I don't disagree - a subtle lip spoiler would make a world of difference. The wider fenders and other design elements are actually very tasteful and differentiate the Type R much like Subaru does with the WRX vs the Impreza.

I liked how the video demonstrated how practical the Type R is - the backseats, while limited to only 2 seating positions, are quite roomy, and the cargo room under the hatch is huge. With the FWD, you could throw on a 19" winter wheel set and be good to go in winter conditions. I haven't had any issues bottoming out and scraping the lip spoiler at all - I don't consider it much lower than most other cars I've had with sporting pretensions.

The Boxee styling of the atlas anyway yes Dodge is doing a good job of keeping it relevant considering how old the design is

The Hyundai's hybrid vehicles gave me very intrigued to be honest. Have driven the Kia Niro at work a few times and really like it! Easy to drive and getting almost 50 miles out of a gallon of petrol has my mind thinking. Saw the Hyundai version but hate the split rear window, stinks on the Prius so why did Hyundai copy such a dumb idea? Really need to drive one to see if it's live able day by day. The Niro is no pocket rocket but was acceptable for day to say driving. The looks on both aren't the greatest but the exceptional mpg's make up for a lot off it. Having the long warranty is also something nice. Just not sure how long the hybrid cells last in real life day to day driving.
VW has also stepped up their game with the long warranty on their 2018 models. I like having a long warranty and have been spoiled the last few years by having one. The idea of having one for 7 years is worth something to me, liking their products is just icing on the cake.

long warranty, but depends on how many miles you are putting on it.

the Ioniq, like the Prius, went for the aero fastback design, and the split window is a compromise to give some measure of rear vision. I agree that the Niro is sharp looking, and useful space. And no, not super speedy, so depends on what you require.

Right now, if I was looking, I would give the Volt a long look. assuming Chevy is still making it!

Right now, am doing about 13,000 miles each year but once we both retire, want to travel around the United States a few months at a time. A hybrids better mileage would come in handy to be honest. The Niro has a lot of interior room so we could bring enough clothes to go some time without doing laundry. Plan is to downsize first and have our mail go to one of our kids house as we would be able to do most of our banking online or have them do it for us. Having a vehicle which gets excellent mileage is just a part of our retirement puzzle.
Am very interested in seeing those parts of our country I've only seen on t v or in pictures. Hopefully one say it will become our reality!!

My CPA wife wants to wait a couple more years. Told her we could always just buy a place, take out a small mortgage and then once we sell and move, payoff the rest and then bank a whole lot. Makes sense to me as in our neighborhood, the market's very hot and properties only last a couple of weeks, if that long! A 4/2 on a cul-de-sac in a great school city only helps us. Even though the mass shooting yesterday in next door Parkland won't really affect our selling price. House needs some interior work but a handy family could do it their way and get a nice property to boot. Lots of young families in here with multitudes of kids everywhere, we've just outgrown the area.
Just need to get wifey on board and we're all set. Be it Orlando or Ft. Myers, don't really care at this point though being near our girls is a huge plus for me. Like that they just stop in whenever to say hello and then go home, perfect situation for all of us!
Bottom line...am so ready to leave South Florida!!

Try not to be too keen on following the youngin's around. Youth these days are highly mobile, and, to be honest, the country is a pretty small place. If you plan to travel frequently anyway, you'll have plenty of opportunity to see them.

Agree completely. My 3 kids live in very different places, one outside the U.S. we decided we might as well retire wherever we like, as we have no idea where any of them might be in 5 or 10 years.

A Wall Street Journal reporter is hoping to find a recent buyer that would be willing to talk about their experience at the dealership, specifically about how/if the salesperson explained car safety systems during the purchase process. She's hoping to ask a few questions about how the dealer explained the ADAS package, tried to sell it to them, demonstrated how it worked, etc. Please send a note to pr@edmunds.com by next Friday 2/23/18

the QX50 is nice. I could live with that one. Only thing missing is BLIS/cross path. Otherwise, got it all.

She just got a pilot though, so not in the market!

And yes, you can find Q40s in the teens now. I saw a nice white Q37 today parked near me. Sharp. Nice sized package, and certainly fast.

I wonder if this will depreciate 50% in the next 15 months - gotta get it into my price range. I'm looking just a little. If I go for one of these, I want a pre-2002 car or a 2013+ car.

The old fashioned build quality is charming to me, and they have a very high depreciation floor - miled up early official imports still bring 25K++. Just one on the list. Fuel economy is the big drawback, but with our draconian private import laws, the diesels are somewhat elderly.

yeah, I was kidding/hoping. These have stable values - if it lost more than 20% in a year and a half, even with the new model for 2019, I would be surprised. 89K is about 100% over my desired budget.

Bradd....I’ve always liked those QX50s (or their former name, the EX). I thought they were a pretty cool wagon for those who don’t need a big SUV. I test drove a couple of them. Was always impressed.

Since I’m now forever on Infiniti’s email list, they are updating it pretty dramatically. They’re actually giving away a bunch of pretty cool stuff to get you to buy one when they hit the dealerships.....

We've talked about moving out of the area, but not sure if we'd ever pull the trigger. I'm the one that is more hesitant about moving, not my wife. It's hard to think about when you've become comfortable in an area.

Did you choose to do the interview in Seattle? Don't. Do it in Blaine. I did mine there, and was able to book it just a few days out. It's worth the 90 minute each way drive, and then you can stop in Bellingham for a nice lunch etc.

Vancouver, via real estate, is a regional money laundering haven, and prime destination for no-questions-asked pay-to-play residency. You'll also notice more than a few teenagers driving six figure cars. It's like Bellevue to the tenth power. Keep an eye out, if the weather was better you'll see plenty of late model Ferraris, Lambos, Astons, McLarens, etc. The enthusiast with normal funds might have a weird JDM thing.

So G65 then? It'll need to depreciate by 75%. The inappropriately cool forged wheels on those things might make it worth it.

I was thinking, a nice 2002 G500 with 150K miles on it will still fetch in the mid-upper 20s. A nice 2002 S500 with the same miles is a 5K car on a good day. They cost the same when new,

new QX50 looks nice. wonder how the variable compression engine will work in real life? And of course, how well it will last. But, get a few basic options on it, and can get pretty pricey. Still would be nice to compare back to back with the next RDX (which I am almost positive that my wife would like better).

Also noticed that Infiniti is copying the Acura dash design, with large upper and lower display screens.

Oh, I would doubt that. Figure cost per mile at 12 mpg to fill a tank at $5 a gallon. You'll spend $100 to go 240 miles. That's $5000 a year in gas. Not chump change even for the mildly affluent.

Not buyin' it. This suggests rich people are stupid, doesn't it? Sure, maybe a lottery winner wouldn't mind, but even G-wagen owners are probably on some kind of budget.

If we can judge by history and former "gas crises", people ditched big SUVs pretty fast.

Yeah, someone buying a new G63 is paying nearly 150K for the privilege, and likely using it as an occasional toy. They don't care if gas is $3 or $5 or $10. They also just won bigly on the new tax plan, so that might make up for it.

I don't want to say, "stupid".. But, someone who buys a G-Wagen is akin to someone that buys a ZR-1 Corvette.... fuel costs don't rank very high. It's not exactly a transportation expense.
