Speaking of Volvos I don't really see this as BaT worthy, are these rare?

It is rare to find one that is in decent shape and has had the known failure points addressed. This one does not even meet that qualification given all the issues. Not quite sure why this is on BaT. With the car throwing unknown codes, the angle gear risk, etc - I can't believe it is even at $3k.

The seller didn't really bother to clean it up either. Yet they declined to list breld's Polestar. Makes sense :s

Get the cheaper, better equipped one in Fla up here and could make that happen. Not spending near $20k for a 2015, but 15 range is more palatable. I can get a 2018 loaner with 5k miles for 29,000, and that was their first pencil.

All this talk of Volvos, and the changes to the CPO warranty, means I should take another look at them. I don't know if I was just in a bad mood, but my first test drive of a CPO S60 didn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

I know how much @jpp5862 liked his, so another test drive may be in order.

Like @graphicguy I'll be anxiously waiting to see what happens with the TLX Type S and when that will be on the market. Additionally Acura makes it very enticing to stay with the brand with their end of lease benefits. However the new S60 looks very sharp and seems to be getting pretty good reviews so I will probably add that to the list.

I saw an incredibly rare sight here last night: A Masarati Ghibli (sp?). The scripting was pretty strong on the name plates, but I think that's what it said. It was a pleasant-looking tan color four-door sedan.

Nice cars mentioned above all, orbit were you able to renew the subscription on the G 37 for the satellite radio? Or you just gonna go without it? Have a good day off.

Yeah, I took them up on their offer for $25 for five or six months.
  • tbirdmarcotbirdmarco Member Posts: 3,838
Very nice Corvette but you have satellite radio back in the G 37, for six months then see what I have to offer you after that awesome. West that’s a rare sighting wow, sounds like a nice Porsche that you saw yesterday in your neck of the woods. Hope that everyone had a good day they was pretty good here quiet but good. Have a good night all. Who will make the next car punch? Need another one in here soon. Ha ha
  • tbirdmarcotbirdmarco Member Posts: 3,838
Stick guy, your next car should be what was mentioned earlier today and hear a Volvo S 60  you know you know you know you want one. Ha ha good to know about them extending the certified preowned warranty QB.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,697
I went over to the volvo site to see about the CPO. It did say depends on when certified, so cars on the lot now are the old plan. But, it is 5 years, so only 1 year beyond the regular BtoB warranty (and overlapping with the powertrain one). Yes, you can extend it, but that just took me to the VIP plan page for extended warranties. No mention of price of course, but you can take it out to 8/unlimited. Or 9/125,000. I bet that is expensive.

I would be better off with the current CPO I think with miles limits.

Saw a brand new silver Acura ILX today as it pulled up next to me. Very nice looking, similar to the TLX, but the silver color made it look drab and blah really. Think a different color would make it look better. A little while later as I pulled into the Honda store, saw a new 2018 ILX in white and it was stunning really. The proportions looked much better and since it was super clean, it really popped. I think I could be very happy in a 2018 model to be honest. Will have to check out the specs to see how long it actually is, hoping it's around 175" as that would just about fit on my side of the garage.
One good thing about us possibly following my kid and moving to the Orlando area, her garage has no lip so I could get a full size on the right side of the garage with no issue. They have the hot water heater in front of that space but it's tucked into a cozy corner so it doesn't intrude on the garage space. A very good idea which helps make both sides of the garage able to hold two full size vehicles. As much as I like the new Civic, think the ILX would be a better fit for me. Not sure the other half would be real happy if I came home tomorrow with a new vehicle, but sure would be fun. And really, the ILX is the first vehicle in awhile to really peak my interest. Just wonder with the new 2019's already in the showroom, how much they'd be willing to deal on a left over 2018 model? Might start searching just for the hell of it and bet I could make a decent deal the last week of 2018, say on the 31st about 5 pm before the festivities begin. Even though I never take a vehicle home the same day, for the right deal, I'd overlook that and drive it off their lot before the end of 2018 and just come back for any missed prep work. But only for a killer deal!!

pretty close Sandy. About 182" long. 2 inches more than my Elantra. Right now, probably really good deals to be had, but no clue how long the supply will last.

I'm also considering trolling around for a killer deal the last few days of the year. Ya never know.

Things might be different in Florida, but here in Texas if you actually strike the deal on the 31st, you can complete the deal on the 2nd and it still counts for the dealer as a previous year sale. I'm not a lawyer so don't ask me about the legal details, but I do know it can be done, and is done.

Funny, I also like the blue over beige interior. Mine's pretty pristine except a couple of small area but one must look hard to find them. My fault really as I leave magazines on the seats too long. Get to work early to miss the school zone where we live plus I hate the morning traffic. Sure it's 99% highway, but it gets a bit crowded as I get onto I-75. I also get about 5 magazine subscriptions so it works out perfect. I leave early and either eat something at home or stop and get an egg biscuit at Mickey D's and read there. Or park right near work and read there. I really hate traffic, and I get to drive in crazy "Meeami" go figure!!! And luckily my Golf is a fun road car which I really enjoy driving so it all works out great for me.
That's why I've got to find a vehicle that makes me feel the same way the Golf does. Funny, within 5 minutes into my first test drive, I knew that it was gonna be my next new vehicle. I just knew. Took me about a week to finally do something as I went and tried a couple other vehicles. But once the A3 came home, I just knew it was just a matter of time. She got hers on December 2nd I think and decided that by the end of the month, if I still felt the same about it, I'd just swap out of the Tucson and be done with it. Within a week I think, I went back for a test drive and had to have it. And that was a Wednesday. Had my CarMax appraisal in hand and decided to make it happen. And when we were a $1000 dollars off, I showed my salesguy the sheet from CarMax and he finally agreed to match. And the rest is history.

Maybe it's just me, but I hate the infotainment and HVAC system in the new Volvo's! Just hate 'em as their just to damn difficult to work for me. Last one I had, I had to get a Hertz counter guy to come out and show me how to get to each different window to tune the audio and cool the car. It's just not intuitive or as easy as most other vehicles. Being a baby boomer, I like my knobs and buttons to fool with. I have about 10 stations on Sirius/XM that I always listen to and switch between them to find the best music at any given moment. But used to do that as a kid growing up in lower New York and listening to WMCA and WABC. And once we got a true stereo in our vehicles, WNEW. Just became a habit to switch from station to station. Once I got a cassette player, I'd make my own tapes from my many albums. And from there, I'd burn cd's on the computer so I'd always have songs I liked to listen to. Then came the iPod and now, finally, Sirius/XM. I really don't need it as my iTunes library is up to around 850 tunes and also have a couple of flash drives with most of those 850 on them also. Recently, I added a few more tunes from Apple's iTunes app as there were certain all time favorites I wanted to add. Have to have music to drive, anywhere!
I know when I started driving part time back in 2013, made sure I had access to my iPod as not every rental has Sirius/XM in them. As long as they've got an aux input or a port for my other cord, I'm all set. And if worse comes to worse, there's always FM radio. Luckily, I've got XM in the Golf so the many future trips I will be taking to Orlando will go by quickly. The music really makes the time go quicker and the 2 hour, 15 minute drive just flies by. And with Stick's help, can also set the iPod or my iPhone up to listen. As long as they keep the price of my XM subscription where it is now, I'll stay. If they increase it much, I can always live without it if need be. I know at work, some of the new fleet is coming in without having Sirius/XM already connected. I'd hope they'd be giving the major rental companies a very good deal to have them in so many rentals right now.

I was looking at the few Acura stores in my area and they still have a good amount of 2018 models left, most with black interior for some crazy reason. In South Florida, a black leather seat will burn your backside if wearing shorts. But if I ever do go back to black leather again, I'll just need to sit on a towel at first. Didn't see any maroon over ivory units though and very few blue over beige one's. Black, white and silver seem to be the most popular colors the dealers still have in stock. Just need to go drive a few again as the last time I did was back in November of 2013 as it came down to an ILX or the Tucson at one point.
Luckily, for my next vehicle, I've raised my cash outlay to $25K plus trade-in. Now if I could get 0% financing, then I'd just put down a fraction and do that. With the Golf, I was at $20K cash but since then, prices have gone up but so has the kind of vehicles I'd now consider seriously. And after next year, doubt I'll be driving all that much and even if we do start to travel more by car, will have both vehicles to use to keep the miles down. So a comfortable seat will be a deciding factor after the overall size of the vehicle. Thinking that 182" is the longest I'd want to go for even though that doesn't include the new Camry. Call me nuts, but I really like the looks of the "LE" version and also the way it drives. I drove a new Avalon the other evening and it felt just very Camrylike to me, though nicer. I was really blown away by how the Avalon drove! Super smooth and couldn't even feel the shift points even though I saw them happen on the tach. Now that's something I could really learn to love...just need to find it in a compact! Really, I've always liked Toyota's and drove only one of their units for many years. They make stellar products, though some are very appliance like, they still get the job of driving done as smooth and uneventful as possible. The lack of drama is very important to me in any vehicle I own. I hate surprises like a dead battery or fluids leaking all over the garage. I need my vehicles to be running all the time and I maintain them so it usually happens. My wife thinks I'm a bit too anal when it comes to maintenance but I'd rather not have any issues. That's why usually by year 3, I swap out the battery just because I don't want to get stuck in the garage like I did a couple years back with the Golf. By the beginning of the new year, I'll be ready to swap out the one replaced under warranty.

I hate to guess, but I think that's a camera issue. If that's the same color that is on my wife's X3, it's amazing, in person. If not, then... never mind.

I just read through the comments - someone noted from a different forum that the car was just purchased by the current owner earlier this month for $23,500.

Interesting to see if a professional photo shoot nets this guy a flip premium.

Good question. Pics aside (and yes, they are nice), the car is worth what someone is willing to pay.

My guess is any upside by adding the nice pics won't be worth what the seller paid to have them taken.

I had a Volvo S90 rental earlier in the year.  The controls did take a little longer to learn than usual but once I was familiar it seemed pretty easy to navigate.

I still really liked everything about that car.   I’d love to have one, and if I could score a silly lease on one next year I’d be all over it.  I know for while there were some killer deals, but those have dried up.

Tom, you might be interested in what l learned chatting with the sales lady during my G70 test drive. Apparently burns bought the old Leniham Jeep building on 73, and plan to build a stand alone genesis store there. Seems like way more land than they need for that, so maybe something else goes in too. They really need a much bigger Hyundai building.

I have the touchscreen for radio. But never use it. I generally just use the steering wheel switches instead.

Like anything else new, might be confusing at first, but you usually get used to it pretty quick.

I just read through the comments - someone noted from a different forum that the car was just purchased by the current owner earlier this month for $23,500.

Interesting to see if a professional photo shoot nets this guy a flip premium.

Well at $23.5K he paid top dollar already, so I don't see any room for a flip here.
