Send man, agree good to make amends with people. Life is too short, keep those important to you in your life in your life, and those acquaintances really don’t need in your life, just close family and friends. Glad your daughter got her new phone mine and she’s on her own with that too, been a big month for her with the car house, and phone.

Glad, you have three days to still work, everything happens for a reason. That phone you went to look at that someone was selling on Michael, wasn’t meant to be, you have the same phone that I currently have, but I also got back in August.

And yes, when you get a chance going to testerone a tracks, don’t think I’ve ever sat in one of those, but maybe next weekend have to go to the local Chevy dealer and do that. Have you done any of the new lasers in the rental fleet yet? Forget the rental car company my cousin‘s friend works for, I think we got them in there some lot where they keep them all, but didn’t put them on the road yet.

Hope everyone’s having a good week, it is hump day. Spent all morning job searching, finding a lot of the Seymour jobs here. Have to keep at it. Was surfing on car guru’s and cars.com earlier too. Just cause I can, Ha ha ha and also was looking on dealer raider and dealer reviews.

Curious to see what the GLI does to the highline Jetta sales. An SEL Premium runs about 28,5 MSRP - a comparable GLI Autobhan would be around $30,800.

May not do much of anything - my guess is those who are willing to consider a smaller engine Jetta will not care about the extra engine displacement and performance enhancements.

The timing should work out well for me. The X1 goes back in January or a bit before (to avoid another year of registration). Will replace that with another SUV of some sort. Then the Stelvio will go back in August 2020 and I can get the GLI on a purchase - should give them one MY to work out the bugs and for the hype to die down. If for some reason it stays popular, then I can use the VW Partner Program and get 500 back of invoice without any struggle.
I saw a Dark Green Stelvio on my way in this AM.  It looked fantastic!

Like any color, it depends on the vehicle. Amd of course the shade can differ. Our ‘98 hunter green Forester was pretty ugly compared to the Stelvio in its kind of flat metallic dark green (although I have not seen one in person).

We seriously considered a Forester that same color in ‘99 but determined we didn’t need the utility aspect of the car. The car was for my wife and she preferred a sedan and a little sport factor. Ended up trading a ‘97 Altima 5sp, a very boring car for a ‘99 VW Passat GLS in Excellent Green (more of a turquoise shade), Luxury package and 5sp. She loved that car yet ultimately needed utility as we had our daughter in 01. Leased a 03 Odyssey EXL, then leased a 06 Pilot EXL and have had at least one Honda in the fold since.

My 95 Tacoma SR-5 was a green similar to the Forester. Tan/taupe interior.

First new car and first one I bought on my own. As you would expect, dead solid reliable and moved about nicely with the 3.4 V-6.

Seating position was very flat so it wasn’t ideal for road trips but who really cares about that in your mid 20’s?

My mom had an 88 just like that. LX I believe. What ever the top trim model was. It was the first foreign car my dad ever purchased. He’s in an Encore now but they have had 3 Camry’s, 2 Avalons, 1 Lexus, 1 VW and 1 Subaru since.

That made me think for a minute.
I have had just 1 green car, and my wife had 1 in that Forester. And we had both at the same time for a while. Mine was a '99 626 in Meadow Green. A very nice light mint metallic. I can't find a pic that really captures the color. Interestingly, this Sepang Green Mazda6 looks the closest.

This one gets it OK, too, but low res.

Speaking of how things are working out, I thought I’d give a quick update on the Crosstrek since we’re about 2 months and ~2500 miles in.

Overall still very pleased. From a utility standpoint its great. We actually used the roof rack once to haul some things to the lake but for day to day activities it swallows groceries, lacrosse bags and miscellaneous Home Depot runs just fine. With the deaths down its even better.

Comfort is outstanding. It’s a great road car and the adaptive cruise is cool. We find it more comfortable than the X1.

Infotainment and safety goodies are great. I went to the dealer and got a tutorial from the Subaru version of a genius and it helped but really wasn’t a whole lot I couldn’t have figuered out on my own in an hour in the garage. One quibble is with the reverse braking. We have a side entry garage with hedges along the parking area where you back out. I’m used to backing almost to if not brushing the hedges just to give plenty of room to turn. Well the Subie thinks that’s too close and will engage the brakes and none to subtly either! I need to look and see if it can be adjusted. Stereo is good. Back up cam is awesome, nice big screen and Apple CarPlay is really cool!

Performance is as anticipated which is to say adequate. Honestly I have had to make some adjustments in my judgment when merging or pulling out of an intersection or parking lot. But the payback on that is great gas mileage. We’ve been a 23 or 24 in town and 30 on the highway and that was with the basket on the rack. I just took that off last week and filled up yesterday. Unfortunately I got caught in a major traffic jam yesterday on the one day I had to go into the office. Took me 2 hours to go 15 miles so that’s going to screw up the average on this tank I’m afraid.

No squeaks, rattles or groans so far. We’re very pleased and its a good value for the money.

You can turn off the reverse braking by holding the "button" on the center display for a few seconds. It will show as being turned off on the screen in front of the steering wheel. When you start going forward it will turn back on.

That's what I did when backing out of my garage. The driveway slopes down so when it meets the opposite slope of the road, it thinks there is an obstacle there so it jams on the brakes. Since I backed into the mail truck last week, I don't turn it off any more (lesson learned). I just back out slower. It seems to be able to compensate for the difference in grades that way.

    Green:

1997 Accord EX sedan. Eucalyptus. Not good. Came with a gold trim package, which they offered to just throw in the trunk, if I didn't want it put on. It was still in there when we traded it in, two years later.

1998 CR-V EX stick-shift. This green was better, but not great. Made sure I got a black one, when I replaced it in 2002. Much better

1977 Mustang Cobra II. To be fair, this was white, but had green Cobra stripes.

We had a few green cars over the years in the family

At the time the V6 was pretty powerful. Mopar did a good green IMO

My mom had this one. More teal

I had this color on my Avalon. Looked different depending on the angle. Toyota called it silver spruce I believe

It definitely wouldn't be my 1st choice, but it definitely looked great & made the Stelvio stand out. I usually see them in Black, Red, or White.

I saw a Silver Giulia that looked great too. Itreally showed off the car's lines!

Wasn’t there a former car dealer over on Real Trade In Values who used to call it No Sale Green? :D Green is not a color that appeals to a lot of people! I’ve never owned a green car. It seemed to me that as those 90s cars aged, the green looked worse and worse. Thanks for the review of the Crosstrek! I know some folks with one and they love it. We had a (red) Forester once. I liked it generally, but it developed recurring problems and we ditched it after only a couple of years. I guess I got the one bad Subaru.

It comes and goes... The 3rd generation CR-V had a color they called "Green Tea", and it was a hot ticket. That happens with browns sometimes, too.

I took a test drive in a new 240SX in 1990 which was (or looked to me like) a light frost green. After searching for an online example I think Nissan must have called that color silver green. The test drive was good but I'm not a green car fan. Probably a rare color for that car.

My Dad's 1966 Corvette is "Moss Port Green." It is a silvery green. My Dad is color blind. 30 something years ago when he had the car repainted, he ALMOST had it painted silver because that's what he thought the color was.

Like acid washed jeans and pastel jackets color trends on cars come and go.

In the late 80’s-mid 90’s you HAD to have a green in your color palette. I see a few variations of brown out there now that you didn’t see a few years ago. A couple of them are not bad but its not really my first choice.

But for the most part the heart of color offerings are shades of gray, white and black.

Mazda has a great red and a beautiful dark blue. BMW does some great blues.

Subaru has an orange available on the Crosstrak and well as the Cool Gray Khaki which looks light blue to me.

He said that the Stelvio and SHO have a lot in common. They both had/have excellent engines and transmissions, but truly terrible build quality. He used to tell me that it sounded like the doors of the SHO were going to rattle themselves right off.

I only ever drove one green car, the family's '73 Volvo 144 when I was in university. It was a non-metallic darkish green, a bit darker than BRG. Was a lousy car unfortunately.

Heh. My brother is colorblind for greens and reds. Maybe 10 years ago when he had his Ranger pickup he decided that the alloy wheels were looking a bit worse for wear and that he should repaint them. He went to the parts store and looked at the premixed offerings on the rack. Decided he liked one shade the best so bought several cans and resprayed the wheels with it. It wasn't until he was done that his wife asked him why he had painted them light green - GM Light Jadestone Metallic from the late '80s. On a dark red truck it almost looked festive. :D
