Thanks to all those who have posted their experiences. I have sent emails to all of the dealers in the Washington DC area and all have come back around the $26000 mark including destination for the 5AT w/o navi. They all claim that the car is a hot seller and so won't go more than $1000 below MSRP. Any suggestions?

If everything you've done is by e-mail, it is time to visit the dealer.. Print out your e-mail, take it with you, and ask for the internet contact by name.. Take your checkbook.. Tell him you'd really like to buy the car, but you will only pay $XX,XXX and that you are ready to buy it today.. (Ideally, $24,700-$25,200?).

The world still works mostly face to face.. they can give you info and prices all day over the internet, but many dealers won't come down to bottom dollar until you are in a chair in front of them. Be sure to let them know you are considering other cars (Accord V6?).

    Good luck!

    Yes.

If they won't deal go elsewhere. With the ongoing airline price wars, you can fly to Florida for about $100 and get the TSX for about $1600 less than what they are offering now.

I picked up my blue pearl TSX auto non-navi last week. I paid $24,800 + $150 doc fees + TT&L. I had a hard time to get this price. Each of the dealers had very little in stock, so I feel that I got a pretty good deal, especially since I really only wanted artic blue or meteor silver.

I was getting internet quotes anywhere from $25,000 to $25,700. One dealership wouldn't even budge below their internet price quote, but luckily another dealer was more aggressive to sell and took my price.

Could you please tell us, which NJ dealership gave such a nice deal?

I am looking with Nav package, quotes received thro' internet was $27,995.

Thanks again for the responses. I will follow the advice of kyfdx and if the dealers still won't budge I'll start looking outside the DC area.

If anyone has any advice/experience buying the acura tsx, (no nav.)in upstate or western new york, I need to hear from you. There is only one dealer in my area (near Buffalo), and they say the best they can come down is a whopping $335.00 on a msrp of 27,035. I think they can do way better. any advice?

I was just quoted $27,112 for a TSX with NAV and auto trans. Is this a good price or do you think I can and should bargain lower?
  • saruhhhsaruhhh Member Posts: 47
I've been checking Acura ads every week. From what I gather, only the stupid RSX gets the special financing. It's crap!!!!

    Hey Sammy2 -

I just bought my TSX, w/o navi, including a spoiler for 25,400 at Turnersville Auto Complex. If you go there deal with Ron, he's a good guy and is willing to work with you.

Thanks to everyone who has posted all of the helpful buying info. Does anyone have any leasing experiences / advice. Other than the normal reasons for not leasing a car in general, is there anything in particular about leasing a TSX? I am a new to this, so please don't shoot me if there is a different forum on leases. Thanks in advance!

Thanks again to all of you, especially those who took the time to respond to my post. Knowing what many of you paid helped a lot in my negotiations.

I started by getting internet quotes from 8 area dealers but after phone, email and in-person contacts, the lowest price I could get was $25,600. I then expanded my search to 14 additional dealers in PA, NJ, DE, MD, & VA. The best prices came from Bobby Rahal Acura in Mechanicsburg, PA and Metro Acura in Philadelphia. I was just about to buy from one of them when a local dealer agreed to match their price. Yesterday I bought the carbon grey automatic without navi for $25,100 at Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD. The documentation fee was $99 and they included wheel locks and the trunk tray. (Please patronize the above Pennsylvania dealers to assuage my guilt--I wanted to buy from them because they were so helpful but Laurel is so much closer than Philly.)

The negotiations with dealers in this area were difficult. I mentioned to more than one salesman the fact that I had read on this forum what actual people were paying for this car. The response of the dealers was overwhelmingly negative. They told me that the braggarts on this site are liars and impostors. I was lectured a few times about the laws of supply and demand and told that "holdback is the dealer's money and therefore not [the salesman's] to negotiate". In the end, the only way I was able to crack the local market was to get offers from outside the area and show them that to save hundreds of dollars I was prepared to pay the small $24.50 bus fare to Philadelphia.

I hope this adds to the general store of knowledge. Good luck to those still in the hunt.

I got a 2004 TSX auto with navigation in (Carbon Gray - yes CG again) for $27,112+TTL. I went through Autoland in LA who made the experience so enjoyable and easy. Gary Andrews was the consultant and he was excellent. The dealer delivered the car to my house and Autoland is scheduling a time to pick up my trade. I only went to the dealer once for 10 minutes to test drive the car. Never entered the showroom or dealt with a salesman.

Okay.. I know you were considering a CPO BMW 325i also... What was the main reason you chose the TSX instead?

It's about what you get for the money - the TSX is a real value. I paid 27K for the Acura and was looking at a 31K 325. I thought the 325 was overpriced and the Acura, well let's just say they're not a dime a dozen. In Socal, the dealers are noticing that the USC grad is willing to spend the 30-35K for a used 325 to throw their USC alumni frame onto. They are really not willing to move on the price. Also, I think I only saw one on the way home last night but saw 10 to 20 325s. Sure the 325 has the name appeal and the RWD, and yes a bigger engine, but the TSX is so smooth even with the sport-shift automatic. This comes from someone who was sick of driving in LA traffic in a car with a mack truck gearbox (see 02 Maxima SE 6sp) and clutch. Also, there's nothing like the smell of a new car.

I looked at the 330xi,the 325xi, legacy gt, acura tl, and infiniti G35x. at first i thought i really wanted the BMW. after several test drives of both the bmw and tsx I decided on the tsx. You can get a non nav tsx for 25K, a comparable BMW (new) is 33K-35K. The tsx comes standard with stuff you can't even get on the bmw. and i believe the tsx is more reliable, and jd powers is surrently backiing that up. I also thought about a used or demo bmw, but there is something nice about getting a new car. my tsx is due in 1 to 2 weeks. can't wait!

I've been searching around for best price with different dealers in Los Angeles area. The best that they gave me is $25,395 + Tax + License Registration fee. I am not sure if they inclue the document fee in there yet but I haven't made up my mind yet. The price for $24,800 that someone got was nice. Wish I could find that price here in Southern California.
  • jdb92656jdb92656 Member Posts: 12
Try the Autoland buying service. They were able to get me a price $500 below those I have seen on this board. I paid $27112 for a TSX with Nav from Tustin Acura using Autoland. It's also hassle free. You may be able to get closer to the $24800 price through them. As for the document fee, it's probably not included. It should be about $45.

What was your total price out the door?

    Thanks,

$27,112+TTL = $29,450.18. I also bought an aftermarket 72mo/100K warranty for about $700. It was much more inclusive than the Acura warranty for the same period and not as restrictive.
  • marcysmarcys Member Posts: 1
It sounds like a great deal. I am in the DC area and I am looking for the same car. Can you please provide the name of the salesperson you talked to about the deal for $25,100?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm interested in the warranty. Whom did you get it from and how do I contact them?

    Thanks

Just purchased a TSX from Sussman of Jenkintown Pa. for 24,900.00 +tax+license registration. They had every color to choose from. Ask for Daren
  • jdb92656jdb92656 Member Posts: 12
I got it through Autoland - I think it is Avocar. It is 72mo/100K and covers the nav system plus other things not covered under Acura's extended warranty including seals and gaskets, etc. Check out their website - www.autoland.com.

I ordered a white pearl with Nav and 5 options today for $27300, picking up in 2 days, so the actual excluding those options is around $26800 before TTL, pretty nice deal.
  • xsecurexsecure Member Posts: 4
What were those 5 options ..
  • williamcwilliamc Member Posts: 11
I picked up my white TSX last night, total $27300 before TTL, the 5 options I got were:

Gold emblem kit, Sunroof visor, door visors, wheel locks, door edge trim

the quality is excellent! better than my 2000 TL

I'm not questionning the warranty you bought, but for the record, the Acura (and Honda) extended warranties absolutely DO cover the Navigation System.

hey there-- I am looking to buy a TSX in a month and you seem like you got a sweet deal. I test drove the car at Radley Acura in Bailey's crossroad and I am hoping to by my future car from them. Would you please give me a break down of the price you paid. How much was the price, title, tax and dealer fees? Thanks in advance.
  • hkcarkidhkcarkid Member Posts: 2
Looking to buy a 2004 TSX, satin silver metallic, non-Navi, 5AT. I'm about to buy from Tischer as well. I got a quote from Tischer for $24,945, $99 documentation fee, and on top of that a $545 destination fee. Was your price of $25,100 including the destination fee?

Have most people been paying this destination fee separately or are the prices people are posting here before they factor in the destination fee?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,659
I can't speak for everyone, but I'm pretty sure the only thing on top of the prices here are TTL. All sale prices should include destination.. If yours is 24.945 + 545, then your price is actually $25,490... Don't even get me started on document fees, but at least $99 is a relatively small amount.

Thanks for the info. I got the dealer to bring the price down to $25,100 + TTL plus all options at dealer cost. Not the absolute best deal but too shabby either. Plus the car is arriving the morning i'm buying. Thanks to all on this post for the great info, it was extremely useful as leverage!

How do I find out what the dealer price is? A friend of a friend that works at Toyota said mark-up on accessories is about 200% (yikes!!!). Obviously I can figure out the dealer price with simple math.

But, did you see a list of the dealer prices? I want the muds guards, SF High Polish Alloys, trunk tray, trunk net thing, and all weather mats (that should add a good $1500 onto my price :) I guess I could skip the alloys. But, then my carbon grey would be like all the rest. I kinda like the white now, too. I guess I'll decide on the color while I'm at the dealer.
  • johnny420johnny420 Member Posts: 473
Almost everyone who buys a TSX gets the all weather mats, trunk tray and mud guards thrown in with the deal.

That only leaves the polished alloys. Tell the dealer you'll buy elsewhere if he doesn't throw in the aforementioned items.

    Hi rutjk,

I live in Hoboken and plan to buy TSX w/Nav sometime this year (no rush). What dealers do you suggest.

    Thanks

Just bought a silver TSX from Park Avenue Acura in Maywood, NJ for $27,093 (including destination charge, NY tax, title, registration, documentation fee, etc) - this is the out-of-the-door price. No extras/options taken.

Also, got good service at the dealership.

I am in Southern California. Got my Arctic Blue TSX w/ Navi around end of Auguest 2004, from Downey Acura. I paid around $29,534 included (tax and license). I paid about $400 above invoice + Wheels locks and mud guard.

The experience was ok. I got their internet price quote first, so there is not much of bargain and Sales pressure. I asked them in e-mail with the best price I got and ask them if they can match or beat it.

I went to Cerritos Acura first, but they didn't have my color w/ Navi. My impression from them is that you can also get the same deal, if they have your car in stock.
  • saruhhhsaruhhh Member Posts: 47
My sister and I are both buying TSX's together (both auto with Navi). I got one place to go $400 over invoice. Then, I used that price to get another dealer to match it. Both dealers are about one hour from my home, in opposite directions. But, one has a 7.25% tax rate, the other is 8.25%.

As long as I can hold them to it (I can't buy for another week or two), I think I'll do okay. The second dealer said he'd beat or match. Even if he just matches it, I'm saving almost $250, per car (from the 1% tax rate difference). Not a lot when considering the overall cost of the car. But, hey, it's about one payment's worth of savings.

I will ask that he throw those items in (mud guards, all weather mats, and trunk tray). I want the trunk net, too. That stupid thing has to be installed!!!

Thanks to everyone for your posts. Reading the posts helped me with the purchase of my TSX. I bought a TSX with 6MT, navi, rear spoiler, mud guards and wheel locks last week in MD for $27,500 plus $100 (not including TTL). Great car.
