I hope you are still monitoring this board because I am curious about the $500 off the original OTD price that you got from your dealer. Is this a manufacturer/bank to dealer incentive? I can't find any information on it online.
I am in the final stage of negotiating with dealers for a 07 TL with Nav, Black/Taupe. It would be nice to bring down the OTD price $500.
Anyone knows anything about this?
Thanks! :confuse:
I spoke to three dealers, each one eventually admitted they had a 500 dollar off incentive if I took financing through Honda Motor Company. Tustin Acura first said they didn't have that offer, they only admitted later that they did after I told them Alhambra Acura is offering a lower quote. When I told Tustin the price I was being offered from Alhambra Acura (did not mention the 500 incentive for taking the loan through Honda), Tustin replied with a statement saying they could match that price only if I financed my car through Honda Motor Company. I was a bit upset at Tustin because the first time I spoke to them I point blank asked them if they had the offer and they said no, only after I was offered a lower quote did they come out and tell me they did. Of course that was enough for me not to buy my car through Tustin.
As for the lemon thing. Not sure if it is legal to sell a car that is known to be a lemon without mentioning it to the buyer. Also if that is true, each one of those three dealers must have lemons in the color I was looking for sitting on their lots. Not very likely. I was about to settle for the 36,650 price with Tustin but ended up getting my car for 36,120.
Lastly, like you, I had no idea in regards to this 500 dollar incentive for financing through Honda. I could not find anything online documenting this other than the information I read on this site. However it turned out to be true. Give it a try, the worst you could do is save 500 dollars. Are you working with So.Cal dealerships? This may only be a so.Cal offer. What's the price you have been quoted if you don't mind me asking.
Seems a far cry from the $35,000 paid by p3bPilot a few posts up.
What do you think?
Also, when you see out the door prices on this forum, keep in mind that not everyone pays the same taxes, so some of the deals that seem too good to be true, probably are in your area. (e.g. We have 7% taxes in our county and 2 miles from my house they're 6%, and a few miles further they're even lower or higher)
Ultimately it came down to the 328, the G35 and the TL Type-S. The G35 was nice, but the gas mileage was terrible, the back seat was as small as my A4 (too small), and the navigation is crippled while driving. The TL offered virtually identical power (though I wish it was AWD/RWD) and a much larger back seat and better gas mileage. The 328 broke the $40k line before I even had navigation added, so that was out.
Even though the TL Type-S is an outgoing model after next year, there's something to be said for getting a car with every option available. It makes it easier to live with down the road knowing you didn't leave anything on the table to regret not adding to the car.
My 2 cents.
I am currently working with the internet manager and have been told that he will present his best OTD offer this morning. The 2006 TL/Navi is listed on the dealer website with mileage at 8,000 and a price of $31,988.
It appears that this dealership thinks this vehicle is worth what people were paying a year ago brand new. I would appreciate any advice as to what target price I should shoot for.
Thanks in advance for any advice that you can provide.
I can't tell you what a good price is for a used 2006, but I paid $33700 for a new 2007 TL/Navi and you will find others on this board who paid even less and got spalsh guards, trunk trays, etc. thrown in. So I, personally, would not pay $32k for a used 06. You should be able to do much better, IMHO.
The price I listed in post #8033 was the price I got OTD with the incentive financing. Just add 500 dollars to the OTD price for the non-incentive financing price.

TL-S Bronze pearl, Taupe interior
34,637 (includes destination fees) + tax. the only car that this dealer has with my color preference has some plated wheels, so thats an additional 1500. Is this a good deal?
(I also have the Taupe interior, much nicer than the black/silver split in my opinion, though I'm sure it will be fun to keep clean)

And yeah, this dealer has cars that were delivered just yesterday, so I don't even have to go for the last one in the inventory. So no wheel issues
Thanks in advance for your help!
Anyone with recent price info for TLS w/ AT and all season tires in west suburbs of chicago or nearby? Could be convinced to go with summer hpt w/ expectation of blizzaks or similar - any opinions on this [opinions on this forum?
Any idea if current financing deal expiring 7/2 will be extended?
Thnx in advance
When they run your credit at the dealership they can usually tell you immediately if you qualify.
I'm not sure what city/state you are in but I got the 2007 TL with Navi quoted at 33,302.00 (this price includes destination). I was able to lower it by another 500 dollars by financing through Honda Motor Company. IMO the price you have been quoted is quite high. I bought my car in Southern California (Orange County).
Total after adding back in my inequity was 42K. My payments are 628 + tax each month.
I just bought a base model TL, no navi, Blue with taupe, this saturday from Woodfield Acura. I paid an OTD price of $33,408 with the 1.9% financing. Everything was done over the internet. I got e-mailed prices from 5 dealerships and Woodfield was the lowest. They've got an internet manager and I found him to be very fair and straightforward. If you're in DuPage county, your tax rate may be lower. Good Luck.
Had the TL for three days, everything is perfect except one small thing. I noted there is a small noise coming out of the central console area which is annoying. Buyers please pay attention.
Thanks.
I actually live in San Diego County about 50 miles away from this dealer, but they offered the best price and were most willing to provide concrete price information via e-mail. The best price I could get in San Diego was $33800 + TTL, even after asking local dealers to match the price above. Local dealer even told me that they couldn't match the pricing in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Good luck to other purchasers.
Talked price, the salesman shows me the TMV price from the Edmunds site. I tell him you know where I want to be, he says let's split the difference. The difference would be around $36.1k, he would probably go to $36k, think I can get him to invoice?
I'm paying invoice -$500 for using the 3.9% financing. If I wasn't using financing, it would be straight invoice. The car had only 1 mile on it, brand new. BTW I went with Carbon Bronze Pearl. The red looks good with the Type S rims also.
Montclair Acura says they can get me the car for $36,388.
Red is nice, but I don't want to stand out too much.
