I just bought my car in Beaumont, Tx from Classic Acura. The salesman and mgr. were extremely nice and very helpful. My final out the door price on a pearl white/parchment is $33,900. That includes my dark window tint. My car is in production now and will be here in 8 days! I am really excited! Can someone help and reassure me that I am getting a great price on the car?

    Hey qainspect,

I don't think I am allowed to post the sales persons name on this forum. But if you ask a quote thru edmunds, they will send you one right away. My first quote for a 06 TL auto with Nav. was $30,389 (includes destination), but I wrote back and ask for an out the door price that includes all TTL. They wrote back with $33,239. They are pretty straight forward, I just picked my up yesterday afternoon. Yesterday, they still have pretty much all the colors.

    Good luck!

Does the OTD price included financing? Do we usually need to pay more if we want to finance the car? Any advice is much appreicate for a first time buyer. Thanks!

    mr25boy,

Hey, Congrats on your new car. What color combination did you end up with? Can you send the breakdown of your OTD price of $33,239? In other words, car price? sales tax? registration? etc or any detailed breakdown would be appreciated.

Did you buy from Santa Monica? Are they still offering the special financing? Just wondering.

Great car that I am hoping to buy.

2006 Acura TL 6spd + performance tires No Nav

    car $30,950
    tax 928
    tags 71

Drive away $31,946 Picked up the car yesterday.

Was a major battle with the dealer in Cary, NC to negotiate the price whit a lot of hardball on both sides.

I confirmed the price & that the car was in-stock three times with the internet sales guy.

Then when I went to pickup the car I get the big O-BTW its not in stock so you need to pay an additional $600 to have it shipped from another dealer.

Walked out & had a phone call on my answering machine that it was all a mistake & they would honor the original deal.

Congrats on that. Leith wouldn't even budge for me. I ended up going to Appletree in Ashville. They gave the TL at 30,674 with trunk tray, splash guards, door edge guards, and wheel locks. Great experience.

Again, good job with Leith. Enjoy your TL.

Can someone help me on this price? I am still getting the car below invoice, right?
  • bearavhistorybearavhistory Member Posts: 13
Yeah, its usually very hard to move them.

I live in Raleigh & have a 2004 BMW 330 convert but wound up with Performance BMW in Durham for that one. Much better price the Leith & also got factory delivery with BMW driving school down in Spartanburg SC.

Could not get Leith to move much on it & they never talked about the driving school.

To work out your deal you have to break down the price out like I did above & list what equipment is in the car.
  • mr25boymr25boy Member Posts: 4
    Justalaguy,

I brought the white / black combo.

    06 TL with nav. = 30389.00
    Doc. Fee = 45.00
    CA Tax = 2510.81
    DMV e-filing = 28.00
    license = 197.00
    Registration/Transfer = 61.00
    Tire fees = 8.75

    OTD price = 33239.56

I am not sure if they still have the special financing but that should be very easy to find out. Good Luck!

I purchased an '06 TL w/Navigation, and am being offered an extended warranty through Acura, for $1210, 7 years/70k miles.

I anticipate driving no more than 10k miles a year, and may have the car 4-5 years. Although at re-sale, I think these are nice to have, don't I have some other warranty options down the road, if I am interested?

    Thank you!

The 2.9, 3.9 & 4.9% is in effect since last week, about Sept 5th IIRC. Good into October

In Chicago, TL Anthricite with Nav and mud guards

Paid $31,800 with (with $1,000 dealer cash) so 32,800 MSRP was $35,940

I know I could have done better but was tired of the process.
  • bearavhistorybearavhistory Member Posts: 13
Problem is the wording that says "Dealer participation may vary". IT also says: Financing Start: 09/06/2006 End: 10/31/2006

Also if the dealer worked in the $1,000 dealer cash to cut your price he cant give you the rate too.

Deal is good in NC, I just picked up a TL with no down 60 months @ 4.9%

Try going into the Edmunds Acura car pricing thing put in your zip code click on incentives & see what comes up.

I bought mine last weekend at Muller in chicago area
new 06 tl auto with nav silver/quartz including destination for $31,800. + Added Acura wired ipod adapter $401, plus mud flaps and locks for $137. Also feel I might have done better if waited until the end of Oct which is end of the month and quarter but still VERY happy for $36K car plus list of $499 ipod and $200 list for lock and flaps installed.

    ae9,
Sounds like you're close to getting your new ride. I'm scheduled to pick up my new TL w/nav next week also. What dealership did you end up going to? The dealerships in NY have all told me that the 2.9% financing is no longer being offered, but the $1,000 dealer cash incentive is still out there until 10/31/06. This has been confirmed by edmunds.com.

Bought a new 2006 TL 6MT with Nav NBP exterior/Parchment interior at Vandergriff Acura in Arlington TX for 32,800 plus TTL. Included window tinting, wheel locks, and trunk trays. I was planning on waiting to special order a 2007 TL with these exact features when to my dismay I found out that the manual trans. in the base model would be discontinued.

I overpaid probably but I really wanted this particular rare combination of colors and features (manual trans. and Navi).
I could have gotten this car in late June for 32,600 from Vandergriff Acura. There is an interesting saga to this. Read the next post for my reprinted letter to the General Manager of David McDavid Acura in Plano, TX. It is a cautionary tale.
  • musicman220musicman220 Member Posts: 15
Below is the letter I wrote to the GM of David McDavid Acura in Plano, TX. All personal names have been replaced with "XXXX":

    Dear XXXXX:

I am writing you to make a complaint about an experience I had with your sales staff.

In June I took a test drive with your salesman, XXXX. I no longer have his card and do not remember his last name. He was professional and friendly and informative at the time.

In late June I also test drove a 2006 TL at Mac Churchill Acura in Fort Worth, TX. This car had the features and colors I wanted, (Black ext./Parchment int. 6 speed MT with Navigation) and I made them an offer. We were unable to agree to a price, and I decided that I probably would not get the best deal on a car with them.

I asked both XXXXX at David McDavid Acura and XXXX at Vandergriff Acura to give me a quote on a car with these specific features and colors. Vandergriff Acura responded within a couple of hours with a decent quote and told me they could acquire the car (presumably from Mac Churchill Acura.) I never heard back from XXXX at McDavid Acura. I agreed to Vandergriff's price and we arranged for me to come down the next morning and give a deposit and have them acquire the car.

On my way over to Vandergriff Acura the next morning, XXXX the salesman at your dealership (McDavid Acura) called me and left a message saying that they "had my car" and asked me to "come take a look at it". When I got to Vandergriff Acura , we found out that David McDavid Acura had called MacChurchill Acura and and lied to them, telling them that they had sold the car (even though I had not given McDavid Acura a deposit nor had we discussed or agreed on a price).

XXXX or his sales manager had acquired the car from MacChurchill Acura under false pretenses, I suppose in order to force me to come down to your dealership in person, hat in hand, and deal with them on their terms and at their mercy.

Your dealership would not release the vehicle to Vandergriff Acura, and as of today, it still sits on your lot since I refused to deal with your staff under these circumstances.

I consider the behavior of your sales staff in this instance to be manipulative, unethical, and representative of the tactics that give car dealerships a bad name. I did a lot of research both in test drives of many vehicles and internet research before I decided on this car. The tactics used by the David McDavid sales staff this summer have caused me a great deal of trauma, inconvenience, and money, in what I had hoped would be one of the better experiences of my life: getting a really terrific car.

I spoke yesterday to your General Sales Manager XXXX and told him about this incident. Apparently this car has not sold and I made him an offer of $30k, including all fees except TTL. Given what I have experienced with your staff this summer, I would not feel good about buying this car from you at any higher price. I am continuing to look elsewhere for a car in the meantime.

XXXX, who referred me to you, assured me of your personal integrity and encouraged me to contact you about this matter. I was unable to reach you in person by phone, and I wanted to write you and let you know what happened at your dealership, and also let you know my feelings on the matter.

Thanks for your time and attention.

    Sincerely,
    XXXX

(David McDavid Acura, to their credit, released the car to Vandergriff Acura this past Wednesday at Vandergriff's, and my, request. I will also say that David McDavid staff was friendly and courteous in their dealings with me on the phone and in person. However, after that above described incident, I would never deal with them again. The General Manager to whom I sent this letter never responded to the above letter, which is why I requested Vandergriff Acura to make another request to trade for this car.)

(I also had been posting about what I was doing on this board during my search last June. I suggest that all of you be careful about what you say here because I believe that many car salesmen read this board to find out what their prospects are up to. I had told the original salesman at David McDavid Acura that I read and posted to the Edmunds board. A dumb mistake, I realize in hindsight.)

By the way, I love my new car. And I recommend Vandergriff Acura to anyone living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They are relatively honest and straightforward and easy to deal with.

    Gonein60sec....

agreed to 32K before TTL with HIllside ACura, probably could have gotten same price prior to Sept & the 2.9% , oh well the pice I think is reasonable for our area....im further into suffolk so didnt want to deal with NJ< WEstchester or CT.....got blk.blk w nav/auto for 32K which is still about 800 below invoice so im not too disappointed. the car is actually a gift for my fathers 6oth anyway, not for me, so hopefully Ill have good karme in the end

    Sale price of car $31,650
    Taxes (6.25%) $1,978
    Fees and Doc. Fees $272
    Total OTD $33,900

This is a white diamond pearl/ parchment interior, automatic w/ navigation system. I will pick it up in Beaumont, Tx (Classic Acura) within the next week(in production now). The price does include a window tint but I am not sure about the wheel locks, tray, and splash guards, hopefully it will come on there but I will be happy either way. Would you consider this a good price?

For those who are in So CAL.

After reading this board for over a month, I bought my TL (08/18) from PLANET ACURA in Downey.

I exchanged correspondence with the Internet Sales person and negotiated a price of 30,665.

The car is an '06 TL pearl white / parchment / navi, auto. The car had 2.1 miles on it when I picked it up. Production date of 08/06. Drove up from San Diego and picked it up and drove back down. The dealer was EXTREMELY friendly and very accommodating.

Added the trunk tray and wheel locks minus the mud guards ( which I bought online from acurapartspeople.com for about 60 bucks and installed myself).

    30,665 for the car
    added 100k warranty
    and lojack -600 bucks.

out the door was just slightly over 35k ( 7.75% tax in ca.)

I would reccomend PLANET ACURA to anyone. BTW, over the phone, Tustin was VERY rude even after I expressed my intention to immediately purchase.

I called planet, they "unwrapped" the car, detailed it and stayed late on a friday evening to wait for us to arrive.

    Big Kudos! :):):):):)

I am offered a 24 mth lease on Acura TL w/ navi. for 575 per month, with zero down. The residual at the end of 2 years is 23550. Is it a good deal? I am planning to close the deal in 2 days. Anything I should be worried about? Thanks!

Hey Just picked up 06 TL with Navi for 33,000 OTD.
Grinded them like hell but they finally caved in.
sale price was 30181 plus fees = 33,000
that should be the new bench mark for those looking for a TL with Navi in Los Angeles.

This is an amazing deal. Can you send the details of the dealership, the email address of the internet sales guy and the breakdown of 33,000$.

    Thank you so much.

You guys are making car buying experience so much easier.

That's a great price. The only problem is I really would like to have the new features/upgrades like AUX input, MP3 compatibility, better ride, improved navi, better looking steering wheel (subjective of course), auto on/off headlights on the '07 TL.
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Sure, you can get all those upgrades if you are willing to pay the higher price. We all know that car makers come up with a few new things every year to make their cars sell. But if the new things are not that important to you (in the overall gadgetry or performance of the car), it is always a better deal to buy the current model and pay a lower price. If everyone takes a I'll wait for a new model attitude, many car makers will go bankrupt!!

I'm considering the same car and I live near Philly, can I get a heads up on which dealer you dealt with for the $31,100 TL/Navi.

Another dealer is trying to get me to buy a demo, any thoughts on how much off a demo with 3800 miles should be reduced?

    Thanks in advance!
  • dampfnudeldampfnudel Member Posts: 131
True. I just feel paying $2K more than what most people are paying now (let's say $32K) may be worth it for me considering the improvements/new features/resale value. And before anyone says dealers will be charging sticker for the base '07 TL Navi ($36K, maybe). I seriously doubt that especially in competitive regions like SoCal or NJ (where I would buy). Another thing in my favor is the holidays. If it was the '09 TL, that would be a different story of course.

The only question I have now is should I get the white, silver or carbon bronze (my three choices). :shades:
  • eseireseir Member Posts: 26
Looking to purchase one of these. All three are offering great Deals. I can get a 3.6 with Pack 1 for 27K plus Tax, Tille, and fees. Both the the TL and the G35 for about $3000 more plus the fees. Both the Passat and the TL seem much more upscale on the inside than the G35. Both the TL and the G35 are entry levels luxury vehicles and the dealer experience will be the same. Both are Japanese and perhaps more reliable over the long run even though all three offer similar warranties. THe Passat reminds me a lot of my current 03 Audi A6, which is a good thing. A nice driving and powerful machine and the price seems good for such a nice vehicle. But the Passat might suffer in resale value so eventually I might get more for the [non-permissible content removed] brands. Dont' Know. Oh Decisions decisions and more dicisions. ANyone out there with a 3.6 passat willing to share their experiences?

I wonder why the navi option on base TL went up to $2.5K ?

edit- I forgot the backup camera in addition to NavTraffic.

I would advise anyone in York PA to go to Baltimore or Harrisburg (maybe Lancaster). The sole Acura dealership in York is pretty much a study of "Only game in town", developing an exclusivity attitude that doesn't really exist. My Acura TL buying experience actually started last year but was postponed by keeping an old Saab going for another year.... I guess you could say I got the ultimate low price.

My wife saw a Blue/Parchment TL and got even more excited when she saw it was a manual - at the York dealership. I knew the pricing, so I offered them 33.5K just to lock it up, no questions or "fluff talk" from the salesman. I'm sure this price appears completely ridiculous to folks in this forum, but remember - we have already saved thousands by just keeping an old car going a year longer.

THEY TURNED IT DOWN! We were shocked! We split, my wife was dejected and I just told her that I'd hunt around and give it over to internet sales - we would get a far better price but probably not the exact car she loved. I told her that they're trying to get rid of their "lot queens" down in Baltimore or elsewhere. She agreed.

Baltimore was hungry! At one dealership I got the definite feel that they were really trying to to dump one car in particular - it looked really "sunburned" like it sat on the lot all season. They started at 31k with no fees. I said no - didn't like it. They started going lower and I said it wouldn't help, I just didn't like the car.

We got to Frankel Acura on the north side and found a price of 31k, (really 31.8 because of mumbo-jumbo fees that everyone knows don't really exist) and the salesman would actually try to find the car my wife wanted. I warned him that we were from PA, so don't deface the front bumper (we don't have front plates in PA) and don't put that stupid dealer logo on the back either. Also save the sticker price and brochure (we like to have this when we sell the car someday to a college student or such - they seem to like that) He was very accommodating - putting up with my idiosyncratic behavior. We gave him the order of preference on color the only hard deck item was that it had to be manual. Couple days went by and he found a blue/parchment TL! We went down and picked up the car and while waiting I casually glanced at the sticker price to see where the car originally came from....

It was the exact same car that was on the York PA lot!
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Good story ... it pays to shop around. Hopefully the drive wasn't too long. In any event, since you saved $1.7k, I'm sure the savings justify even if you had a fairly long drive. :P

    jbhun1,

What did you end up doing? I'm up in Mpls./St. Paul area, and am looking at lease vs. buy right now on a TL w/ Navi. Initial price for buy w/ $1000 cash back is $32679... not so hot. The lease deal is the 24 month that they are doing. For 15k miles/year, they want, $3750 down (includes all fees, tax, licensing, first month payment, etc.) and then $478/month. I might be interested in driving to Chicago area if I can get a better deal.

I just purchased a White w/ parchment '06 TL with Nav on 9-23-06 For $1200.00 under invoice using the James Bragg 'Fax-Attack' method found at FightingChance.com.
I faxed 9 dealerships and after 3 days had it down to 2 that continued to underbid one another. The dealership I dealt with had/has just under 100 '06 units in stock so they're motivated. My out the door price (including destination, taxes, tags, transfer fees) would have been $32,500, but we also traded in a '94 Volvo (110,000 miles, headliner falling off, needs rear main seal, needs rack and pinion, and suffers from mystery stall) which brought our final line on the check to $31,400.
The Invoice on the car, with destination, was 32,875 and MSRP was $35,995.

I purchased my 2006 TL (Anthracite & Ebony, 5AT, NAVI) from Buerkle Acura (Brooklyn Park, MN) one month ago for $32,248 (+TTL). I worked with their Internet sales manager, and used the "Buyer's Offer Spreadsheet" from carbuyingtips.com to formulate my offer prior to contacting the dealer. At 1st, they were only willing to accept my price on 2 vehicles that had "been on the lot a little longer than the sales manager would prefer". To that, I responded that although I understand the sales manager's position, since they accepted my offer for a 2006 Acura TL (with all the goodies) it should apply for ANY 2006 TL they had in stock. The next email they gave in. All in all, a very pleasant buying experience, no BS doc or floorplan fees, no pressure to buy additional items or extended warranty. When I took possession of the vehicle they had installed the locking wheel lug nuts, and the sales person said "oh well, I guess you get them for free." Free is good.... :)

Sweet krlesch62!! I was just up there today looking at them also. The back lot was locked up, but it looks like they have a lot of stock. I'm going to buy now instead of lease... don't like details of a lease. I'm going to offer below $32k as people are getting them down around Chicago in the mid $31k. Who did you work with at Buerkle? Did you call Luther's Acura dealerships too? I would like Anthracite with Parchment, but I think they are pretty rare. I'll settle for the Quartz interior. Thanks for the post!!

Has anyone had an issue where their Acura dealership wasn't showing the same credit score as what you can get through sites like myfico? On Saturday they said my Experian score was 685. I checked this morning, and it was 713. I'm wondering if this was done on purpose to get me to agree to a higher finance rate.

    rekonn,

I think you are right. I've seen/heard of them checking the three biggest credit score companies and coming at you with the lowest of the three. I'd just bring in your own run on yourself and hold your ground. Other thing you can do is go to your own bank/credit union and get the loan through them. Then you can tell them you don't need their financing. Or, you can do what I'm going to do. Get the check from my bank, and then use it as an additional bargaining tool: they like to see you have the money ready to go, but then if they can beat the rate you got at the bank, then you can use that to your advantage!! Where are you, and what interest rate did they offer you with your 685 score?

5.9% for 5 years, which I think is good, but I was going for the 4.9% for 5 years. The total difference over 5 years is about $800 bucks. I'm fine with them picking the lowest one, it's just that my Experian score should have been 713, and not 685. I've been trying to find a way to speak to an actual person at Experian, to ask them what was the score that they supplied to Honda Financing, but that seems impossible.
