The car is pretty awesome without a lot of changes. Although the Infiniti G35 is nice, it is a gas hog and does not have nearly the same level of standard accessories (e.g. bluetooth) or level of refined interior finish that the Acura does. We also seriously considered the BMW 325i. A better performance car through the turns, but to get the equipment up to level of the TL you are over $40k MSRP with minimal discounting. Lastly, there are very few cars that really get MSRP after their initial year (in this case 2004).

In addition to the tire pressure monitor, Acura also made several adjustments to resolve the oversteering issue. The car actually drives noticibly different when you push it through curves. We test drove both the 2005 and 2006. The 2006 was much improved in this area.

I found a 2005 TL w/Nav, spoiler, and protection package for just under $31k. I am going to see if one of the many dealers, and I don't really care how far I have to go from NC, will go for $31,500 for a 2006 w/nav only.

I have seen them going in the $32s recently on this forum and hope that the end of the year signals a better price.

Thanks.

Hey - if you find this deal, post where you got it. I'm in NC and would scarf up that same deal in a heartbeat. I doubt you're gonna find a 06 Navi for 31.5, but if so, I'm there. Don't mind taking a little road trip to save big.
• jworthingtonjworthington Member Posts: 42
The '05 i found was not new, 4 months old with 5800 miles. We have compromised on $30,500 and I think I might just take that one.

I would prefer a new car, but if it means saving a grand or more, I think I would rather opt for the "slightly used" '05. It appears to be in great shape and he was meticulous with it.

If I get any bites from the car dealers with a deal that will approach that one, I will certainly post them here.

06 has improved "Torque Steer" . Front wheel drive cars don't oversteer, that is a simpton of rear wheel drive. Light blue on dark blue screen on non NAVI and Tire Pressure Monitoring are the ONLY other changes on the 06 with the exception of price which is $225 more and Freight of $515 up from $470.

Some of the OTHER changes for 06 are: Extended Warranty, New exterior colors (albeit they are slightly different but nonetheless new e.g. Royal Blue Pearl replaces Abyss Blue Pearl), and different exterior/interior color combos. ;)
• robertash100robertash100 Member Posts: 5
Abyss Blue is the same color as Royal Blue. Also Silver is the same with new name. Green has been dropped. Carmel interior is now only available with Red and Black. White now has Parchment or Ebony interior. Other items that are new is Dealer accessary of Wooden Steering Wheel and Carbon or Wood kits for front and Back. Also wooden shift knob. I think I have covered everything.

Anyone know what the 07 TL will be like? It will probably be the almost the same expect it might get a mid-life facelift. Anyone know if a facelift will occur and what will be in store?
• ggesqggesq Member Posts: 701
Abyss Blue is NOT the same color as Royal Blue. Speaking from personal experience, the Abyss Blue has a slight "purple" tint in the paint in certain shades of the sunlight.
Royal Blue Pearl does not have this tint and is the same Blue that Honda uses on its Accord & Civic.
Compare the two side by side (05 in Abyss vs. 06 Royal) and it will be clear that the two are not the same.
Also, it is in fact true that Acura extended its warranty from the 04 and 05's.
Can't speak on the difference if any in regards to the silver based on personal observations but Acura says it is different from previous years. Maybe some others on the board can give their personal observations. :confuse:

First of all, I want to thank all of you who have posted information on pricing and experiences. I've been reading the boards the past few months, and it's been extremely helpful with my negotiations.

I'm looking to get a automatic TL with navigation, and emailed all the Acura dealers in the greater LA area about a week ago, and I thought I'd share the offers I'd received so far.

Offers to this point are:
Weir Canyon $33035
101 West $33170
South Coast $33495
Thomas (Covina) $33420
Downey $33119
Glendale $32200 (matched Power's offer)
Power (Torrance) $32200
Tustin $33170
Santa Monica $32290

I was pretty much up front with all the dealers as far as what their competitors are offering; a couple (Santa Monica and Glendale) were more open to match offers.

I received no concrete offers via email from Keyes and Sierra (Alhambra)- just phone calls wanting to know when I could come in. I got no email back from Cerritos at all.
• elvis4prezelvis4prez Member Posts: 85
Pardon my skepticism but some clarification is needed.
32200 for TL Nav is below invoice.
Which offers include destination and which ones do not? :confuse:

If you can get 06 TL Nav WITH destination for 32200 you are getting one seriously generous Christmas present. :D
• chookalishchookalish Member Posts: 14
Believe it or not, all include destination. Once it got below the 33000 range, I was pretty much stunned. Most of the other dealers in the area have told me that anything below 33300 is a good deal, and that they couldn't go down that low.

The first low email offer I got was from Santa Monica, which was $32900. A day later, I got an offer from Power for $32200, via phone. I emailed Glendale with the offer, and they told me they would match.

The catch for Power/ Torrance is that they want $100 more if its a color they don't have on their lot. My first preference in color is blue, and it seems to be harder to obtain; anthracite is my second choice. Seems to be a ton of anthracite and silver around these parts.

Santa Monica is still willing to work with me as well, so I'm down to them, Power, and Glendale.

The only other fees are tax, license, $8 CA tire disposal (state fee?), and they all are asking for a $45 doc fee, which I'd imagine would be negotiable as well. There's also an optional $28 CA DMV electronic submission fee.

Wow that's amazing! I don't think either dealer in St. Louis would touch an offer like that!

Speaking of which: anyone have any experience buying a TL in the St. Louis area recently?

Remember the MAXIMUM a Dealer actually pays for a 2006 Acura TL with NAV is $31,760. I'm sure as the number of cars they sell increases they are sure to get a discount off that.

32,205 Base Invoice
+ 615 Destination
= 32,820 Dealer Invoice

32,820
- 1,060 Holdback
= 31,760 Dealer Actual Cost

At 32,200 the Dealer is still...
1)Making $440.00
2)Selling off inventory (TAX BREAK)
3)Increasing # of cars sold in 2005. (Bigger and better allotment in 2006)

So there are many reasons for dealers to sell BELOW invoice during the LAST week of 2005.

From this point on until Jan 03, 2006 its just volume numbers to the dealer. You've held out till the last possible week.. Dealers are under the gun.. Most of the other car makers are going for under invoice this last week of the year. Why should Acura be any different?

Good Luck!!

Do you know what the dealer pays for an 06 non-navi?

2006 Acura TL without Navi

30,384 Base Invoice
+ 615 Destination
= 30,999 Dealer Invoice
- 1,000 Holdback
= 29,999 Dealer Actual Cost

Happy Shopping!

I just went to Leith Acura here in Fayetteville, NC and this is what I got:

'06 TL w/ Navi
Protection Package (they say that they put it on ALL the vehicles and I cannot have it removed)

$33,500
$ 398 Doc Fee
$ 972 Taxes
$ 75 Title and License

Is this deal good or can I get something else? I have presented them the other numbers that I am seeing on the board and will wait them out if I must.

went looking today in earnest for 2006 Non nav car.without any negotiating started at invoice and by the time we left we were under by a few hundred dollars, plus 3.9% financing, not a bad deal..WILL THIS PRICING CONTINUE THRU 1/03/06 OR THRU YEAR END ONLY?? I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A HIGH VOLUME DEALERSHIP AND DO ALL YEAR END DEALS END WITH CALENDER YEAR OR EXTEND INTO JANUARY AS FINANCING DOES?

IN ADDITION,CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THE TL HAS A TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?? I HAVE GOTTEN DIFFERENT RESPONSES FROM DIFFERENT DEALERS AND WHAT IS THE MILEAGE REPLACEMENT INTERVAL IF ANY??

The doc fee might be negotiable.

I have, but they are all in the $33,700-$33,900 ballpark. I can't believe $398 for a doc fee--PA only charges $55.

We will see what today brings.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I'm in Dallas, and I just drove home in a brand new 06 TL w/ NAV Automatic(black/black)...I had a trade-in valued at $7500 and paid an OTD price of $28300...

Options I got were tint, body side molding, wheel locks, splash guards, trunk tray, and all-season mats...

I love my purchase so far, but I'm just hoping I got a decent deal considering this time of year...

Thanks for your thoughts!

I am shopping for an 06 TL with Nav in the bay area. Does anyone has good recent experience with any bay area dealer? Also what kind of deal can you get for your TL in this area? thanks.
• goodegggoodegg Member Posts: 905
All dealers in NC are charging the doc fee around $398. Total conspiracy. Try Performance Acura in Chapel Hill. A bit of a drive from F'Ville but they probably have a bigger selection and maybe better pricing.
• tcw3tcw3 Member Posts: 8
Hey Jeff,
I've been looking for 06 TL w/ Navi in Raleigh. So far the best I've gotten is 35,200 out the door from Performance. Leith says they'll beat any offer. I was looking for around 34,600 OTD. I think that's reasonable...$700 profit + holdback = $1,700 I'm going to call them today and see if they will do it. Leith has 72 TL's on the lot. Let me know what you hear from Fayetteville...maybe try a group purchase? I'm in the same boat, no rush to buy, but would like a new car at a fair price.
• liferulesliferules Member Posts: 531
Why would someone get rid of a brand new car after only 4 months? I have suspicions about that... I'd be sure that the dealership signs a paper stating the car has had no accidents or repairs during its short life...
• tcw3tcw3 Member Posts: 8
...or that it was not registered in Louisiana. There are probably a lot of flood damaged "used" cars on the market.
• topgun7topgun7 Member Posts: 412
Why not use carfax.com to find out the history of the car? People change car for a lot of legit reasons (losing job, moving, have a baby, cannot make the payment etc. etc.). But able to look at the history should give you peace of mind...

I thought I would share my recent experience purchasing a 06 TL w/nav. I had sent out E-mail requests and the best I could do was about 110 miles away. I then thought I would try to have a local Dealer match my quote he was reluctant but finally did $33,540 plus tax and transfer with flaps and pinstripe included. He was very anxious for me to take the car this week.I told him I wanted to drive the vehicle I was buying which I did today, but I noticed that the car had 185 miles on it and all of the carpets were dirty. I mentioned this to the salesman and he informed me that the car had been brought in from Ohio and this accounted for the miles and that the car had not been driven by anyone else. I had a uneasy feeling about the car and called the salesman and told him that for the price I was paying I did not want a vehicle with almost 200 miles on it and also need to have all of the carpets cleaned. He called me back and said his Mgr agreed to get me another car and I could drive it tomorrow. I stated to salesman that this may seem trivial and he did not answer only that we want you to be happy. So maybe some may call me to picky but I do not think the car should have been presented as it was.

Just completed my purchase for the TL, automatic w/ navigation at Santa Monica, blue/ quartz.

Price including destination is $31990.
Other costs:
Tax $2642.89
Lic $268.00
Doc fee $45.00
CA Tire $8.75
Out the door: $34954.64

All negotiations were completed on the phone/ email, so it only took about an hour to get through the paperwork. It was the most stress-free car purchase I've ever been through.

Thanks again to all for your insight.
• goodegggoodegg Member Posts: 905
Wow - is that an 05 or an 06 TL?
• jworthingtonjworthington Member Posts: 42
I would recommend calling Leith in Fayetteville and speaking with their Internet Manager...since I can't give you his name.

The price I got for an 06 TL w/Nav and protection package was $33,138 + 3% Tax, $76 TL, + $398 Doc Fee.

I opted to go for an 05 that I found online with 5800 miles, same package + spoiler for $30,500. It was a hard decision, but I could use the extra cash for something else.

I hope this helps. BTW, I was looking at an Anthracite / Ebony.

Prices have really dropped in the past month. I signed a deal tonight at McDavid in Plano for a 2006 TL without Navi for a drive out price of $33,000 even. That works out to $30,826 plus TTL - $174 below invoice. Fees totaled $192 for title, registration, inspection and vehicle inventory tax, plus $55 doc fee, plus 6.25% sales tax.
• timclarktimclark Member Posts: 1
Just bought a 2006 TL w/ Nav and Auto, Silver w/ Black interior. Realize now that maybe I should have pushed harder on price. Got invoice $32,205 plus destination, taxes, License & Reg and doc for $35,235 out the door.

Frustrating sales experience, half of the dealers contacted via the Acura website didn't respond to request for quote, and most of those who did, instead said "come on in for a test drive", even after repeatedly asking for a quote. Where was all this dealer competition I am reading about in CA?

Once at my local dealer, I ended up w/ a self proclaimed "20 year" vet who didn't even know the basics on the TL, and then tried to BS me through the sales process. I mean really, how many cars does he need to know at an Acura dealership?

Then he tried playing games w/ price, even though we had agreed on invoice, financing (tried switching to the dealers own credit ap vs. the online Honda ap I had filled out), delivery, and the usual other profit add on's. But the worst part was the BS time disappearing crap, I mean once the deal is done, just get it done.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Do you remember your dealers name? I am buying the same care in the same area.
• chookalishchookalish Member Posts: 14
It was at Santa Monica. As we're not supposed to post names of individuals here, I can tell you he is a general manager there, handles the internet/ email inquiries, and his email address is on the Santa Monica website.

The other So Cal location which was great to work with was the internet salesperson at Glendale. She was very straightforward, fast at communicating. If she found the color I was looking for at the end of last week, I would have purchased from Glendale, as the price difference was negligible.

Hope that helps.

I just got a similar deal from South Bay Acura in Torrance. 2006 TL, automatic with navigation. anthracite/quartz. Price with destination was $31,998. At this point the real trick is finding a dealership with the model you want to buy.

I'll just add that Keyes (Van Nuys) and Weir (Anaheim) both gave me high levels of entertainment by trying to convince me that paying more for the car was a good thing. I feel sorry for anyone who buys there. Has anyone had a good experience from them?

Just purchased a New 2006 TL Auto w/ Navi Red/Camel in Santa Monica Acura.

Price $32,290 (including destination)
Doc Fee 45
Tax 2344.29
DMV Electronic 28
Title and Lic 270
Tire Fee 8.75

Out-The-Door $34,986.04

I had the best buying experience there and I highly recommend them!!! If your in SoCal, you must check them out! Dealt with the Internet Department.

Thanks to all the post!

Can ANYONE help me find a black on black 6spd w/nav for a good deal like the ones posted here. I have one dealer local that wants $34k for it. At that price I think I'd rather find a good deal and pay $300-$400 to deliver it.

Anyone have ideas on prices for 2006 TL's w/ Navi in the NY metro area? I have been trying to go the internet route with dealers to save time and aggravation but the numbers they are coming back with (34-36K) seem way high compared to others shared here. Any recent experiences out there? Thanks.

Just bought ’06 TL AT Navi, 32820+TTL from Sunnyvale Acura. Dealt via Internet sales department. Initial quote was higher by I made my cont-offer and it was met. This is just my input on pricing in Bay Area, this is perhaps not an absolute best deal you can make, but I’m satisfied. And BTW, the car is awesome! I like that voice recognition too. I used this forum a lot for my research and I feel obligate to make my input too.
Happy shopping!
