Here's what I got from a local dealer (San Francisco Bay Area) about invoice prices.
Please be informed that the invoice prices are as follows: $25171.76 Base and $26992.57 with Navigation.
Here's what she's doing with my pricing:
As mentioned earlier, let us work a deal at $28192 including destination charge, free wheel locks, and free first oil change.
I think it also helps that the two colors we want are the least popular (red & white). I had wanted a carbon grey until I started seeing like 20 of them a day. I've only seen 3 white ones and 4 red ones since they hit the showroom floor.
I'm ready to purchase my first new car (3-4 weeks). I've gotten some names and emails of some sales managers of Acura dealerships. What would be the best way to contact these guys by email and "name a price"? What should I include? So far I've gotten some prices on the 04 Model TSX non Nav.
$25,900 $25,400 $25,800
Those are just some numbers that I gotten from 3 dealerships. The 25,8 number is included with wheel locks, all weather mats, cargo thing in the trunk. If they're willing to give me that price over the phone, will they come off that price? A couple guys mentioned they're looking to get rid of them so they can start selling the 05s since they're coming in as of last week. I haven't discussed what I really wanted yet with them just asking for pricing and availability.
I would really like some tips on what to do since this will be my first buying experience. I will get my own car loan and trade in or sell my older car (1k probably). I'll more than likely put a big down payment down (5-8k) and do a loan for 4 years.
i live in the dc metro area as well. i paid 25,192,including destination fee(2004).acura dealer in chevy chase was trying to sell it for 26,300. i got a better deal at criswell acura in annapolis
buy your own all weather mats and cargo trunk tray from online acura accessory company. try to negotiate the price down below 25,400. good price- 25,200 including destination fee- good luck
For $24,500...or will the dealership think I'm crazy? I really would like it for 24k or close to it as much as possible. I got this from one of the dealers yesterday by email...(I know they're suppose to say that to get me in there)
Also on financing, I'm thinking about doing a 5 year instead of a 4 year to lower my payments but I could pay extra each month doing the 5 year to lower the principle. I think I come out better that way. Thoughts?
the email "Thanks I did want to let you know that we are liquidating all 04's at right over invoice and they are going fast, so if you are serious you might want to jump on this..."
Go for the $24,500... So what if they think your crazy.
As for the financing. Either go 4 years or 5 years but stick with the payment plan. Paying additional principal is a good idea on a house payment, but interest on cars is usually calculated on Simple financing (Meaning your interest is calulated basically once then added to your note). If you think you can pay it off in 4, do the 4, if you can't then stick with the 5 year plan. If you do a five year plan and pay early, all you'll do is pay the same interest faster.
Savio, the invoice on a TSX without NAV (Autmatic or manual) is about $24,100 in 2004(although that number may not include delivery - I don't remember). So, you're basically offering them $300 profit on a car that many owners paid close to MSRP for, and expecting about $300 worth of add-ons to boot.
I think it is worth a try, but I also think you'll be unlikely to get it.
I'm kind of new to the whole leasing aspect of car buying. I'm shooting to pay around 26,000 for an '05 non/navi TSX. Here are my questions, a) is that a decent price for one, and b) what would be a fair lease payment for a 36 month 15,000 mile lease? Any help you can provide would be appreciated, thanks.
I think 26k is doable. It may require some haggling, but it's a price that many dealers would be willing to do now...prices for '05s are starting to fall. Of course it also depends on color, transmission because MTs are fairly rare and a couple colors (red for example).
Got my 05 white with navi today. Came with a "Pro Pack" (trunk tray, wheel locks, and mud guards (added $305 to my original quote of $28,192 including dest.)). Out the door was $31,141.72.
Car (with pro pack and destination):$28497.00 Doc fee: $45.00 Sales Tax: $2354.72 License Fee: 240.00 Tire Fee: $5.00
Went through Los Gatos Acura (female Internet manager). Was going through another dealer (Burlingame) that gave me the quote for the above price and told me she had the car(s) on the lot. Then, when I was ready to sign papers, she suddenly had to order the cars (will take 90 days to get if you have to order them).
So, I no longer trusted her (Burlingame) and called Los Gatos. She met the other dealer's quote and had my car (traded with another local dealer) two days later.
No haggling, no trying to get me to buy extra stuff, totally not like a "car salesman". I would recommend going straight to her. Don't even bother with the others. My sister is getting one too. But, no local dealers have the color she wants with nav. So, we have to wait a little while. But, we're going to buy that one from Los Gatos, too.
Also, I didn't really care about the XM when I was looking. I haven't gone back to radio since I left the lot (5 hours ago). No commercials, constant music, and tons of variety. So glad I waited for the 05.
E-mail me if you want her contact info. Great, trustworthy salesperson.
I'm looking at buying an '05 TSX in the Suburban Philadelphia area sometime within the month. Does anyone have any experience, pro or con, with the area dealerships? The ones nearest are:
I'd be interested in comments people may have about both the buying experience and performance by their service departments.
As a separate issue, I'm wondering what people think of value of having the navigation system. I'm inclined not to get it (the price seems a bit steep) but, never having had one before, there is always the possibility that it provides $2,000 worth of value.
Any help that anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.
The Nav is an individual choice. It does have some downsides. I personally don't like the way it absorbs some of the buttons on the dash (like the presets on the radio). But, that said, I have to say that I'll never buy another car without Nav. It is incredibly useful on a day-to-day basis.
But, I think I find the NAV so useful because I live in a large, sprawling, urban area (Los Angles) that I don't really know all that well. If I lived in a smaller town, and knew the streets extremely well, and rarely traveled out of town, I'd probably skip the Nav.
As you probably know by now, the Acura's nav is the industry's best and it is very easy to use.
I got my TSX yesterday and I already have the nav system down. If you can read, spell, and have a finger (or voice), you can use this nav system.
As for paying $2000 for it: How often do you get lost? How often do you go to areas that you don't know? How often do you think you would really use it?
If it's just an occassional need, print a free Yahoo or Mapquest map when you need it. Save yourself $2000.
If you need it on a regular basis (you're in real estate, a contractor, travel a lot, etc.) then get it.
I'd be interested to know who you worked with at Los Gatos Acura. I am working with a woman, who is the fleet manager, and she quoted me a price of $28,700 with Nav (which is not a great deal). This is supposed to be through my credit union's vehicle purchasing plan.
Any information you could provide would be appreciated.
I've been able to locate 3 '04 non-navi 6MT in the Chicago area (150 mile radius), and I was wondering what would be a good price on one of them, considering the '05s are already on the lots??? One dealer mentioned invoice over the phone, but when I asked him to run some numbers for me, he came back with roughly $400 over ($25200) - only option - wheel locks. Another dealer came back at $25100, but this one included the wheel locks, mud flaps, and the cargo tray.
I almost bought one today at Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA 20152 I ask for $25,500.00, and they wanted $25,865.00. Plus Tax and fee $886.00. Year 2005 with XM radio Spec: 6 speeds no-navigation. I think, i had offer them almost $1000.00 over the invoice.
Does anyone here purchased it lower then $26,500.00 out of the door price?
Please don’t pay more then this!!!! You have to understand (invoice price $24,146.00). I do understand the car is hot, but why should we let the dealer mark up price $3K over the invoice???
The interior seems similar, although the engine of TSX is not as quiet as TL, it does costs about $5K less. Really hard to decide myself, any suggestions?
I have been shopping around dealers here in North Carolina and some charge $400 for "document fee" or "prep fee." Mind you, this is in addition to the $570 destination. I have bought many Hondas in the past and have never paid more than $45 for document fees.
Appreciate thoughts from others on whether you have had to pay document fees, or any experience with refusing to pay these fees.
The most I've paid is $99 here in Boston. If you don't want to pay it, tell them to either remove it or reduce the price of the car. If they say no, that's their decision but don't pay it if you don't want to.
I paid only about $600 over invoice for my TSX with nav last weekend. I'm in Northern California. I have about 10 dealers within driving distance. That may have given me more leverage. If you're in an area with only one or two dealers, you aren't going to be able to negotiate much.
$90 to install a cargo net sounds outrageous. I installed mine in my Highlander in about 10 min. It required drilling two 1/4" holes in the plastic trim (a template was supplied.) The only difficult think was getting the female insert into the hole while reaching thru an opening in the trim panel. I ended up taping the thing to my finger and once I got it in the hole & secured just pulled the tape away.
dac1, I have a TSX and love it. But, I really don't believe that my car will been any more reliable than a TL over the longrun (presuming Honda/Acura has addressed their issues with transmissions for V6 engines). I think they'll both be very reliable cars.
TL has a few features over TSX: larger rear room (if you have family this may matter more), (much) better audio system, heated or memory seats (forgot which one), and a more powerful and yet quieter engine, and BT HF phone. But TSX is more agile being smaller and therefore perhaps even more fun to drive. Plus, it's $5K cheaper. They both look nice.
Congratulations, saruhhh! I know you've been shopping for awhile, so I'm glad you got a great deal. Now, be sure to share your ownership and driving experiences in our Acura TSX discussion.

I was too much of a dummy to insist on the mats and trunk tray, and wound up getting them later.
Either way, I hope you enjoy your new TSX. It is a great car, and I think you'll be very happy with it.

So far, the buying experience has been OK, but the car's not delivered yet!
There is one issue: the salesman is charging $90 for the installation of the cargo net. What a rip off!
Has anyone installed the cargo net themselves? What's involved?

I paid $25,582.00 before tax and fee for my 2005 TSX.
Please ask me any question about buying this car (sorry don't speak good English) but I will try to explain.
I had spend 6 months research on how to buy this cars.
In Northern VA average price for this car sold for about $27,5000.00 (no-navigation) before tax & hidden fee, which is about $1100.00)
So out the door price is about $28,600.00 (average).
But TSX rated 4 stars.

$600 over invoice was quite good. I live in

Congratulation!!!
On $600.00 over the invoice .WOW .
So what is your price before tax and feessssss?
