the Volvo just asks for regular. Premium is not going to keep it any cleaner. Just want to stick with quality fuel (top tier) so even RUG will be good for it.
I know that on my elantra, in the maintenance section, they require a bottle of their fuel system cleaner each oil change (or maybe annual, but somewhat frequent), Unless you use top tier fuel all the time (which I do). And that car is set to run on RUG.
Does the Elantra not have direct injection?

Is "they" the dealer or is "they" the Hyundai company saying this in print in their service documents?
For DI cleaners in the fuel don't have any effect is the general opinion. For others, I see on Hyundai forums talk about Techron Fuel System cleaner regularly.
As imid said, cleaner in the fuel does nothing for DI engines. Top tier gas is a different story because the cleaner the exhaust, the better to keep carbon from gumming up the valves as the exhaust leaves the cylinder. But since the fuel never runs over the valves as in the olden days, adding cleaner to your tank will do nothing to clean the buildup that Is already on the valves.

Also got a letter from my insurance company yesterday basically explaining what comes next. They basically said for all my out of pocket expenses, go after hid insurance company and if that don't work, go after the guilty party! First, I'll call Windstream and see if I can get my rental last week covered and possibly my deductible. If not, got the guys address and will either write him a nice letter or use the courts if absolutely necessary.
This makes no sense to me at all. Your insurance company should be the one making representations on your behalf to whomever. How can they just wash their hands of any responsibility to you as a policy holder?
Well, you've got a pickup truck and have the ability to "bring a trailer." Don't fool yourself into thinking this is anything besides a project car. It just happens to be a project car with a nice exterior and decent interior. Those wheels? YUK!

i actually don't mind the wheels. but he says the originals come with. steering wheel would be a challenge to find, probably. In any case, I would freshen it mechanically and just enjoy it as is.

I wonder if anyone would want my car, as it is a previous generation model. It does have some miles left, and is what should be a desirable model. Still, a lot of work.
I am hesitant about BaT, I don't think one would get the best deal there. Almost might be worth it to work personally with an importer, and have them find the right car.
Oh, I like a BAT-fest day on CCBA. That SWB G that Fin shared pushes a lot of the right buttons for me. Seems like the 2 door models are rare even in Europe, so to find one in that condition is noteworthy, as the bid price suggests. Great colors, and it looks about 15 years newer than it is. But we all know Fin is waiting for a convertible one.
I like the color on that Boxster, 28. IMS is done too.
I'm looking forward to both of you bringing your new toys to the pending first annual PNW CCBA meeting...
Miles are crazy high for such a car. I guess it is one of those "worth what someone is willing to pay," but the highest mileage at auction was 35k fewer than this one and sold for $3k.

It says Boxster S, but has the Boxster (Non S) Exhaust tip, right?
I see from CARFAX that the clutch went out at 71K, which is right on schedule for a Boxster. So, with current mileage, you can count on another clutch fairly soon, and I'd budget for it on any bid. The ad says "3.2" engine, so that's an S then.
@tifighter - I'm really considering it. I've been waiting for the "right" car that is in my budget and has the IMS done. Still have nowhere to put it.
@qbrozen - I'm not surprised to hear it probably isn't a good deal; but it does have the major issues addressed which is just as important as the price.

Fun car if you have someone in your area who can do the services and repair. This is a car you want to buy cheap and without any major issues prior to sale. Watch out for leaking (external) head gaskets and if there's a lot of tippity-tap from the valve train, keep in mind that this is a shim-system of adjustment and quite tedious.
These cars are a pleasure to drive and the engine note is just "the best". They are also built with the integrity of an Italian TV dinner tray.
A convertible would be cool. I'd want a hardtop for it though, and those tend to be older ones. A non-convertible is probably most likely, and I do like 2 door more than 4 just for uniqueness if anything. Condition is really key, old Gs are magnets for body rust, and tend to be treated roughly inside. This may be one case where a Japan import is the way to go - maybe start looking at goo.net. I don't want a RHD car either, and I would greatly prefer an automatic.

Don't forget, I'm a former Alfa owner. Or is that "recovering" Alfa owner? Hmmm...
Not only are those shims a PITA, they are not cheap. IIRC, the kit for the 2.0 was about $200. With inflation and 2 more cylinders, that 6-cyl has to be one pricey kit.

So, a condition of me acquiring the Boxster, is wife has asked that I flip the MB when it is practical to do so and get something < $200/month to help compensate for the additional insurance cost. I don't entirely disagree with her.
Thinking a Soul EV+ would fit the bill nicely on a lease because of the roomy interior. Assuming I could find someone to repay me my MSDs and takeover the payment on the MB...

How much MSDs did you put down on the MB?

I need to double check - it's either $3500 or $4000 (10 MSD).

In the age of the internet, parts are not a problem. Engine parts are the same as any 300E or 300SE from the same era, M103 is a common unit.

Right now it's cheap, but I don't even know what it is worth. I suspect it'll jump close to $10k before the auction closes.
