Ended up getting the TL w/Nav included Pin Stripe, Cargo Mat, Wheel Locks, and Splash Guards $33,100 OTD $36,100. Went with local dealer for $100 more which includes courtesy cars for service. Silver/Ebony, New Tag, Tax 7%, (not 6.5 like I thought) and Title

You got a great deal on that. That's the same price they offered me for a new 2006 TL! What's up with that?
  • gvbgvb Member Posts: 45
I just offered cash $33K OTD for a new 2006 TL manual transmission with Navi, but they turned it down. I figure in 6 months this car is going to be 2 years old. Not to mention that the 2008 models will be out in 3-4 months. The second it drives off the lot, it will be a 2 year old used car. What's a proper price to pay for a car like this?
  • willis3willis3 Member Posts: 76
1.9% Financing went out the door. They now have 2.9% if you have Tier 1 credit, but there is now some dealer cash to play with (up to $1,500) if you pay cash.

I found one dealer that's willing to sell @ invoice, can probably get them to kick in some of their dealer cash as well.
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Where did you get the info that there is up to 1.5k dealer cash to play with, Edmunds? To me, that means you can buy a car for 1.5k below invoice.
  • mkamdarmkamdar Member Posts: 5
Just guessing but I think willis3 may be referring to the $1500 in marketing support available to the dealer from Acura.
  • mkamdarmkamdar Member Posts: 5
Does anybody know how much the dealer holdback is for a 2007 Acura TL? I am planning to purchase a 2007 TL - non naviand was wondering how much below invoice I can make my offer for. I would appreciate the help.
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Thanks for the info. about the marketing support, which I understand may be different among dealers and regions.

I believe the holdback is around 2.5% of MSRP, which is about 700 bucks for the non-navi TL. Don't count on getting any dealers to part with the holdback, because that is like their bottom line to pay for rent, commissions and other overhead expenses. If the car is not selling well, or if it is end of the month or quarter and the dealer needs to meet a quota, then perhaps it MAY consider splitting the holdback with you. Good luck!
  • willis3willis3 Member Posts: 76
Correct, you can find this information on the Edmund's site under incentives.

I have a quote now for a TL-S MT for $34,338, which is $1,073 below invoice.
  • achadha1achadha1 Member Posts: 65
what are you waiting for I have never seen one that low I got mine for 200 under invoice. Does yours include destination?
  • sold2earlysold2early Member Posts: 4
Has anyone received a quote this month for a base model w/o navi? I'm very curious to see how low they'll go with the $1500 support.

If so, please indicate which state the quote came from. I'm in MA.
  • willis3willis3 Member Posts: 76
    Yes, price includes destination.

Just working out some minor details like including some accessories.

But remember, they only offered me the dealer cash when I said I would pay the car off entirely, otherwise they were pushing their 2.9% financing.
  • rfftype2rfftype2 Member Posts: 7
    Talked to a dealer , quoted TL w/o Nai @ $31400 +destnation +TTL.
He said $1500 is only available to lease. Anybody heard similar story?
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
That's not what Edmunds says!!Edmunds says no lease deals ar all. Only incentives and low financing if you BUY!!
  • drivecrazydrivecrazy Member Posts: 2
That's not true. I got quote from the dealer. TL w/o Navi $32147 (include dest) + TTL if take 2.9% 36 mo. $30647 if cash. Cincinnati/Ohio
  • gvbgvb Member Posts: 45
What's the invoice on a new 2006 TL Navi w/manual trans? Dealership says they can't go below $31,800 (before TTL). I would think there has to be add'l incentives on this vehicle that could go lower than that. What do you think it's invoice is and how low could they go to get rid of an '06 model?
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
The invoice should be around 33k. The current incentives are for 07 models, not 06. In the fall of last year, 06 TL with navis were sold at or about 32k. You should not pay 31.8k now for an 06 model, especially a manual, even if it is new (i.e. never registered) because it is a year old. Depending on its condition, you should pay no more than 29k.
  • willis3willis3 Member Posts: 76
The dealership I've been corresponding with would only go as far as taking $1,300 off invoice, meaning they wanted $200 for getting the car from another dealership.

I was just about to close the deal, but before doing so, wanted to make sure the mileage on the car they were transferring was less than 10 miles and that they planned on using a flatbed do transport it. They responded the car they were getting for me has >50 miles on it and they are going to drive it over (in essence charging me $200 for this service of additional wear and tear on the car)

Would anyone else out there be displeased like I am? This car they are transferring is probably the model that has been test driven, probably test beatened.
  • gvbgvb Member Posts: 45
Good advice I think. I offered $33K cash (includes TTL) which brought the base down to approx $30K ($3K for TTL). They said there was no way they could go that far below invoice.

So what's next for this vehicle? I assume it would go off to auction and be sold there. Do you think it would be sold for more than $33K? I wouldn't think so. If it goes to auction, does the factory offer additional rebates to offset the expected lower sales price which makes it preferable to auction it off instead? What can the dealership do to accept $30K + TTL and still have something in it for themselves?

Anybody can share pricing quote from Detroit area dealers for TL? How much above invoice?
I get one with $1300 over invoice.
  • porchieporchie Member Posts: 50
In California they are really dealing on the TLs. I have gotten some great price quotes - all under invoice. Best one's so far:

    Both from same dealer:
Non-navigation TL: If you are going to use the special apr' s offered through AHFC then the price is $ 30,645 (includes destination, mud guards, wheel lock, trunk tray) plus fees (ttl). Subtract $1500 if using your own financing, leasing, or cash.

With Nav, including same as above $32,884 - minus $1500 if you dont use their special financing.

After driving a Type S today, I think that is the direction I am going if I decide on an Acura (still comparing vehicles). Got one price at invoice, and one about $300 under. I asked the same place that I got the GREAT TL pricing above from, but havent heard back from them yet. I expect it to be better than the $300 under invoice price.

Anyone find anything better than these prices? :shades:

I've been in contact with almost all of the Chicago area dealers this past week, dealing exclusively with the internet salesmen. I have received multiple quotes of exactly $1,500 under invoice ($34,138). I'm looking to lease this vehicle (36 months/15k) but with the poor residual (52%) and money factor (.0029) for July, payments are at about $617 including tax. So, obviously only the selling price is something that I can negotiate to improve my payment, is $34,138 about as low as I can expect to get?

The other vehicle I'm looking at is the G35X. For July, the residual (57%) and money factor (.00193) for a 36 months/15k lease is much better and payments are $100 less a month ($517). I prefer the TL's exterior and interior but with the G35X having more power and AWD, I don't think I can stomach paying an extra $100 a month for the Acura.

Looking to buy a Type-s auto.
I see invoice is 34,968. Holdback of 2.5% of retail is 953.
Using 7% New Jersy tax do you think if I could get one for 36,000 TTL?

    porchie...

    what dealer in So Cal???
  • willis3willis3 Member Posts: 76
Settled on a Carbon Bronze TL-S (this color was my second choice, and the car does go better with the wheels).

Manual Transmissions seem to be very difficult to find, this was the last one on the lot. Got them to kick in $1,400 of the Acura marketing money, plus I had a coupon for an additional $250 off that I used after negotiating the deal.

I could have easily gotten them to sell the car for $34,000 flat, but decided to let them keep $100 bucks.

Good luck shopping, and if you're searching for a MT, the picking might become tough.

Got a quote of $26,500 for a certifed 2006 TL non navi with 26000 miles. Is this a good deal? How low can I go on this??
    Appreciate your time... :)
  • scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
    I'd be displeased as well.
I had a similar offer when I went for my G.
They found the exact model I wanted at another dealer, 200 miles away.
They wanted to charge me $250 to drive it and $850 to flatbed it.

I decided to special order straight from the factory and had to suffer the horrible wait.

All because I didn't want some hack driving my new car.
The first miles are critical, and I wouldn't have known what kind of miles they were.

    Members,

How is a quote of $31,900 OTD for a 07 TL without Navigation? Since I am in PA, this is approximately 29950 (base) + 1800 (6% tax) + 150 (tags, documentation, etc).

    Thanks.
  • mf15mf15 Member Posts: 158
aj2020 where are you in PA what dealer, I am in the Philly area and might be looking at a TL. I would assume that you did not take the low interest loan from Acura.
    Thanks Old Mike
  • eagle718eagle718 Member Posts: 13
aj2020 - I am in the South Jersey area and the lowest quote I received so far is $31,100 before TTL. Can you let me know if your quote included the dealer cash back (which is approx $1,500 I believe), and therefore you didn't take the 4.9% financing? Also, can people let me know how my quote compares to others in the area. There are 2 dealers near me and they are both matching the other's offers and going lower, and I'm not quite sure how low they will go. (I liked the rims on the Type S better and they want $1,400 to put them on the base model, but I think I will turn that down and just buy the base. I don't think I can afford the Type S, which I was quoted $35,200. What other quotes are people getting for the Type S?). Thanks people.
  • porchieporchie Member Posts: 50
Power South Bay has hands-down the lowest prices I could find! They are really nice, too :)

Email them through powerdirect.com and do a price request - thats how I got the great prices!
  • porchieporchie Member Posts: 50
OMG, I wish you were in California, I would trade wheels with you. I am buying the Type S and dont like the wheels at all. I like the regular ones much better!
  • eagle718eagle718 Member Posts: 13
Really? Well I am considering the Carbon Bronze color and thought that the Type S wheels went better with that color. Not so much the other colors.
  • da763da763 Member Posts: 14
Since you don't say which transmission it is, I'll assume its an automatic. I don't think this is much of a deal. For comparison purposes, I just picked up an 06 TL, 6spd manual, with navi, A-Spec 18" wheels, lip spoiler, 16,000 miles and a clear bra for $27,900. So, if my assumptions are correct, you have some negotiating to do. Not quite sure what a certified TL brings, but at 26K miles, you still have 24K miles left under basic warranty.

    Good luck
  • aj2020aj2020 Member Posts: 4
    Mike,

Yes I am not taking the low interest loan. I have been talking to dealers in the langhorne to king of prussia area (north of philly). I have not finalized my purchase, but I feel I should be able to get a deal for the OTD price of around 31900-32000.

Here is a Quote I received from a dealer in NJ for a red TL-S.

    Dest. 670
    total 35,295
    tax 2,471
    sub 37,776
    TL 575
    Total $38,341

Just was offered $32.8k on a Base w/navigation from an Orlando, FL area dealer. Before TTL. I think I should take it.
    Am I right?
  • eagle718eagle718 Member Posts: 13
I received a quote (South Jersey) for the TL S for $35,200 (before TTL), so it is comparable. There may be a little room for negoitiating.
  • eagle718eagle718 Member Posts: 13
Seems like a good deal since I was offered $31,100 Base no-navi
  • thrckthrck Member Posts: 4
That sounds like a good deal. Looks like they are giving you the full $1500 mkt support below invoice. I've been getting similiar quotes in the Philly area for TL base and TL NAV, $1500 below invoice. I imagine you should be able to get the same pricing on a S-type.
  • gvbgvb Member Posts: 45
Just received a quote to buy at $34,000 (includes TTL). This car is brand new ('06) model that has never been registered. So the base they're asking for is around $31K. With '08 models on the lot soon if not already, does this sound like a good deal?
  • cpa3cpa3 Member Posts: 89
doesn't sound like a good deal to me...Back in around Nov they were going for about $29-$30K with all the deals being offered..
  • eagle718eagle718 Member Posts: 13
Received a quote of $31,100 before TTL, no navigation, and dealer is willing to give me 7 year 100,000 bumber to bumber warranty at no extra cost. Are most TL's being sold at the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty? Is this a good deal?
  • gvbgvb Member Posts: 45
OK. You say $29-$30K that includes Navigation? Or base model? I just did the True Market Value (TMV) appraisal on Edmunds, and they came up with 32.5K for a used 2006 TL, manual, w/navigation, with less than 1K miles on it. Not sure how much credit to give it, especially if you say this car was selling new for less.
  • primedudeprimedude Member Posts: 8
In the last couple days, I've received quotes for just under $30k for a 2007 TL Base, and just over $32k for a 2007 TL Navi. Both were automatics, though; not sure how much of a difference that makes. Oh, and both are before TTL.
  • aedgeaedge Member Posts: 5
I went to a NJ Acura dealer today fully expecting to buy a TL S Blue based on the Edmunds TMV price of 35,735 (dealer would not go below 36,500) and the Edmunds trade in value of $5,200 for my 2002 Mitsu Diamante (dealer said Galves trade in value is only $3,000). I kind of felt like a dope and they said "we have people come in here all the time with Edmunds and Blue Book numbers for new and used cars and they just aren't realistic." At this net price I cannot afford the car. Are they feeding me a bill of goods? Is the Edmunds TMV accurate? Could the Edmunds trade in value be that far off (BTW, the Kelly Blue Book value for my Mitsu was almost $7,000). Can anyone tell me what prices and values I can count on?
  • aedgeaedge Member Posts: 5
Well, since no one is responding to me I'll just chime in with the latest in my saga! I went online through Edmunds seeking more quotes on a TL-S...I asked 4 more NJ dealers. I got one last night within 10 minutes and it's an astonishing $34,538 or $1,962 less than what the other dealer said was their lowest price! Even worse, I signed up for Galves online and found that my trade in is actually worth $4,500 according to them, not the $3,000 the dealer told me. Looks like the first dealer I tried was really trying to hose me. And, it turns out, Edmunds trade in value of $5,121 was not so far off after all. Thanks Edmunds!

I'm going to the new dealer this evening to try to hammer this out...unless one of the others gets back to me with a better price in the meantime!

One more thing, Edmunds is showing a $1,500 manufacturer give back to the dealer for every TL sold in July but it appears that is only good if the special 4.9% financing is not used. I assume that's what allowed this new dealer the ability to give me a quote below Edmunds invoice price. So I'm searching for the best deal in financing outside Acura as well.
  • cpa3cpa3 Member Posts: 89
    aedge,
save yourself some time and try doing it over the phone with the internet manager. They always seem more interested in giving a better deal when your not there.
  • cpa3cpa3 Member Posts: 89
GVB....look at the prices people are getting for 2007 now. You can see they are dropping. A coworker of mine purchased a 2006 /Nav for $29,000 plus taxes last Nov....They had all sorts of rebates that time last year.
  • eagle718eagle718 Member Posts: 13
Was this with using the dealer cash and no financing? Please specify. Thanks.
