Hi there Michaell - 2 door please. I actually got a quote (that I think was ridiculous but maybe isn't) for a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport 36mo/10K per year (they said 2015's are leasing better than 2016s) - 6.3% interest rate (.002625 mf, he said they deal in interest rates not money factor) and 65% residual. Residual seems good (I think) but that interest rate seems crazy to me. Thanks for your insight!

That looks like an ALLY bank lease.. we don't have their numbers.

Any Unlimited but the Rubicon and Sahara are 67% residual for 36/15

Forgive me if the residual is listed somewhere here for a 2016 Unlimited Freedom Edition but I did not see it. I assume like all the above the MF will be "standard". Looking for 36mo/15k. I know it's not the smartest way to buy a vehicle but if I intend to buy this Wrangler at lease end would it be beneficial if I negotiated a 36mo/12k lease even though I know I'll go over the allowed mileage?? What I am looking to do is drive down the capital cost with a larger down payment (which I also understand isn't the smartest idea), but getting low monthly payments in this lease is the only way I will be getting into a Wrangler. Thank you!

Wranglers have never been - or will be - cheap to lease. The standard MF is around .00200, but we don't know the exact number and the dealer is free to mark it up for extra profit.

Yes, I understand all that you have commented on. I am in a peculiar situation where technically I am not going to be paying the monthly payment, plus I will also be "helped" with the upfront finances (down payment). Really at lease end is where I would take over financial responsibilities, whether I chose to lease again, or purchase the vehicle off of the lease will be the discussion roughly 3 years from now. LOL. Basically I've been given a budget and as long as I stay within those means, I can lease whatever "fits".

Whoever is 'helping' you with the down payment is then putting their money at risk - is that party aware of this?

Yes really it's not a ridiculous amount, but it will probably be between $5k and $7k down. As for "losing" the down payment, my only contribution is $3k. My employer has already agreed on supplying $5k of the down payment and a $250 allowance per month. I'm also aware of how dealerships like to mark up money factors to ridiculous rates of .0029 or higher, which if that happens I do not intend to conduct business at that dealer. I really appreciate your insightful comments. Thanks!

No, the entire down payment is at risk if the car is stolen or totaled during the lease. GAP insurance will not reimburse that amount ... you are simply 'buying down' the payment and shifting the monies due for the lease to the inception, rather than spreading it out over the payments.

But, so long as everyone understands what's at stake, it's not my call to tell you what to do.

Yes, you'll want to find a dealer that doesn't mark up the MF .. may be hard on the Wrangler Unlimited

As someone who is new to these message boards and currently owns a 2010 wrangler I have a question. If the 4 door wrangler residuals are so hi 65+%, why are the lease payments so high? I have always understood the higher the residual the lower the payment?

Yes, but the MF is very high as well to offset the residual. And, there isn't a huge amount of discounting from sticker.
