here is an oddball. Not just being RWD, but probably record high miles for one of these! Wonder what it has left in it? http://www.royaleasing.com/detail-2013-cadillac-ats-4dr_sedan_2_0l_luxury_rwd-used-17449708.html
I think 150,000 miles or so is pretty much the upper limit for a lot of vehicles before they need a lot of expensive repairs, especially a luxury make with a lot of features. That is when the Yukon started falling apart. I’m guessing that Caddy will start having issues soon if it hasn’t already.

I'd have to look at what I pay now, plus insurance (which is getting insane here). I always prepay maintenance in the lease, as it is a better deal. I'd also want to know the spec of the cars.

I know Caddy has something like this too, but I recall it being quite expensive.

I don't know about rock-crawling, but it will be hitting more trails this year. Have an overland-style trip planned with a group in mid-April. Needless to say, I'm the only Volvo.

Is that car even out, yet?

Not surprising they finally went to the turbo. Power is where the Mazda 6 and 3 fall short of the other makes.

actually, the 6 was either the quickest, or very close to, in the class (4 cyl division). No, it did not have the power of the V6 models, which also were tiny sellers compared to the base engines.

I'll admit to shying away from the 3.2 models, but are they actually pigs?  And what's your impression on the durability of the new Drive E powertrain?

Tires are Continental Terraincontact A/Ts. Factory tire size is 235/50/18; I'm now running a 225/60/17 tire with this setup. It gives me almost a half inch more clearance with no fitting issues, so I'm happy there. I wanted an A/T tire, which means a sidewall of 60 and up. Going to a 16" was a possibility, but then I'd have to go to a 215 width which I was trying avoid.

Check my swell signature. I've driven the 3.2; it's a car. I actually kicked around the idea of a XC70 off and on for a long time. In summer 2015 when they announced the T6 was going away, that finally motivated me to pick one up before they were gone. Got the last Platinum in the state. We ski a lot and the turbo is nice on passes and at altitude. I also added the Polestar tune because I could.

Haven't driven the 4 cyl models. I haven't heard of any major issues but must admit I've not really looked into it. Seems like there a lot of those engines on the road now, though.

Spoke with the collision shop today. New door will be here Wednesday and car should be ready the end of the month. He promised me in perfect condition so we shall see. I think he gets that I’m a bit concerned here. Insurance lady discussed with me trying to get my deductible back from the other company and brought up the diminished value subject. Told her that I’ll most likely trade it and I should be compensated for the loss in value my Golf will have going forward once they see th Carfax. And if asked about any accidents, I can’t lie and have to say yes. Predicting at least a $1K drop in offers, probably $13K or less. Q had given me a figure of $14.5K trade in but on an excellent vehicle like mine was pre-accident. Now, no way so I would need to be compensated here!!
Who knows, if perfect, just might keep it and try to get it through the end of 2019. But was enjoying test driving some fun cars. I know I want push button start for one thing plus Apple Carplay among those safety nannies. Have looked, and no 2018 VW Golf SEL’s anywhere near here and that’s what I’d get if getting another Golf. Like the idea of a hybrid also but so unsure. Will just have to wait and see but it’s tough. If they totaled it, would’ve been a bit easier but they didn’t, a big mistake on their part I think.

Did sit in an Elantra GT at the dealer last week, and liked it. The Kona was nice also but their mpg’s weren’t that spectacular for some reason. Both have turbo engines and are pretty light so would think they’d both be over 30 for both city and highway figures. Maybe Hyundai/Kia are a bit more conservative in this area after getting fined a few years back for cheating a bit. Like the new interiors and the dash layouts also, very modern and I like the “tablet look” for the infotainment systems, very modern and up to date. So, need to go check them out and see how they drive. Both the Buick Encore and Subaru Imprezza drove nicely but the Encore was the one I could see me with. A little tall but at 168”, same as my Golf so I know it’ll pass the garage test. But, could I live with a domestic for the next few years? Knowing it has a 4/50,000 back to back warranty helps, not as good as Hyundai/Kia or VW but not bad. And I like the Encore’s look overall, almost as much as the Golf’s.

At the end of the day, it came down to really liking the Durango and wanting something more like that, but with a more refined feel. And the Discovery fits that bill to a tee. I was simply more excited about this choice than the Audi. If there was any tie breaker, it was probably the diesel engine option. While not a V8, it mimics the character of the Hemi, with gobs of low end torque. I was finding myself a little swayed by the 0-60 times on paper between the diesel and gas versions, but by the seat of the pants, the diesel feels awfully quick and accelerates smoothly. And of course, the gas mileage is worlds better than the Dodge and the supercharged V6 option in the Discovery (which was a bit worse than the Dodge).

Is this a new or used 2018? Lease or purchase? And you bought a Sedona the same day?

I had posted over on RWTIV as to the value of a slightly used Kia Sedona. We purchased it for our son's caretaker (he's 22 with special needs, so we have a caretaker who watches him during the day when we're at work as well as whenever else we need her - she's a savior for us).

I hadn't posted about it here since I didn't think it should count as a punch, but I got caught. :)

Went back to Hyundai before going to the dentist and they put the gift card through again but still, nothing!! Did get a message from Subaru though and they want to send me a $35 gift card. Since they're next door to Hyundai, stopped in and got the details. Just redeemed it on my computer. Still have no clue why the Hyundai card is acting so wonkey to be honest. If it still doesn't go through, will go back again and raise hell, well see what the issue is. Don't advertise something and not deliver on that promise, just makes you look bad!!!

Penske Kia did that to me at Christmas. Sent me a $20 Gift card as a thank you for buying my Kia from them. I called to tell them to send me a touchup paint pen using the giftcard! I was told, NO! You have to come in to the store in-person to use that. I told them it was a giftcard, and it had a number, and no indication it had to be used in person. The guys said they had no way to keep track (BS).

Now I'm angry at the dealership for sending me the so-called gift without fine print (or missing fine print). They'd of been better off not sending the promotion. Now they have big points against them.:angry::angry:

I’m getting the front windows tinted on the Discovery - this vendor works out of the brokers warehouse where I sold my Type R.

It’s still sitting here - has a sold sign on it but when I talked to my broker, he said that the buyer may be backing out cause he wants a black one.

It would seem the market may be a bit exaggerated on the Type R at this point.  I thought it’d be an easy sell at around $35-36k, but I didn’t get one call.  Broker buys it from me for $34,500, listed it at $37,500 and now reduced to $36,900.  My broker said he’s only gotten a few calls.

I almost feel a little guilty about their potential limited profit, but I certainly didn’t twist their arm on the price.  And in fact, I had proposed a consignment deal, but they just wanted to buy it.

That's just it, I was happy to be given a $20 gift card. I was upset they didn't honor it. There was no fine print. It wasn't one of those "come take a test drive for $20 things" it was clearly a "thank you gift." Back in the politically incorrect days I think it was called Indian-giver?

I have felt like this when I have been stopped in traffic on the Burlington Bay Bridge in a high wind.
@driver100 will know what I mean.

Not yet, had some intense dental work, need a crown, so just came home right after to relax a bit. Liked the Kona a bit better than the GT, but think it best to keep away from any lot until I get mine back and see how it is. Trust me, if they had totaled mine, I'd be spending every free moment driving all that I like but not wanting to get my hopes up about any vehicle right now

Point is if someone is "giving" you something, honor it or don't do it in the first place! Still no word on the Hyundai card and doubt I'll ever see it. Just the point that leaves a bad taste that's all. My word is my bond, say I'm gonna do something and I do it...these folks are highly suspect now! And I gave them the correct information to begin with.
Such is life I guess, time to move on.

Hoping that all turns out well in my situation so I can move on. This was totally unnecessary, total carelessness on that kids fault but I have to pay the price. I know life ain't fair but seriously, enough is enough.
Saw that Subaru Imprezza I test drove the other day parked out front. Beautiful color combo but like it so much better in the white/ivory combo. It's a big vehicle and seems to be bigger now and not sure it's gonna work for me. The charcoal over black Kona at the Hyundai store was gorgeous, parked outside but locked! Wanted to get into it and sit for a few minutes to see how I fit and check out the ergonomics. Perfect size for the garage and has 17" wheels, the size I'd like. Not a fanboy of 18's as they get pricey at that point. The Elantra GT near it seemed a bit bloated but want to try them both and see what the different auto tranny's are like. The auto in the RAV4 shifts very smoothly and even though I don't keep it in "eco" mode, it goes there as I get into the highest gear and stays there. There's a dedicated button for "eco" and "sport" mode but keep it in "normal" mode and it just feels right. For a CUV, decent mpg's but would like a smaller, more efficient vehicle. Both Enterprise locations only had CUV's and larger vehicles when I stopped by so couldn't swap out of it. Will try again on Thursday and see what happens. Probably will end up just keeping it till mine is ready, which will probably be in about 10 days.

Two co-workers at the Wenatchee job had Toyota RAV4 SUV's and raved about how much they loved them. Ahh, if we switch to Toyota, it's gotta have a guppy mouth in front and a mini- Mazda 3 rear end for me to be interested. Of course I'm talking about the Yaris iA.

That Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse hits close to home for me. Our family used to go over that bridge from Tacoma to Gig Harbor where the grandparents lived. We drove down from Edmonds all the time to visit them. I have heard that story many times and couldn't believe it when I finally saw that film of it collapsing. Hope the dog's passing went as painless as possible - it breaks my heart to see the guy look back and go back to get him but he can't because the bridge road is swaying and buckling so violently. Incredible story.
