I had a rough day yesterday. My sister called me at work around 8:00 am to tell me that my brother in law didn't wake up yesterday AM. He was 40. They have 2 girls, ages 5 & 7. It is completely devastating!
That is horrible; you and your family are in my prayers.

On a more upbeat notes, one of my friends dug up this old picture of me with the Jetta I used to have and put it on Facebook. I note that, at just under five years, it's by far the longest I've ever kept a vehicle.

Oh, how terrible for his family! I hope your families are able to provide the support she will need to get through this.

Damn straight, Not to detract from Bradd's most recent incident, but there has been a lot of misery on here just in the past few weeks. The good news is that we who share these boards can try to help each other cope. I think it's called a community, one I'm happy to share.
And I have been told I'm being let go yet they're letting me work through April and May. And my Boss is letting me do home sleep study setups for OT pay during daytime hours two days a week. It's all because I fell 4% short on my Board. The update is I'm getting ready to re-test and I am hiring a tutor to help me over Skype. That was my wife's idea, and a brilliant one at that.
I agree, cdnpinhead, this Edmund's online community has been very upbuilding. My story is nothing compared to what some are going through on here. Everyone keep their chins up.
With so much arguing and vitriol on the 'net these days, it is good to know there is a community of people that have gotten to know each other like we have.
Many of us have been around since the beginning. Many have come and gone, and I've been lucky to meet up with quite a few of them in person.
As noted, there seems to be some tough times many of us are going through. Nice to know there are folks in cyberspace who do care, offer good advice, and generally have one another's back.

Everyone hang in there!
You are absolutely correct Michaell. So many forums and groups people hang out in are full of just downright mean, miserable people. Why anyone participates in them is beyond me.
The most important aspect of any good forum is the moderators and I can imagine you guys have your hands full at times. I mentioned before that I used to be a host on MSN chatrooms for almost 10 years so I can really appreciate the Edmunds groups. Thanks.
Took one for the team today. Wandered down to a little dealer about 30 minutes from me to look at a 2004 Frontier PU for SB55 (apparently the drive from Vermont was a bit long just to browse!). Sadly, it is raining today, and was pouring when I got there, and there was no one in the little office. So I just eyeballed from the outside. Amazingly clean for a 13 YO PU. Looked brand new. Interior was nice and tidy too. Brand new A/T tires.
Oh, forgot to mention in my PM to him, it has a spray in bedliner, and the neat cargo bed extender (the bars that flip over onto the tailgate if it is down).
did not get to drive though obviously. It was parked on the grass, which was rapidly turning to mud, so I bet I could have rooster tailed some serious ruts pulling it off the lot!
TJC, it was down near the Wally World on the BHP in Williamstown. So not far from your work IIRC?
I may owe @stickguy a commission. We are getting a mobile mechanic to take a look on Tuesday morning. If it checks out, a 420 mile (each way according to Google) road trip will be planned. These compact pick ups hold their value. Up here in the North anything this age are usually rusty.
Those who may have seen information on national news about the section of Interstate 85 just outside Atlanta that collapsed - this leads to making my commute much, much more awful... - Ray May never arrive home from work...

Anyone have any feedback on the LeMay auto museum? We'll be driving right by it, on our way from Seattle to Portland.
I definitely recommend it! My friend from Portland and I took the train up to Tacoma a couple of months ago and went through it. They had a very impressive BMW display on the top level and lots of interesting things on the floors below. Definitely a must visit if you're driving right by.
Bradd, words fail. But my thoughts are with you and yours.

As do Summer tires on a performance car in the dry or a warm wet rain.
Agreed!
Yet, it is arguable as to whether most drivers would truly benefit from the added capability of such tread. This is not so in winter situations - with the friction coefficient so low by default, any driver in a moving vehicle will experience significant benefit from better tires.

well, winter tires would be useless on my Sonata. 3 winters so far, and the tires have never touched snow or ice. Since it goes back 11/8 this year, I think I am in the clear!

Hahahah! True enough! I did say "winter situations." I can't help it if you guys are a bunch of softies.....
In warmer news, the snow is melting fast and furious around here! I had to get the plow out on Saturday just to get the Q7 up the driveway. It made a valiant attempt, but just couldn't overcome the 8" of ball bearings (aka slush) going up the driveway. After pushing most of that out of the way, it was able to climb right up.
I figured that if I needed it, so did the neighbors. I'll probably have to run all the drives again tonight after another day of strong sunlight!

Sometimes hearing the sad news of others here helps put things and life events in perspective.
Waiting on an ill-timed replacement rear differential just isn't such an awful thing in the grand scheme of things. I have a loaner Audi, things could be worse, and by far, doesn't compare to losing a loved one.
Things can be replaced (as it will be to get it tip-top again). Probably the biggest annoyance is the timing, time is one commodity that can't really be replaced.

@cdnpinhead agreed we are all hear for one another hear for you all. like this foram the best on edmans have to say come on hear everyday cant be said for others. that I sumtimes look at from time to time. grate job motaraters keep up the grate work have an good week all. Marco.
It's the brelds and qbrozens (honorable mention to abacomike and rayains) that make me feel like the car buying slacker that I am.
XF has been peachy since it took the extended nap. So, I'm back to loving it. Yet, still thinking of what next and when. I think reality has punched me in the face a few times the last few weeks, so I think I can stop the delusions of (used) S Class Coupes, new Lexus LC or (used )BMW i8 (nowhere to plugin at home, but chargers at work. Practicality be damned!). Not sure what to do, but the Jag XE still appeals to me, just not with the black interior and I need wood trim! I mean, it's a Jag! New A/S5, while a bit overdone stylistically, still is on the list. BMW 3/4, while a lovely car, just so ubiquitous. I mean, the GF bought one! Maybe the new E Class Coupe, but likely that's getting a bit $$$. The Giulia certainly intrigues, but a return to market, first model year from a new factory from a brand as well known for reliability as, well, Jaguar (!)? Perhaps not.
No lose, if I stand pat, still have the XF. As long as there are no naps on the horizon. But, there will be new tires. Oh, yes there will be tires.
