The dealer I went to test drive at had 143 on the lot... another one near my house has 205 on the lot. Like I said, there's a lot of inventory in the DC/MV/VA area. You can do a search on autotrader.com and search for the 2006 TL's and they list what each dealer has on hand. Sometimes not all the cars are on the lot.... they store them on an offsite location.
I think you have to have the car shipped to you, to get out of paying the tax.. I'm sure someone that has bought in CA from out of state will chime in to give us the specifics..

Did you pay any TX tax or registration?
Was the TX dealer able to register in LA and not in TX?
Car was a brand new one? at ~3900 under MSRP?
You could not find the same deal in LA?
What about the Lo Jack or the etch that come with 5 years of paying to replace your car after insurance payments to the current model?
Also, you can get a vin etching kit for about $20 and do it yourself.

This from a Northeast dealer.
Just to remind you that choice of color combo decreases as time lapses. If you wait for another 3 to 4 weeks, I doubt if you will be able to get you want, unless it is a color combo that nobody likes.
Priced the vehicle in Arizona and Texas via the net and the savings was not worth making a road trip. Only one Acura dealer in NM and the closest competition is about 500 miles. I consider myself geographically challenged.
I had a 2001 TL (mint) and they offered $11,800 on a trade.
I said thanks but no thanks and sold it privately for $13,700. Actually had the car for a hair under 6 years and got almost 50% of original price ($27,800). Al in all,I'm happy.
Happy motoring.
Congrats on your new ride. What color combo did you get? Glad to hear you had a good experience with Curry. I've heard mixed things about them, so I was a bit leery. What did Curry charge for doc fees? Sounds like its about $200. How far a drive from the Whitestone is Curry? How many trips did you have to make there?
Where did you get your tl in Oregon? I am in Portland. Did you talk with other dealers? Tx
I am being told in NY that the 2.9% financing is gone....seems the best deal I can get is 32K for auto w Nav...does not include protection package.....I specifically want black on black...am i better off going to NJ at this point? thanks I need the car by the end of this month
Good luck.
My car is silver/ebony. The tax alone on $32k is $2680, thus subtotaling $34680. The doc fee is $45, and the DMV fee is about $180, plus some stupid item called used tires fees ($15). I believe they overcharged DMV fee by about $40, but considering they put in a full tank of premium gas ($50), I have no problem with the OTD price, as a whole.
Curry is no more than a 20 minute drive once I cross the Whitestone Bridge. I made 2 trips there, about one hour each. The first trip was to test drive the car, choose the color combo I like from their stock and sign the contract. The second trip was to pick up and inspect my new ride, receive a quick training from sales as how to operate the navi and hfl phone, and to finalize the deal. All in all, a fairly good experience.
You may save a few hundred if you shop in NJ or PA. But consider the time, gas and toll, plus the fact that you want to make sure the deal is legit and goes smoothly, the savings doesn't seem to justify the anguish in not being able to do a good deal in one shot. Moreover, once you pick up the car, you still have to register it in NY, which requires you to take a day off, and time is also money!
I guess thats just a hard pill to swallow bc I could have had that same price & 2.9% last week.....
Kenny- you obviously did your homework....is a blk/blk TL auto with Nav @ 32K a fair price at this point?
thanks for all your insight
If you live in NYC or LI, 32k is not a bad deal by any means, though it is not as attractive as those purportedly offered by NJ and PA dealers. You need to do your homework before deciding which dealer is trustworthy and suits you best.
Remember, time is running out on the 06 models with navi because many people want them. Most dealers I visited had a lot more TLs w/o navi. Good luck!
Thats a nice color combo and probably the lowest maintenance in terms of maintaining its looks. I liked the Nighthawk Black Pearl/Camel combo the best followed very closely by the Royal Blue Pearl/Quartz. I ended up going to Rallye Thursday night and getting a TL w/Navi in NBP/Camel. The car is not scheduled to arrive in the dealership until this weekend or next week and I should be able to pick it up next week.
I paid a bit more at Rallye at $32,175 plus TTL, $35,051 OTD. I actually had better quotes in NJ and one dealer in Northern NJ, the price difference was at least $500, but it sounded a bit too good to be true. Considering that NJ dealer was probably close to an hour drive from me and that I would have to make a couple of trips up there, it was a tough call. Rallye wouldn't even look at the NJ dealership quotes I provided them but I got them to come down a bit and at least match the quote I got from Island. I still have a bit of angst about leaving money on the table, but all things considered, Rallye is within a 20 minute drive from my house and that I can get a loaner during service. One more thing was that I will be getting a car fresh off of production and not one that has been sitting in the dealer's lot these summer months. I think those intangibles were worth paying a bit more. The sales lady wouldn't throw in the pro pack but did include wheel locks and included the first oil change. I'll probably pick up an OEM cargo tray and all-weather mats on-line. Still debating whether I should pay the dealer to put on splash guards.
I actually had a better offer from Valley Stream by a couple of hundred bucks, but they didn't have the NBP/Camel combo. They did have my second color choice but that won't come into the dealership until early October.
2006 TL auto, non-navigation - $31,870.25
2006 TL auto with navigation - $33,853.28
Does anyone have any experiences in the Los Angeles area?
I am not too thrilled with Valley Stream. Their showroom needs quite a bit of work; but I heard they are moving to a newer place.
Do you know if Rallye gives free car washes with service? I wonder if I should take my car there for service since it is about the distance from Curry.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your new ride just like I'm enjoying mine.
I haven't shopped for a TL in a couple of months (might try and get back into the end of year purchase and hopefully pick up a nice 2006 at a better price than quoted before.
The prices you are getting seem like a good deal based upon my research two months ago.
Which dealer are you going through? How is the inventory - getting smaller? Still a lot of color selections? Are the dealers in LA still offering special financing?
I was working with Santa Monica and Power in Torrance before when I was shopping for a new TL.
Good luck.
I just got another quote today from Santa Monica for an 06 TL with Nav. for $ 33,239.59 (out the door with title, taxes, destination, and license). He said they have every color.
Good luck with your search also. If you find a better deal, pleaes let me know.
I'm in the Valencia area the price you were given by S.M. Acura who was the person that you spoke to.I want to see if I can get that deal.
Thanks
