I even purchased a Consumer Reports new car price guide for $14.95 to make sure I was getting invoice and they matched it dollar for dollar with out having to make a big stink about it.
I, and several others (including many on another forum devoted to the Mazda3), had difficulty figuring out how to obtain the $500 rebate. It took quite awhile to find the obscure link (not on the Mazda site) where you request the certificate number from Mazda.
The Gerber site makes no mention whatsoever of the rebate. Thankfully a previous poster stated that you had to become a registered user of the Gerber site (which I did), and then send an E-mail, request the coupon, and wait a little over a week for them to mail the coupon.
Seems like Mazda and Gerber are operating a stealth rebate program, how is anyone supposed to know that it even exists?

The official rules from Mazda say that the Gerber rebate can be combined with any "public" offer, and I assume the Grad rebate counts as a public offer? Has anyone successfully used both of these rebates together for a total of $1000?
I want to buy a cheap Mazda3 i. The dealers wouldn't give me a price break. They asked for $14,927.
Here is a breakdown: The base price is $12,801. Automatic is $731+. A/C is $810+. All weather mats is $48+. Destination fee is $560+. Boston Assessment for advertisement is $250+. When these are added, it becomes $15200. With a 2% holdback ($273-). The total is dropped to $14,927.
The price seems too high for me for a very basic car, especially when there is no power window or remote control stuff.
Could anyone kindly tell me what should be a reasonable price and how I can negotiate the price down a little? I'd really appreciate it your input and experience!
-Clueless
If you think the Mazda3 is overpriced, I won't argue with you.... but, I don't think you'll get the Mazda dealer to sell it any cheaper..

After you submit a minimum of information, you'll receive an E-mail from Mazda in about three days containing a unique certificate number.
You'll need to bring the E-mail containing the certificate number, and the approx 5 x 8" coupon from Gerber, with you when you purchase the vehicle from dealer stock. The Gerber coupon can be obtained by registering at Gerber.com, then logging into the site and E-mailing a request for the coupon to them. You'll receive the Gerber coupon in a little over a week through the USPS.
The fine print on the coupon reads that "$500 Cash Back Bonus is a private offer and can only be combined with current public incentives."
Think they're discussing $500 cash back over on the BMW forum?
Shall I insist on MSRP price? Is there any place where I can get a Mazda3 i at a lower price?
I also wonder how much other people pay for their Mazda3 i.
-Clueless123
Absolutely. It may take a little arm twisting but I'm sure your salesman will come around.

Just kidding. The above was typed with extreme sarcasm. The MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested RETAIL Price) is what every dealer on the planet would love for you to insist on.
To clarify - the prices you indicated are the INVOICE prices. From the INVOICE prices you indicated, the dealer was then willing to subtract out the holdback of $273 for a final price of $14,927. To this price you would have to add tax/title/license (otherwise known as "TTL"). Are there any rebates the salesman is applying to get to this price?
To further clarify, the MSRP for this same vehicle, including the $250 advertising fee, would be $16,300. To this price you would also have to add the TTL.
The dealer told me $14,927 was the lowest price they could offer me for this vehicle. They only offered a holdback of $273, no other benefit at all. I just wonder if this price is too high or I could get a better deal elsewhere.
Yes, I am aware of my having to pay tax/title/license (otherwise known as "TTL") on top of $14,927.
Clueless
I was just curious about the price I paid!! I don't think that is a crime on this forum. If you don't like it don't read it and don't respond to it!
Thank you.
A dealer showed me an official(?) email from Mazda that Mazda is officially pulling out the Grad rebate $500 offer from July 4th !! No more grad rebate ever .....
You could have waited 45 days and paid the same price for a 2006 - or saved maybe $400 on a 2005.
But since you already have the car - not much anyone can do - so just drive it and be happy!
Maybe next time ask for advise BEFORE you make the decision.

I think it was Randal Reed or Jeff Haas - but I can't be 100% sure I was not paying that much attention until I heard $5,000 off. Also $7,000 off MSRP on all Mazda6.
This is the first time I have heard of this deep of a discount - but you never know if the deal is real until you actually see the contract.
I would think that the dealerships will want to start clearing out the 2005's - they don't want to have a lot of the old model in stock when the 2006 comes in.
Some of my favorites are $495 for window tint, $995 for "paint protection", and $687 for insurance+storage+preparation.
I was at a regional mazda meeting on wed and they told us to forget the leasing and AVP rate enhancements.
It's not that I don't trust shomik...it's just that I'm hoping he's mistaken
How does one find out what incentives the dealers are getting? We can always find the listed invoice price, but when it comes to dealers paybacks etc..is there a good source?
Thanks in advance..
KC
Another question: I'm comparing the i and S model--A fully loaded (I) model is around $1600 less then a (S) model..only big difference is in the engine..any suggestions? She is looking for Power Windows/Doors/Moonroof with the CD/Automatic/Air..etc..
Drive up to Middletown and hit Middletown Mazda. They'll likely give you the best deal around; pretty good guys there. Not that that's saying much...as it's been said, there really aren't enough 2005 Mazda3 models running around to last until the 2006 models arrive. So the prices will likely go up.
It's been difficult to find Mazda3 up here for a lot less than MSRP anyway. They sell like hotcakes, and have been since they come out. Basically, they're what Honda dealers think the Civic should be, only the Mazda dealers AREN'T hallucinating.
Bottom line: if you can get $600 off MSRP, you might be well advised to take it. And try not to get too picky about the color/options. If you insist on a particular color/option set, it's going to cost more (versus "Well, I didn't really want that color, but if you take a hundred or so off the price I might be willing to deal with it." )
Yes and yes. Choices of 2005s, however, will be limited so you'll need to be flexible.
incentives Check the Edmunds site for your model.
fully loaded (I) ... $1600 less then a (S) ...only big difference is in the engine
The smaller engine is more fuel efficient and likely will satisfy most commuters. On the other hand, since most vehicles seem to be growing in horsepower, if I were planning to keep the vehicle over 5 years I would be looking for a car that could keep up with the rest of the pack and would opt for the bigger engine. If you want to keep the price down: select the 16" versus 17" wheels as they are less expensive to replace and avoid dealer add-ons such as window tinting, extra warranty, etc.
You're wise to start your hunt now as you'll be well acquainted with how to dance with a dealer in the fall. If you have the time now, it's good to practice with a few partners to learn the moves. Keep us posted and best wishes.
It will no longer be a public incentive....it will be a private, invatation only incentive. Mazda will have a master list and there will be no way of "adding your name" if your not on the list......
So if you have any intention of using the $500 college grad rebate you must take delivery by 6/30/05.
Question: If I was to shop around October for the 2005 models, how many more can one expect to save compare to buying now?
Thanks in advance..
KC
I was still curious how I did after my purchase.
I love the car so far and that is what really matters.
I understand what you were saying about purchasing in June/July, but a Mazda 3 hatch with a manual trans and with the ABS and moon roof packages has been kind of hard to find in my area. This is especially so if you want a certain color. I live in a suburb of Detroit. Dealers are not over anxious to deal with you when they do not even have the car in stock and when the cars are moving so well.
I ALSO USED THE GERBER REBATE WHICH EXPIRES IN JULY.
I don't know how much of a price break I would get on a 2005 if I would have waited until Sept. or Oct. but I don't think it would be too much. I would not have been able to get the Gerver Rebate and I probably would not have been able to get the exact car I wanted or I would end up purchasing a car that had sat on a lot and had been test driven by every curious teenager in the neighborhood that wanted a stick shift.
All in all I got the car for $17,762 and that is with TTL (out the door). The MSRP on this car is $19355. I don't think I could have done much better than that in Sept. or Oct.
Oh, and don't forget that last year, from what I experienced, there were no great deals on the 2004's when the 2005's came out.
Like you said, it is time to just enjoy the car and THAT I AM DOING!!
Fun car!
Thanks.
I just bought a brand new 2005 Mazda3s Hatch - Lava Orange Mica
Thanks,

The Mazda certificate (obtained by filling out the online form at www.mazdausa.com/gerber) is only transferable within a single household. This means that it is NOT transferable to anyone outside of the original household.
In other words, if one person emails a Mazda certificate to another person, it won't be valid.
Ok, now didn't we all agree to stop posting about this in here?
Wish us luck, but I do think we'll have a Mazda3 s in the garage on thursday, June 30th!

(Don't have the Gerber rebate, but I think you can only use 1 of the rebates, either the Mazda or Gerber. Am I correct on this?)

audia8q replied: if your in the northeast you might save a little but the selection will be terrible. Based on the current sales rate, here in the northeast, we will be out of cars before the 2006's arrive in october.
You're right about the risk: in the fall the availability of the 2005 may be extremely low. Last year, when did your dealership sell out all your 2004 Mazda3s? Here in Ottawa, sales of the previous year's models seem to continue to the end of the year.
Since the 2005 models will be considered a year old, they should be subject to a year's worth of depreciation. You may want to ask dealers in your area what they are offering to sell last year's (2004) models for comparison; a 15% depreciation is not unusual in the first year. After that first hit, depreciation tends to level off but it's still shocking to see how fast our babies lose their value in the market.
Just got a call from the dealer. We need to go in tomorrow at 2 p m and see what's on his computer. He said he can get us a S model in the Titanium color...it just might not have all the options the wife wants. He said he might be able to dealer trade with the car she drove and loved yesterday. I would rather deal with him, as he's right across the street rather than drive the 15 miles my wife did. Want to do most service at the closer dealership and would like to purchase from them also, as they've been so nice to us over the last month. She thought she wanted the 6, but has now decided on the 3.

Heck, we have a detailer that will come to the office and clean our cars for $25-30 each and do a clean and wax for $60-80. That $600 would pay for a lot of his work with 0 sweat on my part :-)

Price on 2004 Mazda 3 was $1000 less than 2005 model.
Also, just requested the Gerber coupon.

As of today, Mazda3 production has been increased by 2,000 cars per month. This increase in supply might make it a little easier for us consumers to find exactly what we're looking for
Anyone know if this increase affects the 2005 models? Or are they making the 2006 models now?

You STILL have to go to the Gerber link and request the code number to be sent to you via e-mail. Each person gets a unique code - so don't bother asking for someone to post theirs.
