hmmm... so a broker reached out to me through LH messenger to say he could get me an Ioniq for $153/mo with $153 at signing for 36/12 and just his $199 fee. Delivered to our door.
I'd spend the extra $100 a month for the Bolt, personally. Faster and better range.
Side question for @28firefighter - How often do you find yourself dipping into the REX backup on the i3? I'm guessing rarely, if ever.
That's unfortunate. At $258/month I'd probably have ended up in a Bolt.
BUT, $3600 over the life of the lease pays for mucho fuel. If we're careful, we could theoretically get to the dojo and back on battery only, so that's 5 trips a week with no fuel use. Figure if my wife takes it to work twice a week, that would be about 50 miles on fuel, which should be about 1 gallon. So, overall, 2 gallons a week, or $6 (rounding up) over the Bolt. That's $900 (minus, of course, the extra kwh the Bolt would use, but I'll keep this simple).
I agree, of course, the Bolt is quicker, but she doesn't care about that. And tough for me to justify spending an extra $2700 over 36 mos for a car I may not even drive that much to be quicker. Especially when that is what my Daytona is for.

The thought of a bolt and Daytona together makes me smile. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum.
My wife would not really know, or care, what drivetrain the car has. She never gets gas, and wouldn’t Plug it in. So as long as I made sure it never ran out of fuel source on her, she would drive anything. Assuming the drive was OK. That would be the kicker. Too small/low/slow/noisy (pick your favorite) and it won’t matter how cheap to run it is.
One reason I want to see the CRV hybrid. We loved the CRV other than (her issue) the tranny. So if the hybrid drives better, she would be fine with it. 40MPG being a side bonus! That won’t be a plug in though.
A plug in CUV that size with a 35 mile EV range would be perfect. I could plug it in every night and would cover her commute and most of our weekend running around all on battery.

All of you lauding the Bolt might want to sit in one first. Most people, including me, find the seats pretty uncomfortable.
A close friend of mine has a Bolt; while they aren't Volvo seats, I didn't find them to be as bad as some others have.
My friend is putting around 25K miles/year on it (real estate appraiser) and tells me the seats work well for him. It replaced a Golf TDI, and he tells me it has saved him a significant amount of money in fuel costs. If any of you see a red one with a roof rack in north King County or south Snohomish County, that would probably be him.
My wife just informed me her new office has charging stations. So that would drop petrol cost to maybe a couple hundred bucks over the next 3 yrs. oh, and I found out we’ll get a $40 amazon gift card for test driving AND can apply for a $500 post-sale rebate. Effective monthly is now down to $143.50.

Drove a VW Atlas yesterday...very impressive and it moved! Took it on the turnpike from right near our house, our local Enterprise office, and up to West Palm Beach. Even with 29K on the clock, drove very nicely. Much bigger than a Tiguan. Got to also drive a Hyundai Kona today and put a good 70 miles on it. Only had just under 24K on it but the road noise was horrendous and had to turn the Apple Car Play up pretty loud to compensate for all the racket. Needed new sneakers desperately. Learned one thing though. As nice as the modern Hyundai dash is, the Kona is not the car for me. Have a feeling that I'm gonna say the same thing about the Venue when I take a test drive in one. Just hoping the new Kia Soltis will be a bit quieter on the road and drive somewhat better. I know it's a really small vehicle, about 159" long, but if it drives nicely, cold be a contender. But now after driving the new Atlas and liking what VW did with their modern dash layout, anxious to get behind the wheel of the new 2020 Golf. If it drives as well as my current 2015 does and has as good an audio system as my Fender unit, might very well just end up with another Golf. I still love the way it drives and not sure most others I'm interested in will drive as nicely. Still need to try the new 2020 Honda HR-V just to see if they've improved it plus still need to get behind the wheel of a Mini Cooper again, a Countryman, and see if it beats the Golf at it's own game. Decided that I really do not want to settle on my next vehicle, and if I have to spend a little bit more for it, so be it. The best plan might just be to keep the current 2015 until something goes wrong with it, and then see what's out there. Now that my commute is so short, even if the Golf is in the shop, I could still get by with Lyft or having the wife drive me & pick me up. Just don't want to make another Tucson mistake and get something that just is so wrong for me. And even though a lease could work for me now, not sure I want to do that either. Sometimes in life, staying the course and doing nothing until something really good comes your way, is the best choice.

The Cincinnati Stinger GTS sold; there’s another one at a dealer south of Lexington and I plan to take a day off next week to go look at it. I would go check it out tomorrow but I have too many other obligations. If worse comes to worse I can talk to the GM at the local dealer but I consider that to be the absolute last resort.

so we liked the Ioniq and will move forward with a deal. I was pleasantly surprised at the room in the driver's seat and how quietly it cruises. Nothing terribly special but certainly adequate, not to mention crazy cheap at less than 16 cents a mile.

I couldn't remember what the Ioniq was, so I browsed the website. Man, they don't spare a cent for the options, do they? They have the Henry Ford philosophy going.

I had a 1999 GLS VR6 sedan (new body style). Run, do not walk. A complete money pit, but it drove great. I forgot they offered the VR6 in the wagon. It’s a much more responsive engine than the 1.8T of that generation, as it has no turbo lag.

I test drove the earlier VR6.. (1995?). It was a hoot. Torque steered like a Viggen!

After we bought the New Beetle in '99, it needed to go into the dealer or some reason. Got a VR6 as a loaner. That was a sweet engine, for the time.
I figured it was a money pit, but a wagon, 6 cylinders and a row-your-own transmission would make you 1 of 1 in your town. Was the 3-series wagon available with a stick? I'm sure @breld could tell us.
So wife and I discussed and decided, since I don’t know this random broker from Adam, and since broker only had black or white examples, I should give local dealer a chance (Dark gray paint). I emailed salesperson at 1pm to explain I had an offer in hand, and if they could match, we’ll take it. Broker was “about $153 + $199 fee.” If I take that at face value, that’s $158.50/mo equivalent. So I offered dealer $159/mo with $159 at signing. Heard nothing for a few hours, so I texted his cell. About 20 mins later, he said manager accepts and we can pick it up tomorrow at noon.
