I saw a Toyota Crown, charcoal gray with black accents on the doors. I did not find it remotely attractive.

I've heard of a few Crowns in the National fleet, have yet to see one on the road. I would take one from the aisle anyway.

Visited the local MB dealer for the switch to snow tires this morning (should result in warm weather for a few weeks), saw a few newbies. 23 E450 All Terrain, moderately loaded (leather, soft close, HUD among others), 87K MSRP. Inside it is a lot like my car, with a few trim difference - absence of an analog clock was irksome somehow. SL55 at something like 155K, GLS ~100K, GLE53 ~100K IIRC, fairly loaded EQB seems steep at 72K. The oddball was one I sat in, EQS580 sedan demo - a 23 with 5K miles on it, they were offering a mere ~10K off MSRP. Going to be a hard sell in Spokane. It had what will probably be a relatively rare option, the super-sized dashboard-width screen. Original MSRP was 129K. It's a really big car inside, feels big when sitting in it. They are the regional Sprinter distributor, so had a ton of those and Metris hanging around in every configuration imaginable - a Metris pop top camper and a Sprinter ambulance caught my eye as unusual.

In Austin, Tx for a few days, saw a Fisker Ocean drive by; first one I've seen in the wild. Matte gray finish, perhaps a wrap? Nice enough looking, but just another SUV.
    Also saw a Rivian SUV.

'21 Dark Blue/Black Audi A7 PHEV (mine); '22 White/Beige BMW X3 (hers); '20 Estoril Blue/Oyster BMW M240xi 'Vert (Ours, read: hers in 'vert weather; mine during Nor'easters...)

good chance no. I doubt I see more than 1 Veloster per year at this point, regardless of model.

I rode with @breld when he test drove one of these a year or so ago. Fun ride, but a bit funky looking.

I see Toyota promoted their grill designer and upped his acid allowance. Woof.

But all hybrid makes sense. That was the best drivetrain anyway.

2024 will be the last of the V6 and non-hybrid Camrys. Better get them fast! I wonder if the V6 Camry will be offered for 2024.

I am surprised any were selling anymore. V6 Accord has been gone for some time right? V6 in a FWD midsize sedan is almost redundant with modern 4s, which can be close to the power of a V6, which just a little less refinement, and much less in the way of running costs.

What V6 FWD exist anymore? Is the ES still in it? Maybe an Acura?

Saw a Grand Highlander and a gussied up new Sequoia - looks like Toyota is going for the German "same sausage, different lengths" styling ethos.

And on an amusing note, spotted a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. In Spokane. Pulled over by a cop in a Safeway parking lot. Quite an unusual thing to see here.

Saw a new style Range Rover, and not brand new anymore but they still make an impression, a Rivian (pickup, have yet to see a SUV here).

Saw a Toyota Crown this morning, maybe the 2nd I have seen on the road. It's different in that Toyota way.

I drove something new on Christmas Eve - 2024 Lexus NX 450h+ . My cousin got new car - not a chronic buyer, just the opposite - her owned from new 2004 Xterra was claimed by a drunk driver, and this is the replacement. My cousin in law insisted I take it for a drive, so I couldn't say no. After I recovered from hearing about its price (I want to say 64K), I got behind the wheel. Soft leather is something Lexus does well, perfect assembly quality, and the ICE seems up to date, something not always seen on a Toyota product. It was amusing driving it around town in EV mode, apparently they will use it as a commuter where the gas engine will seldom be used due t0 having sufficient range for the drive They didn't want to commit to a full EV, with range anxiety and possible tech advancements making current models obsolete, as they keep cars for a long time (other car is a 2012 (?) Durango bought new, will probably drive it til it croaks). I am sure it will serve them well.

Stopped in University Place (north Tacoma) to drop off my mom at my sister's place on my way back to Seatac - saw a new unplated S7, the bigger stronger brother to my A5 rental. Also not a brand new model but noteworthy, saw a LC500 cabrio in the same area, along with Rivian pickup and SUV.

My niece's husband has an S7. Had an A7, before that. He was pretty interested in an RS7, until he saw the price.

By far, the most popular vehicle on the island of Hawaii is the Tacoma.
Lots of Stellantis rentals(Wranglers, Chargers, Pacifica's). 4Runner's pretty popular too.
Also, saw more current gen Camaro's in one day, mostly convertibles, than I've seen in total, both islands.

I wonder how many of those are rentals or ex-rentals as all of those are known entities in fleets.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336

Probably easier and cheaper to sell them on the island than to ship them back to the mainland

Before this he only owned GMC's.
He did a 2 for one trade. GMC and Harley for the Ford(and a loan I'm sure).

I hope that trailer isn't too loaded down, I'd think it would be easy to exceed the towing capacity.
  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 20,723
A 5x8 U Haul trailer is rated for 3K. The one in the pic looks pretty similar. Mavericks can tow up to 4K with towing package.

GR Corolla. My first sighting. Naturally, this one was pulled over on the freeway by a state trooper. 😂

It looks a LOT like a Wagoneer. Spotted it in a parking lot, as we were walking to the restaurant, last night. From the profile, I just assumed it was. Then, I saw the front end.

Good double sighting today. First a blue Kia EV9 - looks like a box but the shade of blue was nice.

Than a matte blue Fisker Ocean. I didn’t realize these were being delivered yet, but it looked pretty smart. X3 size…

A friend of a friend has a Fisker. It bricked, and sat in his garage for over a month while various technicians looked it over, and threw up their hands. He’s currently driving a 2016
leaf, and even with the diminished range, it at least works.

Saw a new Rivian pull into the Frisch's last evening. They parked on the empty side of the restaurant where no other cars were parked. I wondered why? Then when I left I saw it had temporary Ohio paper license on the rear. Those things are huge: Suburban size?

I think the Wagoneer is a good comparison, but they may not be as wide as them, either. But, they sure look like them from three of the four sides

R1S is almost identical in length to a Honda Pilot. Definitely shorter than a Tahoe or Wagoneer…

watched a review on YT (the TFL trucks channel) on the new Tacoma. They bought one in Houston, drove it to Dallas to pick up a trailer, then back to Colorado. Overall seemed like a real nice upgrade to the dinosaur prior model.

And for people interested in mileage (and range!), they got about 24 MPG highway with just the truck. And complained about range with a 17 gallon gas tank. With the trailer hooked up (about 3K pounds, a fancy expedition mini travel job) it dropped to about 12 MPG . so stopping every 170 miles, max, or so.
