Two Cadillac Lyric (Lyrii?); first in NYC by Holland Tunnel entrance, second in Delaware, Fenwick Island. Smaller than I had envisioned, quite handsome, both black.

I saw 7 of the Lyric models a couple months ago. They were all in one place. They were on a car carrier heading north through Montgomery County on I75. I wasn't impressed.
This one is for uplanderguy. Saw a Coffee colored C8 yesterday. It's a good color for the car. Doesn't hide the styling like Black. It was kind of a lighter Alloy color of my 07 Fusion.

Taking my daughter's dog for a walk today, saw the Rivian again. It's definitely green and was blocked in by 3 cars this time. The house has a 2 car garage but the Riv seems to sit outside. BTW it's an R1S.

Wife was out for a walk and saw one of these a couple streets away.
I didn’t know anything about them. Looked them up online, definitely marketed to a niche market. Not anything I'd want but glad they are available for those where these fill the purpose.

Saw a new Cadillac Lyriq on the road today. A bit big for me and too expensive (starts at $75K in worthless Canadian dollars). I don’t mind the front end but the rear quarter and rear end looks awkward to me.
The new Trax seems to be a big improvement over the old one in terms of size, style and overall design. I am slightly concerned with the 3-cylinder turbo engine. It also has a 6-speed automatic, surprising as most of those entry-level vehicles have the hated CVT.
When my son was shopping a few years back, he liked the Encore GX which was the Trailblazer all with 3 cylinder 1.2 L turbo engines. I told him to run, run away. The 1.4 L in the Encore and Traxx was weak enough.
These don't offer an optional larger engine. Maybe GM will try to push out the 2 cylinder engines someday soon, while they push out their all electric options.
But if you want a pickup truck, GM has all the quality engine sizes and transmission combos to suit, Chev, GMC. But all these little cars have to have toy engines if they are still on gasoline power.
Not for me. My son chose a 2.5 L hybrid Toyota model, no turbo, after I pointed out to him what I felt were the problems with the turbos compared to NA.
That's what GM will have the small sedan gas powered vehicles being in order to meet some ridiculour 50 mpg standard, which the trucks and large vehicle folks are gas guzzling away. When they start shuffling the congress who made these ridiculour gas mileage standards around in Traxx and Encores instead of Suburbans and Tahoes, etc., I'll believe they're serious. Otherwise it's all a smoke screen.

I have two 2.0 litre turbos. One has 220 hp, and the other has 248 hp.. No issues with that 1.2 litre turbo.

The Taos I rented in LA last week has a 1.5L turbo with, I think, 156HP. Perfectly adequate for LA traffic.
My 2016 Jetta had a 1.4L turbo with just under 150HP. At altitude here in Colorado, quite fun when the boost kicks in.
In traffic today I saw something I didn't recognize but don't have much data - another small-medium dumpling CUV with an upkick at the C-pillar. Whatever it was, I couldn't instantly ID it, but I only saw it for a second. Ideas?

Buick Envista?
That's the one strongly influenced by the Urus I see - I don't think it was that, I don't recall the big black plastic piece near the C-pillar. Same shape though so could have been. If so, my first sighting.
Saw a BMW iX - not a new release, but those aren't a seller in this part of the world, so it counts (most new sightings seem to be unremarkable angrydad trucks and potato CUVs/oversized SUVs). I am sure the iX is comfortable, but it is weird.
Pulling into the sales office of our humble, yet ever-growing development, a white Bentley Bentayga with NJ plates. First thought, how bad is it in NJ if they're considering moving to MA!

I actually like the way the Lyriq looks. Unfortunately, reviews I've read comment on GM's poor build quality (e.g. uneven panel gaps; electric charging door malfunctions). But, for once, a GM is reviewed as a quality interior!

Also, my neighbor across the street just bought a new Land Rover Defender. Want.

Does look nice. And 162 lb/ft out of the 1.2l. Crazy.
I would not expect it to last but on a lease, won’t matter!
