    > the MSRP went up by $435 after the first of the year, so is the actual sticker on your car this amount or less?
    ...
    >Assuming the invoice price went up by $400 (versus the $435 MSRP increase) and you still pay the advertising fee, in your case, that would equate to invoice, plus the $250 fee, less about $2,150.

Please note that the invoice price increase should not affect the cost of the vehicles on the dealer's lot that were already there prior to Jan 10. If you visit a dealer, ask the salesperson to see if they can share with you their inventory list, which should list the date each car got in.

Looking for some feedback...the wife and i are planning to purchase a XC90 2.5T. The dealer was telling me that is it cheaper to have the the SUV made and have us go to sweden and get it delivered. has anyone done the overseas delivery option? Also, I have another dealer quoting me $40,191 (plus ttl and fees) for a '96 XC90 2.5T with:

    Blue Metallic Paint
    Climate Package
    Premium Package
    Convenience Package
    Premium sound
    and the Bi-Xenon Lights

I am in Houston, Tx. What kind of deal have you all seen in this area?

What is the MSRP? You should get at least 6-7k off MSRP. XC90 will get a facelift in June or July this year. From the picture, the "new" XC is better looking.
  • shibs1031shibs1031 Member Posts: 3
    kiiwii,

MSRP is 43,685.00. Thanks for the feed back. Looks like there is room for negotiation.
  • clemtig86clemtig86 Member Posts: 3
Who has gotten 'at least 6-7k off MSRP'? Best I see in this forum is just shy of 6,000. I would expect at least 4,000, but those numbers seam unrealistic.
  • kiiwiikiiwii Member Posts: 318
Without negotiation, the price quote I received is exactly $6k off MSRP. This is for a new XC90, not a demo or used one. I have bought a Volvo from this sales person back in 2004. I'm sure that I can ask for another $500 or so off the MSRP.
  • bmcginbmcgin Member Posts: 2
The deal I worked out is this:
    2006 XC90
    Premium
    Versatility
for $35,595 MSRP is 41,905. (This includes the prep fee.)

They are putting the car on a flatbed truck and will deliver tomorrow morning to my home in Panama City Beach. This was a $200 fee.

The rules say it's ok to mention the dealer, and I think I got a good deal, so it's the least I can do. It came from Dyer and Dyer Volvo in Atlanta.
  • jk30jk30 Member Posts: 10
I was able to get a little over 7k off MSRP through Military Sales Overseas; on my new 06 V8. I know that this is not a purchase option for everyone, but it can be sold at that price.
  • volvonutvolvonut Member Posts: 2
I live in Northern California and $7-8K is doable. Last year, I purchased a 2006 2.5T with Premium/Versatility/Convenience/Cold Weather/Metallic Paint for $37,800. The MSRP was $45,650 and the out-the-door price was a little less than $41.3K. Good Luck
  • volvonutvolvonut Member Posts: 2
Forgot to mention, the car also had AWD.

For people who like to travel, I would like to point out, that they will be better off with the OSD, no matter what kind of domestic discounts they can get.

    ~$4000 in OSD price savings
~$2500 for two round trip tickets to Europe in summer
-a lot of $$$ saved by driving your own car there
And like in a Master Card commercial - the totally different buying experience and great vacation- priceless.

So, the combination CAR+summer vacation in Europe is much more attractive, if you buy OSD.

    Hi llh,
Is it a 2.5T or V8? Can you please give more details?

    Thanks in advance.

what kind of dealer discount should i expect on a 06 premium package (free from volvo until april 3 06 value 2995 ) climate, versatility, touring, convience packages.roof rails, bi-xenon, navi, clean air, cargo box on a 2.5 T . should it be 5-6 thousand on top of the manufac. incentive.

Anyone know the current money factor and residual value for 2006 XC90 V8 AWD in MI. Drove the 2.5 and felt it was significantly underpowered. Thanks.
  • enginoneenginone Member Posts: 20
Have talked with a dealer in San Jose who has offered a base white 2.5T, FWD at $31,688 (newspaper ad, no haggling yet on my part). Is this a good deal given the other posts about $6-7k discounts? Should I be able to get closer to $30k? Might the discount be lower here due to the base model? I'm fine with the base model, but need help figuring out if some of the other options are worth the extra dollars? It seems the prices jump rapidly to $35-$37k by adding premium, versatility, metallic paint. Hard for me to justify when the base car is so nice. AWD is a consideration, but again unsure of the cost/benefit trade for my needs (occasional trip into snow, previous good luck w/FWD and chains).

If I did opt for base 2.5T as above w/AWD, what should I pay in the SF bay area?

    Thanks for the help.

I have recently gotten an internet quote from a local dealer in NC for a White 2006 Volvo XC90 2.5 AWD, Premium Package for $36,100. This vehicle is in stock or I can order it. Is this a good price? I have been researching on different car sites and it seems to be. I am not very good at this negotiating thing and tend to be intimidated. Can someone please help me??

    Hello!

My husband and I are considering buying a new 2005 or 2006 Volvo XC90 and have heard lots of negatives regarding the reliabilty and problems with it, can anyone give their insight or experiences (positive or negative appreciate). We really must have a dependable vehicle it is the whole reason we are shopping for a new vehicle. Please help, we're making a decision within teh next 2 weeks.

We're between an XC90 and the Lexus GX. But really like the third row in the XC90.

    Thanks!!

If you do some search on the web, you will find Volvo doesn't make the most reliable vehicles. My current and previous cars are Volvos. I bought them not because they are reliable. I bought them because they are very safe cars. My person experience with Volvo's reliability isn't great. And, worst of all, Volvo is very expensive to repair and maintain. Depending on your priority. If safety is your number 1 concern, go with Volvo. Remember to get the extended warranty.
  • enginoneenginone Member Posts: 20
We bought the car on 2/25/06. The dealer went to $30,841 (effectivly split the difference with us) on a base white 2.5T FWD (before taxes and fees). Also included the cargo cover as a perk.

Very pleased with the buying experience and our salesman at Smythe Volvo in San Jose.
  • enginoneenginone Member Posts: 20
To be fair, all new models can have some growing pains. Volvo seems to have worked through any big ones with the XC90. Including the one we just bought, this is our third Volvo (but the only one we own at present). Our 82 240 GL Turbo was tough as nails. Yes, it needed occasional maintenance, but it was one of the best vehicles we've ever owned. They are built with high quality components that can be expensive if they fail, but they also tend to last longer too (i.e., fewer replacements in the long run). So, please consider the true cost of ownership of the duration of time you'll own it.

I should let you know that once the warranty is up, I tend to do my own maintenance except for major engine or A/C work, so my perspective may be a little skewed. I'm not sure how well that will work with the XC90 as it's much more complex than my '82 or '87. But, I'll still get the manuals so I understand the systems if I do need to ask for help.

Best of luck in your decision. If you cannot overcome your concerns, it may not be the right car for you. Buying a Volvo is a Zen thing -- you either bond with the brand, or you don't.

I picked up my new 90 yesterday! And I just LOVE it! On the drive home I was thrilled with my choice & so happy that I didn't get the S80. It has great speed & handling. It rained the entire ride home (128 miles) and it was just a dream ride! I love it!!
One odd thing that happened on the way home, the CD player stopped working. I tried to change the disc & it wouldn't eject or play one of the other 5???? The entire radio unit felt very hot to the touch also..?? I'll do some research on that....

Looking for some feedback on this deal..

    2006 XC 90 2.5T 5 passenger
    -Magic Blue
    -Premium
    -Climate
    -Blue Tooth accessories

MSRP is $41,240...Dealer said he could sell to me for $34,900. Does not include tax, title, etc. What do you all think? Should I pull the trigger...hah....Thanks for your help...
  • enginoneenginone Member Posts: 20
Without knowing what the Bluetooth goes for, that price seems fair, if it already includes destination charge. I added your paint and options (at Edmunds listed invoice price) to what I recently paid for a base XC90 in white, and it came to ~$34,675 without Bluetooth. I felt my deal was very fair without having to engage in protracted haggling. Five seaters may be getting some extra push to move them, as the 7 seaters seem to be much more common.
  • lev_berkovichlev_berkovich Member Posts: 858
    FYI.
Bluetooth (dealer installed) is sold for $399 in LA area.
  • jgirl1jgirl1 Member Posts: 2
Hope this is not too late a reply...I've been working with two dealerships in SoCal, and finally got my car today. We paid drive off (licensing +1st payment), $0 down, and our lease has 12K mi per year for 36 months (the XC90 2.5T included Premium & Versatility & Bluetooth). Our payments are $475 + tax ($512 here in CA).

The deal we got was at Southbay Power Volvo. We were also given the same deal at Santa Monica Volvo, but they did not have the color I wanted (red).

Hope someone can do at least as well or better than this.

I got a quote (West Covina) for a V8 AWD with Nav and Entertainment for $599 and $1800 drive off.

that..sounds like a good deal. I just wonder what would I save if go with a model w/o the Entertainment.

    Hi Folks,

I have a PIN for an X-Plan discount from Ford for a 2006 V8 XC90. I have several questions about this:

    1) Does anyone know how much of a discount of MSRP this is good for?

    2) I'm assuming the discount covers the base car only, and not the packages. Is there room to negotiate on the price of the packages if you are getting the X-Plan discount, or do you pretty much have to take what the dealer offers you on the packages?

    Thanks!

    Jim

p.s. If it matters, we are located in Bellevue, WA.
  • ursusursus Member Posts: 128
    Jim,

    1. X-plan selling price on Volvo is invoice + 2%. You may be able to negotiate with a dealer a little, to maybe 1.5%.
X-plan price is printed on the dealers' invoice, so you will see upfront.
    2. No, it covers everything, including packages. So, no matter how loaded your car, it will be invoice + 2%.

If you have access to X-plan, you can read the rules on the Ford's partner web site.

    Good luck.

I am considering to buy XC 90 for my wife and baby, but I don't know what will be the good deal with it (best offer so far is $29500 ,a trade-in 2000 Infinti I30, 52000 miles then will be $20500). And is there much different between base model and premium package. We want to know if it's worthy to pay extra for premium pkg.
How reliable is volvo? do we expect many little problems? We've never had a volvo before, so not really sure about the car . The main reason for us to consider XC90 is safty, but is it really worthy to take the risk? ">

    3bb:

volvo is offering a free premium package through April, I believe. go to volvousa.com and check "special offers" and you'll see it (along with the free bluetooth-march offer). my wife and i just bought:

    2006 XC90 2.5T
    Ruby Red
    Prem Package
    Versatility Package
    Climate package
    air quality system

    MSRP 44,950

    we paid $37,300
    almost $8k less than msrp.
  • 3bb3bb Member Posts: 2
    gumercindo:

Is that price (37300) including tax & lic? It's about $8000 more from the offer I got for my base model, but I know that is a prem pkg.... I will check the volvousa.com.
Do you guys like the car? Reliable? This is the last thing we concern before the final decision.
  • gumercindogumercindo Member Posts: 20
    3bb:

my price does not include tax and title. your $29-30k quote sounds about right.

volvo SUV is a great car. the volvo SUV is top notch in terms of safety and in resale value (if that's important to you). you won't find much more bang for your buck in terms of SUV, especially at the prices they're selling them for now.

I just bought a NEW 2006 XC90 from a South Florida dealer. Edmunds.com was a big help in negotiating the below terms:

2006 XC90 2.5 Turbo FWD (Green, Taupe Leather)
    Premium Package
    Versatility Package
    Convenience Package
    Metallic Paint
    Rear Seat Entertainment(Dual DVD screens)
    Wood Wheel
    Bluetooth (installed the week bought)

    MSRP (Sticker) @$46,000 ($45,520 ++)

    36-Month Lease
$800 total out of pocket (includes 1st month payment)
There were no other fees, tax, tag etc. paid
    12,000 miles per year
    $459 per month plus tax
$395 fee to turn in after 3-Years

I shopped this deal for months. The negotiated lease sales price was under $37,000 which is about $9000 off the sales price.

I got a quote for a 2003 XC90 2.5T with 25k miles. It is AWD, has premium interior and 3rd row seating.

It also comes with the remainder of 6 year 100k warranty.

    The dealer is offering $30k.

Anyone have an opinion on the price or recent experience with similar car?

    Thanks

How do you not pay taxes on the lease deal??

I was offered a deal of $499 per mth 39 mth lease
I have to just pay taxes less $400. They said they would take $400 off for my last payment on my Nissan i am currently leasing.

I wasn't sure if this was a good deal or not??

The deal of $800 total out of pocket sounds awesome!!

You didn't mention your market area, after several weeks of looking within 750 mile radius of Tucson, I just bought a 03 T6 in Las Vegas with 65k miles, certified, 100k warranty and all options less the 3rd seat for $28,900. One thing to pass on, Volvo of Las Vegas was absolutely stellar on the customer service end. When I noticed the transmission oil was looking in need of change, they not only did the purge / service in fast order, but offered to put the wife and I in a motel if needed in the event other issues came up that required more time. In spite of some reluctance on my part due the intitial mileage level, I see no reason to doubt Volvo's design or reputation once you have verified the previous owners dedication to properly maintain the vehicle. You will see some bad press on this board and others, yet keep in mind not all the facts are given or discussed. Not many of my own customers will own up to the fact they may have over-revved an engine, run it hard and hot, or whatever else common sense should tell you not to do that contributes to early failure of vehicles. With good common sense and comparisons in your market area you should be able to comfortably make an educated decision.

    Gumercindo,

Congratulations! $8k off msrp is excellent! I have noticed that the premium SUVs prices are getting lower due to higher competitions. The new Q7, ML, RDX(?), GL..... All are great SUVs, but not all have great prices like the XC.

    Hi,

Just picked up a 2006 XC90 2.5T in Southern California
    Magic Blue
    AWD
    Prem Package
    Versatility Package
    Rear Park Assist
    18 inch alloy wheels
    free Bluetooth

    MSRP 45,225

We paid $36,100 ($9,125 off MSRP, or 80% of MSRP) + fees

This forum was of great help in coming up with our target price. We got quotes from several dealers via email and phone, which strengthened our barganing position at the local dealership.
