I'm not a Nissan SUV fan, but damn this seems like a deal on a $35k mid-sized SUV.

    36 Months

My cell phone sound was off, so didn't hear the alarm go off yesterday. Jumped up at 8:03 and saw I was late. Called my boss, threw on some clothes and got there by 8:20. So glad I live close. Apologized over and over as I'm never late, always early. Other folks were cool about it but felt so bad all day. Worked till 6 and we were quite busy, pulling vehicles from the Ft. Lauderdale airport and going to Delray, Boca and all around our house. Was a busy day.
Off today, need the rest, but was already asked to work on Thursday so I'll be working the rest of the week. Hoping they'll ask me back for the Sunday group next week, but we shall see. If yes, I'll make sure I have a back-up alarm just in case. One thing about me, most of the folks at my jobs know I get there at least 15 minutes early no matter what. Just hate to run in, clock in and get on the van. I like a slow morning routine and yesterday was just the opposite!

I tell all the new hires not to worry about making mistakes because every mistake you could conceivably make has already been made by one or more of your coworkers.🤯

    Well that didn't take long...

    It's obvious that:
    A. I lack graphicguy's winsome demeanor, or
    B. Kia of Elizabethtown is not interested in selling the GTS, or
    C. Both A and B
Here's how it went down- I pulled in and parked my M235i in a customer spot right in front of the showroom. There weren't any other customers around, as best I could tell. The GTS was parked nose first in a customer spot next to the service lane; it didn't appear to have been driven recently. When I walked up to it I saw it had an ADM "Mop n' Glow" sticker attempting to add $4,000 to the price- those always p*ss me off. At this point I'm approached my Mr. Man Bun(MMB) The conversation went something like this:

    MMB: Can I help you?
Me: I like that GTS but it's considerably more than I'm prepared to spend.
    MMB: Really?
Me: Yes, If I'm going to spend that much money I'd be looking at a CPO M2C.
    MMB: M2? That's a Mercedes, right?
Me: No, it's a BMW. The thing is, the GTS is the only Stinger I'll consider because it's the only AWD model with a mechanical limited slip- and no one wants to find me a RWD GT2.
MMB: How much do you want to spend?
Me: At this point no more than $35,000
MMB: Okay, well thanks for stopping by.

No wonder the car has been sitting for 150 days...

And good luck to @roadburner on his Stinger - I do like that orange...a lot.

    And...Happy New Year to all.

    Welcome back.

    I thought you went AWOL
With all the nannies on cars today I thought he bought one and couldn't figure out how to get out of it and then it took him the better part of a week to figure out how to break a window and climb out. :o

I have a strange affinity for this one. Love it. And yes I am sure it would do well with an engine upgrade. But anyone can shove a V8 in. I would go with a modded Volvo 4 banger instead. Keep it in the family!

though for something more practical (and wife friendly!) I could suck it up and drive this.

though this looks like way more fun. At least it will be after a crate engine and 5 speed are swapped in!

so that is about what, $285 with just 1st payment? Definitely cheap, and if I was looking for a cheapish spare car would be a fine option to haul the dog around in!

just built one. with a couple accessories (like Mats) and the tech package (cheap at $650), stickers right on $35k. and pretty well equipped. So that lease would be really attractive.

agreed. Most likely just got profiled away anyway. The salesguy has probably seen enough Euro brand owners coming in to know they are not likely serious buyers, and leading with running the car down compared to the brand you drove up in probably did not encourage him.

if you really want it at that price, call the SM tomorrow, give him the short version of the story, and make him the offer. Deal was going straight to him anyway.

Oh, and drive one first to see if you even like it!

I think that they believe that they are sitting on a "rare and exclusive!!!" model and they aren't going to budge much- if at all. Their website is borderline sketchy as well- when they advertise "$8000 off dealer price," that includes the $4,000 ADM.
I'm not interested enough to go back.
And I looked up Mr. Man Bun- he's a "Senior Sales Consultant"

You should have GG reach out on your behalf and see if he can make any progress. I'd laugh very hard at the sight of you pulling up to take delivery from another sales person while MMB watches (since obviously he did a poor job of qualifying you).

Looks like there is $7500 in bonus cash available. I don't think your offer was out of line at all - a 12% discount on a slow selling car with MSRP 48,040 with an additional $7500 in rebates comes out to 34,775 before TTL. That is fair, if not generous, given the timing.

Fact is, they look to be a low volume dealer (only 49 total cars in inventory) so that might be playing a bigger role than anything.

now that one I like. And if you are buying one of these, you want it to come from a rich owner that just paid to do everything!

what was it listed at? Price now just shows as sale pending.

The M5 was listed at $23,800 if memory serves. This small broker seems to specialize in “enthusiast” BMWs and has a BMW mechanic on staff who performs required maintenance and repairs and prepares the vehicles for sale.

So I think you’d be getting an honest example of such a car, and pay a modest premium over taking a chance on some private party sale, albeit not as much as an outfit like EAG demands.

RB...really sorry to hear about Elizabethtown dealer. They’re nuts, for certain. I know when I first started looking at Stingers after they first came out I saw them at the local Auto Show, the dealerships were acting like they were made out of titanium. The dealership I bought mine from had one that they put custom wheels on, along with Korean market badges and carbon fiber trim. They were asking $60K. I kept looking at it on their web site. It sat for a year. I guess someone bought it. I’m sure it was nowhere near $60K and it had sat for at least a year.

Given I knew some of the personnel (same dealer group I bought my ill fated Caddy from) at my dealer, it was a pretty simple deal. They knew how I do my “one offer” negotiation. Not sure if, given they’re a volume dealer, whether they have incentives other dealers do not. But, given the EOY for Kia, it was a leftover 2019 (I’m sure they got money to move it based on that fact, too), and whatever trunk money they had on it, it was one of those times where it was worth it for the dealer to perhaps lose some money (if they lost anything) to move another unit for year end bonus cash. At least that’s what I think. Doesn’t happen often, but I know it does happen.

I don’t think it has anything to do with my master negotiation skills, as I ordinarily don’t negotiate. I’m certain it has nothing to do with my sparking personality or George Clooney good looks, either (although I suppose both are possible ;)

My dealer didn’t have any GTSs. I think mine was the last 2019 GT they had left.

If you decide to come up to Cincinnati to look at that GTS at Superior, let me know. The GM there was the former GM at Superior Acura, where I bought all of my Acuras.
