Then, don't just ask your dealer to match or beat it... Ask them to beat it substantially.. At least a half-point or more...
And, your credit score? Don't worry about a few inquiries.. You got a great credit score by paying all of your bills on time... As long as you keep doing that, you'll never have anything to worry about... The only time a credit score needs to be managed is when your credit is not very good..

They understand that if you have 15 hits to your credit report for an auto loan that you probably aren't going to be buying 15 cars. The same, however, can not be said for applying for credit cards. Multiple inquiries for revolving credit (credit cards) can and will send your score lower.
I think this another case of newscasters "making" the news instead of "reporting" the news ..... drop 15 inquiries on a mortgage or a car loan and you'll find yourself living in the same place and driving the same car .....

Is this a good deal? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks!
IMO your price seems to be few hundred bucks below invoice (considering the accessories) so that is good by any standards. Try to get him to beat the rate you are working with.
The trunk boot is a rubber lining that fits the trunk - protects from spills etc., and removes easily for hosing off. It came with the Pro Pack, which varies from dealer to dealer. Mine included mud guards, door molding, wheel locks and the trunk liner. As for the delivery, I paid zero for it - the dealer offered to deliver the car to us in Santa Rosa since we were spending the weekend there. We had six Bay Area dealers looking for our color combo, black/quartz, and Niello wanted to insure that we went with them.
I don't know the exact name of the Teflon coating - will get it for you. Don't go through the dealer for it unless you can get them to throw it in free. One dealer told us it would be over $1000, but most auto body shops will do it for around $250. Took the car on a road trip through the Central Valley - lots of bug splats, and when we got home they wiped off with a damp sponge. The coating can be applied to the undercoating, but we didn't have that done.
At a few bucks below invoice, seemed like a good deal. To get the price at 32,600 with accessories, I could not get Acura's 3.9%, so I am using my own 5%/60 months which is a pretty good rate right now.
Also, does anyone recommend getting GAP insurance through the dealer?
And should the dealer be calculating tax on fee like Doc Fees, title, etc..?
Thanks.
As it happens, he has exactly the car I want, and he doesn't know that I am as interested as I am. Where should I start in making in offer? Invoice? Below?
For anyone wanting an excellent deal and 5 star-rated services including being treated like Mr. Bill Gates, I highly recommend Ron Tonkin Acura in Portland, Oregon. I just drove 3 hours down from Seattle and picked up my 2006 Acura TL blk/blk/auto/nav and was personally greeted at the door by my well-dressed internet salesman. (I don't trust car sales people) but now I do with anyone from this dealership. He first informed me that the owner demands that EVERY customer is to be treated like the owners personal friend, if not then the employee may be discharged that same day.
Here are the facts, not only did they have my car at the right price... they treated me extremely well, My salesperson welcome me to the dealership then walked me over to my new beautiful car and gave me a full breakdown of the features. Then he introduced me to my finance guy (Figured this is a hand off) but not. Within maybe 7 minutes I was fully financed with Honda 3.9%, welcomed and congratulated on my purchase then escorted back out to my salesman.
My salesman then sat me down and went over the details of the warranty, sections of the owners manuals and other important information as a new owner should have. He also gave me personal recommendations which he was very knowledgeable about.
Finally, he walked me back out to my car and again reviewed some of the more important features and programmed the Nav system for me to get home. While we were loading into the car to go home a couple came up with a big smile and asked the salesperson if this was the car they came to see.... He politely explained to them that it was sold TO ME ! as he had tried to get them to place a small deposit to hold the car but they thought it was a salesman’s trick... NOT.
Anyway... the car, dealership and whole experience was excellent, I still can not believe it was so smooth... not catches, no extra charges, nothing but professionalism. I would recommend this dealership to ANYONE and would buy there again. I'm bothering to report all of this because they earned it and consumers need to know when a dealership performs this well.

What to know about "rate shopping."
Looking for a mortgage or an auto loan may cause multiple lenders to request your credit report, even though you’re only looking for one loan. To compensate for this, the score counts multiple auto or mortgage inquiries in any 14-day period as just one inquiry. In addition, the score ignores all mortgage and auto inquiries made in the 30 days prior to scoring. So if you find a loan within 30 days, the inquiries won't affect your score while you're rate shopping.
I did a tiny bit of research on Edmunds, and learned that a typical used TL, 3-5 years old with 40,000 miles, is worth $1,750 more than the prior year's TL with identical mileage and condition. So from that I deduce that the 05, brand new in the lot, is at least $1,750 less valuable than the 06 with the same features.
From what I gather from these boards, it is not unrealistic to expect to get an 06 TL for $1,000 over invoice. Difficult, perhaps, but not unrealistic. From there I conclude that, to get the same value on an 05, you'd have to buy it for $750 under invoice. Is this possible? Is my logic good? Comments? Thoughts?
I am excited to get my TL, and your write up brings me some piece of mind for the big road trip ahead. I'm also excited to get some good bonding time between me and my TL. Thanks for the story!
Awesome tale. Did you get the 33.5 or 34 deal (with what, if any, extras) for your TL Nav?
For that matter, stick with the MSRP and have them throw in some options, no matter how you cut the cake... it's an excellent buy.
It's a really nice car, well built, dependable, reliable and has great resale value.
To top it off, seeing how I was treated so well at my dealer in Portland, Oregon... I won't be buying a typical American car ever again. Gone are the creepy car salesmen or sales managers that I'm used to buying from each time I bought before.
Not true. I have an American built 1995 Chevy S10 V6 with 175,000+ miles on it that still purrs like a kitten. Probably put all of $500 into it over/above regular maintenance items (oil, tires, serpentine, batteries). Damn good truck. Most vehicles will last and perform for you as long as you takecareofem.
How's that Infiniti again? Is that American made?
Looking for an 06 TL in my garage soon. If it holds up as good as the truck I'll be happy. The US auto worker has learned a thing or two in the past few years about the car building business. I'd buy American - or I should say American built.
Is this the best one posted yet?
Beats what my dealer was selling for.
Went in to negotiate on the last day of the month yesterday.
I couldn't get below 35.2 (maybe 35) for nav+protection package  .
I'm holding firm at 34 which is a reasonable and fair deal but still so very disappointed.
Too bad Kansas (and a good deal) is so far away
How much for shipping? How has that worked for others? (Rethinking my optionshere)
Seemed like a good deal to me. Any opinions?
Also, I was offered a wheel and tire warranty for about $450. Is this a good idea? Can get a tire warranty for $100, but was wondering if there were issues with bent wheels with the low profile tires and the always present road rash on the wheels due to curbs.
I was talking about buying a TL from KS (if I could get that price too) and shipping it to Baton Rouge where the deals stink in order to bypass them and still come out ahead..
I told BR 34 even (incl pro pack) is a fair deal (defined as both parties being happy and respecting they have to make a little money too) and didn't budge.
They left my money on the table.
The sales guy was nice enough about it and I guess and we parted on semicordial terms. I even got a reply email thanking me for the opportunity to earn my business and sorry we couldn't meet my price; also that it was their best deal and he hoped we could still do business. ... C'mon, you know what to do.
Achenator: no blues (vehicles, that is). I've got the "crappy deal for a TL" blues, tho!
Send me private email if you want to chat more about the heartbreak.
Can someone tell me if a SACD is compatible with the audio system? Is it the same as a DVD-A? Thanks
SACD is not hte same as DVD-A. Format wars rear their ugly head. I don't think it will work in the TL. But another format -- DTS - should.
Happy motoring.
Great car, drive is fantastic, stereo is superb, interior materials are high quality
After 1 week of driving it...felt much better than my new maxima 9 years ago
I in around 7500 on a 325i lease. dealer offers 4200 cashback I give bmw another 3k or so to terminate lease. Should I jump on this????..
Thanks and congrats on your new baby.

Glad to know about Chevy Chase. Do you mind sharing what your deal was?
2006 TL Automatic with NAV, Silver/Ebony
+carbon fiber steering wheel
+tinted windows
+wheel locks
offer is 36,000 including TTL (drive-out price)
Is this a good price?
Give a better breakdown especially before TTL (that can vary depending where you are); that would help. Where are you getting the offer?
Curious about the wheel. Was it already on the car or something you wanted? Not appealing at first glance or worth it to me but if it suits you that's what matters.
I like the fact that Ron Tonkin Acura tells me that loads of Seattle people come their way..
Portland is ready to deal, Seattle is not.
I can't mention the salesmans name but if you contact the internet salesman you will deal with my guy. He is a square shooter, I learned to like him quickly.
