I havent tried them yet, ive tried Norwalk, Milford and North Haven (executive) and nobody seems terribly urgent or interested in 25500. I will look at Schaller for sure, but NObody is interested in including TTL for MT non nav for under 28.... in accordance with what ive read in this post, im rather suprised. Ive been calling and saying this is the price im interested in paying, if you hit it, ill buy it now. no bites.

For those of you who buy your car via email from the dealership, are you specifiying your color and and transmision choice to them? If so, how do you know if they have the car you want? Or are you assuming they will get the car from another dealer if they don't have what you want?

    Hi mam262,
Members who participate in our Internet vs. Traditional Car Buying discussion have found that giving the dealership as many specifics as possible gives you the best chance of getting a response. If you send a general e-mail without listing color & options, it's difficult for them to give you an accurate response, and prices will vary by thousands of dollars.

If the vehicle you want is available in the area, they can work with another dealership to get it for you.

What colors does Norwalk have in MT non-Navi?
  • orilliaorillia Member Posts: 5
$26600 ... I paid this for a 2005 no nav in December in that Chicago area.

    Guys,

I'm planning on purchasing a '05 TSX/Auto/Non-Navi this upcoming Saturday. I'm mostly interested in a carbon gray with ebony interior but could also go with the Satin Silver. I will start requesting quotes this week. Is the $816 holdback still in effect? For Miami, is $25,500 including destination but before TTL and dealer fee a reasonable price? Also, any idea if Honda Financing will have low APR offers for Memorial Day weekend? Thanks in advance.

Consumer Reports says that you should negotiate for prices by telling the dealer that you are looking at other cars. For example, the Toyato Camry XLE is actually cheaper than TSX, I think. Tell the dealer you are considering the Camry. By the way, the Camry is an outstanding car. :P

This is what I got from West Chester PA for '05 TSX/Auto/Navi in carbon gray pearl with ebony inxterior/ incl dest charge/ with spoiler/ protection package (propack) + TTL - $28,000. They have an offer of 4.54 APR.

Hi kfred 1 - Reading old postings here as part of my research on buying a TSX. Could you post the name of the dealer in NJ where you got your $25,510 deal?
  • linzuflinzuf Member Posts: 1
Okay I definitely decided I want a TSX and I am in central FL. What's best way to get the lowest price, I mean what are the numbers I tell the dealer so I sound like I know what I'm doing?? Would anyone have an invoice or something like that to show a deal like, "look i know you can go this low"?
  • kapoostakidkapoostakid Member Posts: 2
My experience since my post on 5/21, is, Blah! Apparently, in my territory of the NE, 6 sp. M. are as rare as dogs on a flea. Vaporware. Talking to a sales folk, he reminded me that the US gets only 20% of the production of these little gems--and they must be all ATs. They got my measely deposit-so's I'm hooked. Standing pat. TLs they got. But not my little baby. This smacks of the CabbagePatch craze of the 80's! Boo-hoo.

Here is what I always do.

Do a TMV on the car you want here to get the invoice. Do not pay any attention to the part that says what others are paying---it only matters what you pay and I have always paid way less than what that shows.

Go the web site and see who they list as Internet mgr. -- call or email him and offer maybe 1000 less than invoice to see what they say. You will see invoice when you do the TMV part of research on a new car.

If web site does not show Internet sales manager you can call and ask. I have found that with some of the dealerships any salesman that answers the phone will say he is the Internet sales manager. So to prevent this if you do not see a listing on the web site call the dealership and ask for the new car sales manager and talk to him only and ask him who the Internet sales manager is.

Tell them you have seen people buying the car for whatever prices you see on edmunds.
I got a quote for TSX with no Nav for ....Thank you for requesting information on the new 2005 Acura TSX. The limited production TSX remains the most sought after performance sedan since its arrival in 2004. Your OUT THE DOOR internet price for the 2005 TSX would be $25987* add $2000 if considering Navigation System

*Your internet price includes all dealer coupons. Tax, title and license would be extra. St. Louis Acura offers FREE synthetic oil and filter changes for 4 years or 50,000 miles with new vehicle purchase ($500.00 value).

I just pasted the above from my email. The oil changes really reduce the price by 500 because that is what you could pay for synthetic oil changes. which are the best.

Hope that helps this dealership in in St Louis area.

I'm back with the best news. I got the last 2005 TSX on the lot--and probably in a 50 mile radius of the dealership. 6sp., Satin Silver/Ebony, mats, trunk liner, moonroof wind shield, splash guards and all taxes and fees for (blushing): $28,100. Meteor silver was my 1st choice-but, but like its been said; you have to be flexible. Very happy. And thanks to all for your valuable info! Great site!
  • manavimanavi Member Posts: 150
I drove from Austin to Houston to get my Meteor Silver TSX non navi for $26k recently to save a few hundred bucks.

I did the exact same thing, except mine was a red on black TSX.

The Austin dealers need to learn to negotiate better prices or they will continue to lose buyers to the Houston dealerships.

I still take my car to Sterling Acura for a free car wash once a week.

Hi I live in St. Louis and wonder if you live here also, and since there are only two acura dealers wonder if they deal. I am looking for a tsx at...with nav ...what is a good price?
  • carjay99carjay99 Member Posts: 5
Can anyone tell me if there is indeed a $800 dealer holdback in effect for a auto TSX non-navi? I'm making my dealer rounds Saturday and hope to walk away with a brand new TSX.

How about APR? Any special rates for the holiday? What's the lowest possible? With excellent credit I'm aiming for 4.9% or less.
  • 18tito9318tito93 Member Posts: 4
I have seen photos of the TSX's interior where there is a silver metal trim and others where there is a wood trim. Does anyone know if these trims come automatically with a specific interior color, or is the wood trim a dealer installed accessory?

This is a very informative and helpful board. Thinking of getting a TSX, but concerned about owning this car in NYC where everything is so cramped, and a car without bodyside moldings (and a large and flat body colored rear bumper) would get filled with dings and scratches in no time.
  • robr2robr2 Member Posts: 8,805
Wood trim comes with the Parchment (beige) interior. Aluminum comes with the other 2.

I bought my 05/Auto/Navi TSX last week for $27,900 at Vandergriff Acura in Arlington (between Dallas and Fort Worth). This took just two trips between the salesman and salesmanager. The first offer was invoice plus $500. They have to make a living. They came back with invoice plus $800....I took it. Sure I could have gone back and forth, but shouldn't buying a car be fun? I like the thrill of the hunt as much as the next guy, but am I really going to feel the extra $300 over the next 39 months of my lease? Nope. They gave me a pretty fair trade in value $13K for my 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS. KBB hit it at $12,100 while Edmunds stated $14K.
  • djc314djc314 Member Posts: 18
is your $27.9 number out the door? or more with taxes etc?
  • hathaway1hathaway1 Member Posts: 1
I obtain a TSX w/nav from STL Acura at the end of January for $27,6XX. I did very little haggling for that price. This included the protection package they seem to put on all their cars. You shouldn't pay over $28K for one.
  • stillageekstillageek Member Posts: 114
The $27.9 was before TTL. All I got "free" was window tinting and wheel locks.
  • acurafan5acurafan5 Member Posts: 5
just purchased my car yesterday. got a 2005 carbon gray/auto/navi w/ trunk tray, wheel locks, splash guards for a whopping $26900 in the LA area (desitination charge was included in the price) + TTL.
  • carjay99carjay99 Member Posts: 5
    Finally!!!

It was a great car buying experience! The crew from Rick Case Acura in Fort Lauderdale, FL is very professional and true to their word. We negotiated a firm price via phone on Thursday. I walk out with a Carbon Grey/Ebony/Auto/Non-Navi with all season floor mats, wheel locks, and trunk tray for $26,000. This included destination and a $499 dealer fee. As previously mentioned, special finance rates are available according to the loan term. I was given 3.9% for 60 months. I would highly recommend anyone looking for an Acura to pay Rick Case a visit this weekend.

Happy to be a TSX owner :) :shades:

what dealer was that with? I am buying an AT w/nav very soon in LA. thanks!
  • jet1234jet1234 Member Posts: 16
Went to Radley Acura today in No. VA and got a quoted $26,400 for Carbon Grey TSX w/o Nav. But they did not have the special finance rates mentioned here for Memorial Day. They offered 5.5% for 60 months and I declined. Anybody else find that's in the case for Acura in this area? Thanks.
  • djc314djc314 Member Posts: 18
That is strange as I know it is going in st louis and received an email from a dealer in Kansas with the same rates.
  • piggydogpiggydog Member Posts: 5
all the TSX I've looked at have this sticker that says dealer installs the alarm for their security and it will be removed unless you pay for it but isn't it standard on the TSX? Anyways I think we got a good deal at 24.8K + $105 for mudguards + $300 for the alarm system + TTL. Out the door in socal was 27.4K which included TTL. Seemed like a good deal but not as good as I originally thought because of the $300 alarm package

keyes acura. ask to speak with the internet manager directly. good luck and let us know how you do.

Just bought a TSX non-navi, automatic from David McDavid Acura for $25700. The internet quote they gave was $26700 but I also got internet quotes from two Dallas dealerships for $25500. After some negotiation McDavid got down to $25700 before TTL so I took it. This price isn't as low as what some have paid but I feel it's a pretty good price for Austin. Hope this helps those of you looking for TSXs in the Austin area!

I live in the New York City Area and have been pricing the TSX. The two dealers that I visited today 5-29-05 was not aware of the the special incentive rates. They both indicated that the incentive was only on the MDX. When I showed them a copy of the edmunds messages they were in shock. Are these incentive rates so special that the dealers are hiding them from the customers?
I really need some help on this one, since these rates end on 5-31-05. Are the dealers in the dark or are they trying to squeeze more money out of me? Can I really hold them to using these rates to cut me a deal? If so How?
Any help would br greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help. :confuse:

Fred- I went to an Acura dealer in the DC/VA area on Sat and they did not know of the special finance rates, either (see post #1555). Based on what you've told me, I wonder if the special finance rates aren't available in markets like NYC and DC, where sales of the TSX are probably pretty healthy. My thought is that I don't think they would try to hide these rates to make more money, because they probably don't make the money from a loan, but Honda Financial does (unless there's a kickback system where for each loan the dealer sells, the dealer gets a bonus from Honda Financial depending upon the interest rate). I would think they want to the get cars out the door as long as their profit quotas are met, no matter where or how they got the money (loan, cash, or otherwise).

    Hi,

I'm in the market for a TSX Manual with Nav, in the Seattle area. What kind of prices are you seeing here? The color I want will probably have to be ordered. Is there a price difference in that case (since the car isn't taking up space on the dealer lot)?
  • delmar1delmar1 Member Posts: 744
What are the benefits with dealing with an 'Internet Manager' versus all the other reps at the dealerships? What exactly is an 'Internet Manager'...and how do they differ? Especially in pricing.

    Thanks.
  • johnny420johnny420 Member Posts: 473
The IM is basically just a salesman who handles potential sales gleaned through the dealerships website, or through a site such as Edmunds. I purchased my TSX this way, and it really was a relatively painless experience.

All points of the deal were handled over the phone, and we were able to quickly come to an accord and close the deal. The nice thing is you aren't subject to sitting in the dealership haggling, and at the salesmans mercy. That is if you make it clear that there will be no deviation from the deal agreed upon over the phone.

All that said, I'm sure not all IM's are created equal, so make sure you're firm about what the deal is to be, and, once you get to the dealership to close the deal, don't back down from those terms, or fall prey to attempts to pad the agreed upon price with frivilous fees.

Your car buying experience will always be served by pitting different dealerships against each other, bidding for your services, so to speak. Make 'em duke it out for your hard-earned dollar.

    Johnny
  • manavimanavi Member Posts: 150
I recommend getting the IM to fax you a "purchase order" with the description of the car you are buying (including VIN) and the OTD price before you head out to the dealership.

A written agreement is infinitely stronger than a verbal agreement.

Since I originally posted the question...let me wrap up my experiences in buying a TSX:
    1) The Internet Manager 'Travis' at Norm Reeves Acura in Temecula was the best. Part of the "DCH Auto Group" which has dealers throughout the country. No tricks. No gimmicks.
    2) I drove 50 miles to save major dollars not only on the TSX...but also gave me top dollars for my trade-in. I would highly recommend anyone in Southern California to be in contact with the dealership.
    3) Prices quoted via email was superior to all other dealerships.
    4) Quoted prices better than what I received from Costco.com, "AAA auto club", etc.
    5) I could have easily just received the email pricing and just signed up at the dealer and out the door in no time...except that I drove a few cars.
    6) Not all Internet Managers are the same. Other dealers were slow in response.

This definitely was the best buying experience. I would say that I had a total of four email correspondence before hitting the strike price.

Good luck to everyone. Highly recommend contacting multiple Internet Managers (some were pure rookies. One was rather rude in thinking four quotes were excessive...when I am the customer!). And hope that your experiences are as fine as mine.

congrats on your purchase! BTW, what was the deal that you got?
  • gkg680gkg680 Member Posts: 25
I would welcome comments from buyers in the Chicago area about good or bad experiences with local dealerships. I'm not quite ready for a new car, but the TSX appeals to me.

In 1996, I ordered a new Acura CL coupe. The dealer assured me that the car was on its way, but after much investigation and communication with Acura management, I learned that the assembly plant in Ohio would not be building any CL coupes until after many weeks of production of Honda Civics had been concluded.

Needless to say, I was irritated, and when my '83 Saab broke down over July 4th, I bought a new Saab, because I needed a car and a Saab dealer had one, and treated me fairly.

Can anyone steer me toward, or away from, Acura dealerships in the area? I still have the '96 Saab, not a bad car, but my friends all rave about the reliability and low maintenance of Japanese cars, and I'd like to try one.

    Sincere thanks.

Tito- To respond to your question I purchased A TSX Carbon Grey w/o nav for $28565 out the door.
Also if you are in the New York the sales tax has gone DOWN 1/4%.
    from 8.625 to 8.375 effective from June 1, 2005 to August 31, 2005. :)

This dealer tried to get an extra $800 for the carbon Grey Color, but I stood my ground and was ready to walk after spending over 2 hours. I got my price.
    remember, be prepared to walk.

    A done deal.

When I started this buying excercise about one month ago I was targeting $27,500 + TTL for a black/parchment/auto/NAV. I thought is was a fair price from everything I had read. After starting out with "Internet Quotes" of $28,500, I went back and forth (by phone and email) to multiple dealers in Houston and Austin. I got my target price of $27,500 + TTL (Sterling Acura in Austin) on Wednesday and I put a deposit on it today.

Thanks for all of the posts and helpful comments.

I have seen $26,700 here in Portland for a manual one without Nav. I think there is room to negotiate further, but finding one can be tricky. They seem to be selling well although I don't see too many on the roads yet. I don't think they are getting all that many in down here. Good luck...
  • manavimanavi Member Posts: 150
Glad to hear you were able to get Sterling to negotiate with you. $27,500 sounds like a fair price for a TSX with Nav. Don't forget to get them to throw in any extras you might want like all-weather mats (highly recommended), trunk tray, wheel locks, or mud flaps.
