VW numbers are national.

36/12 on 2016 GTI is .00175 and 61%. Add 1% for 10K.

January numbers released on 1/5/16 .. we should get them shortly thereafter.

I'm a little confused about lease payments. I'm getting about $288/mo and the dealer is coming back at $384 with $300 out of pocket 

2016 gti SE DSG with LP 
msrp - $31,850
discount - $2000
rebate - $1884
adjusted - $27,976

Doc fee - $75
tax - $1256
dmv - $112

Total - $29,420

Im in NY with 8% tax
residual is $19,435

Am I doing my calculations wrong?  It's a 3 year 12k lease

VW does not offer a security deposit program.

GTIs are quite popular and, therefore, not cheap to lease.

Yeah seems like it would be cheaper to get a GLI SEL.

Probably. But the GLI is a totally different car. Different platform, different engine tuning. Make sure you like it equally if you decide to go that path.

What is the MSRP? Selling price? How much is due at signing?

Out the door selling price, all rolled into lease: 27,290 (including 7% tax on whole car, title, 699 dealer fee, 625 acquisition fee, first month payment)

by "tax on whole car," I mean, in my state, you have to pay full sales tax for a leased car.

What is the payment?

Some states have the nasty habit of charging sales tax against the entire selling price - really jacks up the payment.

GA does charge 7 percent against the entire selling price. It comes to 2,024 in taxes. The monthly lease payment with no money down is 349 for 36/12k. (GTI S w/performance pack and lighting pack).

Ah yes, the infamous "ad valorem" tax. The $2K in taxes adds about $58/mo to the payment.

Thanks. It actually comes to about 1750 in taxes, because I learned GA taxes on the agreed on selling price or their state-determined price, whichever is higher. It does seem like a solid deal, though my calculations keep coming to 328 instead of 349. Another dealer today quoted me a 54% residual. Has that changed already for January?

The VW numbers are valid until 1/4/16, so far as I know.

Completed deal on GTI SE manual for 0 down and $329 per month for 36/12k, and that includes the hefty charge of $1850 in GA ad valorem taxes. The dealer needed to meet its end of the year quota, so I am pretty sure this is a very good deal at 329/month. Any thoughts?

$5600 off MSRP? That doesn't sound right.

Dealer told me it includes $1,500 conquest. And I see other dealers in the area advertise same discounts. That's the reason I'm thinking about leasing it. For around $300/month including tax+dealer fee+aqusition fee - how can you go wrong? And I have a feeling there is another $1,000 off can be had.

P.S. Just looked up a few dealers - they do not include freight, so the discount is actually around $5,000 +-.

Found a couple with $5,739 off after deducting freight: Autobahn with Performance Package + Driver Assistance + Lighting, $36,440 MSRP for $30,701. And there is always a better price than advertised "internet price".

That's incredible. Yeah, checked my local dealers' "internet price". Most are offering $1200 off MSRP. Didn't try the Price Promise, though.

A friend leased a CC, a couple of years ago. Ended up leasing from a dealership in Maryland, which is 8 hours from here, due to a regional $1000 incentive, that wasn't available near us.

So, you might be right.

I would love to know what the regional incentives are for the DC/Baltimore area.

Multiple dealerships there advertising $4000-$6000 off MSRP, while my local dealers only advertise $1200 or so off..

Doubt that any differences in incentives is related to the "cheating" issue for TDIs.

I am in the market to get a new GTI. I have a Ford Focus EV that has 3 payments left. The 2013 Focus EV is $157/mo. lease payment (36 mo.). The original MSRP was $40k, and there was $7500 federal credit for EV + other spiffs that made $14,970 in cap cost reductions, making the adjusted cap cost $23,494 and a residual value of $17,997. I'm looking for a deal for a top of the line GTI, 2 dr., black, MT, SE with every option available for a REASONABLE 36 month lease price. If I use the example of my current lease, get a discount from the dealer say for 5k, put 5k down, and get the car for let's say as an example $25k, why is the cost with lease calculators hundreds of dollars more than a $157/mo lease I have that is the same amount? Also, if you look at the VW Golf EV, as an example, they are leasing the $30k car for $169/mo. What can't I get a gas GTI for similar costs? What am I missing, why do the numbers not make sense? ($157 for a $40k ford Focus EV, $169 for a $30k VW Golf EV, and $4-500 for a GTI????)

GTIs are popular. The money factor is equivalent to 3% APR. The other lease deals involve almost free financing.

But, if you take a GTI with a $35K MSRP and get the CAP cost down to $25K, the payment will be about $169/mo.+tax on a 36mo, 12K/yr. lease.

Maybe the problem is with your calculator.

Also, the other thing is that you are very likely not going to get a discount of $10k on a loaded up GTI. The biggest discounts, for sure, seem to be on the Autobahn GTI's, but at best with all incentives maxed out, the biggest discount I've seen floating around is 6k. Some of those incentives require financing and not leasing, which removes them from consideration here.

As Kyfdx said, between the interest rate and less discount on the GTI vs. some of the electric vehicles you mentioned, you end up with a higher lease payment.

.00125 and 58% for 36/15. Add 2% for 12K. All GTI trims.
