Congratulations on the new Ioniq, Q. That pricing is way, way lower than anything available up here.

    @xwesx,
When I bought my car 3 months ago, I got an online quote, but when it came to initially talking numbers, they claimed not to know anything about it.
They started scrambling when I showed it to them on my phone. :)
Now that I think of it, that pretty much happened on my last purchases.

There are few things more satisfying, to me, than paying less than $300 at signing and driving away with a sub $300 payment. The excitement when I drove off in the i3 at $225 was amazing. You must be over the moon, @qbrozen.

I did not buy a car today, but I did book a cruise to Alaska for my parents' 35th Anniversary. My family, my sister, my brother, and my parents. If you folks haven't used CruiseCompete.com, I highly recommend it.

I so want to do an Alaska Cruise. Wife... not so much.

Does Hyundai allow lease transfers? There might be a cottage industry in leasing these things and swapping them to people who live in states where there aren’t as many incentives.

good point. Considering the only logic option is to sell the Charger, and that should not be on the table!

@28firefighter - lucky you on the cruise!

We did that for my in-laws 50th anniversary a couple summers ago. I loved the scenery and would do another Alaska cruise in a heartbeat, but my wife was not as enamored.

I may need to revise my estimate for 2020...

might be a good idea. I think I got put on "the clock" tonight. Was talking about cars over dinner (after 35 years, what else is there to talk about?) On the way home I mentioned since it was supposed to be so

warm I would wash the cars, and if I got ambitious might wax her car (though was not sure it needed it). And I tossed out a "maybe I should not bother, though it probably wasn't going away any time soon".

her response was along the lines of "it probably will, it's time". Shocked me! though she did toss in the obligatory (but half hearted) "I don't want a payment".

She still isn't sure what she wants (or more accurately, if we can afford something really fancy). So we will go out and drive a few things (and the car show is next month so can sit in everything possible other than the BMW which won't be there, but we did check that out at the dealer last month.

probably 2 months until the HELOC (and last remnants of college bills!) is fully paid off. So that is a big monthly nut disappearing. Replacing it with a car payment 1/4 as big should not hurt too much!

at least I should have free reign to stop and do some more test drives. Then after the car show will have to pin her down to what exactly she wants then see if I can make it happen!

I know it isn't the most exciting model, but for the lowish miles and CPO so almost 2 years of BtoB warranty, at the price does not seem like that bad of a deal. Plus I love the colors! For a decent priced 2nd car that isn't a penalty box, could do worse.

yeah, you have had a lot of "appliance" cars (some very nice, some just wheels) but the Daytona looks like a LT keeper.

so you are out of the market for a while. Unless of course, you find a nice toy!

My wife and I did an Alaska cruise out of Seattle about 6 years ago. The novelty of sailing from our “home” port. We went to Glacier Bay on Princess.

We’re doing a different itinerary this go around out to the Hubbard glacier.

So wife and I discussed and decided, since I don’t know this random broker from Adam, and since broker only had black or white examples, I should give local dealer a chance (Dark gray paint). I emailed salesperson at 1pm to explain I had an offer in hand, and if they could match, we’ll take it. Broker was “about $153 + $199 fee.” If I take that at face value, that’s $158.50/mo equivalent. So I offered dealer $159/mo with $159 at signing. Heard nothing for a few hours, so I texted his cell. About 20 mins later, he said manager accepts and we can pick it up tomorrow at noon.

    Excellent.

hi folks and happy 2020! On last day of GMC december incentives I bought a 'loaded' 2019 GMC Terrain Diesel AWD for 25% off MSRP, approx $32000 OTD before the $1200 GM card rebate. Lifetime GM card redemption over $19k now. Terrain is wife's DD. Her 016 sonic stick is now my youngest son's car. My two cars remain the 017 cruze diesel stick (55k) and 015 SS sedan stick (64k). many long roadtrips planned and since last post, will mention those in road trip forum. soon one of these vehicles may be residing in Florida full-time (Vero Beach near indian river inlet).

Selecting a plus tire size for curb protection? no no. you may be protecting the rim but curbing a tire is bad too. don't do it or you will destroy/bubble your tires. i wonder what people mean by 'curbing' too.... my interpretation is that it is a thing that happens unintentionally while parking. driving over a curb is not called 'curbing' - it is called 'driving over a curb'. don't do that either unless you have a vehicle that is supposed to do offroad stuff like crawling over big rocks.

That will literally be the most expensive $200 you ever spend. Don't fool yourself into thinking that anything can be done on a Cayenne can be done for $200, maybe an oil change.

This unusually warm weather is both good and bad. It is bad if you sell plumbing & heating supplies for a living and this is supposed to be your "busy" season. It is bad if your 10 year old doesn't have any hockey games this weekend because he got suspended, your 13 year old only has 1 game Sunday night, & you want to go skiing for the "no hockey" day. It is good if you have a well maintained 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH that's been staring at you when you leave and come home every day.

I fired up the Prelude this AM. It took a few cranks to turn over. Heat on. Sunroof open. It is amazing how warm the upper 40's feel. I just had such a pleasant drive to work this AM. My Prelude is simply a joy to drive.

Son & daughter-in-law have third child :):):) yet she selected Tahoe rather than a minivan which I had recommended. They traded their 2018 cruze diesel stick for the 2019 Tahoe.  i copied them quickly by purchasing a same-color/same-packages Terrain as a sort of 'mini Tahoe' for my wife.

that would be correct. You can't just remove it, but if it isn't functioning as intended you just don't get FWD probably. I assume you could remove the prop shaft to the front (I think some people do this on AWD Volvos when the angle gear goes) but entirely possible that would wreck havoc on the electronic warning systems.

In other news, low hanging tree branches cracked my windshield. :@

Those AMG 63s are surely a blast to drive. Reliable though? Mercedes? HA!

Btw in another forum I saw a post from a tree branch which said it was minding its own business when a windshield came along and cracked it.

The GMC Canyon my parents had (same in-line 5 engine) had repeated misfire issues - spark plugs and coils had to be replaced on multiple visits. Part of why they traded it for the Element.

No misfire issues on son's canyon diesel in its first 60k miles or so. No DEF issues. No issues with spark plugs or coils either! :| No factory issues at all. One significant dealer mistake with oil change, resulting in next 5 oil changes free, and the diesel oil changes are pricey.

It was interesting.. 14 days, five countries.

I wouldn't do it again, but I'm glad we did it. Enjoyable, and a lot of history. Good guides. We've only been on one ocean cruise. Wasn't a big fan. The accommodations on a riverboat cruise are much more spacious, and a great view from every cabin.

I don't know about the others in here but I like to hear about how the dealer screwed up an oil change. That's almost impossible to believe. Ah man, say it ain't so, please. I thought only DIYers did stuff like that.

Congrats on the punch. Have fun with it and give us your early impressetions.

My how times change. In 2005 when I came to Edmunds and visited the old forum, Stories From the Sales Front Lines or something like that, I was maybe the second guy, I think @snakeweasel was the other dope who owned a throwaway. Now it's almost fashionable to own one. Not many people can say they are ahead of the curve but that's a burden I've learned to live with for most of my life. B)

    Congrats again.
