That makes me sad just looking at the injured Subie. I like the color and wheels on it.

Yeah, we loved the color. It took me a little while to appreciate it as much as my wife, but I drove one home (same color) while test driving one day, and she walked outside and said, "I want that car." I responded by asking what color she would prefer, and she says, "No, I want *that* car." LOL

The wheels were just a Craiglist find for winter tires, but they are very light compared to the stock wheels, so that's a small bonus, and the heavy black areas on them doesn't look bad at all with the color and black trim on the car.

I always liked the overall package. Plus pretty bullet proof and very long lasting. Only real downside has always been that they are thirsty. Small price to pay!

That's part of what swayed my decision to go CPO for the 1st time.
    Two quick thoughts:
IIRC you purchased an extended warranty on the Legacy. You should be entitled to a prorated refund on the time/mileage that is remaining. You may need to go thru the dealer to submit the request.

Now that winter is done (fingers crossed) take some time and find some used G37/Q40 rims to mount your new snow tires. Then you don't damage or upset the balance of your OE tires.

Enjoy but don't get any blue light specials!
It's likely that the pro-rated unused portion of the warranty was used to reduce the payoff value; no refund likely.
That certainly might be the case. However i have received a refund from extended warranties separate from the payoff, i.e. the extended warranty credit was not a factor in the payoff amount. I applied separately for the refund, so might me worth asking about.

Yes, yes, and yes. Insurance came in about $900 low from what it should be worth, so I am going to take off my mods so that I don't have to re-buy them for a replacement car, and then I plan to sell it for parts. Between the mod savings and the delta in the buyback vs. salvage value, I should be able to recoup about $1,500, which is a little more than the insurance gap.

While I honestly don't want to deal with it, I'd prefer to go this way than to sign it over to them knowing it will cost me more than they're giving me to replace it (even without the mods).

The layout and buttons on that Infiniti look very similar to my 2012 Murano, for what it's worth.

I'm not sure what you mean. The car has 328 horsepower! I didn't really notice anything else! LOL

The Subaru's interior was very well finished. Dash materials and interior touch points were a step up from my current Infiniti. The genuine aluminum trim in my Q40 is MUCH nicer than the plastic "aluminum" trim from my Legacy.

Overall, I really dig the cockpit feel of the Infiniti. The seats are very thickly bolstered and comfortable. I like the Infiniti's steering wheel and how the shifter is higher up than the seating position (much like a 300ZX I drove a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away).

I'd have to give the tech advantage to Subaru. Voice commands for the phone were easy as "dial Scott" or "dial 203-555-5555." The touch screen was bigger. I haven't figured out the best way to use the Infiniti's tech yet. It seems like there are 3 steps to every voice command in the Infiniti.

It integrated easily. I can stream music from my phone via bluetooth or plugged in to the USB port. The Subaru showed Album Covers which I thought was pretty cool.

A lot of the tech stuff in the Subaru is better because the entire car was redesigned for 2015. My Infiniti's tech is a couple of years old (as is the rest of the car).

My biggest complaint with the Infiniti is the interior space, relative to the size of the vehicle. It's pretty tight, especially in the back seat (where fortunately, I never sit).

Plus, I couldn't keep the accelerator off the floor...

@Michaell - I can see how the interior space might seem confining to you. I just fit in the car comfortably. I'm 5'10" 160 lbs. The Q50/EX35/EX37 might be a better fit for you. I know @qbrozen is 6'5" and fits in his EX nicely.

I'm so scrawny now, I finally can fit in a GTI seat. Maybe even a focus RS. So the Infiniti should be fine for me. Incentive to not put weight back on!

If you show them data that illustrates they are $900 low, they should either match the $900 or at least meet you in the middle. If they don't; you want a different insurance company.

Yeah, it is a comfy car. After a couple of months, I did, however, put 1/2" spacers under the front of the driver's seat rails to get that little bit of extra tilt for my legs to keep from leaning my knee on the center console.

Same platform as the z car. Just bigger with a back seat and trunk. X denotes AWD.

Seems pricey to me for a 2012 with a dirty carfax.

I worked with a guy that had one, but was a stick. Drove it once. Was kinda fun!

Alright CCBAers, I need some vehicle suggestions. A friend's wife (who happens to be 38 weeks pregnant) was in an accident last week in her 2012 Murano SL and the at-fault party's insurance company totaled it. I suspect they're going to give them $15-$17k for it, but we shall see.

What are extremely safe, AWD, SUV options that either used would be under $30k CPO or under $400/month on a lease? They'd like something on the luxury side of things.

Off the top of my head I'm thinking CPO BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Acura RDX. I'm sure I'm missing more?

How much room do they need? The previous generation X1 goes pretty cheap, even for CPO. Well under $30K.

If they would like something bigger, those QX60s seem to be great buys. I personally didn't care for it all that much, but the CVT had a lot to do with it - they will be used to it from the Murano.

For those who don't visit the Project Cars thread, I recently tried my hand at big auction bidding by way of the Mecum auction in Kansas City last week. I narrowed it down to 2 cars and both went way over what they were worth. Of course, one went across the block and sold for less than I would have paid, and I cried, but that's a different story.

Anyhoo, here is a word of warning for anyone considering this. Mecum requires a deposit up front of 20% of what you plan to spend if you are a phone bidder. However, after consideration, I decided to send the full amount up front because I could not figure out how I'd pay in time should I win. Sure, I could go through the trouble of a wire transfer, but there are not inconsiderable fees involved with that (Mecum charges $100 on their end plus whatever I'd have to pay on my end).

After the auction was over, I inquired as to how I get my check back. I did not yet realize they cashed it. So then I'm told they have up to 30 days from auction end to send me my refund! OUCH!! Guess what I won't be doing ever again!
