above destination fee.
  • johnny420johnny420 Member Posts: 473
"According to Car & Driver, 23.7mph per 1000 rpm, so just about 3000 rpm at 70."

And, if I might add, the car is very stable and composed at freeway speeds. While 3000 RPM at 70 MPH might sound a bit high, I've never gotten the sense that the engine is straining in any way.

I've taken it all the way to 100 MPH (track), and still the engine feels composed.

IMO, the TSX is a great freeway car, though it is prone to some tramlining on heavily grooved pavement. One of the tradeoffs for good handling, I suppose. However, it never loses its solid, planted road feel at any speed, I've found.

For a four-banger, the engine is remarkably smooth and quiet. Heck, for a six-banger it'd be smooth and quiet.

All of this is, of course, purely my opinion.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    Johnny

I bought from David McDavid Acura (Plano). But Goodson Acura (Irving) and Vandergriff Acura (Arlington) were in the running.

I had a great experience at David McDavid. They are very customer-oriented and didn't spend a lot of time slamming the other dealerships. They gave me what I wanted. Who could ask for more than that?

I was able (after some pushing) to get them to give me the Kelly Blue Book trade-in value for my '94 Honda Accord LX. But the were initially a few hundred below book value.

Good luck next week. Hope you can get a similar deal.

    Merry Christmas.
  • jogeejogee Member Posts: 13
Yes, the $26,993 sales price included the destination charge of $570. I wasn't kidding - I bought it at invoice!

Good luck in Seattle. Been there one time - beautiful place.
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
Thanks for the feedback Johnny. So far every question I've had about the TSX has been answered affirmatively. I'm pretty much at the point where all that's left is to test drive it and buy it.
