Thanks for the update...I'm probably going to pull the trigger tomorrow...one quick question - Do Acura dealers accept cash downpayments via American Express (or, if not, mastercard?) I'm going to go with their 3.9% financing but put down about $10,000 or so in cash.
Glad I found this forum...I'll post details of the deal once its done.
  • ausdtechausdtech Member Posts: 37
Most dealers won't let you put more than $5k down with credit. Likely they will take either amex or MC though.

Nice deal! $33,450 including destination? or the destination fees on top?

I'm looking for 07 TL with navi. Got quote from DCH Montclair Acura NJ internet price $33,880.

Try selling your car on the craigslist. I sold my 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe 5-Speed within five days at price that I was very comfortable with in Los Angeles, California.

I also paid $29 to advertise at Cars.com, which wasn't necessary. I've gotten just one inqueries through Cars.com while I had multiple inqueries through craigslist.

    fretus30,
I got that quote from some Acura dealers (including DCH) about a month and half ago. You can probably do better than that at this point. When I went to DCH in person they went down another $500 but they were trying to push a color I didn't want. They agreed to my 1st color choice but at that point I was done with them. So I went with Ramsey Acura. I liked their attitude and service better.
Anyways, $33800 is not shabby but I think you should be able to do better.

I stopped by montclair tonight, as they have the color and model I want. They wouldnt' touch the internet pricing I've been getting though, around 38,100 OTD for a Type S. They also wouldn't quote me THEIR price, saying that it wouldn' tmatter as I need to go to the other "highway" dealerships to see for myself that they won't really follow through with that price. Well, that certainly turned me off to that dealership...hopefully I'll have more luck tomorow elsewhere...

Thanks all of you for the info in this forum, it was very useful in my purchase. Here's mine.

I had a very good experience with the folks at Peabody Acura (north of Boston). I was in the market for a prius or camry, and was subject to all the atrocious textbook hard ball moves curtesy of Atlantic Toyota ("so you are really not the decision maker", "I thought you were ready to buy" and all the rest of it). The Acura salespeople were nothing but professional, sure they need to make a buck and tried a couple but very low key which I highly appreciated.

Internet quote was 32600. I ended with 31800 after I mentioned the 500 incentive. Make sure you do that, and get the special 1.9/3.9 financing. If you don't mention 500 they wont factor them in price. Nothing but curteous, professional, low key, and straight up. Same experience on the finance side, the finance guy mentioned the extended guarantee, etc, etc but it was in no way a hard sell. I didn't get the guarantee I don't think 1500 for years 5,6,7 is worth it. The problems come in after year 7. Anyhow, the point is I felt well informed and that was that.

If you're reading this thinking should I buy this car, don't even think about it for a second. It's an absolutely terrific car, loaded with technology, at at bargain price compared with the euro cars which are way overrated. Good luck.

We bought our car April 30, 36488 out the door. 33656 was base which also included locking lug nuts but no mats. Great buying experience with Pauly Acura, worked with Bob Erlien.

We love our car, and thanks again to everyone here that posted info. We put 5k down, half of which on a credit card, although probably could have pushed for more. Did the 3.9% five year deal, couldn't pass that rate up.

i bought a new tl 2007 wit navi from springfield acura about 20 days ago and they have yet to give me my license plates. they called me and said to come in for another 10 day permit. i have no idea why it would take so long. I live in NY and i bought it in NJ. Does anyone know why it is taking so long to get my plates?

Anyone in the washington dc area get any good pricing on the 6speed TL-S. So far the first quote from Pohanka I got is 36999 which includes destination.
  • redsoxrickredsoxrick Member Posts: 2
Just bought a new 06 with Navi and 6mt for 28,900 + 499 dealer fee. I was going to buy a used one but this deal was too good to pass up. I love this car. I was going to see what the 08 accord sedans looked like, but after seeing the spy photos am glad I found this deal on the TL. I couldn't get the 3.9 for 60 months because it was an 06, but I did get them to lower the rate from 6.8 to 5.7 if I bought the 10 yr 100k warrany for $1250. They would only lower the rate if I bought the EW.
  • ducatiguyducatiguy Member Posts: 11
Nice work, on the price and the car. I looked for a 2006 hold-over 6mt last month, here in the midwest, but didn't have the good luck you did...

Test drove a TL with Nav this weekend. Exceeded my expectations. Need your guidance on the rock bottom price I should aspire for at a DC-area Acura dealer. Specific numbers from Pohanka Acura Chantilly would be super. Greatly appreciate it if you can mention your numbers as either drive out (incl TTL Destination) or base (not incl tax, title, license, destination etc). I would like to get 34.5K drive-out. Feasible? Many thanks in advance for your assistance!
  • palaltpalalt Member Posts: 25
I was just quoted 31718 on an 07 TL, Non Nav. Invoice was 31518. Can you expand on the $500 you are mentioning? Is this some kind of Mfg to Dealer rebate? I can't find any reference to any rebates. I'd like to knock this dealer down another $500 if possible, and negotiate the $345 he wants for the Protection Package (mats and locks). Can't decide between Carbon Bronze/Taupe or Pearl White/Taupe. Reading folks comments in this forum, sounds like there is quite a bit of discount available in the Nav Package. Prices of low 33's sounds like folks are paying only $1500 or so more for a Nav Pkg that retails for like $2600. I can't pass this up if AHFC is giving me 1.9% money for 3 years. I'm getting 5.05% on my High Yield Money Market so why withdraw the money!

One thing I thought strange when viewing cars in stock. I'm seeing various tire sizes on new 07's. Some have 235/45's and some have 215/50's, either Bridgestones or Michelins. Has anyone learned why the difference?
  • njericnjeric Member Posts: 6
The non-navi comes with the Bridgestones and the navi comes with the Michelins... or maybe vice versa. I forget.
  • grumblesdclowngrumblesdclown Member Posts: 20
The size should be 235/45 regardless. Here's a clip from the TL spec page of Acura.com:

    P235/45 R17 93W All-Season  | BASE | TYPE–S
    P235/45 R17 94W Bridgestone® Potenza RE 960A High-Performance (summer) tire (available option)  | TYPE–S
  • palaltpalalt Member Posts: 25
I was able to determine the fact that TL's w/Nav had Michelins and Non Nav cars had Bridgestones. This dealer did have a few odd TL's that had the 215/50 size though, and that tire size was listed on the window sticker. I too saw the brochure that only listed 235/45 as the available tire size. The dealer had no explanation for it. I guess all I can do is ensure the one I pick out has the 235/45s installed. I'm going to attempt to have the dealer switch Michelins to the Non Nav car I want.

Does anyone have any further info on the $500 rebate that was mentioned earlier on this thread.
  • mariusandmariusand Member Posts: 2
$500 rebate, it's factory-to-dealer, and it's listed right on edmunds.... see incentives. You have to get the financing, which is a no-brainer at 1.9%.

I bought my TL type S a short while ago (less than a month). It was the only TL-S with the exterior/interior color combo that I liked in the lot. The only thing was that it had a little over 100 miles on the odometer. Sales person said that they work with other dealers in the area and it might have been brought from another dealership. So, anyway, I went ahead and bought it. It has been running beautifully; no complaints whatsoever. But I was reading about "breaking in" period and now wonder how those first 100 miles were spent. What do you guys think? Am I worrying too much?
    Thanks,
  • scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
I personally wouldn't accept a new car with more than 10-15 miles on it, unless the price reflects some sort of discount.

The "most likely" comment is the only thing that disturbs me.

What do you mean "most likely".... tell me exactly where those miles came from.

That being said, those 100 miles are most likely no harder than the first few the factory puts on during testing.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
    Just enjoy your car. :)

Same dilemma. I'm considering the Type-S with MT, Montclair Acura e-mailed me advising that they could help search for one, however, I have not even test driven the car yet.

i was thinking about getting a TSX or a TL but i dont want a 350.00 car payment right now. i have around 8K-9.5K in cash. i live in SC. IS there a price difference in price you will be paying if you lease and the buyout after versus buying the car with loan. i was going to put around 8-9K down on the car whether it be a lease or new.
    please let me know thanks

There is a $500 to dealer Acura incentive on the TLs if you buy and finance through HFC. I don't know whether that also applies to the lease (or has been embedded in their published lease rate). For me, I don't like to give-up cash, in either a purchase or lease arrangement - and especially in a lease arrangement. My personal upfront cash maximum is $2000. I suppose if you need to pay more to qualify, I could understand paying more. Again though, for me, cash is dear, and I hold it close.

If I were you, I'd check elsewhere than Montclair. I just bought my TL-S - ended up going with an auto, however, for practicality reasons. I took my "internet price" from Ocean and Springfield and Montclair told me that candidly couldn't touch it, and that those "highway dealers" wouldn't either. Well, the next day, the "highway" dealership in Ocean, NJ sure did touch it and gave me a great deal. I'd recommend asking for Bob Woodworth at Ocean, NJ - tell him the guy that just bought the TL Type S in black on black sent 'ya.
He was a fantastic salesperson to deal with who didn't pull any crap on me.

dcyoda, I got $35k OTD from Radley. That came with wheel locks, all season mats, splash guards and free oil change/car wash for life. I think $34500 might be a little low. I bought last day of april and had 2 dealers fighing over my business. I know I got the absolute best pricing possible. Radley and Gaithersburg Acura (forget the name) were the only ones willing to deal. Pohanka wasnt even in the ballpark.

Actually, my OTD price was around $34500 because they gave me an extra $500 for my trade. But both dealers were unwilling to go any lower on price of the car itself. Having the trade in def worked to my advantage.

Just purchased a 2007 TL S type with the H/P tires for $37,000. This included the destination charge, but not the dealer fee and taxes/tags. It is fully loaded with all options, and I went with the 36 month 1.9% financing.

This was a dealer in Florida, and the experience was very good. Most of the time was spent filling out paperwork.

Does anyone have experience with a recent purchase of an Acura 07 TL with Navigation? On the last weekend of May of this model year, I am being quoted $34,700 with the "Protection Package" ($348) as the only additional accessory. This includes destination charges. This does not include license, title, etc. Thank you for any advise.
  • basahe1basahe1 Member Posts: 2
I spoke with two dealerships this weekend. The deal is good but is for a non Navi car. 10,000 mile/year limit. Also it does not include TT&L. Actually, the way the dealer explained it Acura is paying the tax and charging the consumer 1.2% on the selling price. At least in my state, that is a significant savings.

Here's deal I've been offered: 2007 TL with Nav and 12,000 mi/yr. I got the dealership to $399/mo with the $1035 down. Total out the door is $2160. Any thoughts on whether this is a good deal?
  • fsudreyerfsudreyer Member Posts: 28
That is an amazing deal. A local dealer has one here and I am debating on asking for the same deal. Are there any more of that exact car and if so what dealership? ;)
  • goblue3goblue3 Member Posts: 1
Just purchased an 07 TL auto,non-navigation. All 4 dealers in the state were within $100 OTD price of one another. Mine was $35,900 with window tinting, body side moulding, door edge guards, wheel locks and trunk tray - in the color my honey wants. Also the selling dealer is closest to my home.

Does anyone have data on prices paid in RI and Southeastern, MA for the Type-S? I am looking at the Automatic for now. I think, at this point, I'm looking at First Acura in Seekonk, MA or Inskip Acura in W. Warwick, RI. I'd appreciate any inputs. Thanks.
  • achadha1achadha1 Member Posts: 65
just purchased a kinetic blue 6 speed TYPE S at Pohanka Acura in Northern VA. I paid invoice for the vehicle total otd price was 37k everything included. This is one amazing car the red dash looks amazing at night. I drove a friends 04 in 6speed back in 2004. This is a big improvement on that car with its new 3.5L engine, tighter more precise handling.

You bought the same exact car I bought a little over 2 months ago on the other coast (CA). Enjoy, just wait until it is broken in and feel the power, it is an awesome all around car.

So, just joining the club to share a success and failure:

    - Success: got a 2007 TL for $31,400, including destination charge (basically they gave me the entire $500 mnft-dealer incentive for doing financing) and threw in splash guards, all-weather mats, wheel locks and $100 gift card for car servicing purposes. (just had to pay taxes and tags in addition)

    - But, I paid $2,700 for the extended warranty (8 yr/120,000). I did not realize that there was an aftermarket for this. I saw a quote for $1,500. So, buyer beware when financing your vehicle.

I haven't taken possession yet, so if anyone has strategies on how to cancel/amend, please let me know, but I think I'm stuck with this.
  • swgordonswgordon Member Posts: 13
Just tell them you dont want the warranty. You have so many days to cancel a sale by law. It's called buyers remorse. I was offered that same extended warranty for $1053. You got totally hosed.
  • mohmoh Member Posts: 3
I don't disagree on the getting hosed part. Do you have more info on buyer's remorse? I'm in Maryland.
  • passontherightpassontheright Member Posts: 2
To my knowledge, there is no right of rescission or "buyer's remorse" on an automobile purchase in any state, unless the sale was consumated at an "off site" auto sale such as a tent sale.

As for the extended warranty, simply cancel it before taking posession of your vehicle. You are entitled to a 100% refund.
  • mohmoh Member Posts: 3
    Saving grace:

So, I complained to the salesperson about the $2700 and how ridiculously overpriced it was, and he ended up talking to financing. Financing then ended up matching the lowest quote that I had received. I ended up getting the 8 year/100k warranty, which cost me $1165.

It seemed that this particular financing dept was using something other than Acura Care. Something like Fidelity, which was way more expensive on the longer-lifed warranties. Pretty inexcusable in my opinion.

But, it all turned out okay. In the end, Acura wants people's business, so these things can often be negotiated if there is a good basis for complaint. They were pretty professional about this.

Good luck to other Acura prospectives. I'm looking forward to enjoying mine!

Your feed back will be of great help as i am a first time buyer !!

The dealers on the west coast you can get a TL w/out Navigation for $31200. They will quote that price without any dealing. I would expect the best deals to be around November time frame. I dont think the 2008 will be out until Dec or so. Anyone have any exact info on that?

I thought I would share the prices I have been quoted for a new 07 TL w/ Nav with rear decklid spoiler, wheel locks, and maybe console wood grain kit (kind leaning away from that now based on feedback from some dealers):

Acura Carland - $33,736.85 (before dest. of $670 and no wood grain); Total Fees ~$500; Drive-out (6% sales tax on total amount less the $21 tag fee) - $37000
Ed Voyles Acura - $33,783.08 (before dest. of $670 w/ wood grain; subtracting wood grain would remove $125); Total Fees ~ $500; Total Drive Out (same tax as above) - $37,049

The other dealers price before destination ranged from $33,858 to $34,483 with fees basically $500 across the board except for one deal which was closer to $400.

Overall I am fairly satisfied as Acura Carland and Ed Voyles basically met my initial offer for all intents and purposes. Could I have done better? Dunno. But since my previous vehicle was totaled, I need to get something by this weekend and I did not have the time to argue over hundreds of dollars. I would have burned that up in extra rental car days!

Overall, I am about 75% solid on getting the TL with a slight chance I could go for a Chevy Avalanche (I know...very different vehicles!). I will plan on putting up any experiences if I do pull the trigger on the TL!

Thanks to the Edmunds site for the insight in this process!
