Went to a dealer yesterday to get lease numbers on a 2016 Genesis 3.8L AWD with Ultimate Package. Parisian Gray and Ivory/Ivory interior. Loaded except for mud flaps.
MSRP: $53,285 Dealer sale price: $49,986 Lease Cash: $3,500 Competitive buyer: $1,000 Selling price: $45,486 Money Factor: .00067 Residual Value: 57% (36 months/12K) Offer: $550/mo (Includes acquisition fee, tag/title/registration, doc fee & sales tax) Drive off: $800 - First month's payment and cap reduction tax (tax on rebates)
After pouring through all the posts in this forum I have determined that this offer is a bit on the high side but in the salesman's defense he did say these were general numbers as they were just giving me a "ball park" figure and the actual numbers would be based on the credit report results. As a reult I have reached a few conclusions after reading the posts in this forum.
1. A FICO score of 725 or better should qualify me for the HMFC minimum MF. My most recent credit score number (6/28) according to my LifeLock account is Equifax at 719. I have two older scores (5/28) of 691 & 741 from Experian and TansUnion respectively. My historical score from Equifax going back to July of last year shows a high of 733 to the current 719 due to a couple of recent credit pulls over the last 2 months at Best Buy and a local furniture store.
2. It appears that the typical MF being offered for AWD Ultimates is .00035 and I seem to remember a post saying this is the lowest although I have seen lower factors posted for other trim packages.
In summary it seems that I am knocking on the door of being able to qualify for Hyundai’s minimum MF so I have a few questions. One, is the .00035 MF the lowest factor offered by Hyundai for a 2016 Genesis 3.8L AWD with Ultimate Package or is a lower MF available in Tennessee, depending on credit rating. Second, assuming my credit report would qualify me for a lower MF such as the .00035 shouldn’t this give me some negotiating power to get the monthly payment lowered. Third, if I can get the MF lowered does this seem to be a good deal? The selling price of $45,486 does reflect a 14.6% mark down from MSRP however when I run the Lease Hacker calculator based on the parameters at the top of my post which shows the higher MF of .00067 the monthly payment including tax comes out to $521 which is $29 lower than the quoted $550. At any rate I would be extremely appreciative if some of the lease experts on this forum would take a look at these numbers and let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for any advice. This is an awesome forum ;-)

The 36/12 numbers for the Genesis AWD are .00027 and 56%, with $3750 lease cash. You may be looking at some old information.
These numbers are national and are not dependent on packages or options, and require a 700+ credit score to qualify. I don't know what bureau HFS uses to determine the score.
The dealer can mark up the MF by as much as .00040 for extra profit - gee, that looks awful familiar, doesn't it?
You also have to account for the bank fee of $595, and a dealer fee (if any), in your calculations. Either pay it up front or add it into the selling price.
Get the dealer to give you the adjusted cap cost (selling price plus any taxes and fees you aren't paying up front) and we can calculate a payment.
Yes, that is a nice discount from sticker. Genesis' are leasing well at the moment.
Michaell, thanks so much for your input. After letting your comments sink in it does seem that the dealer's offer is in line with the Lease Hackr calculation of $521/mo if I subtract it from the higher dealer quoted $550/mo which leaves $29/mo. If I then multiply that difference by 36 the resulting $1,044 seems to be a reasonable amount for bank fees, tag/title/registration and dealer fees (acquisition & doc). Both the Lease Hackr calculation of $519/mo and the dealer quoted $550/mo includes $34/mo for Tennessee sales tax so that is apples to apples. Bottom line I am pretty satisfied with the derivation of the dealer's numbers except for asking about their using $3,500 for the lease cash rather than the $3,750 that you provided and of course their mark up resulting from using a .00067 MF rather than the .00027 as you indicated but again since they hadn't pulled my credit score which will be over the 700+ threshold to qualify for the .00027 MF I don't anticipate any issues with that but if they resist I can always play my trump card by asking the salesman and sales manager wouldn't you prefer to work this out between the three of us rather than having me talk to Mitch (the owner of the dealership) as I have a personal relationship with him ;-) Again thanks for your help and I will report back after discussing these two items with the salesman tomorrow. Cheers

Always nice to have a relationship with the dealer principal in your back pocket during negotiations.
Unlikely that there will be much deception from the salesman and manager.

I get $397/mo plus tax with those numbers.
Confirm the adjusted cap number; that's really the only variable in the calculations.
It's also possible that some of the rebate monies are being used to cover the up front fees ...
$397 plus tax is a crazy cheap lease price for a $53K MSRP car. Just remember that you'll be paying car taxes to your municipality (I live in Stamford) on a $50K vehicle.

I'd contest that the Genesis is "compact" - if I'm not mistaken, it's the size of a 5-series or E-class.

Oh, I mean I was looking at 3-series and C300 which would have been the same price. I definitely got a bigger vehicle class for the same money
Any idea when Hyundai might roll out their numbers for August? Seems some of the dealers around me still have quite a few 2016s on the lot and the 2017 G80s are supposed to hit showrooms this fall. Our lease on our Infiniti is up in September and the current Infiniti deals are awful so I might jump ship to the Genesis.

I don't have information on Hyundai's over mileage charges.

I'm happy with my purchase even though I probably didn't get every cent out of them. This car far exceeds my expectations and is better than any entry level compact luxury sedan in the same price range. Here are the numbers for confirmation I didn't screw up my first lease.
3.8 AWD Signature + Tech
36 months / 15K (purchased an extra 3k total for .15 a mile)
MSRP: 49845
Selling Price: 45500
Residual: 54%
MF: .00027
Rebates: 6750 (3750 lease cash + 1000 competitive + 2000 coupons) taxed at 6.35%
Cap Cost (rolled in fees below): 41041
Acquisition: 595
DMV: 185
Doc: 599
Prep: 93.75
Taxes: 1328.44
Rolled all of my fees into my monthly because of the low interest, monthly payment with taxes (6.35%) is $435. Got them to give me another $99 in cash to pay for the blue link remote start for a full year.
How'd I do?
I'd contest that the Genesis is "compact" - if I'm not mistaken, it's the size of a 5-series or E-class.
Still, a lot of car for the money. Go enjoy!

By the way, I couldn't close a deal in July so decided to wait for August numbers. Any idea when you might get those for my previous request?
August numbers on AWD - .00027 and 56% for 36/12. Subtract 2% for 15K. $3750 lease cash.
Hmmm, apparently there is no change from last month.
