I was able to get a quote for $27,600 for a 05 TSX with Nav. Basically this was the 04 quote but since they didn't have the 04 I wanted he would give me the 05 for the same price.

Does this sound like a good price for the 05 (w/Nav)?
  • 4lax4lax Member Posts: 1
Curious if anyone has recently purchased a 2004 or 2005 AT TSX w/ nav in the Bay Area or somewhere close in Northern California. If so, which dealers are willing to negotiate and what prices have folks been able to obtain? From my initial discussions and dealer visits, it appears that demand continues to outstrip supply. Thanks

Where in MD, and what dealer? I live in Bethesda, and hope to buy a 2005 TSX next month when they come out.
  • achung1achung1 Member Posts: 6
I plan to buy a TSX soon (sometime in next 30 days), and so far I still haven't seen the 05' yet. I am still not sure I should just go for a 04' and ask for a better deal, or get a new 05' and show off to my friends.... haha...any advise?

What are the update beside XM radio? Any body style change like light design or wheels? (seriously, I think all the wheels they offer in TXS are kind of outdated... need something more aggressive design) Also, I am in SF bay area, and I wonder anyone would recommend any dealership for a lower price. I am looking for a black automatic with black interior and Nav. system. Does it come with blue tooth? I know that they use a newer and faster Nav. system on MDX 05' model... any upgrade on TSX? Please let me know. Thanks a ton!
  • downtownbrowndowntownbrown Member Posts: 6
05 brings minor upgrades only: XM, power driverseat, mirror defrost, lighted steering wheel. No style changes, no blue tooth (06?), to my knowledge, the same navi. The best factory wheel is the 5 spoke silver star for $1000 at dealership, or about $600 online. If you can get a good deal on a 05, why not? i just bought the car you're looking for, only with a 6 speed (04)- i love it! Dealers probably won't stray very far, if at all initially, from 05 MSRP until Dec. good luck.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all their posts in this forum. I just purchased my new carbon grey 2004 TSX with Nav for $27,000+TTL. They also threw in floor mats, wheel locks, mud guards and a trunk liner. I know the carbon grey is becoming very hard to find, after my purchase there are only 2 left in FL. I purchased from Duval Acura in Jacksonville. They were very helpful and easy to deal with. Thanks again for all the posts.

Congrad on your new TSX! By the way, I wonder about how you buy you car. Did you just step into a dealership? Or did you sattel most of the time online first before you even test drive it? I plan to buy on soon, and seem like new is a good time to get a 04' model since 05' is coming out soon. I haven't step into any dealership for very long time.... Please advise.... Thanks!
  • flfungirlflfungirl Member Posts: 19
The one thing I really don't like on the TSX is the 7 spoke rims. To me they look funny. I prefer the 5 stars. The Acura website lists the retail value of them at $1K and the spoiler as $499. Does anyone know or have a good idea of how much they'll tack on for installation? Someone told me that they were charging $700 total for a spoiler alone...to me that sounds like too much. What do you think? Should I just buy aftermarket?

I am gonna go lease hunting soon for the TSX.. I want to get White On Beigew w/spoiler. Maybe NAV if they cut me a good deal. Anyone have ANY GOOD TIPS on getting a good lease deal on the tsx.. From New York and there are around 6 dealerships in the nyc area/long island. There are ads in the paper with 3k down for 269 with no nav. Anyone have tips and tricks to get this car at an awesome lease deal (36 months 12k a yr) I appreciate all your help guys!

achung1- I did alot of research online (mostly edmunds) looking at reviews by consumers and magazines editors. Once I narrowed it down I test drove all the ones I considered(BMW 325i, AUDI A4, TSX, TL) After I found the one I wanted, I quoted the prices others were paying on Edmunds, I stuck firm and they agreed. Now is the best time to buy, end of year/end of month. Don't wait too long, the pickings are becoming slim. Happy shopping and good luck. -Av8vt
  • av8vtav8vt Member Posts: 3
Check out the lease forum and the Edmunds article on dissecting the lease deal:
    http://www.edmunds.com/advice/leasing/articles/102826/article.htm- l?tid=edmunds.a.landing.leasing..3.*

I had thought about leases too but opted for buying instead. You can make the payments anything you want depending on how much you want to put down. If you want to lease negotiate the price first before you start talking about monthly payments. Hope this helps. -Av8vt

I think you mean a power passenger's seat is new to the '05 TSX. A power driver's seat is already standard on the '04 TSX.

Also, I think you are wrong about dealers not willing to deal on an '05 TSX until December. Since, by your own admission, there are no major changes, there is no reason dealer's would try to sell an '05 TSX for more than they were getting for an '04 TSX. If anything, dealers may need to price the '04's lower, not price the '05's higher.

See this post for case in point:

No reason to sell a new 05 for more than a late model 04? I wish dealers actually subscribed to your reasoning. I still don't think 05s will stray too far off MSRP in the first two months, and they certainly won't be going for $25K (non-navi) and $27K (navi) like you're suggesting.
  • ethansquareethansquare Member Posts: 16
hopefully this will work.. i called an acura dealer up ... he tells me oh your in luck i got good deals on the tsx...390 a month.with like 3k down.. i told them he is insane straight up... a car thats 26k for 390 a month?
  • evileevile Member Posts: 5
I actually got a better deal on the TL but after test driving both I opted for the TSX. The TL is an awesome car but for me it wasn't as fun of a ride as the TSX. The difference shouldn't be that great so just go with the car you like better.
  • ethansquareethansquare Member Posts: 16
im gonna go to paragon as my first stop in tsx hunting for aA GOOD LEASE DEAL... did u go to any other dealerships in nyc/li besides paragon?
    thanks for the help
  • ethansquareethansquare Member Posts: 16
    whats up!
what kind of TL deal did u get? lease?finance?

    out of curiousity
  • evileevile Member Posts: 5
Canadian pricing though- the TSX MSRP is $33,800 up here. The TL is $40,800. They were willing to take the TL down to $36K and the TL had a lower APR. I got the TSX for $30K with tax in but the APR was 4.8%. Anyways, the monthly payments for the TL would have been a little less than my payments for the TSX.

Mazda was the same for the Mazda3 and the Mazda 6. Of course, who can really argue- the Mazda3 is so cheap, it doesn't make sense to lease. Anyways, in comparing leasing between those 2- the Mazda 6 had a low APR (for Canada) at 3/4% but the Mazda3 was at 7.1%.
  • manavimanavi Member Posts: 150
I didn't say there is no reason to sell a new '05 for more than a late model '04. In fact, I think I made my point quite clearly. Re-read my post for further clarification and try to make a reasonable argument to back up your statement that the '05's will see a price increase despite a lack of major changes over the '04's.

I can't thank everyone enough for all the info. I think the $25,100 + TTL sounds very good. What options did you get with that?

I live and work in the Baltimore area, and after sending out inquiries to about eight dealerships, the best internet deal I've gotten is $25,250 from Frankel Acura in Cockeysville. That's a good price to start from, but based on what everyone is saying, I should shoot for $24,700 to $25,100 (+TTL). And I should get all-weather mats, trunk tray, wheel locks, and mud guards included at a minimum. Does that sound right?

    Thanks again!!
  • celineceline Member Posts: 3
Invoice on non-nav is 24,700. Just paid 25 even in Jersey and got wheel locks and mudguards--no all weathers (hear they have good ones at Target)trunk tray or net. Saw a trunk tray and seemed flimsy as hell anyway. Even at invoice dealer holdback is @ $800, so listen to no dealer crying. Problem is, at least around here you are down to your last few '04's on the lot. When they're gone, they're gone. Color selection and right ingredients are very limited and hard to come by. I would jump for what you want at anything @ 25G's, or be sorry you did not.

I'm waiting for internet quotes from dealers but I took a trip to a dealer last night. I was kinda disappointed with the the amount of rear legroom. I have more legroom in my current 1993 Accord. Anybody have any real life comments?
  • curiousonecuriousone Member Posts: 7
I am about to buy a TSX automatic in a couple of months because my current car, 1994 Accord EX is old (although runs great). I guess if the prices of the 05 model is the same as the 04 model, given that the 04 models are all gone, would I be expecting to pay around 27.5K for the one with Navigation System ? Is the 05 with electric front passenger seat ?

    Any response is welcome.
  • emr2emr2 Member Posts: 5
Rear seat room is not as roomy as I expected. And the ride is pretty harsh back there under less than perfect road conditions. It's a sporty car and slightly roomier than the BMW 3 series. So it wasn't a surprise to me. Of course, I'm the driver so I'm not very sensitive to my back seat riders. My riders also felt the doors were a little too tall and windows a little too short.
  • curiousonecuriousone Member Posts: 7
I am considering these two models (with automatic) for my next purchase in a month or two, and am in a dilemma since both are so close in price and reliability. May be the back seats ride and accelerations are quite different.. ?? Can some one shine some light on the major differences ? Much appreicate it.
  • uncledaviduncledavid Member Posts: 548
There is a thread comparing the two cars elsewhere. But, the bottom line is the Accord will be a lot faster, have a much nicer ride, and have a bit more room. In turn, the TSX will handle a lot better, have slightly better material quality, and a few extra features.

Thanks for the reply Celine. I was going to start haggling at 24,700 and hoping to end up at 25,000 with two or so of the options. And you're right - the selection of 2004's is very limited. The dealer I'm working with only has 4 auto/non-navi models. Lucky for me, they have the Meteor Silver that I want. Unfortunately, my wife and I just made the decision to hold off on our purchase until '05. I'll be back on this site next year...
  • beetlebaileybeetlebailey Member Posts: 3
When I first visited a showroom, I was actually impressed with the rear legroom, and I'm 6'2". Of course, my expectations and criteria are different than yours. This car was going to be my sporty, fuel-conscious back-and-forth-to-work car, and occasionally be used for the family on short trips. I wanted a back seat that could handle two adults relatively comfortably for short trips, and be comfortable for my two young daughters. And like emr2 said, I'm the driver, so front seat room is more crucial to me. It depends on what you really want. If leg room is important, the TL or Accord may be better for you. Check it all out before you buy...

I own two Accords now and I really like them (both >150000 mi). Unfortunately I really don't like the back end of the new Accord or else I would seriously consider it. I have an appt with two Acura dealers tomorrow. Seriously considering TL now. Or else wait a few years for next accord redesign.

I have a quote for $24,900 for a Silver/Ebony TSX certified pre-onwed with 19,000 miles. It has navigation, fog lights, MP3 player, and sunroof visor. The certification extends the warranty for another 12,000 miles above the original 50,000 miles. The only fees added to the above price are sales tax (8.625% in NY) and title and registration ($79).
Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal?
    Thank you for your advice.
  • beanctrbeanctr Member Posts: 99
In California, the sales tax rate that you pay is based on the county (rate) in which you live and has nothing to do with where you purchase the car. So if you live in Alameda County you will pay at the 8.75% rate irregardless if you purchase the vehicle in Marin County or any other county.

Help! I am new in negotiating with car dealers. I want to lease a TSX w/nav.system in the Chicago area. I went to one dealership and the price they offered for a lease for 36 months and 15000 miles/year for a 2004 model was $27600
($468/month) without TTL...is this a good deal? The sales man also said that the 2005 models will have a higher price but he didn't know how much more....any suggestions on how to get a better price? should I go with the 04 or 05 model? Thanks for your help!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,617
At $468/mo, I doubt you will do any worse by waiting for the '05.

Did they tell you what the sales tax runs? In Illinois you have to pay sales tax on the entire price of the car... That will come to $65-$70 per month, most likely.

Just saw a dealer yesterday in Pittsburgh, he gave me the following figures: 29,700 for '04 with navi, lease 448 per month, 0 down, ~1500 for 1 months lease and other expenses. 48 month lease.
I calculated it and it seems I'll be paying about 21,000 in 48 months. Does this make sense to anyone? It seems kind of pricey to me.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,617
    Yes.. seems pricey.

Why are you paying over MSRP for an '04? The MSRP is only $29,0XX. Most people have been getting about $2K off MSRP...

If you added special wheels, etc, they generally don't get residualized, really driving up the lease price..

$468/mth seems steep for a lease to me. The pmt on financing $27,600 for 60 months at 5% is only $519.
  • scott31scott31 Member Posts: 292
To give you guys a lease reference. When I leased my 2003 Acura TL Type S with Nav, the selling price was $31,733. I paid 1st, Security, Acq Fee and Taxes up front. My lease is for $389.90 a month for 42 months.

$468 a month for a TSX is nuts.

It's past mid-October of 04 and the best quote I have so far on a base 2004 CGP TSX w 6spd is 300 OVER invoice from Keyes Acura in California. $25536. This price includes $545 destination charges but not TTL. Yay or nay? Should I press them further? The nice gent at Keyes also gave me a little lecture about the fact that they had only 3 TSX's in stock and that they were in no hurry to sell. He also said something I'm not familiar with, that the car is not on the lot, but is in transit? or something similar to it not being on the lot but can be ordered at any time... confused the hell out of me.

What s/b my first offer? I'm looking for a Carbon Gray Pearl 6 speed w/ ebony interior. I live in central Florida and from everything I've heard this color is hard to come by. What would be a fair offer? So I was thinking of trying to get it for around $25,000-$26,000...what do you think?
