    Hello,
I just found this forum Sunday night.

I'm need to close a deal on a Orange hatchback manual with moonroof, ABS, leather, xenon and appearance package for $18,250 by Thursday. I registered with Mazda tonight and got an e-mail from Gerber on Monday. We'll be closing the deal long distance Wednesday or Thursday and I'm concerned about the rebate. Can this paperwork be handled days after I buy the car when I pick it up? The dealer was not familiar with the Gerber rebate. They actually said that there were no cash incentives on this car.

Can someone direct me to an explanation of what the S-plan is? I mentioned it to one dealer and they were surprised that i knew about it. Which I don't. He told me it was a plan for Mazda employees only. That true?

    Thanks,
    Gary B.

We bought this car yesterday, now they have to locate it. We used the $500. coupon from Mazda and the dealership had sent some coupons to us in the beginning of June. The "Free Gas For 6 Months" coupon...$300....had no experation(?) date, so they reluctantly accepted it. The invoice price said $17,035, which is the price the internet manager gave us. They then deducted the $800. of coupons for a total of $16,235. He even rolled his dealer fee into that price...as I don't like to pay dealer fees and it was his idea. Then we added on T,T & L. They gave us $4,000. for our trade...Terry was right on with that one.
Hopefully they will locate the car this morning and we'll pick it up tomorrow afternoon. Eventhough she wanted the Titanium color, she finally decided on the Silver S.
Hopefully we'll be "zoom zooming" tomorrow night!

I just applied for that Gerber Coupon a few days ago, and hopefully get it soon.. My question is this:
    1. Do they do the $500 rebate first, and then Tax or Tax first then the rebate of $500?

    2. The Free Gas coupons, did they automatically send you those when you applied for the Gerber Coupon, or did you get it when you did a Internet price quote?

The wife wanted the (3) with: Auto, Moonroof+ CD package + ABS---Anyone have any ballpark figure in the SF/Bay area..

    Thanks,
    Keycard

This came right from the dealer with some other coupons that had expired on June 10th. The gas coupon had no end date so they reluctantly accepted it. With us, they used the $500. as a downpayment plus they would only allow $2500. to be put on the Shell Mastercard. Now all they need to do is locate a car, which they just called and said possibly tomorrow and definitely by friday, as a ship just docked up in Jacksonville. We'll see though, but he did say the deal is made and they will honor it even if it goes into the early part of next week. So far, they've been pretty upfront and their location is sweet...right outside our development, like 2 1/2 miles door to door.
Will keep y'all posted. I think we did pretty good with getting invoice and the use of the 2 coupons and getting an acceptable price on our trade which Terry nailed to the dollar!

Normally rebates are taxable - same as cash. So if you apply your Gerber or college rebate to a car, they calculate the tax then take off the rebates/coupons. Here the tax rate is 7% on the price of the car, so a $500 rebate nets you $465 in savings. It would work the same way if you asked them to mail you the money - since the price of the car would be higher and taxable.

I went to your links and found the front and back page of the ad. When I printed all I got was a large version of about one-quarter of the page.

Do you know how to print this so I get the entire ad. I have broadband and an HP inkjet printer.

I was able to submit the form to get the certificate number for the $600 off. It says that I must have the advertisement as well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I just checked them, and all the images are good. So check the sizes you have against the ones here:

    http://www.dwynne.com/mazda/gerber/

and I bet you will find you got an incomplete download. The larger set is scanned at a higher rate, but will be a long download w/o a high speed connection.

I can tell you that most dealers (including the one I was at today) are going to insist on the original card from Gerber and not a copy. So you will have to either get the images professionally printed double sided or hope your dealer does not ask for the original.

    Hi All,

    I've made a deal with a dealer about purchasing a Mazda i 2005 with:
    - Basic CD player;
    - Automatic;
    - A/C;
    - Power windows.

The base price they ask for is $16,000. After applying Gerber coupon, it is
reduced to $15,500. Plus 5% tax ($775), it becomes $16,275.
Plus document fee, $195, and title transfer, $65, the total is $16,535.

Is this a good deal? The dealer insists on my paying everything by cash or
finance but doesn't want to accept more than $1,000 creadit card payment.
BTW, I know another dealer in the area is willing to accept $8,000
    credit card payment.

    Is this a good deal?

Running the numbers on Edmunds.com shows an invoice of $16,106.

The doc and title fee are a touch on the high side, but the price is below invoice.

Dealers don't like the take credit cards because of the fees. Why do you want to use a credit card?

Anyway, a short answer to your question is - Yes.
  • smariasmaria Member Posts: 279
The last time I bought a car (3 years ago) the dealer wouldn't let me use a credit card at all...I thought that was standard, but I don't really know.

For me, it'd be nice to use a credit card instead of cash because I have a card that gives me 1% cash back on my purchases. If I use the card and then pay it off immediately (instead of giving the money directly to the dealer), I get a free $10 for every $1000 that I put on the credit card. Not a bad deal...
  • sandman46sandman46 Member Posts: 1,798
Our dealer let us put $2500. on our Mastercard. We have a Shell card and get free gas on all purchases, so it's a no brainer for us. Wanted to charge the whole car.
So far, the dealer hasn't been able to locate a car for us. Might have to unravel the deal. Another dealer just e-mailed me about a $2500. rebate...?...so I e-mailed him back to see if this is true and to see if they physically have the color we want in stock now. We made the deal at the nearby dealer on Tuesday and they still have no car. Won't wait if they can't get us a car by monday...but we'll see if the other dealer is playing fairly or is it just to get us in his showroom, as I won't go up there if he doesn't have a physical car sitting on his lot with a hold on it for us!

    Thanks for your answer!

The reason for my preference in using my credit card is that I can get 1% cash
back. For instance, if I put $10,000 on my credit card, I can earn $100 cash.
Then I can pay off my credit card balance. In this way, I earn cash back.

    Hi All,

Since I am getting a new Mazda, I'll need to sell my 2000 Nissan Sentra 2000 XE.
I want to know what's a reasonble price for my used Nissan. It's automatic,
with A/C, and has $53,600 miles on it. I ask for $7,000. It's in excellent condition
and looks almost like new because I take good care of it. For details and photos,
please go to craiglist.org, under "Boston", under "cars & trucks", search for "2000 Nissan Sentra" or "Nissan Sentra 2000". The one with a $7,000 price tag is
    my car.

People who are interested in buying tell me it should be around $5,500 according
to Kelly Blue Book private party value. However, the retail value for this car
according to NADA.com is $7,000. My neighbor also said it's worth $7,000.

I want to be reasonable. Anyone can give me advice on a fair price? Really
    appreciate all of your help!

If you want an expert's opinion.. post details of your car here:

    Real World Trade-In Values

There is a template at the bottom of the discussion... Follow that template and give plenty of details....

And, here is an inexpert opinion.. There is no way that a 5-year-old Sentra is going to bring $7K.. The books are sometimes way off...

The silver 3 came into the dealer this afternoon and we went to test drive it. Everything is great, they even put a gray pin stripe on it that isn't part of the deal, as we wanted black, so this will be gratis, as it's not on the signed deal. Since I never drove any 3 before, I was quite impressed with the pick up. The 2.3 does have a slight bit of torque steer as far as I'm concerned.
We were lucky that 1 of our colors came in on the ship wednesday and got to the dealer this morning. We're thrilled.

Sandman46--What did you get along with your 3s? I recall that you got it for around $16300? (That is with $500 cash back and the $300 Gas coupon)..correct?

We are looking also at the 3s, but the opening offer was around $17400 (Auto, ABS, Moonroof and CD)--(The 17400 is with the 500 cash back coupon.)

    Thanks!

All we got with the car was the automatic tranny and wheel locks for the alloys. They were already on the car, so we just accepted them. They are giving us the dark gray pin stripe gratis, as we really wanted a black stripe. We're going to order silver door edge guards from the parts department, as they are not in stock. We also want wheel well mouldings, but Mazda doesn't carry those and we can't find them anywhere. Our Alty and Sentra came with both of those items gratis...already on the car when we picked them up.
Picking her up about 3 this afternoon. The wife is outside now cleaning all her stuff out of the Alty.

    This is from another forum
    FYI

    New Features for 2006

The 2006 MAZDA3 is a carry-over model, but there are some exciting new features for 2006 models including the addition of variable valve timing (VVT) to the 2.0L engine, the addition of PZEV (for five states) to the 2.3L engine, and the addition of a 5-Speed Sport AT to the 2.3L engine. All models with air conditioning also contain a pollen filter and ambient (outside) temperature display in the center instrument panel. All 2.3L models add standard ABS and variable-intermittent front wipers. The new 2.3L “s Grand Touring” model (which replaces the successful 05MY Special Edition SP23) contains the SP23 features plus automatic climate control and a driving information system (trip computer) for around the same price as SP23 – a great value on a well-equipped car! There are two new exterior colors for 2.3L models: Copper Red Mica (replaces Lava Orange) and Whitewater Pearl Mica (replaces Rally White).

    Pricing for 2006

The 2006 pricing is based on 2005 models with pricing adjustments for equipment changes. Estimated pricing for major equipment changes includes ABS ($300 MSRP), SAB/SAC ($500 MSRP), 5AT ($950 MSRP), Bose Audio ($400 MSRP), Manual A/C ($880 MSRP), Automatic A/C ($100 MSRP), Driving Information System ($50 MSRP), and Whitewater Pearl Paint ($200 MSRP).

Build Combinations and Model Lineup for 2006

In addition to all these great new features, the really big news for 2006 MAZDA3 is a reduction in factory build combinations from 110 to 50 MSCs which will help all dealers with production ordering and inventory management. Here is a summary of the model lineup and MSC changes:

This MSC reduction is a direct result of dealer feedback regarding the need to streamline the MAZDA3 ordering and inventory process. The majority of the MSC reduction is a result of making previous 2005 model optional equipment (e.g., ABS, SAB/SAC, Xenon, TPMS) standard on certain 2006 models. Also, the Navigation System is now only available as an option on the “s Grand Touring” model, and Bose Audio is added to the Moonroof and 6-CD Changer option package on the “s Grand Touring” model.

    Feature Models for 2006

The 2006 MAZDA3 advertising will continue to feature the well-equipped MAZDA3 4-Door model in Titanium Gray Metallic and the well-equipped MAZDA3 5-Door model in Winning Blue Metallic. The featured price leader model will continue to be the entry-level MAZDA3 i 4-Door with manual transmission, air conditioning, and D&D charge with an estimated “Starting At” price of $15,140 MSRP which is $50 MSRP higher than the 05MY MSRP due to the addition of VVT on the 2.0L engine and pollen filter and outside temperature display on models with air conditioning.

Individual dealer ordering and sales history for 05MY should be used as the basis for 06MY ordering; however, please refer to the 2006 MAZDA3 Spec Decks and consider the following points when placing your orders:

    Ø 2.0L 4-Door “i” model

o The 15” alloy wheel option is no longer available.

o The ABS/SAB/SAC package is now available on entry-level 4-Door models with A/C. Please consider the increasing popularity of this option (over 50% take rate nationally for 05MY) and the expectation that key competitors will offer standard ABS/SAB/SAC for 06MY. The MAZDA3 ABS/SAB/SAC will be competitively priced for 06MY.

    Ø 2.0L 4-Door “i Touring” model

o The core 2.0L 4-Door “i Touring” model replaces the “Power Package with 16” alloys” and both the equipment level and pricing are similar to that of the 2005 model.

o Standard equipment: “i” model plus air conditioning with pollen filter and outside temperature display, power door locks/windows/mirrors, cruise control, keyless entry, driver’s seat tilt/height/lumbar, 16” alloy wheels, 205/55VR16 tires, front tweeter (2) speakers.

    Ø 2.3L 4-Door and 5-Door “s” models

o Carry-over 2005 model equipment plus pollen filter, outside temperature display, and variable-intermittent wipers. ABS is now standard equipment on all 2.3L models.

o Options include the all-new 5AT, the very popular Moonroof & 6-CD Changer package, and SAB/SAC package (on 4-Door model).

    Ø 2.3L 4-Door and 5-Door “s Touring” models

o Making key sport and safety equipment standard on the “s Touring” model and simultaneously limiting options results in a significant decrease in build combinations.

o Standard equipment: “s” model plus 17” alloy wheels and side sills (4-Door model) and standard SAB/SAC. Options include 5AT, Moonroof/6-CD package, and Leather Trimmed Seats.

    Ø 2.3L 4-Door and 5-Door “s Grand Touring” models

o Builds on the popularity of the well-equipped and highly popular SP23 (with black leather interior and eight available exterior colors) while reducing build complexity by offering only three options: 5AT, Moonroof/6-CD/Bose Audio package, and Navigation System.

o Standard equipment: “s Touring” plus leather trimmed seats, heated front seats, automatic climate control, driver info system, auto on/off headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Xenon HID headlights, tire pressure monitor system, security system, LED taillights (5-Door).

Wish we had waited until the '06's came out as the ABS standard would have been nice. The 5 speed automatic will probaly increase the gas mileage at least 2 mpg's I'd suspect. The price will probaly go up also to compensate for the new added features.
Still very happy with our 3 S. Even with the 4 speed auto, the shifts are pretty seamless that I hardly feel them. The numbers in the dash let me know when the gears have changed.

I was also very surprised that they would go under the pricing on the S-plan.
I thougtht the most I might get is the S-plan price, which was $18001plus tax, minus the Gerber rebate. I did not think they would even let me use the rebate with the S-plan.
I guess they can actually go lower than the S-plan in some situations.
I really shopped around before I got this price. Some places would not come close to this and that is why I came back on this site to ask if I got a good price. I figured that someone might have found a dealer that would give even a better price than I got, but I was safisfied with what I paid. I got my great deal from Suburban Mazda in Troy MI.
Even if some people think this car looks like a grocery getter or boring station wagon, this car is a blast to drive!

We got a great price from our dealer here in Coconut Creek Florida. I was charged the invoice price minus the $500. Mazda coupon plus their own free gas for 6 months coupon or $300. We feel that we were treated fairly and they even threw in some port installed options that we didn't want.
So far, great car. When should the mileage #'s increase, as they're pretty low right now. I've heard different opinions. Some say after the 1st oil change...other's say at about 5k mileage. Anybody really know the answer to this?

I have forgotten what the S-plan price was and I don't know how I came to $18001. The invoice price is $18007, maybe I confused it with this number. I do know though that in the end I got the a the car (hatch with ABS package, moon rooof package, and manual trans) for $17762 and that is with tax and the Gerber rebate.
I think the S-plan price without tax was $17439, and they gave me the car for $17150 before tax and the Gerber rebate.
Sandman, did you get a hatch or a sedan? Either way I am so happy I got this car instead of the Tc.

    where are you located?
i am looking at a m3si w/AT and power pkg.
    they are quoting $17,200
seems fair until i look at this site and others are getting thousands under invoice.
wondering if it is our lack of stock that they aren't willing to move.
are your quotes for sedan or hatch?
  • redcutredcut Member Posts: 2
Thanks for replying bunk1968. I think it makes sense now. The S-Plan price is indeed $17439 with the options you got. It seems that I was confused in that I thought the destination charge of $560 was added to the S-Plan price instead of being included in the S-Plan price. Very interesting!
  • bunk1968bunk1968 Member Posts: 119
I wish I could remember, but I think that the destination fee is ADDED to the S-plan price. I am having a hard time finding my print out of the S-plan pricing, but I am almost certain that at the bottom of my pricing list there was fine print that said the destination fee's were not included in the S-plan price. I am almost positive of this. I think you see why I was surprised at the price I got the car for.
I can not seem to find what site I found the S-plan pricing on or I would attach it for you here.

What does your handle in here mean? Did you also attend summer camp for years and years in the northeast like I did? Great times those 9 years I spent at the same summer camp.
We got a S sedan in Sunlight Silver and could'nt be happier. Hoping the gas mileage improves. But hey, we've got under 300 miles on it. We got the 4 speed manumatic tranny and wheel locks. Turns out there's an alarm on the car also. They put on the VIN etching in the windows and put a nice grey pin stripe on it. We ordered the silver door edge guards and they arrived at the dealership this afternoon.
Got it at invoice price minus $800. in coupons. No complaints there.

I did not get the Vin etched on my windows - but I did notice all of my windows (except the little rear ones) have the same set of number etched on them.

Could be some kind of production code - but it sure looks like someone went to some trouble to get all of the same numbers on my car.

Anyone know what these numbers are?

If that includes the $560 destination charge then the price is $173 above invoice. If the dealer doesn't have an insane doc fee then the price seems very good.

My 3 has your options plus leather & xenon and I paid $300 over invoice plus a $250 doc fee and I was happy with the price.

Hi there! Just bought a Mazda 3 hatchback with ABS/EBD + side airbags at Milam Mazda, Puyallup, WA (1 hour south of Seattle). The S-plan price was $17,200 + T&L, minus $500 college grad rebate, for a total of $18,500. If you're in the Seattle area, I highly recommend Milam Mazda. Great guys, they get down to business and they don't try to give you any BS.

I had a good dealership experience picking up my new RX-8 from Mazda Knoxville. I mentioned to my salesman that I "knew" some folks looking for deals on the 3. He said around invoice or a little under for the ones he has left. So if Knoxville, TN is within your travel radius I recommend you look them up and see if they have something you like.

I can't post the salesman's name or a link to the dealership, but if you Google Mazda Knoxville the link will come up - and the salesman is the Internet sales manager and his name is all over the web page.

BTW, they took my Gerber rebate but did require the original Gerber card.

    Good luck!

$500 College grad rebate? I thought that expired at the end of June...how'd you manage to get it at the beginning of July? Just curious if you somehow managed to get the grad rebate past the official deadline...

Got a mazda 3 5 speed with airbag/abs/ebd, moonroof and 6 cd package, xenon and tire pressure, rear bumper step plate, rear skirt diffuser, wheel arch moldings, cargo mat, wheel locks. MSRP 20645. Invoice 19144. Paid 19068+TTL.

Only 1 car (without waiting for unk time for delivery) in TX had 5 speed with airbag package. 1 car (confirmed with other dealers in further locations)! Probably could have had better pricing if I went for automatic which were plentiful.

That sounds like a good deal to me. I am in Dallas and finding a 5 speed in the color and options I want has been difficult. Which dealership in Houston did you buy from? Did you have to haggle much to get that price? No problem with the A/C?
I hear that the 2006 models are not here until October and the Gerber rebate I have expires at the end of July. Hmmm...price or selection seems to be the choice.

I bought a new Mazda3 S 6/30. Already run 680 miles.(drove out from dealer lot 9 miles.) . Great car. Happy to own it. My one is standard with Auto. Tran. and doesn't purchase any other option. Pay for $16,000 (after grad. and gerber refunds) before tax and fee. I am not sure it is a good deal. But I am O.K. on it. It took me 2 hours to finish all the deals & sign the paper with dealer in Punte Hill---Mazda.
