why do you not think they would sell a TL-S for 22-23k?

I know they ask more but I think their asking prices are a JOKE!

I see USED TL-S listings asking for $35k or $36k on a car with 15k miles.... not just delusional private party ads, but dealers. dealers who took them in trade.. i mean a NEW one would sell at 32-33 MAX if you know what you're doing.

trade in on a used TL-S is in the low low 20s. go try to trade in your TL-S and see what they offer you. i promise you it won't be 28k...

kbb.com says trade in for an "excellent" 2007 TL-S with 15k is $22-26k. I've always foudn those figures to be way high...you usually get the BOTTOM on a trade...so a traded in TL-S is gonna net around 22k at best for a trade. maybe 23k...but no dealer is gonna give someone 26k on a trade with 15k when a NEW 08 sells at 32....

with the market going south...some dealer might just unload the car he got at wholesale. i've done it before.

i'm gonna start lowball offerin on used TL-S to see what they say. I bet if you are ON THE LOT and tell them you will BUY IT NOW at $22500.... but not a cent more and then when they try to get you UP to a 28 or 29k and you say "goodbye".... they will either let you walk to say "ok". it all depends on how bad they want to move that car.
\why apy 32 for a new one when i could pay 22 for an almost new one.

I got a quote for a Base TL ( No NAV or Options) for $29,706 + TTL and Options in Dallas, TX.

Is this a good deal? Edmunds.com listed the TVM of this car at 32K.

I am in no hurry to buy one...thought I would start getting some quotes.

    Thanks

So let's say the '09 trickle in at the end of this summer? How much more can the TL depreciate? i'm thinking in the $27-29K range but it could also depend on how well the '09 TL is received. If the 'base '09 TL is not sporty enough, then people might jump on the 3G TL-S b/c a type S model is probably 3-4 years out of the way for the 4G TL. By the end of '08, the 3G TL-S's may drop to $25K? Does anyone know historical data or resale values when a new model is introduced? If you can buy a 3G TL-S for $25K and the '09's are selling for $40K, that is a pretty good deal...

Does anyone know what the true invoice price is for the type S including destination and then subtracting the $2,000 dealer cash. Everything I have seen is that it is 33,832 (33,117 + 715 dest).

I have had 2 different dealers tell me that invoice is $34,132 so I am not sure if this is correct or if it really is 300 over invoice.

    Thanks
  • rekcalsarekcalsa Member Posts: 10
Everywhere I've seen it would be $35,832 (incl. the $715 dest) so with the dealer cash it would be $33,832. And I've talked to a couple people who agreed that this is the invoice price.

... also, are you sure it is a good time to buy TL right now - they had same body style for few years now... When is 09 coming? Did they show it at any car show yet?
  • riorebelriorebel Member Posts: 20
I doubt there will be all this dealer incentive cash for the new models, so that may be a consideration. It was for me.
  • xyz17xyz17 Member Posts: 10
One dealer told me that the new model was expected to come out in September 2009...

The dealer cash is currently set to expire on April 30th...does anyone thing they'll extend it?

My wife and I had the same experience, drove the car, fell in love and then shopped for the best deal. We negociated with numbers from 1 dealer to the next. Finally settled the on 1 dealer and closed the deal for $388./mo. lease with $1,600 out of pocket.
We are waiting for the dealer to get our car in which should be in about 2 weeks.
    Good luck

Hi, anyone knows if the 2.9% financing/60mo is available and if so can it be offered with the $2K?

2 dealers I talked to are claiming that the 2.9% is not available at all at this time.
  • decisions2decisions2 Member Posts: 21
What does the $2K come off of exactly? If a dealer quoted me $30,500K plus dealer doc fee, taxes, and registration, but including the delivery fee for a base TL without Navi, should it be $2K off of this quote? They told me that they already took off that $2K cash incentive from this price. Does this sound right at around $32,500K out the door for a 2008 TL Base Auto TL without Nav?

How much have people been paying for the 2008 TL with and without Navi out the door?
  • masonjkmasonjk Member Posts: 8
I purchased 08' TL w/Nav. for $31,693 including destination and wheel locks. This was done end of last year and I also used 2.9% financing for 36 months. I think it was a good deal at the time, however it appears there are better deals to be had at this time, as well as better financing. I don't think out the door pricing is as helpful since it will vary depending on where purchase occurs obviously.
Good luck! Very happy with the car!!
  • decisions2decisions2 Member Posts: 21
$31,693 plus fees still seems like a great price to me. The lowest quote I received was in the $32,800 rangeincluding destination. This is also the price with the $2000 cash off deal going on. Seems like you scored yours for a great price.
  • xyz17xyz17 Member Posts: 10
Picked up my Base TL yesterday for $32,767 Drive Out...with the following Options

    Rear Wing Spoiler
    Splash Guards
    Body Side Molding
    Wheel Locks
    Trunk Tray
    All Season Floor Mats
    VIN Etching

The Base Price that I got was $29,000 including Destination.

Thanks everyone on this forum...you all have been of great help.
  • smack518smack518 Member Posts: 17
As others have mentioned, OTD pricing is largely irrelevant as taxes and fees vary from state to state, and even municipality to municipality, what should really be compared is sales price of the car (but obviously you need to make sure they're not charging you for rediculous fees, in PA for example I paid under $130 in fees besides tax).

The $2000 is a DEALER cash incentive, its not a cash back kind of thing. The effect is that it lowers the invoice price on the car by $2000, which give the dealer more room to bargain before "losing money". Most dealers will give you ALL of this, and looks like now, some of their holdback (effectively selling the car below the adjusted invoice price).

And to answer your other question, on Dec 29, I paid $31,800 for a 08 TL w/Navi in the philly area.

where did you get the 29000 deal? which state and dealer?

Just bought the TL-S in Kinetic Blue Pearl with the Ebony/Silver interior about a week ago.

Quote: $33,300 (incl. dest. and $2000 cash back)
    NJ Sales Tax: 7%
    MV (License/Title) Fee: $254
    Doc Fee: $199
    NJ Tire Tax: $7.50
Etching: $299 (only did it since it will lower insurance and balance out eventually)
Road Hazard Tire (4yrs/60,000): $549 (afraid of the potholes in NJ)

    OTD: $36,998.86
APR: 6.65% for 60 mo. (wish this could've been lower)

I think I got a decent deal. I probably shouldn't have added the Etching and the Road Hazard for the Tires and Wheels, but I did anyway. And I didn't bother arguing for them to throw in accessories since my dad can get them at a decent enough price. So far I love the car.

do you what dealer it was from...?
  • rekcalsarekcalsa Member Posts: 10
I went to DCH Montclair Acura. I actually got them to match a price quote I got from Springfield Acura. DCH had lower doc and DMV fees so I wanted to save a bit of money.
  • decisions2decisions2 Member Posts: 21
$29000 sounds like a great price compared to my locals. Not one dealer will go under invoice and all are demanding that they won't sell "at" invoice, but will sell for around $300 to $600 over.

You guys all have it easy where they will not only sell at invoice, but also tap into their Hold Back. Guess the $2K savings is as good as it is going to get for me.

Still trying to decide on Navigation, or No Navigation since it comes with a hefty price tag.
  • gs3gs3 Member Posts: 11
you are probably in an area where there is not much competitions.
if you are not willing to shop out of the area and the dealer knows that if they are the only acura dealer within couple hundred miles of your area then they may not be as willing to meet your deal.
in the s.f. bayarea or l.a. area, if the dealer tells me $300.00 to $600.00 above invoice, i say they are smoking crack, we are in a recession, it will benefit you more to go shop around.
    just my 2cents :)

I'd like to thank all those here for the information that lead to me buying my car. I bought a TL Base for $29,275. Includes the following:

    1. Trunk Tray
    2. Wheel Locks
    3. Mud Guards

    DOC Fee: $55 (not bad)

    I financed through a 3rd party and got 4%.

I feel that I got a pretty good deal. Hope this helps others.

What color did you get??? I am trying to decide what color I want.
  • misterfinchmisterfinch Member Posts: 6
I was going back and forth as to what color... but in the end decided on "Carbon Bronze Pearl." I'm really happy with the color. The interior is ebony.
  • decisions2decisions2 Member Posts: 21
Is it worth getting the splash guards if I have to pay for them? I see they are at $138MSRP.

Would be nice if they throw them in for free but if I have to pay for them are they a worthy add, or not to really be bothered if they aren't free?
  • masonjkmasonjk Member Posts: 8
I would push to have them thrown in, but if they won't you can buy them online (eBay) from Acura dealer in Colorado for around $87. You can install yourself.

Hey there sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I wanted to make sure that the deal was real. I am deployed to Iraq, so I bought the TL as a going home present to myself. I sent my father a power of attorney. the final numbers were almost exactly as the dealer promised. acura TL base (no Nav) 28,800 + 499 Doc fee. this includes everything except TTL. the dealer is Son's Acura outside Atlanta. They were very very professional and helpful. I went through the internet sales dept. I highly recommend them. Now I can add driving my car to the list of things I really want to do when I get home. Including having a nice steak, a beer or two, sleeping in a nice bed, and the obvious

Just bought my 08 TL w/Navi Polished Metallic/Ebony for 31,800 including wheel locks, splash, mats and trunk tray.

Did most of the negotiations via email and the dealership experience was ok. Herb Connolly Acura in Framingham, MA.

Traded in my 03 Civic for 9,200.

I think I did ok. Thanks for all the great info on this forum!

I have purchased 3 cars lately - not by choice necessarily. The first car, a Toyota Prius, option 5, for me, as it was somewhat cheap and gets 49+MPG.. sold a Honda Odyssey Van to get this - and I love the car. After hard fought negotiations, I got the car for .85 of the list price, before all fees, tax and license. I have used this as my basis for a Honda FIT (for my son who had his car stolen in LA!!! But we had insurance which covered the loss!!) and the Acura TL for my wife. So, I used this as my reference for the 2008 TL w/Nav. I also added all weather mats and the wood grain interior kit (for free) so the base price offer was $36,940 x .85 = $31,399 before tax's and fees. I traded in a 2000 S80 T6 with 135,000 miles on it, got $3,500 (dealer started at $1,800 - I got up and started to walk out – the $3500 was Edmunds trade-in value – and I know I got ripped off a bit, the some things wrong with the Volvo) then got the $3,500. I really wanted $4,000 but my bottom line price was $3500. $31,399+$3140 (Tax and fees) = $34,539 - trade ($3,500) = $31,039, they did not take that deal so I added $161 to this (to cover their cost for wood trim kit and all weather mats – less than list price) and was out the door for $31,200. Realize the cost of the car was $34,539 really (w/o trade) out the door.

Good luck to you all. Enjoy your purchase.

Bought a TL w/Nav today, central NJ; carbon bronze w/ ebony; to be delivered Monday.
$32K incl destination plus (tax $2,247; doc fees $349 (oh well!); reg/title $354; all season mats $100; misc $13 - total of $35,063. Felt like I did okay. Got financing at 4.9%.

Struggled a bit with color - I like silver but have two silver cars in driveway already - love black but have had it before and am weary of its issues; so am trying a different color than I would usually go for.

Passed on road hazard warranty - any views on whether that's worth getting? Same thing with body side molding - any views on whether it really safeguards against parking lot dings?

One comment on Acura colors... they are all great! The hardest part of the buy, was selecting the color! (for my wife - as it will be her car).

This forum has been really helpful so far. Went to dealer yesterday and was offered 08 Base TL for 30,400 w/ 5.99% financing for 60 months or 32,400 w/ 2.99 for 60. They would not budge on the financing, but would consider invoice - 2000 if I signed deal that day. I said I would sign for 29,500 and told me he would be loosing money on the deal and that no one dips into holdback to sell these. He also said that I was so lucky because the 2.99 financing just came out today! When I mentioned this financing as been around for awhile he totally denied it and said I was lying. So unfortunately I do not have my TL yet; I know you have to play the game, but I hate when dealers lie.

I also referenced this forum and he refused to except ppl buying for these prices - said everyone in the forums lie about getting good deals; ironically he didn't mind using TMV price reference, which also comes from ppl purchasing these cars...he had nothing to say to that. Oh well, on to the next dealer. Is anyone getting invoice -2000 w/ 2.9% financing? I'm located in CT.

I would like to know if anyone has purchased an Acura TL /w Navi in Geogia in the Augusta area. If so how much did they spend. I will be returning from my deployment soon and would like to purchase a new car. I appreciate the help. thank you.l

Actually I don't think he was telling a lie. The low apr is a regional incentive. I live in MA and they did not offer it as an incentive in the NE area until yesterday. Good luck.
  • cj69cj69 Member Posts: 16
Thanks for the input. I think it was available in CT though. I went to dealer in North Haven in January and they were offering the 2.9 financing.
  • decisions2decisions2 Member Posts: 21
In CT this past weekend they gave me the choice between 2.9% OR the $2000 cash off the top. The math proved that the $2K off was a better bet and I went with that. At first I also didn't believe that I had to choose between $2K or the financing, but I contacted 3 or 4 other dealers and they all told me the same story so it sounded legit.

The 2.9 did just start back up on the TL. I think they had it at .9 or something for a bit and had 2.9 on other models, and then it went away, and it came back on Saturday morning. So they are accurate on the 2.9 just starting back up. Again, at least in our region.

I know this is the price forum but was curious to know if any TL owners tried one of those shady looking computer chips from eBay? They are dirt cheap, and about 5 sellers all have some negative feedback, but also lots of positive feedback. Can't see how a simple resistor could give all of these gains.

    Here is a simple one:
    Chip

Here is one that has multiple settings:
    Chip 2

Anyone try one of these on their new TL's? I would be afraid to be the first to try it out, but am curious if any other daring souls have. Looks like a hoax chip to me...

I wrote a post to the TSX form a few years ago when I was buying my wife’s TSX. The title was “Lying, Cheating and Stealing”. Basically, I was purchasing in the DFW area and got several quotes from local dealers. The first gave me a quote but would not honor it when I got there (Lying); the second quoted me a price, but then said the quote did not include destination, or options (Cheating). The third, Vandergriff in Arlington, gave me a great quote, got the car in the color she wanted from Kansas, and I spent less then 1 hr in the dealership picking it up. (Stole it from them)

I have purchased many Honda and Acura cars over the years, but am still amazed at the tricks they try to play. I guess that I feel they are good cars and the dealers should be respectful also.

I picked up my 2008 TL Type S in CBP/ES this passed weekend in SoCal. I had used this form for research and get ideas on what to pay. It seemed that getting a CBP/ES was going to be difficult. I called 10 to 15 dealers trying to find one that was in stock but had no luck. I knew there was at least one, I got a deal going with CarsDirect and they would have one delivered to my house from the LA area.

I did get a call from the Acura dealer in the Car County Carlsbad in San Diego stating that the car I had requested had just come in. After a few emails, they agreed to match the best price I could get from a dealer in LA, and I would not have to drive so far to get it.

(Lying) When I got to the dealer she tried to pull the bait and switch routine with me. They had a CBP/Taupe then tried to push me towards a Silver/ES TL.

I had to laugh a little. When I told her that the color was wrong, she said, “I think the CBP/ES would clash really bad” I looked at her and said, “The folks at Acura who design cars for a living don’t think so”. :D Then she said, “Black seat are hot, and the Taupe would be cooler”. I had to laugh at her again, and say the TL comes with heat-rejecting green-tinted glass so it wouldn’t make a difference. I guess they will say anything to sell a car.

Then she claimed that I had requested the CBP/Taupe; but she had already confirmed in email that she understood.

“I know you have a busy schedule, but I just want to stay in touch and say that I have not forgotten about your interest in a new 2008 Acura TL TypeS (carbon bronze/Ebony-silver interior). Please keep me informed when the time is right for you to take a closer look.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
    Best regards,”

I was nice to her even though it was a major inconvenience and just started walking out. She followed and kept asking what dealer was going to give me the price we had discussed. I just said one in LA. She was not happy, and rudely stated that I bet they don’t have what I wanted and I should give a deposit to ensure they would meet the deal.

I then got a call from a dealer in Temecula. (Cheating) They stated they had the car I wanted, and I asked for a quote. They sent me a quote that was “A special Quote just for me” It seemed ridiculously low. It should have been. In the fine print, way at the bottom, it said this quote was for a 2006 TL. Not even close.

So after just a few weeks of looking for a deal that was lower then the CarsDirect price in my back pocket, I had settled on getting the car from the dealer in LA. I didn’t get a super great deal, but didn’t have to haggle for it either; they passed the 2K under invoice on to me, including the standard wheel locks and mudguards. They also had to dealer trade for it, something others wouldn’t even try.

I got it from Acura of Mission Viejo. The Internet guys were great. Gave me all the info I could have asked for, and worked with my schedule to pick it up. :)

The only part I disliked, was the time I had to spend in the dealership. They had the car and I had the cash, but it still took 2 or so hours to get out of there. Not that they pushed me to buy more stuff, just slow to process paperwork.

I have to admit, the CBP and ES looks great. Love the car. Lots of things still to learn. The owners manual is thick. :confuse:

Great story title and experience that I bet many can relate too, but are too lazy to type out. Great Share as a warning to those out there still to buy!

Hi guys!! Time to pay back!! I just got my 2008 TL Type-S over the Saturday. It is in Cabron Bronze Pearl with Ebony interior. I requested more than 10 quotes from all the dealers in Los Angeles area (far from Torrance South Bay to Tustin OC. Most of the quote I got back were about the same price and only few hundreds dollars difference. The best quote I got was from Metro Acura in Montclair and their price was $32,995 sales price and $36,063.78 out the door price. The OTD price also included $500 gift certificate card that can be applied to service for parts/accessories purchases at Metro Acura. However, I didn't get my car from Metro Acura because of the location. I ended up getting my car at Sierra Acura in Alhambra. They match the same sales price as Metro Acura but they do not offer any gift certificate card. They ended up offer me discount on the body kit (front, side, and read under spoiler kit) at discount cost and also the color match mud guards and wheel locks. The Internet/Fleet sales manager was very professional and nice. He walked me through all the functions of the car and aslo helped me setup my phone to sync with the car while waiting for all the paper works from the financial manager. I drove off the car from the dealer in less than 3 hours. Listed below is the break down of the prices.

    Sales Price ........................... $32,995
Body Kit .................................$1,000 (included installation and normally cost $1500 for parts and labor)
    Final Sales Price ....................$33,995
    Sales Tax @ 8.25% ............... $2,809.13
    Documentation Fee .................$55
    Registration ............................$284
    CA Tire Fee ............................$8.75
Out The Door .........................$37,151.88 included (body kit, color match mud guards and wheel locks)

Oh!! Also, the production date of my car was on Jan, 2008. =)

    Hi everyone
Looking for advice from Carman or anyone else about the following deal I concluded on a lease on Saturday for base Acura TL 2008 without Nav 3/30. Posted this on another forum but think this is probably the right site.

Sell Price: 30,723.78 (including 1045 customer cash and dealer contrib)
    MF: .00101
    RV: 19,630.80
    Tax: 8 %
    Down: 1260
    Monthly payment: 410/month
    36months/ 10 K per year.
Dealer threw in all weather mats ( a paltry $144 value)
Had a 2005 Camry XLE lease I turned in early.
Acura dealer paid buyoff of 13,000. I had to pay the difference which was about $720.
    Was this a good deal?
    Please advise
    Thanks

    Hello,

Does anyone know if you can combine the 0.9 financing with the 2K incentive? I am in the MA area. Thank you!
  • flbuyerflbuyer Member Posts: 11
I am interested in '08 Type-S. I know the $2K cash is still available...how about any special financing incentives...2.9%, 4.9% or someone indicated they got .9%?

    Thanks...
  • cj69cj69 Member Posts: 16
I'm in CT and spoke with 3 dealers who all say the current offers can not be combined. Either financing (2.9/60 or .9/48) or dealer cash (2000).

When I went to the dealer back in Jan they were offering the dealer cash and 2.9 financing; so not sure why the deals are getting worse and not better. I'm going to wait and see if they bring back the combined offer.
  • vfa1520vfa1520 Member Posts: 11
I am confused by your purchase.

According to the Acura website, you can't have the rear under body spoiler kit and mudguards. Kinda makes me wonder if this is the deal you really got.
  • dimsumlodimsumlo Member Posts: 16
I got my car on Sat without the body kit installed yet. I will go back to the dealer on Wed for the installation of the body kit. We will see by then. Thanks for your information thu. If I really cannot have both, I guess I will just sell the mudguards on ebay then.
  • mchalmersmchalmers Member Posts: 30
Thank you for your input. I agree with you as I will wait to see if they combine the two offers. I have time and can wait it out.
