hi. i'm curious if anybody else has had to wait awhile to get a 5 door. i made a down payment on one last weekend with manual transmission and leather seats. so far the dealer has told me he can only find one without leather, or an automatic, or i can pay 2k extra for one with options i don't want (xenon, navigation and moonroof). one guy at the dealer even told me that there was a fire at the factory in japan and they aren't making any more until october (!). i got a pretty good deal (18k) so don't want to walk away from it.

on a similar topic. i know there have been problems with xenon headlights and theft on nissan and some other makes. does anybody know if mazda has the same problem?
  • npaladin2000npaladin2000 Member Posts: 593
No problem with theft. The thing with nissan was that EVERY one of that particular model had Xenons, so they were a guaranteed score. On the Mz3 they're optional, and oyu can't tell by looking whether or not it has them (unless it's nighttime and the car is on the road..hehe). So anyway, most thieves won't wnt to take the chance of wasting their time.

As far as that 2k extra for those options...you might want to grab it. You're getting $3500 worth of options for only $2000....though I'd try and talk them down to $1500...if they're offering that much of a discount, they may offer a little more just to keep the sale.

Anyone know when the 2006 model Mazda3 will hit the dealers lot?

I think the 2005's hit in August - so I would guess the 2006 model will too.
  • ezcompanyezcompany Member Posts: 28
I ended up paying 22 k -even-for everything the only thing I don't have is NAV.
    MSRP: $23,635
I think I got a good deal, there are hadly any Special Ed left, the dealer went 400 + miles to try to get this car. so I guess it was worth it.

I ordered a Mazda3 Special Edition from John Elway Mazda/Hyundai on 10450 N. Federal Blvd, Westminster, Colorado 80234 back in late February. Well, several weeks later they told me they couldn't get the car I ordered but they could get a 2006 special edition. A few days later they told me they couldn't get a 2006 Special Edition but they could get the 2005 I ordered. Then last week, they told me they couldn't get the 2005, but they would order a 2006 that is SIMILAR (whatever that means) to the 2005 SP23 and we would get everything worked out on Saturday....well today is Monday and they still haven't had "TIME" for me. You see, my salesman was very busy on Saturday with appointments. It amazes me that my order is a low priority after all the BS I've been through with Larry, Curly, and Mo at John Elway Mazda . I put a $500 deposit down on the car and just hope there won't be major hassles getting that back.

This is an Autonation dealership. So, I phoned Autonation's regional headquarters and I got absolutely no help what so ever. I will probably give up on purchasing a Mazda3 due to the bad experience I hava had and go look at a Subaru. But, I will definitely make certain I am not shopping at an Autonation dealership.

Anyway, beware of doing business with this Mickey-Mouse organization or any Autonation Dealership. But, if anyone has had a good experience in the Boulder area, please let me know. I really like the Mazda3 and maybe there is a decent dealership nearby.

    thanks.

I think there are about 6 or 7 Mazda dealers in the Denver area.

    hello richml, everyone,

We're looking to buy a Mazda3 this weekend (before end of quarter). And, lucky me, I just found this forum!

I have registered at www.gerber.com. However, I don't think there will be time to get the coupon. Can someone send a copy our way as well?

Unfortunately, my wife is still a year from graduation... or we'd go that route.

    Thank you!

Im also planning to purchase this weekend, and would GREATLY appreciate it if someone could forward me a copy of the ad as well.

    Thanks in advance!

    p_h_i_l and jim77,

I can forward you the scanned image of the Gerber coupon if you put your E-mail address in your forum profile.

Besides the Gerber coupon, you also need an E-mail from MazdaUSA with a unique certificate number. That took me about three days to receive.
  • p_h_i_lp_h_i_l Member Posts: 4
    richml,

    My e-mail is available now.
I'm hoping that, if we get this sent off today, we'll get the cert# by the weekend.
    Thank you!!!

Hi Rich, If you find some time, could you e-mail me the gerber coupon for mazda...Thanks ....johnfrank@verizon.net
  • richmlrichml Member Posts: 156
I just sent you two E-mails with the scanned images of the front and reverse of the Gerber coupon.
You'll present the coupon to the dealer, along with the E-mail containing the certificate number that you have to request from MazdaUSA.

we really don't want to simply become a clearinghouse for e-mail exchange here, and we'd prefer to have most information shared in the Forums so that all of our members can benefit. Thanks, and keep letting us know what deals you're getting!

I traded my 2000 Protege ES for a Velocity Red 2005 Mazda3 hatch on April 7. Two weeks ago I received a coupon from Mazda for FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS OFF ANY NEW MAZDA!!! This brought on a series of emotions ...

    :surprise:

I know the feeling. I received a $500 Mazda rebate a couple of months ago, let it expire, then immediately had a $600 repair job on my old car.

    Sheeeesh!!!!

I am going to purchase a Titanium Mz3 hatchback with a manual trans and with ABS package and Moonroof Package.
They gave me a price of $17150 with the S-Plan. With tax and plate transfer it came to $18262.
    IS THIS A GOOD DEAL????
** I got an extra $500 off of this price with the Gerber rebate. Thanks again to whoever first introduced us to that rebate!!
I AM VERY CURIOUS TO KNOW IF I GOT A GOOD DEAL BESIDES THE GERBER REBATE??????!!!
    Thanks!
Oh, and if anyone wants to add their opinion, which is a better color to own, Titanium or Black?

    What is the MSRP?

I personally think the gray is much easier to take care of, compared to black..

    MSRP is $19355.
I heard black is horrible to keep clean. I just wonder which looks better. I change my mind evertime I see them.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,279
That looks like a great price...

I might not be the the best person to ask about the color... As, the Titanium Gray is my favorite...

I thought that price was exceptional, but just wanted to make sure.
Oh, I forgot to mention that price is with the S-Plan.

Saw news today that Ford cut its earnings forecast for the rest of the year, cutting more jobs plus bonuses to salaried workers, and won't match 401-k contributions. About the only perk left to salaried workers is the S-plan discount. Maybe Ford will be forced to give that to customers a-la GM? Then we all might be able to get a deal on the MZ3 we have been lusting after?

    One can only hope.

i gave up on original dealer and went up to the bronx and got a special edition, with safety package for 19.7k. invoice for the base model with all the options the dealer in manhattan tried to sell me is 21.5k, and the original deal was for about 250 above invoice, so i would have ended up spending almost an extra 4k. instead i got the same options i wanted, plus heated seats and a better stereo for a price in the middle. still not sure what i think about the brown leather, though.

anyways, i went to the gerber site, but didn't see where to get the coupon. can someone post a link or email me a copy in case i can get the rebate retroactively?

    i'm being offered a 2005 madza3 s type hatchback with
abs package, moonroof package, auto trans, and wheel locks
in titanium grey for $18,135 freight included.
is this a good deal ??
  • smariasmaria Member Posts: 279
Sounds great to me, especially if it's before any rebates (like the Gerber rebate).

I guess it all depends on your location. I'm in NJ, and I got a quote for the same exact car for $19300, ~$1200 higher than your quote!

Gee, lots of people in here are getting better deals than I think I ever will. I almost expect that someday, someone's going to come in here and ask "the dealer offered to give me the car for free...is that a good deal?" ;)
  • dridedride Member Posts: 139
    Hello,

I am considering a M3 manual with moonroof/6cd package for $17,400. Does that sound decent for the Midwest? It is way below MSRP ($18,555), and almost below what Edmunds says invoice should be...but these people need to be making money somehow, so I wonder what their margin really is. I can't believe ABS isn't standard. It should be, and not an $800.00 option. Gerber emailed me saying they were mailing me the ad. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of turnaround? That rebate is AWESOME btw! Nice to see people helping people. :)
  • richmlrichml Member Posts: 156
It took a little over a week for me to receive the Gerber coupon in the mail.
  • dridedride Member Posts: 139

Well, Gerber sure is getting a lot of advertising value for their $500 rebates!
  • p_h_i_lp_h_i_l Member Posts: 4
I guess this qualifies as part of the buying experience. I have a fax from darcars (MD) with prices. But, there's a big "binding arbitration" agreement at the bottom.

Has anyone had an experience with getting these guys to take that out? Or, a similar experience? I hear that the 'binding' part is what gets you... no legal rights at all after that.

    Thanks for the info/advice!

I read somewhere on one of the Edmunds forums ( I believe it was the RX330 topic) that the people negotiated a price, drove quite a distance to Md. to get it, and when thay got there they found out about "additional" charges, so they simply got up and left withoput the RX.
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
A binding arbitration agreement can cut both ways - if the arbitrator is INDEPENDENT and FAIR then it can actually HELP you.

What would it take before you would go get a lawyer and sue the dealership?

Understand that unless the problem is very large you will most likely pay more in legal costs then you would recover - even if you win you still don't come out ahead. Before someone claims that if you win you can get your legal costs added to the recovery - that really does not happen very often IN THE REAL WORLD. Not saying it can't happen - it does - but I wouldn't bank on it.

But if you don't want it - just say NO - it is a deal breaker. It does kind of make me think that maybe they were getting sued so much that they put this in the contract so they could save some legal fees.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,279
...that a lot of dealerships have this on their contracts.. Maybe more than 50%..

And, for the ones that have it.... it won't be negotiable.. You either sign it, or they won't sell you a car...

    regards,
    kyfdx

I don't know how I could send you the rebate?
I do not have a scanned copy of it and the dealer kept my copy?
I would gladly help you if I could.
I followed the instructions of the first person that mentioned the rebate on this site.
I went to the Gerber site, signed up on the site, and then told them that I had lost my rebate and would like another (or something like that).
I then went to the Mazda site and entered my info for the Gerber rebate.
Mazda sent me certification via email in about two or three days. Gerber sent me the rebate which took about a week to get to me.
    I hope this helps some.
** I still would like to know if I got a good deal for my car if anyone can tell me. I purchased a Mazda 3 hatch with a manual trans, ABS package and moon roof package for $17150. With TTL it came to $18262.
    Is this a good deal??
I used the Gerber rebate for an extr $500 off of this price, but I want to know if this price was good without the Gerber rebate??
  • Kirstie_HKirstie_H Administrator Posts: 11,242
Apart from that, this is likely a promotional campaign in conjunction with Gerber. By asking others to e-mail the coupon available through the Gerber website, you are depriving Gerber.com and Mazda.com of the web traffic they deserve, and you're keeping them from tracking the number of requests vs. the number of redemptions.

Let's please not have any more posts requesting that other members send the certificate by e-mail.

Considering the MSRP of a base Mazda3 hatch (without ABS & moonroof) is $17,665 (before TTL), I think it's safe to say you got an excellent deal.

The best time to ask - or check - is this a good deal - would be BEFORE you buy the car.
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
But oh, how I love these buyer's remorse questions!

Hmmm ... we should start telling people things like ...

Well, that's a great deal! Tell me, was that the amount you paid before you applied the Mazda $3,000 Instant Cash For All Buyers Rebate and the $900 Pampers Zoomin' & Poopin' Coupon?
