    Spotted in downtown Brisbane:
Chrysler Crossfire, in some greyish colour.
Lamborghini Gallardo, pulling out of an Audi dealership
And another Lamborghini Gallardo, in black, nearby.

I saw my first new '06 Honda Civic...

A coupe.. Very, very nice... Probably the only new car under $20K that I would consider, besides the Mazda3...

Today in the drizzle at boring Factoria Mall I spotted a doozie - DB9:

I saw my first one at a local car show. The Pontiac dealer brought it and several other cars. It was a loaner from GM as they sold this years allotment of one already.

Thats one car for under $20k I would consider. If I could find one.

The fact that got got an XKR in pic 3 to go along with the DB makes the pics that much cooler! Rolling work of art IMO. I was lucky enough to hear one launch from a stoplight in front of Buckingham Palace in London this summer.

...whether or not this should be here or in the "spotted an obscure car" topic:

Spotted a new Infiniti Q45 last night.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
I think they sold a total of about 10 of those this year so it probably is a spectacle to actually see one on the roads...
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,411
I still have yet to see a Solstice or Sky. But the auto show here is coming in a few weeks.

That was an XKR, I thought it was odd they were parked together, but at the same time, didn't seem to be connected - the Jag had plates etc. A friend of mine couldn't believe the pics, a brand new unplated DB9, in black, out in the rain!

I see more Bentleys than I do new Q45s

Sad to see that car out in the rain, I agree.

Nice DB9, I've seen about three but no volantes. Ever been to exoticspotter.com?
    you should post those
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,411
Never been there, I'll have to check it out
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Had a redesigned Malibu behind me the other day. The revised front end is much more palatible than before...

Saw a couple of Tribecas as well...
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I spent about 4 days in CT, a Subaru strong-hold (they have 7% market share vs. just 0.5% in the snow belt), and oddly enough I did not see a single one.

Sales pace is OK, I guess it might just be selling in non-traditional markets. I see them in the DC area all the time.

Saw a black Rolls Phantom parked in front of a house, and I also saw that familiar Aston Martin DB9 at my dentist's office.

Also today a black, then white Toyota Avalons. And two yellow Mustangs.

Sonatas are getting popular, must have seen at least 3.

And Uplanders! I must have seen around 10 today!

Today I saw my first Audi A3. I'm suprised I haven't seen them before, they have been out for a while haven't they?

Also, I saw 2 new Civics. One was a silver 4 door and the other was a black 2 door. Both looked nice although I was only able to see them from the side and rear. The new Civic sedan looks much better than the previous one. It was something about the old one that I just didn't like.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,669
Jcat, I have yet to see an A3, even went by an Audi dealer just to see.

Today while on the highway, I spotted the most amazing vehicle. I passed by a car carrier, and it had on it a silver Mercedes SLR. That car looks soooo amazing, such a sleek design. Not everyday that you spot a $450,000 car. This is the probably the most expensive production car that I have ever seen.

And also saw my first Dodge Magnum from a distance today, in red. Looks great.

I'm not fond of the angular styling... It wasn't helped by a terrible looking lip spoiler at the edge of the rear decklid.. Cobalt style... yuck..

You read that right, it had diplomatic plates on it, definitely a Nissan Primera, station wagon too. Not new but interesting enough that I thought I'd share.

Saw a Cobalt coupe yesterday. They aren't as common as the sedans.

I live in Connecticut and I agree with you there. I have only seen one and that was a few months back. Haven't seen a single one since.

Maybe they sell better in Vermont where it seems every other car is a Subaru!
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
First I'm starting to see more of the new Benz R Class van/wagon/cruiser things. Nice looking actually.

The Benz B Class are starting to get common as well.

Walked over to the Lexus dealer and looked at the new IS350. Much much better looking than in the pictures. Makes the TSX looks plain in comparison.

Also spotted the new Toyota Yaris 4 door hatch. Not a bad looking econobox, will have to see it upclose soon.

So just a few thoughts on the GS lexus as I passed one closely this morning. It is growing on me a lot. I think while it isn't over all the most gracefully executed shape certain details are fantastic, particularly the front end. It is difficult with swooping cars to get the ends right and the rear isn't as beautiful (The CLS has this issue with both of it's ends IMO). It is a great looking car though. I used to work promoting beemers and I have driven nearly every lexus model so I am very set in my opinions that Lexus makes nice but ridiculously boring cars. However I want to try this one out.

    Also spotted another W12 audi
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I just was following a GS. I liked the first generation, and the current car. I really did not like the generation inbetween.

Guigiaro did the first one. The 2nd one was done at CALTY, not sure of the designer for the new one.

I saw Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on I-88 tonight sitting in construction zone traffic. Realy long looking car on the road. First time I'd seen one in the wild.

Solstice, out on the road with a temp tag. Looked sharp, but the top seemed to be ill fitting (the angles looked wrong), more like a Viper than a Miata.

And I know it is supposed to be down, but it is pouring rain today, so I will cut the owner some slack.

I have seen these in a showroom near my office and I have to say I don't ecstaticly love it. This could be excused for a lesser vehicle but this is a Ferrari Grand tourer. Every angle and view should be stunning by rights like the 550/575s, the 456 it replaced and so on back in history. It's still really cool and does look better in darker colors but it just doesn't do it for me. Honestly if one had the quarter million or so for one of these wouldn't you rather have something dripping sex appeal like a vanquish or a Murcielago? I realize that these are in slightly different categories but since the back seats are all but vestigial anyway we can consider them competitors. I don't particularly care for the Giugaro show car based on it either. Bit of a disapointment really although the spy shots of the upcoming 600 that share the design DNA are much more encouraging Especially the possible engine cover glass showing off the cylinder heads like the Peugot concept from a year ago. Love that

There are already 2 brand new Accords in the garage at work. An LX 4cyl and an LX-SE 4 cyl, both autos. New because they have the new taillight design.

I've seen two new Civic coupes and one new sedan.

That was quick. That's about the same number of Freestyles I've seen, and they've been out for more than a year.

I saw a new 2006 Accord coupe V-6 last Saturday. It looked better with the more angular/aggressive rear end (taillamps especially). It looks nice! It was silver, btw.
  • merc1merc1 Member Posts: 6,081
I think its the long proportions that kill the design for me. That and the just the overall plainess of the design. Yes I'd rather have a Vanquish or Murcielago for sure, much more eye-catching designs. I'm a little worried about the upcoming 600 Imola because it will most likely look something like the 612 Scag, but the saving grace is that it won't be a long as the 612. I read somewhere that the response to the 612 was not the usual sold-out reaction new Ferraris normally get.

Today I saw a beige Audi A8 W12. It was simply stunning. The leather was like red, and the wood was dark colored and it gleamed. It's the first one that I've seen, and a very rare car indeed.

Also spotted a silver Porsche Boxster and a red Porsche Carrera 4S.

...I saw a Lincoln Zephyr this past weekend. The rear end is particularly ugly, with big rectangular taillights with the backup lights in their centers. I don't think the charcoal gray color of the one I saw helped either.

I thought it was a bad idea in the first place to use the Mazda6 platform as a basis for a Lincoln; now I know it is.

Does anyone remember the Lincoln Versailles?

3 new Civic Sedans. I don;t really like the way they look either. I saw a Civic Coupe parked in a lot at one of my local Honda dealers. Then again the Civic sedan;d have always been more plain looking vs the coupe model Civic's 96 model years and up. Maybe the exterior design it has too grow on me with the coupe model Civic..

Seen several Mitsubishi Eclipse..and they look better than the 00-05 Eclipse's especially the back of it.

Seen a few new VW Passats...I doesn;t look as sleek as the 02-05 models.

Saw a refreshed 06 PT Cruiser yesterday.

Seen one 06 Miata. It looks like the designers went for a more exotic sports car look on the front end vs a more reserved/classy front end on the 99-05 Miata's.

Seen a few 06 Honda Accord's: It looks better than the 03-05 but the front end still doesn't match the back end.

    My point, precisely!

A latter-day Caddy Cimarron (or Catera, for that matter).
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Hey, I can call it a Miata if Mazda's marketing dept still does.

It was dark red with a red top. Looked good.

The headlights hint back at the Ibuki concept from a couple of years ago. The power bulge from the NA models is back, too. I like it.

I gotta go test drive one...

saw one at the dealer, but didn't sit in it. Does look much nicer in/out than the prior generation. Hey, I might even fit in it now (and I owned a 2001)

I'm still looking for a new Zephyr, as the local Lincoln Mercury hasn't received one. Like you, I don't think basing a Lincoln - even a junior model - on a relatively small, front-wheel-drive platform is a good idea.

I've also seen the new Fusion, and it is very handsome. The car has a nice, aggressive stance to it. It's just what Ford needs.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw another one today. Coupe still looks much better to me than the sedan IMO.

I saw an "STS4" yesterday, which must be a higher line AWD car. Shiny black, not bad looking. But it was driven by a 200 year old, and it had redline tires and chrome wheels.

Are redline tires back?! Cool, I had 'em on my '66 TR-4A. :P

    I've seen the following.

    Silver Grand Cherokee
    Light Blue 360 Modena
    Beige Avalon
    Turquoise Sonata
    Black A4
Several Lexus GS300s and GS430s in black, silver, white, beige, blue, red.

I'm not too fond of the A4's tailligts design.

Saw one too, on Friday at lunch. I love the sound that V8 makes, even at idle. Sounds like a lion roaring. Sooo sweet.

There was one parked in front of the building where I work, with a red carpet leading into the building. Apparently, it was there for a retirement party for a big shot in one of the companies my company recently acquired.

Prepare to be sick: he's 28.
