The dealer we have in the DC area gave us a price <$400 below invoice and the vehicle is only partially loaded. So, I say, your deal is at least better than ours. Actually, since we are both looking for fully loaded T&C Limited in the DC area, you want to check with your dealer if he/she can give both of us the "best" deal if we both buy from him/her? I will be up for it. Let me know.

The stumbling block right now is price, trade or no trade.

Ask them if they'll sell it to you at the Friends price if you bring in a number. Then ask them what the Friends price is and verify it with what it says on Edmunds.

If everything looks okay get with the other person on here who says he has some numbers left and go for it.

Remember, the Friends price is 1% below invoice and any rebates or other price incentives are subtracted from that for even more savings.

If you're anywhere within 300 miles or so of the St. Louis area I can give you the number of a salesman who will deal straight with you and also get you the vehicle you want. Decide if it's worth the cost of a tank or two of gas for the amount you'd save on the purchase. ;)

I sent my info to the other person with the available discounts and haven't gotten a reply. I guess I'd rather have the number before even mentioning it to the dealer.

    Hi, Chris,
I recently bought a 2008 Chrysler T&C Touring, Stow-n-Go, silver, leather heated front and second fow seats, FWD, back up camera, and many other gadgets. As of today, it has 1,500 mi on it. There is nothing wrong with this minivan, but this is not the car I need since I'm single, and most likely, I will get rid of it soon.
I live in Brooklyn, NY. If you are interested in please contact me. Mark

What are the limits on a family discount? How much more does the family discount save over a friends discount?

I'll admit to having reservations about Chrysler reliability especially when comparing to Toyota and Honda. However many features on the new Chrysler/Dodge vans have my attention and the lifetime power train combined with a good enough price point will overcome those reservations.

    jkptam,

We decided not to go with the Town and Country (although not because of the price). The good deal that I mentioned was available at DarCars Waldorf.
  • natibugnatibug Member Posts: 1
Do not think that the Lifetime Powertrain is so great. I thought so too, but after siging on my new T&C today, come to find out you have to maintain records of everything done to the vehicle including oil changes, and they are required to be done every 3,000 miles. If this is not done, then the warranty is probably out the window. To top that off, even if you do all the documentation and all, if you sell the vehicle, the warranty does not pass to the new owners. So lifetime? I think not.
  • dennisctcdennisctc Member Posts: 1,168
Still a good deal if you plan on keeping it for any length of time. And if you then decide to sell it, you'll have all the records so the new buyer can see it was maintained properly, helping with resale, making it easier to sell etc..I'm sure they have some "window" for oil changes, and keeping oil change receipts etc...is something everyone should do. If you buy an extended warranty for another vehicle, you'd have same requirements probably and transferring it usually costs the buyer money.

My first new car was a 1983 Chevy Cavalier. I changed the oil every 3000 miles by myself (in the days before jiffy lube etc..). I put 180,000 trouble free miles on that car.... changing oil, new brakes, exhaust, plugs and had to replace the starter. There's a good reason for performing maintenance.

My Dodge dealer is always sending me coupons for $19 oil changes. At my last oil change, they had to perform a service bulletin for airbag sensor and had me leave car instead of waiting. When I picked it up later, they told me during their inspection they perform for all oil changes, they found out my outer tie rods were shot (due to Michigan's very poor pot holed "roads") and since my 3 year warranty (2005 GC) was up in 3 days, they fixed them for me then and there - under warranty.
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
if you sell the vehicle, the warranty does not pass to the new owners. So lifetime? I think not.

It is lifetime to the original owner - it clearly says that right in the warranty that anyone is welcome to read before they purchase. The warranty details are even posted right on the chrysler.com website.

You may be asked to show proof of regular oil changes or other maintenance if a problem occurs years down the road but since the manual specifies maintenance at specific intervals I don't see what the problem is. You wouldn't expect Chrysler to give someone a free brand new engine if they hadn't changed the oil in 20,000 miles and it stopped working because of that, would you?
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
I'm the type that keeps a vehicle for at least ten years (otherwise why buy new?) and probably won't put that many miles on per year so the lifetime warranty is worth something to me. I also don't mind the need for routine maintenance as they really only want to cover their manufacturing/design flaws and not the lack of care on the part of the owner.

Also, when I looked over the specifics, I didn't remember the requirement as every 3K oil changes, but more like 15K or 30K free dealer inspections. I'll have to look again. :confuse:

Anyway can anyone answer the family discount question for me? I have an uncle who works for Chrysler so I think I might be able to get the EC from him :D, but before I continue my research or bother him, I'd like to know how much the difference is.
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
The family discount question the other day had me puzzled. The only two discount programs Chrysler currently offers is the EP (Employee Purchase) and PP (Preferred Pricing - aka Friends).

The following is a list of who can purchase a vehicle under the Employee Purchase plan:

All Chrysler active full-time and part-time Employees/Retirees. Immediate family members including spouse, same-sex domestic partners,* parents, parents-in-law, stepparents, sons/daughters, sons/daughters-in-law, stepchildren, brothers/sisters, brothers/sisters-in-law, half brothers/sisters, grandchildren and grandparents.

The EP discount varies by region. Your uncle could look up the discount price for your zip code online. The Friends discount price is 1% below invoice. You can look up the invoice price on Edmunds. The EP is a slightly better discount but is very limited as to who can use it.

Any current rebates or other price incentives are subtracted from the EP or PP discount price for even greater savings.
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
If you are just considering about buying one, don't waste my time or yours.

I see I'm not the only one. Out of the 21 discounts I've personally given out (not including the dozen or so through co-workers) since last September only 6 have been used. When someone uses their number the date they bought the vehicle appears in my registered buyer database.

That means 15 other buyers who could have used these missed out because I didn't have any numbers left.

If you're ready to close the deal let me know and I'll TRT to get yu a number. Otherwise, it's just wasting everyone's time and costing other people lots of money.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
Thanks for the answer. I wasn't sure exactly how the program worked. When I was car shopping a few years ago the uncle offered to get me a discount, but since they weren't selling what I wanted I didn't follow up to find out more.

1% below invoice doesn't sound like much of a discount to me since I was able to do better than that on the last two cars I bought just by negotiating with the dealers. I'm still doing my research work and haven't figured out how far down I can negotiate the Toyota or Honda minivans. Still, as I said I like some of the options I only saw on the T&C/GC and I like the looks too.

tedebear, I sent rmbalisa my information after he wrote the "don't waste my time or yours" post and he's never gotten back to me. Actually he hasn't even logged back in since I sent him the message with my info. I'm hauling my kids from MN to FL at the end of March and WILL be doing it in a new van. I'd appreciate it if you could get me a number. I'll even send you a picture of 4 very happy little kids in the new van!

Even if you can't get me a number your posts have been very helpful, thanks.
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
    Flanders,

Send me a PM with the required info and I'll see if I can get one for you by tomorrow. I'm all out of numbers and a few of my reliable co-worker contacts have used their 6 up but I'll ask around.

Has anyone ordered a T&C from the factory lately? We ordered one 2 weeks ago and I'm just wondering about how long they're taking to be built/ delivered. We were told about 4 weeks. It's a Limited.
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
i sent you a msg flanders. i put you as a registered buyer, but never finished the process by actually sending it. sorry about that...
  • bdpstlbdpstl Member Posts: 2
Does anyone have an educated guess or insider knowledge of upcoming dealer interest rate incentives that will be offered? I have decided on leasing the T&C, but can't bring myself to commit on the cash rebate alone. I did see on automotive.com that Chrysler is offering a 5.3% on a 36 month lease but want to wait until it gets to the 3% range. How long do you think I'll have to wait? Advice?
  • waterloomanwaterlooman Member Posts: 15
would anyone have a friends discount number they could give out for this year, we certainly would appreciate it so we can purchase a new van
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
We are purchasing a fully loaded '08 Town and Country Limited and are getting prices from a few dealers. We are ordering the following:
    Black/Cream
    Sunroof
    Power 3rd row seat
    MYGIG w/ NAV
    Swivel n go seats
    Entertainment Group #3
    Engine Block Heater
Built in booster seats for 2nd row (yeah...finally available!)

We are in zip code 14450 (Rochester NY area)

Best price we've gotten so far is $38400...less $1000 cash rebate and $1500 lease loyalty for a grand total of $35900.

Is this a good deal? Any input would be appreciated as we plan to order this week!

    Is this a good deal?

No, that's a bad deal. The minivan market is soft. What is the Edmunds listed TMV of this vehicle? Should be a lot lower
2021 Honda Passport EX-L, 2020 Honda Accord EX-L, 2011 Hyundai Veracruz, 2010 Mercury Milan Premiere.
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
with all the above listed options the Edmunds TMV is listed at $38984. I keep hearing about "friends" discount too? Any insight? Thanks for your help!
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
Not a bad price... only $275 above invoice. I think you could still get it knocked down a bit.

It may be a little late in the process, but you might still try the Donkeypunch method I found in the Odyssey forum. It is a rigorous version of what I did when I bought my 2005 Subaru Legacy and I got that about 1% below invoice with 60month/3.9% financing. As soft as the minivan market is right now, I think you could do at least as well.
    See donkeypunch method here:
donkeypunch1, "Honda Odyssey Prices Paid and Buying Experience" #17261, 18 Nov 2007 1:25 pm

If you know someone who works for Chrysler, they could give you a friend's EC number that would save the work by automatically putting you at 1% below invoice.
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
    3kidmom,

that is a pretty bad price. I have the MSRP of your config as $39350. I assume you are leasing and the friends price for that is $32,979 which includes a $3871 friends price (1% below invoice), $1500 cash rebate and $1000 loyalty cash.
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
    rmbalisa,

I appreciate your help.....The Edmonds MSRP shows at $41965?
Yes, we are leasing and are currently in a Chrysler lease to we can take advantage of the cash rebate and loyalty cash. What do you think we should pay for this car?
Do you have or know anyone that we can get the Friends price through?
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
    3kidmom,

my bad...i didnt put all the options. the friends price is now $35258. as for friends pricing, i could get you one since i work for chrysler financial. but i have given out a couple of friends discounts, and they have not used them, and those discounts cannot be transferred or canceled. if you can assure me you will definitely use the discount, i will give you one. please do not waste my time in going through to add you to the system.
  • staciystaciy Member Posts: 8
The msrp on an 08 Touring is 35,400. It has 25m package, mygig with nav, and backseat tv. I got a price of 29.625 which I thought was pretty good. It seemed to be lower than friends price. Any thoughts out there? Thanks. I'm hoping to buy this week and am going to my local dealer last, as suggested.
  • donnelloomisdonnelloomis Member Posts: 2
Does that price include any rebates? I'm also looking at the touring to buy this week. Also do you know what the new incentives are that start next week?
  • staciystaciy Member Posts: 8
Yes, that does include all rebates. I don't know what the new incentives would be. Maybe someone who works with Chrysler will know.
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
    rmbalisa,
Thank you so much. We have been waiting since Oct to lease the T&C and my current lease is up mid May so we are definately making the move in the next day or two. If we can get close to the friends price on our own, I will leave your generous offer for someone else who may need it more than I do. I am expecting several quotes today so if no one can get me close to that number I would love to take you up on the offer and I can assure you that I would DEFINATELY use it!
In your opinion will a dealer ever come in below that price?
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
not likely, unless you are an employee. we get 5% below invoice, so its another 4-500 dollars off of friends. if you dont need ALL the options in a limited, the signature series is a great value since it has the dual dvd at no charge. let me know how you do in pricing.
  • tsgraysontsgrayson Member Posts: 9
I know I am a little late to the conversation but how did you get such a good price (5% below invoice)? Our Honda is about to kick the bucket and I am about to go overseas for the Navy and I need to get the T&C quick for the wife :)
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
employee discount is 5% below invoice. friends discount is 1% below invoice. only employees can give out 6 friends discounts a year. the good thing is that there is no negotiation. its a set price in addition to any rebates that are offered.
  • flanders140flanders140 Member Posts: 18
I'll second the recommendation of the signature series. You'll miss out on the more comfy seats, bigger engine and seat memory, but the value is spectacular. We purchased a T&C signature series with security, tow, swivel n' go, premium sound, backseat TV and nav for $31, 811 +TTL with the friends discount. The MSRP before discounts was $37,860. The discounts include friends discount (1% below invoice) $1525 dvd discount for the 25L package and 1500 rebate.
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
Thanks...we really do want the Limited w/ the larger engine. Just to confirm the friends price you quoted earlier would include the $1000 cash rebate plus $1500 lease loyalty right? So the set price is what you stated (plus tax/title/lic)? I am still waiting on some quotes but will let you know ASAP!!
    Thanks again
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
yes, but its actually $1000 lease loyalty and $1500 cash rebate, but the same difference.
  • donnelloomisdonnelloomis Member Posts: 2
i have a 2005 t&c i am leasing that is due in june. they have offered us a option to turn our lease in early with no penalties. we are looking to buy the t&c 2008 signature series mygig multimedia infotainment, with navigation and flexible(swivel seating) it has a sunroof and the customer preferred package 25m Right now her price is $31,909. It has a MSRP of 36,295. Do you think this is a good deal? :confuse: We have 1500 cash back and $500 auto show discounts applied. I need to purchase this sometime wednesday because i would like it by friday.
  • tsgraysontsgrayson Member Posts: 9
Is there a place where you can locate someone who is giving out the discount?
  • mmakolmmakol Member Posts: 12
    Hello all,

My wife and I dexided today to hit a local dealership and begin our quest for our replacement T&C.

We selected Arrigo Dodge in Palm Beach Florida as they had about 6 of the sug series in stock. That was the exact vehicle we wanted as we feel it is the bet bang for the buck as far as our "nice to have" options go. Of course we were told they were all gone, but some more on the way within he next few weeks or so.

We proceeded to look what was in stock, about 20 vehicles.

We settled on 3 to try to work out some #'s on.

The 2 deals we worked on were as follows.
    08 T&C Touring with 25L package

    MSRP $31,450
    Residual 53%
    Lease End value $16668.50
    Selling Price $28209.33
    Plus: Capped Fees $1299.95
    Less: Cash Cap red. $763.64
    Rebate $2500.00
    Adjusted Cap Cost $26,339.55

    Monthly payment was $369.00

This was for a 36 mo lease with about $1600.00 dwon to cover 1st, security, tax, tag...etc....

Next package I never got the #'s as detailed as above but it was
08 T&C with 25M package, Power Folding Rear Seat, MyGIG multimedai infotainment system, and Sirius backseat TV.

    MSRP was listed as $35,995.00

This was presented as a monthly payment of $414.00 with same downpayment as previous. Around $1600.00.

What do you guys think of those..?
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
    rmbalisa,
Thanks for all your help with this...we are still waiting on 1 last quote. I will know tomorrow and will let you know what we find out by the end of the day.

    Thanks again!
  • meghapmeghap Member Posts: 4
    Hi rmbalisa,
We have decided to buy T&C touring or dodge sxt and would definitely use a friend's discount. I contacted six dealers for price but best I am getting is from a costco recommended dealer and his price which is about 2% above invoice. We have two kid and our current van is 10 year old and needs a quick replacement due to rusted strut....I can assure you that I would be using the discount to do the purchase in next 2 weeks. You can send me direct email at meghapatel_rnATyahooDOTcom as well and I would give you necessary details. Thanks in advance.
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
    rmbalisa,
I was just jumping on to follow up with you on our final price. Thanks again for all of your help! We ordered our new T&C today for the price of $35900 with the Sold Order Protection on the current $2500 rebates. If we currently lease our Pacifica, does the $750 Owner Loyalty Program apply to us? Of course, the dealer didnt mention this when I went in today but considering they didnt know about Sold Order Protection they must not have known about this!
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
Just got this in an email...

We are pleased to announce enhancements to the February incentive program. The following enhancements are effective today, Thursday February 21, 2008 through Friday February 29, 2008:

    * 2008 Model Year Town & Country and Grand Caravan

    > $750 Owner Loyalty Program - Minivan Segment
    > $750 Owner Loyalty Program - Chrysler Group
Note: (both of these programs are compatible with Lease Loyalty)
  • meghapmeghap Member Posts: 4
    Hi,
Does this enhancement to incentive mean that if I own a plymouth (chrysler) minivan than I get 2 more rebate of $750 each (total of $1500) for buying the van in addition to the current $1500 offer? Please correct me about how this new incentive would work...

Also rmbalisa - any chance of getting a friend's discount number for me? I would really appreciate your help....
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
    Brandy,
Sold Order Protection means that if you are ordering a T&C, they will "lock in" the current incentive program ( in our case $2500 ttl) and upon delivery of the vehicle in April (approx) they will honor the current incentive or give you the new incentive...whichever is better
  • patrickfamilypatrickfamily Member Posts: 10
I am looking to get a T& C soon. What is a sold order protection?
    Thanks,
    Brandy
  • rmbalisarmbalisa Member Posts: 129
3kidmom, i would assume that you could use the $750 chrysler group rebate. but i would immediately follow up on the details of it. unfortunately what i posted is all i know. i dont work in sales to know the specifics. but i would assume its $750 max...either qualify for one or the other.
  • 3kidmom3kidmom Member Posts: 14
    Thanks rmbalisa,
I did call Chrysler Rebate Center after seeing your email to confirm the details, she was not completely familiar w/ it since its brand new today but she found it and advised me that it was in addition to the current leasing programs......so FYI for anyone else.....according to Chrysler, the $750 is in addition to the $1500 cash and $1000 lease loyalty they are currently offering to returning leasees......(I forgot to ask her if this incentive was "order protected" also though......)
  • phred84044phred84044 Member Posts: 17
The new T&C Touring Signature value package (25L) is listed on the sticker at $5,045. Does anybody know what the invoice price of this package is?

What are the current leasing offers from Chrysler right now including money factors and residuals on the T&C Touring Signature?
