I have loved the Acura's since the Legend and would probably still drive one of those if I found a clean one, and I think I will feel the same about the TL.
If you plan to sell the car after 4 or 5 years, and your current car is a 2003 I would personally wait it out just to see what comes. I plan to keep this car for at least 10 years unless I make enough cash to be able to upgrade and not care.
A negative on the new body when it finally comes out is that the first year of production is never rock solid. The current TL is far overdue and they have perfected it quite nicely after producing it for 5 years. An example of first year negatives is the newly redesigned Honda Accord. If you go over to the accord thread you will see that many say the 4 cylinder is underpowered, and people HATE the v6 efficiency where it drops down cylinders and in certain situations lose the power when you want it most. I shopped the Accord hard and decided I was just not into the overall design, and that the first year of production seemed to already be off to a wacky start.
Just my 2 cents.
Is this the best I can do?
Last Saturday, I tried to make a deal on loaded G35-Sport Premium Nav MSRP is $39,800 invoice $36,000 and my offer is $34,000 with 2.9% for 60 month. The dealer had $500 cash back.
Back to the TL-S, I want one but I interested to offer $32,500 to 33,00 Max and get a special financing rate of 0.9% for 48 months. It seems very close with current cash back, but not combo with special financing rate which is really sad.
What do you think, wait a bit or shop around?
Invoice is $35,117 before destination fee. So figuring 35,850 minus 2500, leaves you around $33,350. You'll scrap for every dollar below invoice, and getting $350 off of that is going to be difficult.
I don't think you'll be able to get a special financing rate along with the incentive. It's more than likely one or the other so you'd have to figure out which one would be better for you. I think the $2500 incentive is pretty good and this could be the best it's gonna get.
I think they will have to stop dropping at some point, but another $500 to $1000 doesn't seem unrealistic. With the Honda's dropping a huge amount over the last few weeks, seems like Acrua is following right behind but the prices are still saying relevant to each other.
If anyone is on the fence I would say, if you can wait, why not because the dealers will ONLY get sweeter. I agree with soonercat that you shouldn't wait all the way till september when you won't get your choice pick of options. On the flip side, the prices will always go lower, and there will always be a better deal tomorrow so if you need a car, just buy and then stop looking at the prices
For anyone trying to decide if this is the right car for them, oh boy, this IS the car for you!!! I took mine on the highway today for the first time (picked up on Monday) and it is am amazing ride. So smooth, sleek, and high end. I feel like a million bucks when I am in this car. The bluetooth is sweet too! I went with the Navi so that is fun, and the reverse camera rocks. This car is definitely a lot of car for the price.
Did anyone notice that the 2008TL printed brochure at the dealer says "Heated outside mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down and integrated directional signals"???
Mine don't tilt down, was this a misprint???
I hope this made some sense...
So are you taking about the tiny switch that you move to the left, center, or right hand side when you are adjusting the rear view mirror positioning? Or is this setting within the computer settings? Please do share. I would have easily gone forever thinking I got stumped on a feature that I hoped to have, but never got.
Anxiously awaiting more info.
When I switch cars with the Evil Wife, she leaves it in the middle. So when I again drive the TL, I initially think it's broken! She still hasn't figured out the memory seats...
'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)
Thank you!
Option 1 was to go for $32,200 with 2.9% APR for 60 mos. Plus doc fee of $275.50, tax of $2,517 (at 7.75%). Out the door it's $34,992.
Option 2 was for $30,200 (by giving me $2,000 cash back), but then to finance it at about 5.5% APR for 60 mos. Plus doc fee of $275.50, tax of $2,362 (at 7.75%). Out the door it's $32, 837.
I plan to put $7,000 down. My monthly payments would be $502 for Option 1 and $493 for Option 2.
The dealer was pushing me to take the $2,000 cash back and said it was a better deal.
However, when I got home and crunched the numbers, Option 1 would be better in the long run as I'll pay $32, 217 over the life of the loan versus $33,385 -- for a difference of $1,168.
So why would the dealer tell me to take Option 2, if Option 1 is actually better for me? Any thoughts?
Also, how do these deals sound? Could I push him for $2,500 cash back.
Anyway, I believe Option 2 is always better for you because (1) the interest rate difference (%5.5 vs. %2.9) isn't enough to overcome the $2000 cash difference, not to mention tax on this $2000 too and (2) you put down $7000 down payment; thus lessen the effect of 2.9% rate advantage. Good luck.

That said, I got internet pricing, and everyone (well almost everyone) would match the best offer I got. I actually walked away from a deal at one dealership because, while I liked the salesman, I found management very unprofessional. Email me at smack518 at yahoo dot com if you want to know where.
I ended up making my deal at Montgomeryville Acura, and had a GREAT experience, very easy, no BS, was in and out in just a couple hours and no hard sell. Ask for Ed Galgon and tell him Siamac Afshar sent you. (I hope this is allowed)
The total cost of the car (including docs, taxes and interest) will be $37,105 for Option 1 and $36,611 for Option 2. Thus, Option 2 is better by $493 over the entire 60 month period.
I'm near Charlotte.
Also, what financing rate can they offer with a $29k price?
Thanks in advance.
At that price you do not get the reduced Acura Financing. No big deal to me since if I decide to buy I will go through my Credit Union.
$29,100 - car
$250 - docs
$2,274.63 - tax (at 7.75% in Cleve, OH)
$25.50 - title and tags
$31,650.13 - out the door
They also threw in rubber floor mats.
I have good credit and they got me 4.99% financing.
The dealer indicated that Acura is pushing them to unload (too early in his opinion) because the 2009s are coming.
How's this deal sound?
Price paid: 33,500 <= dealer would rather gimme more for my trade in than change price, so don't focus on that number
trade-in: -1,500 <= all other dealers would not gimme more than $500-600 for it, edmunds would appraise at no more than $800
total: 32,000
With a fair value for my trade in of ~750, the deal is equivalent to:
Price paid: 32,750
Trade in: -750
This is probably more realistic
special 0.9% financing over 48 months
doc fees: $55
Hope this helps, thank you everybody for sharing your experiences, that helped!

Good luck at getting a dealer to agree to that.............
Thanks!
2008 Acura TSX Navi $26,900
2008 Acura TL $28,900
Above is a price quote in writing I received from a dealer. Problem is, this is a dealer in Texas and I live in Louisiana. Anyone bought a car outside of Louisiana while living in this state? How big of a hassle would it be?
The Edmunds Invoice+Destination is $33,998 for the Base TL with Navi. Minus the $2500 cash incentive and the price is $31498. If we added destination to your quote of $30,399+$715=$31,114. So Yes, it seems like a decent deal to me. If they were giving it to you for $30,399 including destination that would be an excellent deal
EDIT: Go for the TL! I picked mine up last Monday and it is an amazing ride. I was also shopping the G35 and went with the TL.
Thanks
What price are you willing to pay?
Do you have a trade in car?
You dont want to use the 0.9% rate, right?
I am in Houston too , just bought a new TL (navi), I think during discussions I was offered 29K for a base. I could refer you to the sales guy if you re interested in that price
Price proposed is $36,800 OTR, including taxes & title. Dealer (Frankel Acura) is starting with $1,500 under invoice (so he says) at $34,420, then add $1,721 (5% sales tax) + $659 for title / tags, which equals $36,800.
Do you think they'd give me color matched splash guards, all season floor mats, and trunk mat if I asked?
I'm getting my own financing, no trade-in.
Thanks!
There's currently $2500 dealer cash so you should be at least $2,500 below invoice. (Don't know what invoice on a TL-S is) And $659 for title and tags seems like a lot (don't know what the true cost in your area is). In PA I paid under $150 for title/tags/reg.
My gut is that this is NOT a good deal.
