A few more finds out there-

A very clean looking silver coupe. I like it.

Looks like a fun car, but no heated seats. Yes, I'm a wuss.

Great color and the hardtop is a bonus.

The want is strong with this one. This actually does it for me more than the M version.

    I'm a fan of the 1-series and the Z4.

I bought our TDI from Auto Connections last August. Interesting place - each sales guy is responsible for his own inventory and basically rents space and a share of the dealer license. They don't seem to be all that flexible on price and definitely charge a premium.

Sharp cars, what I find funny is how far we've come in terms of the infotainment.  The radios just seem so old school, considering even 20k new rides have 7" touch screens, Bluetooth etc etc.

Yep I agree. No navi/idrive etc on a weekend car for this guy; it just dates the whole interior.

It's also a P2 car, it will be nicely equipped - keyless go, xenons, LED DRLs, should have a power trunk closer, etc. The design aged well.

I spotted a 2017 Toyota Yaris iA going for $14,975 in the Kansas City area. That dealer offers a Lifetime new car Warranty. All you have to do is get all the service in your manual done. You don't have to get it done there at that Toyota dealer, you just have to get it done per Toyota specs. That sounds good to me. The iA color is abyss, which, to you and me, means dark blue!

Where do they get these color names? The price includes a $1,500 Toyota rebate, which expires 2/28/17. So I'll have to move quick if I'm going to go for it.

This is the one here - it looks black to me but it's "Abyss" - dark blue. Tuesday, February 26 would be next free day to go trade my Soul...ahem, that is, my 2011 Kia Soul for it. This is the lowest-priced iA in KC and they don't go any lower than this. I'll ask Mrs. iluv ta go along with me if she wants to. I'm hoping she will - she'll love the car - it's worth much more than $14,975.

Have had the Bridgestone run flats for a couple months now and am satisfied with the ride. Still plan on rotating them every 5K miles as I've always done as I'd like to see them last a very long time. Probably could've spent less and just gotten regular tires but like the peace of mind these give. For some reason at work, see a high percentage of vehicles being returned with the tire icons on in the dash and have to wonder where are these folks going or how are they driving to have this happen so frequently? Just an observation I've seen over the last few years. I guess it's true that folks treat rentals unlike they do their personal vehicles. So many come back trashed inside and out that I don't understand why? Finding half eaten food in glove boxes and other compartments no longer surprises me and I ask myself do these renters really think that we'll never find this crap they leave? But my biggest question is why? Why trash a vehicle that isn't yours but has a record of when you had possession of it?
Probably should be posting this in the rental car forum but it's late, I'm tired.
Probably need to go back to sleep now!

weeelllll... maybe. It is a bit miley for the price.

My plan is, when I get close to making a purchase of a toy, to print out pictures of many different vehicles from classic to modern and sit with my 7-yr-old to see what he likes. We are of the opinion it would be nice to have something he and I might spend time enjoying together. I don't think the Benz would fit that bill.

Fired up the Prelude this AM. I somehow made it to work in 40 degree temperatures without heated seats (OH, the HORROR). What a simply fantastic car. It is still a joy to drive after almost 15 years. This got the Chronic Car Buying Wheels turning. I could most likely lease an Accord Sport SE with a stick for about $250 per month with $0 down or wait for a killer deal on a Q50 Signature AWD or Q50 Signature AWD for around $350 per month with $0 down and 15K miles per year.

You're bucking the CCBA trend here by holding a car for 15 years!

I'm trying to convince the wife to let me keep the GTI long-term as a fun car. She thinks I'm insane. I probably am.

I was going to suggest the same to 28firefighter - find a vintage toy. Cheaper. But IIRC, he lives in rezoned Seattle, where housing prices are so high that mortgages require 2 incomes, but developers have been able to con/bribe their way into including no more than one parking spot per unit, because Seattle. Letting an old car sit outside would do it in, and nobody wants their DD sitting outside all the time either (unless the garage is filled with $200 worth of yard sale rejects while the $35K car sits outside).

Most vintage toys won't be problem-free like a 15 year old Prelude though.

I tried to move our $200 worth of yard sale rejects out of the garage and house into our backyard patio open to the elements, in order to make our barely 2-car garage a usable 2-car garage (at least for smaller cars). Somehow the wife ended up moving the rejects back into the garage edges and some things back into the house; makes parking in the garage tighter. :( On the flip side, turns out some of those reject items are not meant to be stored outdoors when it rains, but they had to go!

I need to put some pool noodles up on one wall as it is finished in paint robbing and damaging rough uncolored stucco. The edge of my driver's doors has suffered as even though I am careful, 1 out of every 25 times I hit that wall trying to keep plenty of space between the 2 cars so that our cars don't end up hitting each others doors.

A 1983 GTI will fare a lot worse during a winter outside than a 2001 Prelude. I suppose the old car would get the garage spot, and in Seattle, have fun parking the other two. Maybe walking from your distant street parking spot is good exercise, and maybe your car won't get broken into overnight.

The best solution for a garage full of surplus knicknackery is a rented pickup and a trip to Goodwill. I love seeing houses with 2+ car garages, and 60K worth of cars sleeping outside while the garage is occupied by needless things.

We see the same issue here in CO ... garages full of boxes and other stuff and the expensive cars sit outside.

The wife and I have always managed to keep our garage organized so two cars can be parked in it.

And yes, I make trips to the Salvation Army every 2-3 months to donate unused items.

One way or the other, it's going to be converted to cash....that is, if it ever gets out of the dealer's service bay.

Cadillac has turned me into a "non-customer" for the rest of my days. I despise the way they've treated me, trying to whizz on my leg just to try to convince me it's raining. The last phone call with their Customer Service person, telling me the car had no defects in materials or workmanship, was the straw that broke the camel's back.

First remedy is to get them to arbitration, which Cadillac is dragging out as long as they can. That's going to take some more time. If that doesn't work, the Attorney General said they'd get involved, arbitration comes first. Then, if that doesn't work, I'll get a personal attorney and pay out of my own pocket for him/her. At some point, I'll take this to the media to help get a proper resolution.

I assume that if you get an attorney, while you might have to front something, in the end (assuming you win) their fees will be part of the settlement? Pretty sure that is how the lemon law firms work, but I suppose I could be wrong (first time for everything!)
