I got the kinetic blue with the ebony/silver combination. I get tons of complements on the color all the time. I didn't get any of the warranties as I do not keep my cars past 5 years. You got a great price, I paid $35638 or so which includes destination.
  • redsoxrickredsoxrick Member Posts: 2
Sorry for the delay with the reply. The 28,900 is just the price of the car. And the dealer fee was $500. I didn't mention TTL because it varies depending on where you live. There was one more there if you like I could call and see if it's still available. It might be worth the price of a plane ticket to come get it. According to consumers report the dealer invoice for a 2007 TL with navi is 34,293, there is a $500 dealer incentive through July 2, and dealer holdback is $1084 bringing the rock bottom price (what the dealer actually paid for the car) to 32,709. Now if you can wait until the 08's start coming in you can get it for less than what the dealer paid. When I first walked in the dealer they wanted 34k for the car, but with some fun negotiating I got them down to 28,900 for the 06 with mt, navi and HPT. Sticker price was $36,140 which included the $615 destination charge.

I just bought a new White TL with Navigation for 32800 in SoCal. Price includes destination, spash guards, and wheel locks. I was at 35,852 OTD after gov. taxes and fees. Went through Internet Department. Acura had a deal that ended Sunday. $500 off if you financed with them.
  • moodybluesmoodyblues Member Posts: 2
Purchased a new Type-S in South Florida yesterday. Included: Locks, mud guards, all weather floor and trunk mats.

Including everything with Florida sales tax OTD 37,600

I really had not point of reference but just through out a number and they reluctantly bit. Good???

Can you tell me what dealer in So Ca? Did you try other dealers?
    thanks

What was sticker price on your SoCal TL?
  • fs28abcdfs28abcd Member Posts: 2
what was the tax and license part of that OTD price
  • elloenelloen Member Posts: 3
I bought it at the Covina dealership. I also negotiated with Weir Canyon, Alhambra, and Cerritos. Alhambra came close. I actually used their quote to get a better price in Covina in person on the day of sale. Weir Canyon and Cerritos wouldn't budge.
  • elloenelloen Member Posts: 3
    Sticker price was 36,795.
  • moodybluesmoodyblues Member Posts: 2
Price with options less tax and tag was $34,650

Where did you buy from. What state and dealer?
  • crimmerscrimmers Member Posts: 3
I live in Orange County, CA, and am interested in buying a TL with NAV at the best price possible. I already test drove the car with a salesman from a dealer around here, but did not receive a price quote. I was wondering: should I contact that same salesman for a price quote, or should I attempt to get quotes over the internet? Is it better to avoid the salesman if possible? Also is there a problem with somehow "undercutting" the salesman by contacting a differnet person at the same dealership?

Also any suggestions for a good price in OC or Southern California generally would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Have a price quote of $35,850 inculdes all fees, out the door....is this a good price? I don't need the car just yet and most likely will not use it for two months when I give up my company car. I have cash to pay for it, but I thought I might take advantage of the 1.9% and get it sooner. Opinions?
  • armanipatrickarmanipatrick Member Posts: 37
What's the sales tax rate in your state? 35850 OTD is a good price, anyways. I rushed to buy my car in April to take advantage of the 1.9% deal but then Acura extended it (bastards =))
So who knows if they will extend it again. But if you really are set on buying this car then you don't want to miss the 1.9% deal. You will end up paying only a little over a $1000 in interest over the 3 year life of the loan.
  • mikeh4474mikeh4474 Member Posts: 5
    Sales Tax is 6.5%

I'm interested in buying an 07 TL Type S with a 6-speed manual transmission. I live in San Diego, but am willing to go to LA for the best price. Can anybody please share recent experiences and prices paid for a similar car?

I'd be interested in knowing the good, bad and ugly dealers and specific experiences.

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

This forum is great, I have gained lots of knowledge by reading through this site. I just have a simple yes/no question. Well I guess if you answer no it would be appreciated if you provide a number as to how much more of a discount I should ask for. Ok here goes:

Is 36665 OTD for 2007 TL with navigation a good price? This cost includes all fees (Tax, doc fee, License, tire fee) as well as wheel locks, all season floor mats, and splash guards. This is assuming the car is paid with cash, which I am somewhat leaning towards as of right now. Thanks in advance for your input.
  • ausdtechausdtech Member Posts: 37
No-one can really answer that without knowing exactly what the tax rate, license fees etc in your area are.

Whats the negotiated price before TTL+other fees? That's what people can actually evaluate.
  • qubic27qubic27 Member Posts: 9
    Hi guys/girls,

Here is the breakdown of my 36665 OTD price:

    Base Cost + Destination: 33307
Wheel Locks, All season floor mats, splash guards: 393
    Doc Fee: 55
    DMV Fee: 284
    Tire Fee: 8.75
    State Tax(Orange County, CA, 7.75%): 2616

    Good, bad, or .... ugly?

    Thanks
  • new2carsnew2cars Member Posts: 71
    Hi qubic27,

That's a great price, especially since they included the all season floor mats! What dealership in OC? I bought mine in OC in March.
  • ausdtechausdtech Member Posts: 37
Looks like a good deal, you might be able to negotiate a few hundred more off the base cost but its close enough to invoice to probably not be worth a lot more struggle.
  • qubic27qubic27 Member Posts: 9
    Hi Ausdtech/new2cars,

Thanks for your input. I thought the price was pretty good but agree with Ausdtech and thought I could do a couple hundred dollars better. I'm not much of a negotiator, so what I'm going to do is tell the dealer to throw in the truck tray (104$) and I will come down and pick up the car for the quoted OTD price. Hopefully they'll go for it. Knowing me though I'll probably get talked into paying 208 dollars for the trunk tray.

    new2cars - I'm working with Tustin Acura

    Thanks again for your input.
  • cpa3cpa3 Member Posts: 89
qubic27 thats a great price. They sold you that car for exactly $500 below dealer costs..Which dealer in OC did you buy from? Tustin, Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, Weir, ??? Did you try other dealers..??
  • da763da763 Member Posts: 14
I was just offered $189 over invoice for a new 07 TL Type S with 6 speed manual + HPT option. Any opinions as to whether this is a good price, or can I do better?

    Thanks
  • landzglandzg Member Posts: 6
I was offered $35000 (including destination already) + processing and tax for a 07 TL Type S with Auto Transmission. That is about $600 down from the invoice.

Based on that, I think you may be able to knock a few hundreds off your offer.

By the way I am in Fairfax, VA.

Post your final deal please. Good luck!
  • p3bpilotp3bpilot Member Posts: 16
Landzg....I am in Arlington, VA and interested in purchasing a new TL...probably the base version with navagation. Have you found a good deal?
  • landzglandzg Member Posts: 6
I havn't struck the deal yet but probably will get it done over the weekend.

    Will keep you posted.

    Great...thanks.
  • achadha1achadha1 Member Posts: 65
Just email the dealers in your area as I did and buy from the one that offers the best price or if you want to buy from a dealer near you take other dealer offers and see if they match. I purchased from Pohanka and got the TL Type S for 200 under invoice. The TL with nav should be had for a minimum of 500 under invoice a friend of mine purchased one the same day I did..good luck..

    CPA3,

I work mainly with Tustin, however I did receive internet quotes from Weir, Covina, and Riverside. I haven't purchased from Tustin yet but will probably make my attempt to purchase tomorrow. I can't believe it but I'm having a hard time with the TL color choices, not one really stands out to me.

Hey guys...I bought my TL type S 6 speed manual including wheel locks, trunk tray and painted mud guards, and including destination for $35,100. This doesn't include Tax, title and license. This was also back in March when dealers had plenty of TL type S stock in auto and only a hand full of 6 speed manuals.
I would highly recommend South Bay Fleet Manager in Torrance. He was very proffesional and his price quote was the 2nd lowest. No other dealer in Orange County came close. I went with him because he was the only dealer that had the car I wanted, Kinetic Blue/ Silver Ebony. If you want to, look at my previous post # 7737 for more details.

    Happy shopping.

If you feel like spending more time on this go back to Covina and try again. See post #7989. That person got theirs from Covina for $32800 with Navi including destination, plus tax and license. Also I suggest you contact the internet department at Harbor Acura in Costa Mesa. The guy you want to talk with his name starts with an R. My daughter leased a TSX back in January and I found they had the best prices because I did all the shopping around for it. I will be getting a TL probably within the next three months as soon as my other car gets paid off. Be sure to keep us posted as what you end up with and where. Also my favorite color is white with black interior...

I just got 07 TL type S about a month ago. I tend to keep my cars for over 10 years. But a friend tells me it is best to trade in after 3 to 5 years while car's value is relatively high and still in very good shape. Also, 10+ years is a long time to miss on all those new features of cars. What do you think about this?
  • qubic27qubic27 Member Posts: 9
    Hi CPA3,

Thanks for the tips. I previously read the post from the person who purchased through Covina Acura. It seems the price they were quote included the $500 price reduction special the dealership was having that weekend if you financed through the dealership. If you add 500 to the cost of their quoted price it was roughly the same price I am being quoted from Tustin Acura. When you are ready to buy you may want to inquire if they have that deal going again because $500 is a decent chunk of change to save. As for selecting the color of my TL, I never thought I would have so much trouble with this part. I narrowed it down to white and silver. By default I should select white since the car I've been driving is already silver. I stayed away from black (and carbon gray) due to the constant maintenance required to keep it clean, but then again I still think those colors look nice. I'll post the exact figures once I close the deal. Thanks again to everyone that replied.

Also, just a word of warning, when you select your options (floor mats, splash guards, wheel locks, etc) verify the cost the dealership is quoting you based on the MSRP price listed on the Acura website. I noticed Tustin is quoting a higher price for most of the options and nearly double for the wheel locks, I'm going to call them on this and try to get a free trunk tray thrown in on my deal. hehehehe.

Hi, just want to share this with everyone following the thread.

I just closed the deal last night with 34,800+Processing+Tax, with a 1.9% 36-month finance. On top of that, I got the accessories free including floor mats, splash guards, wheel locks and trunk tray. So use this as a good reference and beat the dealer down.

    Happy Bargin ...

Whats processing? Looks like a good deal for an TLS congratulations. What color did you get?
  • p3bpilotp3bpilot Member Posts: 16
    Landzg:

Looks like a great deal. I was at the dealership today and took one for a test drive...love it. Did you get the S type with or without navigation. Just trying to compare prices correctly. Thanks much for the help.
  • p3bpilotp3bpilot Member Posts: 16
Ok...my bad. Nav standard on the S series. Only difference is the tires. What was the invoice amount on your TL and how much did they charge you for processing?

    Thanks again.
  • landzglandzg Member Posts: 6
Guys, I got the carbon bronze color and paid $299 processing fee, plus another ~$60 tag and online credit checking fee.

Dealer was becoming ridiculously penny-wise at the end. Every calculation were bended toward their benefits, even for a few dollars so make sure to double check their numbers. I probably could save another $100 or so but decided to let them win some since it is a good deal already.

Took delivery of a White/Taupe TL yesterday. Here is the info for those of you still shopping..

    36 months
    12000 miles
    31512 purchase price
1400 out of pocket, includes first pmt, fees, yadda, yadda
409.88 per month includes tax (6% FL)

(I know most knowledgeable people say not to put any money down, but somehow paying interest on fees just doesn't compute in my brain...from my calcs they made a small amount of profit in the fees part, under 200.00)

Dealer was Delray Acura, Delray Beach, Florida. Was very happy with the whole transaction, dealt with the internet manager, he put ALL his quotes in writing via email. No pressure what so ever and I didn't really have to beat them down. Finance offered the usual extended warranties etc.. no pressure there either. I would recommend an internet purchase through this dealer. Car was ready when promised and the salesman gave me a good rundown of the car.

BTW - bought a Sanyo Katana (Sprint) this morning and paired it today and it works great...MID and radio window shows signal, battery, dialed/incoming number.

I am posting here since there is more traffic. I'm coming up on my TL's 3 month anniversary and my XM subscription will need to be renewed. Are there any special promos on the XM prices? I want to continue the nav traffic too. So far, the only price I have is $190.33 for 1 year of XM radio and Nav Traffic. Happy driving!
  • ausdtechausdtech Member Posts: 37
Give this a shot, most people have reported success as long as you follow the script.

Did you deal with Radley? It looks as though your final base price including destination was $838 below invoice. Radley tells me their processing fee is $249. I am not sure which dealership gave you the deal..but I want one also. Thanks
  • p3bpilotp3bpilot Member Posts: 16
First... call and make sure they are not going to auto renew you and charge your credit card. Have your radio code and call the customer service number. Tell them you want to let it expire because it's too expensive at full rates.

Then, they might offer you the $77 deal. If so, skip the rest of these steps and take it. If not, hang up after making sure it will not auto renew.

After it cancels, then call in with the script about having gotten a flyer. See the big yellow scan of the previous flyer posted previously HERE .

    SCRIPT FOLLOWS:

Then call the 800-682-4114 number and read the script: "Hello. My subscription to XM Radio has expired but I just got a flyer with a special offer. I would like to take advantage of this offer for $77 for a year.

The old promotion code, "zwinback", according to recent posters who secured the deal, is no longer needed. If they ask for the radio code, give that to them. They WILL ask for it because that's the only way they can turn it on. If you had, in fact, gotten a flyer, it would have your radio code printed on it so have it handy. You can always get your radio code by tuning your XM radio to channel 0.

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Most people get it on the first try but others required 2 or 3 calls to different Customer Service reps.

Yes, you CAN get it over and over again. Many of us are on our third year at $77. But NOTE: This is not a front door, well known promotion. It is a quiet deal to get old customers back who have canceled. If you jump on the phone and say that you heard about this deal on the Internet/Acurazine, you might just kill the Golden Goose. Be considerate of those coming behind you.

Lastly: as you will read, the SCRIPT works. If you don't follow it, you're on your own. Take the time to read the instructions for best results.

    Hi All,

First off I'd like to say thanks to ausdtech, new2cars, and CPA3 for replying to my posts and offering me their opinions. As promised I have come back to post my final number for the OTD price of my car.

    2007 TL w/ Nav
    White/Taupe
Options: Wheel Locks, All Season Mats, Trunk Tray, painted splash guards
Fees: Tax (%7.75), Title, License, Doc, tire, etc.

    OTD Price: 36,120

    * Make sure you ask the dealer for 500 dollars off their original OTD price if you finance through Honda motors, that was the only way I could get the OTD price posted above. In my opinion even without the additional 500 dollars off this is a great loan offer. I had the money to pay the car off in cash but realized the % return I received through my bank was more than double the interest rate of the loan. Tustin Acura originally told me they didn't have that offer, but when I received an offer from another dealership Tustin said they did have that offer.

I also got the extended warranty for 1301 (7 year/100,000). I was originally quoted 1563. This included both the extended warranty and the "tires for life" offer. In my opinion the tires for life deal is a bit of a ripoff. You must have your car serviced at only that Acura dealership every time (which can get quite costly) and the tires will only be replaced if they are worn due to natural wear and tear. If you run over a nail or hit a curb and blow your tire that is not covered under the warranty.

Good luck in your car shopping! By the way, I did all my negotiation through the internet.
  • k_dunkk_dunk Member Posts: 5
I would lean closer to the 3 year mark. Look at it in terms of what you would want if you were a buyer of that vehicle. If you were shopping for a pre-owned Acura now would you rather be looking at a 2004 with 35 K miles or a 2002 with 60K. Plus a dealer would rather have that 04 because they can certify it and still offer an attractive warranty benefit to the customer from the certification.
  • k_dunkk_dunk Member Posts: 5
Good job. That is an incredible price. I can understand why your dealer had to start watching the last few few pennies.
  • k_dunkk_dunk Member Posts: 5
Thanks for the info on the phone. I had been considering upgrading. The Acura website was still testing this phone the last time I checked it.
  • p3bpilotp3bpilot Member Posts: 16
    Took Deliver TODAY:

Acura TL Sport: $34800 Silver w/black interior
    Processing: $245
Plus 3% VA tax and registration

Got wheel locks, all weather mats, splash guards, and trunk tray at no charge.

I was out the door at $36,234.00

    I think I got a good deal...lets hope so.
