Looks like Breldco Motors has some hot inventory. Will the R make it to the end of the month? Will the Polestar go to Germany’s favorite part of America, aka Florida? The suspense is killing me...

Well, looks like the Florida guy is out. I think he got caught up in the thrill of getting a Polestar to add to his fleet, but is also looking at C30's as a fun car. Yup, much cheaper for sure.

So I heard back from the mechanic. The good news is, the clutch seems ok. Master slave cylinder is functioning normally. The bad news. He thinks the pressure plate is no good. He is going to replace the clutch, throw out bearing, & pressure plate. He gave me an estimate of $1,100 - $1,500 which seems low. But I trust him and know he will do the right thing.

Rats. If it makes you feel any better remember I had to replace all the brake lines in the Wrangler; also, the Club Sport needs a pinion seal...

Well, V90 actually - and not the XC version.  He had to seek it out from out-of-state.

Maybe i I should extend an invite to him to come hang out with us!

Most certainly an option.  Though while my wife and I are perhaps the worst offenders, everyone here can understand that there’s a certain point of no return when you’ve mentally moved toward a new car.

The porsche dealer did come back offering another $1k for it (so $36k).  Which mostly tells me that they have room in the service loaner price.

Wife and I did get to the Porsche dealer today to take a closer look at one of their service loaners - the Sapphire Blue one (brighter blue).

Compared to the Macan S we drove yesterday, the 4 cyl is clearly more, er, subdued. The thought crossed my mind that if we're considering the 4 cyl, perhaps should just go for a Q5. But then I got in the driver's seat, and there is a distinct difference in the overall feel between the two, despite sharing an engine. The Porsche is simply sportier and more engaging.

The wife did decide she preferred the Night Blue over the brighter Sapphire Blue, if she went for one of the loaners. As I mentioned previously, the salesperson indicated they'd throw another $1,000 at the deal, and mentioned how the service loaner would be certified (despite claiming a few days ago that they wouldn't be at the stated price).

    We shall see...

Hmmm -- well, that's too bad, but at least you have a mechanic you can trust. I had this happen once with my MGB, and it turned out that a piece of the disk that held in one of the springs broke off and got caught on the pressure plate such that there was no way for the disk to spin independently. Ended up pulling the engine/transmission over the Thanksgiving break and driving to Albuquerque to get a new disk. Good times.

Hope it works out okay for you.

Might seem like nothing to you, but for most people, an 1,800 mile road trip is a bit long to pick up a used car.

    It's not a "used car." It's a highly sough-after and rare Polestar! :p

And, a scant two-day drive, if you're taking your time. Barely enough to take a deep breath!
1,800 miles is a 2 day drive for you?

No problem. Just average 75 MPH for 12 hours straight each day!

It's a chain actually, but pretty good taco overall. In my town you could buy 6 for the same price but they might lack the dramatic presentation. :p

Yeah... I will say that the queso was not that great. Beer helped that.

Yeah, it's probably a little slower, but longer on the driving. Very doable two-day drive. I will be rolling about 3,000 miles on this drive home from SLC, and the plan is to get it done by end-of-day on Monday (so, three driving days).

It is not like such a thing would be a site-seeing trip. The intent is driving, so you drive. My son and I managed a 1,200-mile day (with me as solo driver) last year when bringing the Forester home. I went from a rest area about 100 miles east of Rapid City, SD to Pendleton, OR in one day. It was a long drive, as we left at something like 0430 from that location and arrived at about 2130 (plus we gained an hour due to time zones).

Did you hear back from that broker that you used to sell the type R, that you had emailed about possibly working a deal with you on the pool store?

Thank-you.  My mechanic is knowledgeable and honest.  He’s got a small garage with a lift and an office.  He wouldn’t replace a bolt or washer unless it is necessary.  I know my beloved Prelude is in good hands.

I’m happy the Prelude is my spare car. So I can afford to wait for parts and give him time to do the job properly.

That's a bit of bad luck, but it does happen. One way to diagnose that is to observe clutch travel and/or release through an inspection port in the bell housing if you can. Make sure he gives the flywheel surface AND the pilot bushing a good look as well--it's the old "while you're in there".
