But hey, well played, dealership. You made a few extra bucks, and time will tell if I'll be back or recommend you in the future. In any event, it was a good learning experience for me as I still got a pretty good deal and won't make these mistakes again.
If Bridgewater, NJ is not too far for you, I can provide you contact info for the salesman I worked with.
As others have said on this site, the keys are to know exactly what you do and don't want and be willing to walk away (you can do that by having other dealers with similar prices waiting). I also think end of month and arrival of 2008 models helped a bit, but not too much. Knowledge is king - have it and the dealers will know it, not mess around with you, and you'll get a great deal like I did... a 2007 TL Navi with tint, deck lid spoiler, trunk tray, all-season mats, body side molding, and door edge trim for <$36K OTD price (tax is 6.25%).
Car-only price couldn't have been more than ~$500 over the Consumer Reports reported dealer cost, which along with the Edmund's reported invoice price is what I used as indicators of success. Good luck!!! :shades:
I purchased my TL Type S Auto for $34,944 + TT&L from Columbia Acura (close to I-71 and I-275 north of Cinci). That price is roughly $500 off of the invoice for using the 3.9% finance over 60 months (that deal might be over).
I used internet pricing and had quotes from 4 different dealers - Indy, Dayton, Superior and Columbia. Columbia stepped up to the plate and made me the deal I wanted.
Anyone know what the major differences, if any, are between the 07 and 08s?
Keep up the good work, everyone!
Candidly - the deals on the TL-S just don't seem all that great. It looks like the cheapest I can find a TL-S for...assuming minimum drive offs - are in the low to mid 500s/month. Once you get to that price point, it would not be THAT much more money to move into a modestly equipped 335. a TL-S will have more bells and whistles than a "base" 335...but for pure driving pleasure, handling, speed - the 335 is hands down a much better car.
to get me interested in a TL-S there needs to be major support - either more incentives or a better MF to get pricing down into the 400s/month. the TLS is nice, but it's NOT the best sports/luxury sedan out there...and when the 335 is sooooooooooooooo good...they need to price it much lower than a 335 to make it attractive.
3.0 Liter V6 Twin-Turbo 300 HP / 300 TQ
The TL has some nice luxury features and performance to go with it.
agreed...BUT....
if you equip a 335i the same way a TL-S comes equipped from the factory your pushing close to 45-50k.
Answer to post above: $1500 incentive still in place.
Was able to get dealership in North Houston to $32,100 drive-out (was after $1500 incentive, includes 6.25% sales tax, license fees - not sure what that works backwards to as a negotiated price, but I think should be between 30,000 and 30,100)
Also leveraged the best available interest rate on other online lenders (found 6.25% at e-loan) and got the dealership to match the rate (only 1.25% above the promotional rate!)
I just got a New White Acura TL 2007 in Northern NJ with Navigation for $31,900 plus tax. I think thats a fair price.
I financed it at 6.99 for 4 yrs.
Is this a good deal?
out of curiosity - what is the real perforamnce difference betweent he auto and manual? my test drive made me think it was enough...as I felt the stick was faster, albeit with more torque steer...
anyone get numbers on an 08 vs 07 to see what is cheaper to lease?
i had test driven a mazda after the Acura and it was like stepping intoa tin can piece of junk. no comparison.
the TL-S is a very well done car. ij ust wish it had the SH-AWD system.... i have that on my MDX and it is truly amazing.
Has anyone gotten a better deal? I saw that someone had purchased one for $31,900? Can that be right?
I called 5 dealers first to get a deal on TL with Nav and got a deal for 32,850 which I think was pretty good because 4 dealers refused to match this and one dealer offered 33K
but when I got there and drove S-type, it seems that it was worth 2K since I am planning to keep it for 4-5 years for sure if not longer.
what do you think about TL-S deal?
but July 31st was the day to buy 2007 TL (at least until the end of August)
-last day of the month
-last day of the incentive (at least for July, and dealers didn't know what they would get in August
-and some dealers already had 2008
so they were dealing...although they were more agressive on TLs not on S-type
What's the best price OTD for the TL Nav (2007) anyone's seen on this board?
Thanks
Acura Land because you are buying cars at invoice or under invoice or just slightly over invoice etc etc etc.
Well, let me let you in on the best kept secret in the Auto industry.
Several years ago the people at Honda decided that the best way to sell cars was to allow people to convince themselves that they were getting the deal of a lifetime. And the best way to do that was to publish an "invoice price" at which they could sell the car and make a great deal of money.
The MSRP and invoice prices you see posted on Edmunds and other sites have no real relationship to what the dealers pay for cars. There are so many rebates, holdbacks and discounted dollars it would make you dizzy. Not to mention the real value of a sale at future and assumed rates.
The net cost to a dealer of a TL that lists for $34,995.
is about $26,500. And you think you are getting a deal because you paid $31,000?
Who was the last Honda or Acura dealer to quit the business because they weren't making enough money?
Just another reason why they are kicking [non-permissible content removed] in Detroit.
because I can make a much better story
Anything you like about your TL, Herb?
'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)
Have you changed your tune? See post 7260.
$32,200 plus tax and tags. Included trunk tray, all season mats, and wheel locks.
I know that dealers pay less than invoice, otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell them for less. Personally, I don't mind if they make a few bucks.
($32750 +TTL + proc fee). I could have got a better price I think but there was only one with the exact color combo I wanted and I may have sounded desparate!!
You guys can get better I think...
Is this a good deal?
12M, 36 months...
I started looking for a 2007 TL, however, the color selection was limited.
I am planning to buy a acura TL .I want to know from where did u get this price of 26500 for acura TL.
Thanks
Andy
Did you find out about this? I will buy the day they offer this again.
Anyone have a clue when this will come around?
MC
I just did and it came in at over $31,000. You are talking ConsumerReports.org correct? Show me the dealer that will sell a base TL for 26,500 or even 28,500 and I will buy in the morning. I think you have your facts wrong.
MC
I'd peruse the recent posts here to get a feeling for true (and that's assuming posts here are honest!) costs. Just for example, I bought my '05 TL the week after Xmas '04 at what I believed to be invoice at the time (~$30,350), there were no rebates to customer/dealer that I was aware of and I financed through AHCFC for 48 months @ 2.9%.
Where did the dealer make $ on this deal? Holdback, finance participation and, most likely, on my trade. Big volume Boston dealer...
Good luck, Andy. There are always good deals on TLs!
