Hello - I just leased a honda civic LX for 195/month. with tax it is around 209/month. Someone in my family was saying that leasing a brand new car is a bad idea because I will be paying around 1500 a year on excise tax. Is this true? I thought that the sales tax was around 6.25% for MA, but I'm not really sure where excise tax comes in. is that paid to the government at the end of the year?

Also - when I was signing the papers for my lease, the guys at honda were trying to sell me stuff to add onto my monthly payments such as honda lease insurance or whatever. I assume all of that is crap and that I shouldnt have gotten it? They were very pushy for it but I kept saying no.

I don't know if MA has a personal property tax; I know I do in Colorado, and it's paid with the registration annually.

So I have got another quote from dealer here NorCal which is I think is good. Let me know how it is. I haven't been able to find anything better than this.

Thank you so much for sharing your leasing experience with us Keyjey. It really helped me understand what to expect when I begin the process. Really appreciated.

May I please have the MF and RV for both 12k/36mo & 15k/36mo on the Touring? I reside in SoCal. Not looking to pull the trigger yet, just curious to see the change in numbers once September rolls around.

Also, I've noticed that one major recommendation is to not apply a payment on the cap cost. Would paying upfront the title, doc, acquisition, and/or tax fees be advisable to lower the payment?

    Thanks!

My local dealer has a "sign and drive" special.

2016 Honda LX CVT. MSRP 20275

    $185 Monthly

    36, 12.

excludes tax, license, title fees, registration, documentation fees.

    1) @ 7% tax I should be at around $200/mnth plus $600 at signing (doc, registration) according to my math? Does that sound right?

    2) Is this a good deal?

    Thanks guys.

    .00083 MF and 57%/55% residual.

You want to pay the non-taxable fees upfront, so they don't get taxed within the monthly payment. But, acquisition fees are taxable, either way, so roll those in.

So, first payment, title/registration fees upfront, everything else rolled into the CAP cost.

36/12 lease numbers on the Civic LX are .00070 and 62%.

With the MSRP and Balance Due prices, I get $239/mo, assuming $0 down. Rolling in the taxes and fees is adding almost $54/mo to your payment, before the rent charge is applied. If you pay the $1900 or so up front, your payment will be a lot smaller ($184/mo).

Looking at a modern steel metallic EX in suburb area of Flint, MI. Priced at $20,389. Got two offers for a 36/12: $1000 with $240/mo or 0 down $270/mo. Haven't tried to negotiate on them as of yet; any estimate of what I should be aiming to get them down to?

.00070 and 62% for 36/12 on the EX. With your prices, I get $213/mo before tax.

What is the adjusted cap cost? If higher than the "our price" price, find out what been added.

Is that with 0 down? Just curious because I talked to another dealer that said even 230/mo 0 down was far below what they could possibly offer (not taking that at face value or anything, just thinking about it for negotiating purposes).

I simply used the numbers provided. My guess is that the adjusted cap cost is higher than the selling price to account for taxes and fees that are being rolled into the payment.

Morning, everyone. I am new to this site, and the forums, so if my question is best answered in another area I'd appreciate if you could steer me in the right direction.

My current 2013 Civic EX lease is almost up, and I've been talking to several dealers about leasing a new 2016 Civic EX-T. While I have the purchase price negotiated already, I need some idea of the Money Factor and assumed Residual Value to determine my monthly payment, which the dealership won't give me until I'm actually there to do the paperwork. And yes, I understand credit score plays a key role, but my score with each of the three reporting agencies is 784 or better, which I understand would be "Tier 1" with most (all?) dealers.

Specifically, the car I'm leasing is a 2016 Civic EX-T, 36 months, 12,000 miles per year.

    Thank you in advance,

    Hello,
I am also new to this forum but have been following the posts. I am going to lease a 2016 Honda Civic EX-L, 12k, 36mo, for $232/mo including all fees, registration, tax, etc. This is in winter haven, FL. I have 750+ credit and I will just pay $232 and be able to drive out. Is this a good deal?

    .00070 and 60% for EX-L 36/12

We would need to know the MSRP and adjusted cap cost (selling price plus fees) in order to model the payment.

But, without knowing the details, $232/mo does look strong. I leased a VW Jetta SE last weekend for $233/mo with everything included, and that included some costs rolled over from my old lease.
