That Jeep pickup is going to cost an arm and a leg. And possibly other parts of your anatomy.

I just built one on the Jeep website and tried to duplicate as best I could the one shown in the auto show photo.

I rung up $53,900 at the checkout counter.

I'm pretty sure that the Jeep will lease about as good as the Wrangler - in other words, NOT.

    The S60 is handsome, too.

Why do the Wranglers lease so poorly? They surely have high residual, so I would think they would be pretty decent as a lease.

non-subsidized money factor, no lease cash, and probably little in the way of discount.

a 50K car at 4% and 60%residual is still a lot of interest, and $20,000 of depreciation to cover.

Exactly, though the residuals on the 2019 Wranglers vary from 56-70%, depending on 2- or 4-door and trim level.

And, the rates are probably north of 5%.

There were a couple of really good Wrangler leases reportedly scored this past fall through independent banks. Much like the crazy Tacoma leases with very high residuals.

Off topic, but: after I ordered and started drinking a rather strong mixed drink at my local, the bartender mispoured a margarita with way too much tequila and gave it to me. Advantages of being a regular. Also glad I walked here, as usual.  :)

Saturday I get debited for another Bluetec payment, coming to the end of the line. I am starting to think more now. I am going to hold off on real negotiation until about 6 weeks before the end, but that will be here before I know it.

A MB dealer in Portland metro is offering some of their decent leases on low mileage cars again - it's not brand new and I am not a fan of the color combo, but seems like a fair deal on a virtual sign and drive on a well equipped car

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,855
sharp looking car. Seems to be a pretty good deal for something that fancy. And I'm the wrong person to say don't get red over black!

I just have no desire for a 2 door car again. But that is certainly personal preference.

Add $1k for WA registration on a car like that plus 10.4% tax on the payment.

Then again the E400 coupe won’t lease for $500 a month...

I don't love red nor black interiors nor 2 doors, so it probably isn't right for me, but isn't the worst deal, and there's probably wiggle room. Nice to see something that isn't a basic model being offered in such a deal.

Yeah, can't escape those no matter what I choose. Sunk costs. Still seems like a decent deal, and I have to wonder if it can get even better. Pretty sure I wouldn't want a red coupe though, just not my thing. I like the spec though, decently loaded with LED gauges.

just looked at Honcker in NJ. a similar coupe in gray, a few less options and a 73K sticker, still a 2018, for $919/month with $3,400 DAS.

your deal, looks a lot better!

If you want to snag a cheap lease on a demo/service loaner, you can't get too picky (unless, you are my wife).

But, a $770/mo. payment is a lot to choke down, if that isn't the car you want.

(Hmm... my car is red w/black interior and a 2-door)

Yep, I wouldn't take on such a payment for something I didn't want, but I will be picky even for loaners or old demos or whatever the history is behind that coupe (I can't imagine something as posh in the local loaner fleet). Come to think of it, the Bluetec lease wasn't much worse in monthly/initial payment vs MSRP, but they really wanted to get rid of it.

Well that one is practically new! Not well accepted by the traditional V8 Mustang crowd when new but it was a pretty good performer in its own right.

The Fox body Mustangs were a common occurrence in HS parking lots back in the day.

Didn’t they charge more for the SVO Mustang shown in the ad vs the 5.0 V8? I think that would be a hard sell.

Well a "normal" one might go off at $15K, so the bids for a time capsule aren't too crazy I guess. Still, it is what it is, and it's not going down into the book of glorious automobiles.

You'd be bored in a week. It's just a big old thing. Those three pedals have you intoxicated perhaps? Now if you lowered it, did a bit of Dinan on it, some nice exhaust, fatter tires, tint, premium sound, back up camera,---well then---

The E39 is smaller and more entertaining. But, you can only get the 184 HP engine in the wagon. And, those are getting long in the tooth.

BMW wagons with sticks are hard to come by. If I really wanted one, I think I'd be looking for the E9X wagon, from 2009-2011 with stick. Hen's teeth. (and, more money, obviously)

Something tells me it’s not all up to snuff.  Or I suppose it’s possible the dealer doesn’t know what they have. The sports package makes it.

Kids car is working fine now but told her to go do some test drives to be ready to pull the trigger when the time comes. She's at about 106K on her 2009 Versa SL, she loves it as it's her first vehicle, and is hoping to nurse it a bit going forward. She just bought a new house so, it's a lot for her. Seems like the ex-fiance is going up next week and they're going to talk about a possible getting back together. I held my tongue but told her to make sure he's fixing his financial picture. She said she's well aware and only her name will be on the deed for awhile no matter what happens.
She really likes the Chevy Cruze Premier hatch back, but since he drives a Camaro, am not surprised. I mentioned the new Nissan Kicks, a Civic and a Forte as vehicles she needs to check out. Anything with 0% interest would be wonderful too. Giving her the Golf is off the table for now. Understand as she wants something new. Have the '08 Accent in the garage this week and at 35K plus on the clock, is in great shape but the paint looks a bit rough in a few places. Have no clue what she's going to replace it with but she can afford a really nice vehicle if she wants. But she's also like the rest of us and won't spend an outrageous amount on a depreciating asset. But her mom will be searching with her and I'll be asked to come in at the end to help.
Right now, I'm going to test the leftover 2018 ILX next week and also the Mini Cooper but thinking I won't do anything till end of year when I retire.

Was on iTunes the other day and after about two hours, purchased 25 new songs. A bunch of vintage Stevie Wonder, some Bobby Vinton and some early Motown. Redeemed them all last night and synced them all with my iPhone. So now have about 900 songs in my music library which is great since more and more of our new fleet is coming in without Sirius/XM on them. Most have the Apple Play or Android Music in their infotainment systems.
We both renewed our Sirius/XM accounts and basically got it for around $75 plus taxes and fees. I have them send a bill as I hate giving my credit card for renewal. The extra $2 for a paper bill is not an issue for me. Do I really need it in my Golf, well no as I've got a lot of music already but the usual 40 minute commute each way makes me justify having it. But who knows what next year will bring.
I always shuffle my iTunes when playing them so I'll be surprised at what comes next. Still have a couple of older iPods the kids gave me but I've now got too much music for the bigger one to hold. Very happy with the Golf's Fender music system and lucky that Stick knew which kind of cord to get so my iPhone works in the Golf as it doesn't have a usb port/aux input, just the old 30 prong Apple connector. In a 2015 model, what the hell was VW thinking, but same set up in the wife's A3, a bad faux pas with the manufacturer!!

Not sure why you guys think it's so cheap. I suppose the xi trim offers a modest little premium, but if you can buy a 2008 328i sport wagon all day long for $6500, I don't see why an xi would be worth THAT much more.

Which is just about what it should be, so no plus or minus on miles I would think.

Ten year old German cars are not exactly appreciating assets. A 2008 Toyota RAV-4 would sell for more.
