    All,
A friendly reminder...This has been mentioned several times already. When posting prices, please indicate if you took financing from Acura or $1000 discount. Also indicate if your price includes destination or not.
  • bob89143bob89143 Member Posts: 2
Also, I did not take the Honda/Acura finance deal. I managed to get a rate below 6.0 for 60 from another source so it came out better to take the $1000. Purchase price included destination.

    There are some pictures of the 2007 TL-S on the internet, but they also have pictures of the base 2007 TL as well. Here are some of the 2007 features;

    - New front grill
    - Lower fog lights
    - Updated front bumper
    - Backup camera w/ Nav (Not sure if it's standard w/ Nav)
    - Turn signal on rear mirrors
    - New 3 spoke steering wheel
    - New alloy design
    - Some updates to the gauges on the dash
    - New rear tail lights

It definitely gives the TL a updated look since the car has already been around for 3+ years. Seperates the look from 2004-2006. Just in my opinion? At the same time, depends on how much more all of these 2007 options will run you. If it's under $1000, probably would be able to swing that... but if more, I might try to get a deal on the 2006's instead.

    Hope that helps?

I have not heard much mention of Clinton Acura in NJ, but I just picked up an '06 TL w/o Navi 5AT for $29,500. I did take the $1,000 incentive and did not finance. The fees were reasonable at $7.50 tire tax, $45 DMV (becuase I transfered plates from my trade-in) and $198 doc fee. It was a very good experience.

Looking at the DMV site for New York State, vehicles being registered in NYC should have no more than $142.00 in DMV fees for either the 2006 TL Auto or TL Auto w/Navi. Can people confirm what they have paid in DMV fees in the NYC area.

Here's my breakdown based on the curb weight of the TL Auto (3,580 lbs) or the TL Auto w/Nav (3,591 lbs)

Registration Fee [Weight of Vehicle (lbs.) 3551-3650]: $ 47.00 (2-yrs)
    Vehicle Plates:.........................................................$ 15.00
    Title Certificate:........................................................$ 50.00
    Vehicle Use Tax (5 Boros/Nassau)............................ $ 30.00 (2-yrs)
    Total:..................................................................... $142.00

Am I missing anything? I figure any so called "DMV" fees on a sales order must be additional fees the dealer has tacked on. Some fees such as Vehicle Use Tax vary by county and you can find the info here:
    http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/regfee.htm

Posted about this in the 2007 TL thread but I'll repeat the info here. Some more exterior color options in the 2007 model including a Kinetic Blue Pearl color (slightly lighter shade than the Royal Blue Pearl) and a Graphite Pearl (similar to the Anthracite but maybe a bit darker). The Redondo Red Pearl is gone. As for interior colors, Camel is no longer offered and Quartz has been replaced by a Taupe color. The TL-S will have the option of a Ebony/Silver two tone interior.

The way I look at it is that with the 07's coming in soon, these dealers need to get rid of these cars and from our perspective, these cars are basically a year old and have almost a year's worth of depreciation (even though there are 0 miles on the car) so they can afford to go below invoice...another question for everyone..when you guys go into a dealership, do you give them an out the door price your looking for (dest fees, state taxes, processing fees, everything basically) or is it best to target a base price on the car and let them add everything else up later? I'm thinking its easier to go with an out the door price and let them figure out what they can charge for the car and fit your state taxes right within the number your asking..I dunno..just a thought. I'm still trying to figure out how the other person got it for 31K out the door at Pohanka..that must have not included state taxes. Let me know what you find out.

Further to my post above, there probably should be another $37 fees for the NYS Safety & Emissions inspection tacked on bringing the total DMV fees to about $177.00.

Here is a form you can take to the dealership with you to make sure all the DMV fees are on the up and up. Look for form MV-202:
    http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/forms.htm#mv202

IMO, its best to go in with an out the door price in mind so that you are not surprised by any fees. Besides the vehicle sales price including destination, sales tax, motor vehicle fees which you can pull from your state's DMV website and a nominal fee for doc preparation, there really should be no other fees unless you add a bunch of accessories.

when i go to make my down payment tomorrow, what are the acceptable forms of payemnt? is a personal check ok? or do i have to go to the bank and get a certified bank check? any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • vluuvluu Member Posts: 100
Every car I have bought.... I have told the sales person the OTD price. It's just easier... I agree, let them figure out what cost what. What's the most important number is what you "pay".
  • charncharn Member Posts: 17
Just spoke to Radley over the phone and they said they would offer 31K before tags and taxes and said after everything is said and done, the total would take me to around 32,500ish. What do you think of that? The guy also said this offer is only good today/tomorrow and after that it would go up a few hundred dollars (I was chuckling at this time)...I would take 32k flat in a heartbeat but I'm guessing I may be able to get it somewhere in between for 32,300ish out the door. Anyone hear of a better deal in the N.VA/DC/MD area? If anyone was able to get it for 31K to 31.5K out the door with tags and taxes, I'd be interested to know. Thanks!
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Gonein60, thank you for the useful info. BTW, do you know what the fees are for transferring existing plates to the new car?

I figure if you get new plates, all DMV fees (including title, registration, inspection, tire recycling, etc, etc.) should be around $200. As long as your dealer is around the ball park, plus or minus 10 to 15%, I will not worry too much. After all, with NYS tax and all. the car (with nav) is going to about 35k OTD, assuming your car is about 32k before TTL. So, a difference of $20 to $30 in DMV fees isn't going to break the bank.

Sounds like you are close to getting your new ride. Am I right?
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
You're right, a difference of $20 to $30 in DMV fees is not a deal breaker for me. I'm willing to pay a nominal fee for the dealer taking care of all of the DMV stuff for me as long as its not outrageous.

According to the DMV schedule new plates are $15 while plate transfer is $7.50. One dealer quoted me DMV fees of $67.50 plus new plates fee of $130-$140 OR plate transfer of about $50. I'm assuming this particular dealer's fee includes all fees including inspection, so its in the ballpark. I'll have to confirm if I go with that dealer though.

Getting closer to getting a vehicle, hopefully I could work out a deal this weekend. How did you make out at Curry? I've read some not so good experiences with them at acurazine, so I don't think I will make the drive there even though its about the same distance as some NJ dealers.

I just picked up my new Acura TL today and they are letting me pay tomorrow -- I am not financing. The finance person said a personal check is okay and a certified check is not needed.
  • acuratl123acuratl123 Member Posts: 5
I am in Austin but the taxes should be about the same. Here are the taxes I paid today on an Acura TL:

    Documentary Fee/Deputy Fee: $55.00
    State Inspection: $21.75
State Sales Tax .0625 of purchase price
Dealer Inventory Tax: $78.20 (not required by law)
    License and Registration: $105.30

    Hope this helps
  • acuratl123acuratl123 Member Posts: 5
Thanks everyone for the information on pricing. I am returning the favor.

I am in Austin Texas and I just paid $32,000 for a new 2006 Acura TL with navigation. No trade in was done and I paid everything outright. After market add-ons and taxes were added on top of that price. I was not able to negotiate any of that lower.

There are two Acura dealers in Austin and both agreed to that price.
  • crushergcrusherg Member Posts: 10
I do not see anywhere on the sites about the 1000-. what is it?, a rebate?
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Well, so long as we are aware of the approximate amount of DMV fees, we should be ok.

I am debating whether I should go with Rallye or Curry, as both are quite close in their base quotes, excluding TTL. Assuming their so called doc fees and DMV fees are also close, I don't really have any preference.

You may get better deals in NJ, but I heard they tend to charge extra high doc fees. So, in the end, you may end up with total OTD price close to NY dealers. If the difference is less than $200, I would prefer staying in NY, particularly if you have to account for toll and gas, plus extra time.
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
I may pay another visit to Rallye but I'll have to see. The internet guy there sort of didn't want to go below the $500 over stated invoice and didn't want to seem to discuss things further, so his loss if I go with another salesman that can do even a little better. Valley Stream & Island Acura in Wantagh are still possiblities for me as are Ramsey, Open Road and DCH Montclair in NJ. Doc fees for Open Road were quoted at $298 while they were $159 at Montclair. They all seem to be relatively competitive, so it may come down to who has the color I want. If its within a couple hundred bucks, I prefer to buy locally as well.
  • ae9ae9 Member Posts: 19
    Kennyg,

Didnt you say about a week ago Rallye & Valleystream were in around 32,200? i dont recall the exact post...but im from LI so I wrote that # down.....& i think that was taking the financing....seemed like best #s around here were around 32K with financing incl dest +TTL or 31K taking the 1000 incentive....am i on the right page with you & gone in...?

    Thanks
  • crushergcrusherg Member Posts: 10
Everyone keeps throwing around this 1000- incentive that I do not see on the ites.

Also number keep going around and the numbers are not clear if they include the 1000- or not.

TL w/ NAV should I be paying 32000 or 31000 (incl insentive)?
  • ae9ae9 Member Posts: 19
    crusherg,

there is a factory to dealer incentive IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THE ACURA special financing 2.9 for 36 mos, 4.9 upto 60 mos....If you find your own financing then you can take an extra 1000 off the price ( although some dealers play games with that).....From what ive seen on this site....the best prices anyone has gotten is around 32K if they take the financing maybe a tad under & 31K if they find their own financing ...YOU WONT necessarily see this 1K advertised anywhere but its there either 1K off or acura special financing.

    hope that helps

I had the most wonderful experience @ Davis last night. They accommodated me in all possible ways, including my last minute request for color change. Price was $31680 OTD for TL w/o NAV - as they said over the phone (29350 base). I leased it for 3y, 12K miles, RF 56%, MF 0.00241.

And the car is worth all the money! Hope you all enjoy your TLs as well. Good luck!

I emailed Clinton and told them I saw someone just got a new TL for $29,500 and would be willing to drive from PA if I could get this price. Here is the quote I got:
2006 TL Black on Black w/o Navigation

$29,675 - Includes Wheel Locks, Splash Guards, & Dest Fee
    $1,780 - Pa Sales Tax (6%)
    $98.50 - New Plate/ Registration
    $198 Document Processing

So that's $31,751.50 OTD. There was no haggling - this was the first response - a good first impression IMO.

I am offering it to my local dealer, if they do not take it, I am going to Clinton on Saturday to buy. I have to trade a 2001 Acura CLS so I hope that does not blow the deal.
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
As far as I know, those quotes are without the special 2.9% financing. Both of these dealers presented their quotes to me as either take the incentive or the financing, not both.
  • tlladytllady Member Posts: 4
I told them the price you got and asked them to match it. They sent me an email right away quoting 29,675 - not bad. Can you tell me how you did on your trade in? Did you get a good deal? Was it close to NADA trade-in? I am worried that may be where they try to get me.
  • charncharn Member Posts: 17
Can anyone confirm for me the basic warranty that comes with new 06 TL's (i.e. 3 years or 5 years?)? Also, what did you guys pay for exnteded coverage and for how many years/miles? I'm trying to get a good idea of what a reasonable price would be since warranties are negotiable. Thanks guys!
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
4 years/50K miles for the vehicle
6 years/70K miles for the powertrain
  • johoallenjohoallen Member Posts: 1
We bit the bullet and bought a TL on Monday night from Sterling Acura in Austin. While I think we probably could have knocked a couple of hundred off, we weren't too unhappy with $32,500 plus TTL. It came with the pro pack.

    We used the "folder" method.

The salesman did a good job; email me if you are interested in his name and we'll give you a preview of some of the sales routines!

BTW...I LURVE this car: royal blue pearl with quartz interior. Still working out the kinks on the Nav system - accidently engaged "the voice" and she kept trying to make me do U turns on Lamar! :shades:

I was out at Radley yesterday and took a really good test drive. I was basically offered the same deal... invoice - $1000 (rebate) + Tax, Processing, and Tags. I know the $1000 rebate is suppose to end on Sept 4th, but I pretty sure it will be extended. I think $32,500 OTD is a good deal if you are not in a rush, but if can haggle and wait... I'm sure you will be able to get 32K OTD soon. I looked on autotrader website and Radley still had 130 new TL's in stock. If it's worth waiting .... you can definitely get it down further. That's my opinion. I would love to get it for under 32K. I think when the 2007 arrive... it will go for under 32K for sure. 2007 are suppose to arrive in late Sept to early Oct.

Concerning extended warranties, check out the link to Bernardi. Choose what warranty you're interested and it will give you a quote. They're about as low as you can get.

Interesting..I was planning on going in today and offering 32K flat out the door with taxes/tags no questions asked..however it doesn't look like I'll be able to get that..we'll see when I call them again tonight..I'm not in a rush but if I can get it soon, that would be nice..I just wanna make sure they have my color in stock if I decide to wait 2-3 more weeks. Thanks for the input.
  • ae9ae9 Member Posts: 19
it seems most people are around 32K w Acura financing & 31K with incentive +TTL incl dest....so id be suprised if Rallye & Vally STream best #was 32,2 applying the 100 incentive....you definitely can not combine the 2 as you noted BUT 32,2 w the 1000 incentive means 33,2 if you take acura financing & thats certainly not great deal at this point over invoice....
  • vluuvluu Member Posts: 100
Believe me... they have tons of them. If you go to autotrader.com and do a search, you can see all the inventory... plus you will see the exterior and interior color combinations of all the inventory. I happen to go there earlier and they now have 143. 13 up from this morning. I'm really torn between the Lexus ES350 and the TL. TL is such a good deal for the $$... with all the bells and whistles. I really want the Lexus ES350, it is just hard to pay basically 7-8K more for a car. Good luck with the search... keep me posted.
  • gonein60secgonein60sec Member Posts: 56
Well, both these dealers quotes to me were in $32 range with the incentive. I called Rallye today to see what kind of quote they would give and it was again in the same range. The only thing the salesperson said was that they are looking for at least $500 over invoice and that if I came into the dealership and they had to go lower they could maybe work something out. Why don't you pay them a visit and see what they tell you. I would be interested in hearing about it.

I just brought a 2006 Acura TL AT on Tuesday, August 29. I wish I read this forum before I brought it. I love the car but I think I could have gotten an even better deal. Maybe $500 less or more. Here is the information on my purchase. I hope it helps those who are look to buy a TL.

$30,000.00 - Internet Price, $1,406.00 - Accessories (truck tray, carbon fiber steering, wheel locks, body side moulding, deck lid spoiler, splash guard), $792.18 - NC Sales Tax, $55.00 - Registration Fee, $398.00 - Document Fee, $32,651.18 - Total Cash Price

I also end up putting down $496 more for Tire and wheel protection against road hazard. I figure I will probably need it someday. The plan sounds great at the dealership; however, when I read the policy at home I found the reimbursement / claim procedure quite cumbersome. Anyone has experience with this type of coverage / protection? Please advise. Thanks.
  • charncharn Member Posts: 17
Very nice deal you got for all the extra accesories..did you by any extended warranty or additional paint/leather protection (5 year warranty)? If so, how much did you pay? How did you get the internet price? Thanks and congrats!

    krlesch62,

Hey, I'm looking to buy a 2006 TL w/ Navi also. I live in Minneapolis. Did you ever pull the trigger at Buerkle?
  • caltmancaltman Member Posts: 280
    aj4321,

Where are you located? I'm in MN, and I'm just beginning to fire my lobs at a few dealerships. I forgot about the holiday weekend with sales, etc. Let me know if you want me to keep you posted on my prices that I'm finding. Have you bought yet?
  • caltmancaltman Member Posts: 280
    jchochhausen,

Did you ever pull the trigger in Mad town? I did my residency there. I looked (couldn't afford) at TLs when we lived there, but I had heard that they didn't really deal there all that much because of lack of competition... let me know what you did. I'm in Minneapolis now, and I'm on the cusp of buying an '06 TL w/ Navi.
  • bcad1bcad1 Member Posts: 1
What car dealership did you use? I also live in the Raleigh area and would prefer to purchase a TL in NC versus driving to NJ. Thanks
  • aj4321aj4321 Member Posts: 37
I'm in Detroit. I haven't purchased yet. It seems like the dealers Michigan have limited inventory and are not willing to reduce prices. Auto/navi $32,400 + tax and Auto/WO Navi is $31,000 + tax are the best prices I'm getting in this region. Yes - please let me know what you get in MN.
  • mathdanmathdan Member Posts: 4
I purchased a 2006 auto with navi last night in Sunnyvale CA. Price was 31100 which had the $1000 figured in since we had our own financing. Dealer threw in wheel locks for free. Did it originally through an internet site then had some local dealers bidding against each other. Actually had a slightly lower quote from another dealer but they did not have the color combination in that we wanted.
  • sas099sas099 Member Posts: 13
Hey. I'm guessing you bought this at Leith in Cary. They wouldn't match the price that Sussman in PA. I did end up buying mine at AppleTree in Asheville. 30,674.00 + T and T. That price included the 4.9 financing and wheel locks, splash guards, trunk tray and door guards. I also sent a women I work with down there and they gave her the same deal.

    Goodluck.
  • caltmancaltman Member Posts: 280
Ok. Those prices don't seem too bad though, right? I've been emailing back and forth with the Internet Sales guy a couple times. They are having a Labor Day sale this weekend, but I haven't heard back from him again. There are a couple 2005 TLs here with 6k miles on them that I may go look at, but I usually (sadly) only buy brand new. It would save me about $5-9k depending on how well I do. I'd only buy if the car was very clean though otherwise I want new... just finished 9 years of school/training, and I have the delayed gratification thing cooking and want to buy something new for myself.

Mpls./St. Paul has only 2-3 dealers so I'm guessing I won't be able to do much better than what you wrote back. We'll see. I'm in no hurry, and I may wait until the 2007s come out and then try to low ball on a 2006. Keep checking the forum, and I'll keep you posted. Please do the same! I haven't found to many Midwest posts here.

I've negotiated a deal I'd like to solicit opinions on...

'06 TL with Navi - MSRP of $35,853

31,500 with the $1000 dealer incentive

Does this sound like a decent deal? The big issue was my trade and what they were willing to give me for, started at $5,000 and now are at $7,500. Still not want it's worth since they retail at 10K and auction between $7,200 to $8,100.

Other than that, I am not quite sure I like the MF for the lease at what I think is .00293 (waiting for the guy to confirm). The MF would equate to a 7% APR with is slightly above current new car loan rates of 6.9%. The general guidance, from what I understand, is that MF or lease rates should always be lower than new car loan rates.

Thanks for everyone reviewing this request.

31,500 with the $1000 dealer incentive

Around the DC/VA/MD area... 31,500 is pretty much the quote when you ask about pricing. Depends on your area? For the most part, it's a good deal. The DC/VA/MD area has dealers with large inventory, so they are willing to sell lower. Is the $1000 still be offered? Thought it was suppose to end on Sept. 1st. Although, I figured Acura would probably extend it... so they can get rid of the 06's.

Trying to get a deal on price and trade-in is always hard. Basically the dealer will try to get their $$ off the purchase or trade-in. It's hard to get a 'steal' on both sides. Good luck!
  • jbihun1jbihun1 Member Posts: 16
Thanks. Yeah, the Chicago area dealers have a ton of inventory, one dealership at 16 on the lot. Another have near 30 in total.

I am taking my car to carmax to see what they will offer, heard they do the best on value.

What about the money factor? Is there anyway to lease the vehicle not thry Honda?
  • radeonproradeonpro Member Posts: 6
In Portland, OR. I was trying to have them match the price people are getting here for around 29k. But the dealer wouldn't do it and insist to sell me one with Northwest Protection package (standard on all Oregon TLs) for $31k. They said that even if I go down to California to get my car, I would still have to pay the 8% tax, since Oregonanians are not excempt from taxes buying cars in Cal, only in certain states like Texas, is this true? After half hour of negotiating, I was offered a 06 TL w/o Nav Auto, for $32500.00 OTD (no taxes here). That's including the bodykit and spoiler installed and the dealer will pay for registration in DMV. I figured that kit and spoiler is around $2300, TTL is around $200, so the car is about $30k. Is this a good deal?
