It sounds like it's a done deal already so it does not really matter if it sounds like a great deal to us. It's too late to worry if you got a good deal or not because you can't go back and rework it. Bottom line is you have the car now so go and enjoy it!
  • 4jc4jc Member Posts: 4
Twoof1. Didn't pick up car yet and would still be under the three day rule to either cancel or possibly renegotiate. I'm seeing all of these $3XX numbers and starting to feel a little stupid. Did you lease and if so, what was yours?
  • twoof1twoof1 Member Posts: 308
Sorry when you said "Just leased", it sounded like a done deal.
As I have posted previously in order to asses the quality of a lease, you need to know the following details:
    MSRP (to base residual)
Cap cost (adjusted final sell price)
Money factor (multiply by 2400 to get APR)
    Residual %
    Tax rate (if applicable)
    Term of lease
    Additional fees (if applicable)
With all this information, go to a lease calculator web site such as:
    http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm
    or right here at edmunds:
    http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/CalculatorController?pmtcalActio- n=lease_calc&tid=edmunds.h..directory.calculators.3.*
and run the numbers. As far as cap cost goes, it seems based on what we have seen here on the board that anywhere from $6-7,000.00 under MSRP is the sweet spot.
You can greatly expand your knowledge by simply reading previous posts. That will give you information on what deals others as well as myself worked.
    Good Luck

My dealer had an extra EP that had to be used by year end, and since nobody else at the dealership was in position to use it, they somehow were able to transfer it to me on some type of Friends of Employees transer.

Basically, it was a $37,115 list with an EP price of $32,829. Take off $3500 rebate and my price was $29,329.

And the best part - the 39 month lease with the 15k per year miles and 1% interest came out to $339/mo with just first payment and Aquisition up front.

My wife is very satisfied. :)

Mine does and I was told that they all do for Chrysler. They also do seem pretty picky about damage, etc. I know my Ford lease was very laid back and you really didnt have to worry as much. Chrysler has yet to send me any info regarding what is acceptable and is not. I got it off the web but you would think they would inform there consumer.

when I leased my 300M, toward the end of the lease I got a little thing in the mail that included a piece of plastic, size of a credit card. That was to measure dents. If a dent could be completely covered by that piece of plastic - nothing to worry about. Otherwise I had to fix it.
  • 4jc4jc Member Posts: 4
I have never before leased Chrysler, (like I suppose many other Pacifica owners!), and this fee to return their own steel, on top of any excessive damage fees, is either a complete rip OR a ploy to get you to re-lease a new Chry and of course they would 'waive' the fee. My old Nissan dealer, though a bit of a shyster to negotiate with, never gave me a dispose fee.
  • chonkorechonkore Member Posts: 9
    MSRP $29,525

Final price $24,500 out the door, including everything, TTL.

Just base model, spent 2 hours fighting the sales and manager, :)

    How is the deal?
  • sitedriftersitedrifter Member Posts: 19
good deal. it is worth time and effort when dealing with the sellers.

I bought my Pacifica 10 or so days ago. $39800 sticker. After 7 days of arguing via email (never stepped inside the dealer), they agreed to $250 below invoice on any Pacifica. I went down and test drove a few and chose the Inferno Red for $39800. tissue was $36800 - $250 - $3500 rebate = OTD price of $33050 (+/- 100 or so)

I also got %3.34/60 month financing too.
I can't shake a stick at that deal.

I got 4.45% for 36 months, well, that's good enough for me.

Also 3 year's free oil change.

I noticed the pacifica on 30th, then sent the request on 31st. Went to dealer at 4:45PM, out at 7:30PM.

A very pleasure experience, but funny when bargain with sales and manager.

    Happy new year!

I don't think it's just Chrysler. There are many leasing companies out there that charge a disposal fee.
  • pams2pams2 Member Posts: 4
I am still debating about the Pacifica. The deal I have so far (and I don't think he will budge) is $200 over dealer invoice - $3500 rebates (which expire today). Everyone else on this message board seems to have paid less than dealer invoice - while mine claims he has to make some kind of "profit", plus he has to find the car at another dealer & get it to NJ (he doesn't have any blue). Is it true that there is no "profit" built into the dealer invoice price? I just can't believe that.
Also, thanks to all of you who have been so helpful with my other questions!
  • millpark26millpark26 Member Posts: 14
Not sure where you are in NJ but, I'm in NJ, too. Forgive me if I'm telling you stuff you've already done but, when I decided to buy my Pacifica, I went through the Chrysler website myself and browsed all the dealer inventories around me and found the exact Pacifica I wanted. Have you tried that? They're so user-friendly and you can even view the window stickers. I think the bottom line on the Pacifica is that you can expect to get between $6K-$7K off the sticker, including all rebates.
If you're set on buying from this particular dealer, then see if he'll throw in some free scheduled maintanance stuff (like oil changes, etc.) instead of taking away any more of his "profit". JMHO....Good luck!
  • pams2pams2 Member Posts: 4
Thank you, actually I just got home from buying my Pacifica! I went back to the 1st dealer armed with a very good price from another dealer for ordering one from the factory w/options. I told him that I just wanted to let him know that if he couldn't find my color, it was no big deal because this other dealer could order me one on Monday, at this great price, & lock in the $3000 rebate, etc. It took him a while but he eventually found a butane blue FWD with leather seats & a 6 disc CD player (not something I wanted in particular but oh well). It's in Pennsylvania so I won't get it until Monday.

    Price came out to: $30625 - 3500 rebate = $27125 + tax & tags.

    I got a 5 yr loan at 3.59% interest.

I did know about checking inventory and stickers online but hadn't been able to find the color I wanted. I called around & found that a lot of dealers had inventory that wasn't online & vice versa. One dealer explained that Chyrsler does all the updates and they can't really control it. Anyway, after all that, although I didn't get the $6-7K off sticker that you mentioned, more like $5.5K, I'm happy with the deal & can't wait to pick it up on Monday. Glad I could do this during the break, normally I don't have this kind of time. Sorry for this long message, I'm just really excited & can't help myself!

On Jan 2 we bought a Silver FWD with heated leather, Chrome, Powerliftgate etc but no sunroof or navigation system for $500 under invoice then less the $3500 = $28,331 total plus tax & license. We replaced a 93 BMW 525 touring wagon that just had an unexpected failure/replacement of the mass airflow sensor while visiting our son for the holidays. That instantly made the car almost inoperative & my wife was no longer willing to take long trips in the BMW. The other vehicle we considered was the VW Taureg but our best deal on that was about $7000 more. It had lots of offroad capability which we would never use. Took about 2 hours & had to deal with a trainee sales person who knew nothing about the vehicle, the cash back deals etc. We sent him off for literature & refreshments then dealt with a manager who did the ordering for the dealership & was quite knowledgable. I'm in the collection business & the negotiation wasn't to tough. We are pleased with the deal, love this new American StationWagon.

Silver, gray leather, FWD, roof, HID, power tailgate, winter package, radio upgrade, etc. Paid invoice plus transportation fee to get the vehicle from another dealer. Also bought a bunch of accessories (roof rack, mudflaps, cargo mat, etc) at dealer cost installed. I could have gone directly to the other dealer, but wanted to do business locally. Also I was trading a 1999 Sienna with 90k+ miles and local dealer was $1500 better than anyone else on the trade. That made it considerably harder to go elsewhere. The buying experience was excellent, they knew what I wanted and I knew what they could do. No stress transaction, treated very well.

BTW my favorite option is the HID headlights!

I assume everyone is getting the dealer invoice price from this site, right?

I'm not that experienced in buying cars, but I never thought people could get $3k or more BELOW dealer invoice with the rebates. How can Chrysler do this? As mentioned above, dealers always say they need to make some profit, but they can't be making a profit under invoice, or can they??? The dealer get's the $3500 rebate right, so as long as the negotiated price is slightly over invoice, they're still making at least $3500 from the rebate? Is that how rebates work?

This is good for me to know so when they pull the, "we have to make a profit" I can indicate that the rebate is their profit - I hope. Please educate me...

You might want to check out our Rebates, Incentives, APRs - Comments & Questions discussion in the Smart Shopper message board. Our Hosts there know quite a bit about this and many salespeople hang out in Smart Shopper. Overall, a great place to ask this type of question.
  • ipoddinipoddin Member Posts: 61
    I'll do that Sylvia, thanks.

However I'd still like to hear how people are getting thousands below invoice on the Pacifica...tales from the "front" really help.
  • rbrubakerrbrubaker Member Posts: 54
I hope this helps. These are the approx. price we paid for our Pacifica.

Dealer ad: $7000 off, one at this price. ($3500 discount, $3500 rebate)

    MSRP: $35,335
    Invoice: $32,337

    35335(MSRP) - 3500(discount) = $31725
    32337(Invoice) - 31725 = $612 under invoice

    31725
    +3500 tax & licence (approx)
    -3500 rebate
    ------
    31725 out the door

We actually paid more because we got the extended warranty and LoJack.
  • ramzey28ramzey28 Member Posts: 130
You should get invoice AND 2k rebate of that. It was 3500 in Dec but that has ended. Believe me the dealer still makes out and so does Chrysler. Invoice is not what it cost Chrysler to make that car. And the Dealer gets other incentives we dont see sometimes for the sale of a car as well as Dealerhold back, and money for financing the customer. (Depending on spread). Back in December for the above example some people where getting invoice 32377 -3500 rebate = 28877 or even less. The zero percent for 4 yrs and 2k rebate is not bad but a 4 yr loan on a 30k car is a hefty payment, unless you have great equity in your trade. Good Luck
  • monark49monark49 Member Posts: 58
is the price a dealer would pay if he bought just one car, which he does not. his actual cost is based on volumn buying. hence the invoice price doesn't mean squat. get all you can.

Does 399 a month 12k miles per year for 39 months
sound like a good deal? This is also with zero out of my pocket. V
vehicle msrp is 37645, Awd, DVD,Leather, moonroof, power liftgate, and roof rack
    also 500 under his invoice.
  • bjbird2bjbird2 Member Posts: 647
When I was shopping, $399 was what I was quoted for a similar model. I decided to get the base model without all the frills, although it did come with a lot of things that are options on other cars. 2wd gets better gas mileage, has better acceration and fewer problems, and we don't have much snow in our area. After years of having leather interiors, I'm finding the new cloth interiors very soft and comfortable. I can do without the power liftgate, again, more weight and potential problems. The roofrack is standard, you just have to get the crossmembers in the aftermarket for $150. I don't need the DVD, my kids are grown, and my wife and I entertain each other.
My lease on the base model is $309/mo with 0 down.
  • ramzey28ramzey28 Member Posts: 130
I think thats a good deal since the rebate is back to 2k, if the 3500 rebate in Dec was still alive, the deal would be a little high. I lease with a 2k rebate in Oct. for 370 a month for 39 mons MSRP was 35k. No out of pocket expense, nothing due at signing except 1st payment. I do hate the 300 turn in fee at the end of the lease, Thats stupid! I doubt Ill lease another Chrysler because I will want to try something different and Chrysler has not much to offer besides the Pac. I do love the Pac. but after 3 yrs it will be time to move on.
  • mellismellis Member Posts: 150
The rebate shows as $3,000 in the NE if you don't take the reduced financing. I assume that would work for the lease.

In Los Angeles, it's still showing a $3000 rebate for leasing as well. Good until 3/31/04.
  • juliec2juliec2 Member Posts: 25
I was just at our local dealer and they offered $28,995 + tax/title for an AWD Pac with only the leather and heated seat option MSRP is $34,400. They would have to order this directly from Chrysler. Is this a good deal or is it better to try to find one already on a dealers lot that has more bells and whistles? Thanks
  • ramzey28ramzey28 Member Posts: 130
In New England they are advertising 6-7k off MSRP now! The above deal is only 5400 off.
  • juliec2juliec2 Member Posts: 25
I am about to become a pacifica owner but I need advice... Two choices, a used 04 pac that was a corportate chrysler vehicle AWD and every option ever made ($42msrp)it has 14k miles for $29k or a brand new AWD base model with leather only ($34msrp) for $29k. I am tempted with the used because it seems like it would have already taken its biggest depreciation hit. What do you all think?
  • bjbird2bjbird2 Member Posts: 647
juliec2, check the build date on the used vehicle. It's on the inside driver's door. Some of the earlier Pacificas had problems, so I would prefer to buy one that was built after August 03'. Also check the maintainance records on the used one to see if any of the problems were corrected.

for her birthday. We're ready to move out of our T&C, but we still need something larger than a sedan for kids, etc. I'm looking for a 4wd with: nav, sun, leather, upgraded audio, hid, heated seats, power liftgate, full--sized spare, and cargo group (and hopefully in butane blue). After reading most of the posts here, I'm hoping to get the dealer to sell at $250-500 under invoice (plus the $3,000 cash back). Cross your fingers for me! We bought our T&C at the closest DC dealer and have always had it serviced there, so I'm hoping they give us a good trade (I'd take the Edmunds' trade-in TMV). If you're still following along, the MSRP would be $39,000 (with destination charge but before taxes) and the invoice would be $35,500. I hope to pay $35,000, get the $3,000 back, and (finally!) get $6,500 for our '98 T&C -- for a net price of $25,500.

This would be a good deal (I think), and I'll let you know if I can pull it off.
  • ipoddinipoddin Member Posts: 61
Good luck dwberson. Just make sure you don't tell them you are going to include the rebate until after you negotiate the $35,000. They may think you don't know about it and will go for the $35k price...then you drop the rebate. After that, then tell them about the trade in for an even further discount. Don't mention the trade in up front either or they won't be so willing to go for $35k!
  • juliec2juliec2 Member Posts: 25
good luck db on pac purchase! Lucky wife! If they have the car that you want on their lot you might even get closer to $1,000 invoice. I bet the prices on the 04 pac's will continue to decline because the 05's will be coming late summer. Also you may want to consider only taking the $2,000 rebate and 0% financing for 48mos. We figured it would save us over $2,500 in finance charges over 4 years!
  • ipoddinipoddin Member Posts: 61
    From the Sunday paper:

    MSRP: $32,820
    Power seller discount: $3322
    Selling price: $29,498
    Factory rebate: $3000
    Final cost: $26,498

Or lease for $269.93/mo + tax

39mo lease, $3,000 factory rebate + $3050 customer cash = $6050 due at signing. No security deposit required. 12,000 miles/year plus tax and license on above average credit. 730 credit score required.

Now, this still leave a lot of questions. It doesn't say how it's equipped. That power seller discount is just the diff. b/t msrp and invoice. Even if it's a base model, that's seems like a pretty good deal. What do you guys think? While I'm really looking to lease end of next month, do you think the same kind of deal would still be going on then?
  • juliec2juliec2 Member Posts: 25
Does anyone know if you can get as good a deal if you order your vehicle how you want it? I have heard they will still honor rebates and other discounts, is this true. Do they hit you with any other costs or fees? Is it true that if you want the dvd screen in back you also have to get the 6 cd/dvd player and the power liftgate? Thanks
  • pghmaxpghmax Member Posts: 7
You definately can order and get the incentives. My local dealer in Pittsburgh ordered me one with no obligation to take it. See post#236. We pick it up tomorrow. It took about 6-7 weeks to arrive.
  • cluelesspacluelesspa Member Posts: 648
yes you can custom order and some dealers will ask for a down payment. no extra fees typically. but bargain up front on your costs. I got mine custom ordered for under invoice :) Also in Pittsburgh (bracing for snow) ...

as far as DVD with screen (I would guess you need to get the 6 changer as that is where the DVDs go. the radio only has a cd player.) dont think you need to bundle the power lift but I love my power lift gate (specially with all the salt on the back gate keeps my hands clean)
  • juliec2juliec2 Member Posts: 25
I was able to work a great deal out with my local dealer, I will be ordering a new 04 pac for $500 under invoice and $2,000 rebates with 0% finance. I am so excited, I chose AWD silver with taupe leather, heat seat, moon, HID lights, 6cd, auto liftgate and rear dvd system. Now I can take the time to sell my current car down retail road. The 0% financing plus rebate was the clincher for me. Now I will be ablt to officially be part of the Pacifica's owners club.
  • bossman4bossman4 Member Posts: 6
Local dealer again. Just....$432 below invoice with another $2000 Rebate on top and 0% financing. It is the FWD with the works....all except the full size spare, cargo package, u-connect, sat hookup and backup sensors. Very impressive vehicle, initially didn't think we could afford it. I held on to our van and we will sell it ourselves. Keeping the Pac in the garage for right now. Too much snow for this brand new vehicle.
  • ipoddinipoddin Member Posts: 61
Posted this on another forum here, but thought this might be a good place to ask as well.

Anyone buy or lease in LA? Which dealer and how was the negotiation? I'm looking for dealers who are willing to deal! And it'll help me know what to expect and how far below invoice I can get.
  • dwbersondwberson Member Posts: 6
purchased the pacifica tonight -- $200 below invoice...the dealership couldn't have been better to work with.

since it's a surprise for my wife's birthday, they are going to deliver it with a bow!

We purchased our Pacifica last night and got a GREAT deal. I want to thank all of you for your help and input. The first dealer (a "friend" of a friend) wanted me to believe I was getting a great deal at $400 above the invoice price of $35,141. I emailed every dealership around and asked if they could beat the offer, and it dropped to $35,100, then $34,267, then $33,878, and finally I got $32,746 for a car with more options than I origianlly wanted at no extra charge. Before rebate and taxes. BUYING AT THE END OF THE MONTH REALLY HELPED. My husband wanted to add chrome wheels and a few other minor changes, but we left with a car with a sticker price of just under $40,000 for $33,089. So, bottom line, I was $3,662 under invoice (if I calculated this right). Add tax, doc, tag, title and extended 7/70 Max Care Warranty ($1,500 is that a good idea?), less $2,000 rebate and 0% financing and our total was $35,352. I would have started at that price if it wasn't for all your input, so thanks so much. Salesperson and Sales manager were great too. Now, back to that owners manual...
  • juliec2juliec2 Member Posts: 25
Congrats Pampered Sue! Yes, it sounds like you got a good deal and ended up @ $600 under invoice before rebates. I am not sure what to think about the extended warranty, I believe after the initial 3 years you then have a $50 per occurrence deductible. I guess you could look at it as you almost got the warranty for free since you saved money by shopping around!
  • adoyladoyl Member Posts: 2
Bought a AWD PAC Loaded with everything except the Phone connection, heated seats, and back up sensors for $2994.00 under invoice and before the $2000 incentive was subtracted. Beautiful car with a beautiful price!
  • howiehhowieh Member Posts: 3
In the Northeast I am getting just Invoice then the 3000 rebate when I am asking for quotes.

Where are you getting 3000 below invoice?

Also, what was the final price you paid.
