Members who participate in our Internet vs. Traditional Car Buying discussion have found that giving the dealership as many specifics as possible gives you the best chance of getting a response. If you send a general e-mail without listing color & options, it's difficult for them to give you an accurate response, and prices will vary by thousands of dollars.
If the vehicle you want is available in the area, they can work with another dealership to get it for you.

TSX/NAV holdback is $876; TSX/non-NAV is $816
I'm planning on purchasing a '05 TSX/Auto/Non-Navi this upcoming Saturday. I'm mostly interested in a carbon gray with ebony interior but could also go with the Satin Silver. I will start requesting quotes this week. Is the $816 holdback still in effect? For Miami, is $25,500 including destination but before TTL and dealer fee a reasonable price? Also, any idea if Honda Financing will have low APR offers for Memorial Day weekend? Thanks in advance.
Do a TMV on the car you want here to get the invoice. Do not pay any attention to the part that says what others are paying---it only matters what you pay and I have always paid way less than what that shows.
Go the web site and see who they list as Internet mgr. -- call or email him and offer maybe 1000 less than invoice to see what they say. You will see invoice when you do the TMV part of research on a new car.
If web site does not show Internet sales manager you can call and ask. I have found that with some of the dealerships any salesman that answers the phone will say he is the Internet sales manager. So to prevent this if you do not see a listing on the web site call the dealership and ask for the new car sales manager and talk to him only and ask him who the Internet sales manager is.
Tell them you have seen people buying the car for whatever prices you see on edmunds.
I got a quote for TSX with no Nav for ....Thank you for requesting information on the new 2005 Acura TSX. The limited production TSX remains the most sought after performance sedan since its arrival in 2004. Your OUT THE DOOR internet price for the 2005 TSX would be $25987* add $2000 if considering Navigation System
*Your internet price includes all dealer coupons. Tax, title and license would be extra. St. Louis Acura offers FREE synthetic oil and filter changes for 4 years or 50,000 miles with new vehicle purchase ($500.00 value).
I just pasted the above from my email. The oil changes really reduce the price by 500 because that is what you could pay for synthetic oil changes. which are the best.
Hope that helps this dealership in in St Louis area.
I did the exact same thing, except mine was a red on black TSX.
The Austin dealers need to learn to negotiate better prices or they will continue to lose buyers to the Houston dealerships.
I still take my car to Sterling Acura for a free car wash once a week.
How about APR? Any special rates for the holiday? What's the lowest possible? With excellent credit I'm aiming for 4.9% or less.
This is a very informative and helpful board. Thinking of getting a TSX, but concerned about owning this car in NYC where everything is so cramped, and a car without bodyside moldings (and a large and flat body colored rear bumper) would get filled with dings and scratches in no time.
This is a very limited opportunity and only available for the holiday weekend.
Here is a breakdown of these special incentives.
All new 2005 Acura TL, RL, TSX and RSX models:
1.9%* for 36 months
2.9%* for 48 months
3.9%* for 60 months
All new 2005 Acura MDX models:
0.9%* for 36 months
1.9%* for 48 months
2.9%* for 60 months
*with approved credit from American Honda Finance Corporation. These rates are good through May 31st 2005 and will not be offered on June 1st. The 2005 MDX special finance program will be extended till July 5th 2005.
Navi St LOuis Acura has 3 with Navi and none being built. We have 1 on
the lot with Navi, and 3 being built. There were approximately 15 on
the ground in 6 states.

Dan,
The tsx with navi is the rarest of all cars. A used one will be
almost
impossible to find. You might be in for al long wait.

Thanks for the heads up!

It was a great car buying experience! The crew from Rick Case Acura in Fort Lauderdale, FL is very professional and true to their word. We negotiated a firm price via phone on Thursday. I walk out with a Carbon Grey/Ebony/Auto/Non-Navi with all season floor mats, wheel locks, and trunk tray for $26,000. This included destination and a $499 dealer fee. As previously mentioned, special finance rates are available according to the loan term. I was given 3.9% for 60 months. I would highly recommend anyone looking for an Acura to pay Rick Case a visit this weekend.
Happy to be a TSX owner
I really need some help on this one, since these rates end on 5-31-05. Are the dealers in the dark or are they trying to squeeze more money out of me? Can I really hold them to using these rates to cut me a deal? If so How?
Any help would br greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help. :confuse:

I'm in the market for a TSX Manual with Nav, in the Seattle area. What kind of prices are you seeing here? The color I want will probably have to be ordered. Is there a price difference in that case (since the car isn't taking up space on the dealer lot)?
Thanks.
All points of the deal were handled over the phone, and we were able to quickly come to an accord and close the deal. The nice thing is you aren't subject to sitting in the dealership haggling, and at the salesmans mercy. That is if you make it clear that there will be no deviation from the deal agreed upon over the phone.
All that said, I'm sure not all IM's are created equal, so make sure you're firm about what the deal is to be, and, once you get to the dealership to close the deal, don't back down from those terms, or fall prey to attempts to pad the agreed upon price with frivilous fees.
Your car buying experience will always be served by pitting different dealerships against each other, bidding for your services, so to speak. Make 'em duke it out for your hard-earned dollar.

A written agreement is infinitely stronger than a verbal agreement.

1) The Internet Manager 'Travis' at Norm Reeves Acura in Temecula was the best. Part of the "DCH Auto Group" which has dealers throughout the country. No tricks. No gimmicks.
2) I drove 50 miles to save major dollars not only on the TSX...but also gave me top dollars for my trade-in. I would highly recommend anyone in Southern California to be in contact with the dealership.
3) Prices quoted via email was superior to all other dealerships.
4) Quoted prices better than what I received from Costco.com, "AAA auto club", etc.
5) I could have easily just received the email pricing and just signed up at the dealer and out the door in no time...except that I drove a few cars.
6) Not all Internet Managers are the same. Other dealers were slow in response.
This definitely was the best buying experience. I would say that I had a total of four email correspondence before hitting the strike price.
Good luck to everyone. Highly recommend contacting multiple Internet Managers (some were pure rookies. One was rather rude in thinking four quotes were excessive...when I am the customer!). And hope that your experiences are as fine as mine.

In 1996, I ordered a new Acura CL coupe. The dealer assured me that the car was on its way, but after much investigation and communication with Acura management, I learned that the assembly plant in Ohio would not be building any CL coupes until after many weeks of production of Honda Civics had been concluded.
Needless to say, I was irritated, and when my '83 Saab broke down over July 4th, I bought a new Saab, because I needed a car and a Saab dealer had one, and treated me fairly.
Can anyone steer me toward, or away from, Acura dealerships in the area? I still have the '96 Saab, not a bad car, but my friends all rave about the reliability and low maintenance of Japanese cars, and I'd like to try one.
Sincere thanks.
Also if you are in the New York the sales tax has gone DOWN 1/4%.
from 8.625 to 8.375 effective from June 1, 2005 to August 31, 2005.
This dealer tried to get an extra $800 for the carbon Grey Color, but I stood my ground and was ready to walk after spending over 2 hours. I got my price.
remember, be prepared to walk.

When I started this buying excercise about one month ago I was targeting $27,500 + TTL for a black/parchment/auto/NAV. I thought is was a fair price from everything I had read. After starting out with "Internet Quotes" of $28,500, I went back and forth (by phone and email) to multiple dealers in Houston and Austin. I got my target price of $27,500 + TTL (Sterling Acura in Austin) on Wednesday and I put a deposit on it today.
Thanks for all of the posts and helpful comments.
